.w3d file texture size limits

Hello,
I am wondering why I am having trouble exporting large
texture sizes from 3d max in a .w3d file. I end up with "noise"
instead of the actual texture.
What I'm doing is this:
- I'm rendering a 3d panorama using the panorama utility in
3d max at the highest rendering.
- I have 3 options to save from there: cylindrical, spherical
and qtvr (there's no cubic option unfortunately, unless I'm missing
something here...)
- I've saved all of them in various formats.
- I then create sphere, drag and drop the rendered panorama
texture into the sphere, create a camera and export to .w3d
- To keep the same resolution, I make sure it is at "no
limits" when exporting. If I choose 512, it looks like crap quite
frankly. I'm trying to make it look as good as the qtvr version,
which retains incredible sharpness.
For some reason, if I have the file size over 1536X768,
shockwave doesn't like it. And yet, I need as high a texture
possible to allow "good looking" real-time panoramas.
The qtvr version works amazing in Director...but there is a
disctinct lack of control and you have to make the hotspots in
another program. I want to do it all in director.
1024X512 - works
1536X768 - works
2048X1024 - doesn't work, goes noisy
3072X1536 - Looks the best, but doesn't work, goes noisy
So why would this be?
Surely there must be a way to export higher res textures in
.w3d format..?
Here is the actual link to a screen shot of the "noise":

Any help would be very much appreciated! Thank you...

Hi :)
Thank you for taking the time to help me out! It's been very
frusterating, to say the least....
Fantastic advice Ben and I will try it right now, to see if
it works! I' will post again soon to let you know..
As for the cube part, do you know how to use the
Reflect/Refract map option to render out cube panoramas? I know it
exists, but am having trouble using it...mainly, what object I am
supposed to "select" when it tells me to pick an object.
Basically, I just want a camera in the 3d room and have it
automatically generate the 6 graphics of the room for me. Just not
sure how to have it generate those cube maps... Do I select the
"camera," a "wall"..?

  • TV@nywhere File Split Size limitation?

I have been recording videos and wanted to set the File Split Size to 690mb, leaving some slop room, so the mpeg files would fit on a CD. I ran several tests and found that this file split size made no difference at all. The program would split on the defaults at about 4063mb.
Any others have problems with this?

The crappy software supplied with the TV@nywhere range is very buggy and one of the bugs is the file split option. I found that no matter what size it was set to within MSIPVS it would nearly always split the file at the default split size even with an NT file system. This is probably a registry entry problem, so you may be able to by-pass the software via the registry but do not attempt it unless you are happy editing the registry.
I personally never trust any software to split my video files and perfer to capture the video as one complete file (not possible with MSIPVS unless file is smaller than the default split size because of the bug) and then split it manually at more suitable points within the video. You can use Tmpeg, VirtualDub or simular to proform the splits. By do it this way you do not get people cut off in mid sentence or find you have to change CD etc part way through an action sequence.

  • Size limitation?

    Hi,
ignoring the device's physical mem, are there any JAR file max size limitation to take note of? I'm worried bcos i hav alot of graphical content in my midlet.
    For JSR184 developers:
BTW any1 know wat is the size limit for each M3G file?
    Thanks!

Well - most Nokia phones currently in use have 64kb size limit (Series-40, version 1.0), the next generation of non-handheld-phones of nokia (Series-40; 2.0) has 128kb.
Not to mention the object-size limit of some siemens phones - nothing may be bigger (uncrompressed!) than 16kb - no classes - no images (uncrompressed not png file size).
No classes, no images, no arrays.
Most symbian based devices (e.g series 60) do not have such size limits.

  • Nio ByteBuffer and memory-mapped file size limitation

I have a question/issue regarding ByteBuffer and memory-mapped file size limitations. I recently started using NIO FileChannels and ByteBuffers to store and process buffers of binary data. Until now, the maximum individual ByteBuffer/memory-mapped file size I have needed to process was around 80MB.
However, I need to now begin processing larger buffers of binary data from a new source. Initial testing with buffer sizes above 100MB result in IOExceptions (java.lang.OutOfMemoryError: Map failed).
I am using 32bit Windows XP; 2GB of memory (typically 1.3 to 1.5GB free); Java version 1.6.0_03; with -Xmx set to 1280m. Decreasing the Java heap max size down 768m does result in the ability to memory map larger buffers to files, but never bigger than roughly 500MB. However, the application that uses this code contains other components that require the -xMx option to be set to 1280.
The following simple code segment executed by itself will produce the IOException for me when executed using -Xmx1280m. If I use -Xmx768m, I can increase the buffer size up to around 300MB, but never to a size that I would think I could map.
    try
    String mapFile = "C:/temp/" + UUID.randomUUID().toString() + ".tmp";
    FileChannel rwChan = new RandomAccessFile( mapFile, "rw").getChannel();
    ByteBuffer byteBuffer = rwChan.map( FileChannel.MapMode.READ_WRITE,
    0, 100000000 );
    rwChan.close();
    catch( Exception e )
    e.printStackTrace();
I am hoping that someone can shed some light on the factors that affect the amount of data that may be memory mapped to/in a file at one time. I have investigated this for some time now and based on my understanding of how memory mapped files are supposed to work, I would think that I could map ByteBuffers to files larger than 500MB. I believe that address space plays a role, but I admittedly am no OS address space expert.
Thanks in advance for any input.

  • Is there a file size limitation to using this service?

I am working on a large PDF file (26 mb) and I need to re-size the original and mess with the margins. I don't beleive there is an easy way to do this in Adobe Acrobat 6.0 Pro. It sounds like I have to convert the file back to a Word document, do the adjustments there and then produce a new PDF. I have two questions:
Is there a file size limitation to using this service?
Will a PDF to Word doc. conversion mantain the format of the orginal PDF?
    Thanks
    Tim

    Good day Tim,
There is a 100MB file size limitation for submitting files to the ExportPDF service.  As for the quality of the conversion, from our FAQ entitled Will Adobe ExportPDF convert both text and formatting information?:
Adobe ExportPDF is capable of exporting high quality information, but the quality of your Word or Excel document depends on the quality of the PDF file you start with. For instance, if your PDF file was originally authored in Microsoft Word or Excel and converted to PDF using the PDFMaker functionality of Adobe Acrobat®, your PDF file contains a rich set of information that can be captured by Adobe ExportPDF. This includes relative positioning of tables, images, and even multi-column text, as well as page, paragraph, and font attributes.
If your PDF file was originally authored using simpler PDF generation methods, such as “print to PDF” or “scan to PDF” options, Adobe ExportPDF will convert any recognizable text and then use sophisticated conversion intelligence to preserve as much of the page layout as possible.
Please let us know if you have any other questions!
    Kind regards,
    David

  • Input file size limition in File Reader Adapter

    Hi,
We have a File Read Activity(using File Reader Adapter) which works on a Polling model. Whenever a input file is found in a designated directory it invokes our BPEL web service. During load testing we found out that if input file size exceeds 7 MB then we get "insufficient heap space" error. We found a reference to this size limitation in http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E11036_01/integrate.1013/b28994.pdf which has below lines..
"Files that are 7MB or larger in size cannot be delivered. As an alternative, you can debatch large files (if they have multiple messages), and publish these files in messages of size less than 7 MB. This alternative is applicable only to structured files (comma-delimited or fixed position), which contain more than one message. It is not applicable to binary or XML files."
Our customer will have the data in XML format and the size of the files will be pretty huge(running into 49, 69 MBs). Do we have any workaround here or we are left with no option but to ask the customer to split the files and load it? The later option is currently difficult one for the customer since when split there is a possibility of XML becoming invalid. Any pointers in this issue is appreciated.
    Thanks!
    Balaji

    Hi,
BPEL can not process more than 7 MB size xml structred file. but, debatching will work for xml files also provided if the file has repeated multiple structures (means multiple repeated root elements).

  • PDF file size limited to graphics memory in Reader?

I've created a form (in LiveCycleDS) that allows for an unlimited number of photos to be loaded into it. I put an image into a subform that is duplicated every time a user clicks a button thus creating an unlimited number of images that can hold photos. I then extended it with Reader Extensions.
I'm running into a problem when I try to load a large number of photos into the form.  It gets to about 47MB of images when it locks-up Adobe reader.  I've been able to bring up other applications after the lock-up and when I switch back to Reader the artifacts of the other application are then displayed within Reader.
What is the practical limit to the size of a file created with LiveCycle?  Is it tied to the amount of graphics memory a computer has?  My machine has 2GB of RAM while my video card has only 384MB.  I haven't been able to figure out if there is a file size limitation.

It's entirely normal for file size to increase. PDFs are much more compressed than print streams. For some printers the print size is almost constant (a huge bitmap), for others, it's a collection of graphical items and the size varies enormously. Rarely anything you can do.

  • Premiere Pro CC 2014 file size limits?

Hi a friend needs to create a 37hr uncompressed AVI file (by combining an avi of pictures and mp3 of audio of a performance) and is wondering if it can be done using Adobe Premiere Pro CC 2014, ie are there any file size limits? Any comments much appreciated.

Would be interesting to know how you are going to store that. 37 hours of HD uncompressed in an AVI wrapper requires around 24 TB of free disk space on a single volume. That means you would need  something like 12 x 3 TB drives in Raid6 + 1 HS, requiring at least a 16 port raid controller for those 13 disks, just for the output file. Due to fill rate degradation, that is cutting it thin. Additionally at least a X79 or X99 motherboard with 2011 socket is necessary.
Next question is, who would be crazy enough to marathon-watch 37 hours of a performance?
You may consider another workflow, not uncompressed and not 37 hours.

  • Web.Show_Document - Is there a file size limitation?

It appears that Web.Show_Document has a problem displaying large .pdfs.
Example: A .pdf size of *2505 KB* would not display, however I compressed the .pdf to *1172 KB* and the report displayed using web.show_document successfully.
I am displaying the .pdf in an Oracle forms using web.show_document. The user presses a button (View Report) and it displays the report. Except, now it is not displaying reports close to 2000 KB in size.
    The error says **"Exhausted Resultset"**
Is there a file size limitation with web.show_document?
    Environment Background:
Forms [32 Bit] Version 9.0.4.1.0 (Production)
    Oracle Toolkit Version 9.0.4.1.0 (Production)
    PL/SQL Version 9.0.1.5.1 (Production)
    Report Builder 9.0.4.1.0
    ORACLE Server Release 9.0.1.5.1
Oracle Database 10g Enterprise Edition Release 10.2.0.4.0 - 64bit Production

As already mentioned, WEB.SHOW_DOCUMENT has nothing to do with file size. This command simply sends a url to the system's default browser. There is no Oracle magic here.
To the problem, you said:...The error says **"Exhausted Resultset"**Where are you seeing this message?
    Is Forms generating this message?
    Is this a custom message?
Is this the complete message text?
    Is there an error number?
This does not appear to be a Forms generated error message.
I would suggest your store a large file in the same location as where your reports are located. The file should be of the same format (i.e. pdf). Open a browser and manually enter the necessary url to retrieve the content. I suspect the same problem would reproduce IF you believe the problem only occurs when the form calls WEB.SHOW. If it does reproduce then you have at least simplified the problem to a client browser requesting a document from a server.

  • File size limitation to import into imove

I can't import a movie into imove that is 999 mb. Does this application have a file size limitation. The file is saved as a *.m4v. Thanks for your help using imovie 09.

EyeTV should have an iMovie 09 Preset. That should make sure there are no extra tracks included.
Another way to get files out of EyeTV3...
Get MPEG Streamclip, which is free.
IN EyeTV 3, right click on the recording, and Reveal in Finder
Right click on the .eyeTV file in the finder and SHOW PACKAGE CONTENTS
Drag the .mpg file into MPEG Streamclip.
FILE/EXPORT TO QUICKTIME from MPEG Streamclip, choosing Apple Intermediate Codec.
Import this AIC file, which will be in a .mov container, into iMovie.
Note: You may need the Apple QuickTime MPEG2 Playback Component for this to work. MPEG Streamclip will tell you if you do. It costs $20 from Apple.

  • Android file size limitation?

How can I package an Android app that is over the 50mb limit using Flash Pro CS6 and Air?  Google now allows for additional content to be downloaded separately ...

OK ... so I called tech support on the phone and spent 15 minutes trying to convince them then Flash Pro CS6 could be used to create an Android app..  The conversation went nowhere.  Uhhhhgggg!!!
Here's the deal ...  Flash Pro CS6 is advertised as being able to create Android apps.  The 50MB file size limitation may not be a big deal for many people right now, but give it a year or two.  Most phones coming out have HD screens.  How can you pack all the assets of large game into <50MB???
So ... I'm going to continue to bump this thread (and the two other ones I have going) until I get a knowedgable response from Adobe.

  • Feedburner file size limitation issue

    Hey guys,
I'm Alex woking at 'micimpact', South Korea.
We launched our video podcast in April and now have uploaded more than 80 episodes in the channel.
We are using Blip.tv to upload the video files and burned our feed in Feedburner.
But the problem is, as the title is implying, Feedburner won't allow me to upload new episodes due to the 'feed filesize limitation' issue.
    So I have 2 questions;
    1) is there a way fo me to reduce the filesize?
    if not,
    2) is there a way for me to continue uploading episodes WITHOUT having to delete older episodes
My understading of the issue goes this far.
I will be more than happy to recieve advises from people who experienced similiar problems.
*the url of the Feedburner feed is
    http://feeds.feedburner.com/micimpact-tv
(there should be 6 more episodes showing which are already uploaded in Blip.tv)
    *the url for the podcast:
    http://itunes.apple.com/kr/podcast/cheongchungominsangdamso/id516903991?mt=2
    Cheers!
    Alex

The blip.tv link is to the web page, not the feed, and I can't see a link to the feed on it. However, the Feedburner feed will contain everything that's in the blip.tv feed, plus an number of tags which FB adds for the benefit of other rss readers.
It's the first time I've come across a size limitation on Feedburner. The problem is that the blip.tv feed is, to be brutally honest, a mess - it's got masses of 'blip:' tags which are no use to iTunes but expand the size of the feed considerably.
Presumably there's no way of getting FB to accept more than 512k in the feed (though you could approach their support, if any, for advice), so unless you want to go through the hassle of finding another way of making your feed (and I have to say that blip.tv has caused problems in the past and it's not a method I would recommend) your only option is to start removing older episodes. 81 is rather a lot anyway - new subscribers are not really very likely to go to the bother of downloading 80 older episodes, so dropping the oldest episodes is unlikely to have much practical effect.

  • 4gb file size limitation using java.io.* package in java stored procedure

Does anyone know about file size limitations when using java.io.* package inside java stored procedures. I have some java stored procedures that read and write to files. They error out when run as a java stored procedure within oracle on files over 4gb. I have no problems with these procedures when I test them outside of oracle.

I am using 10g Release 10.2.0.1.0, the java version returned by the Oracle JVM is 1.4.2_04
When I tested it outside of oracle I ran it using the java run time in ORACLE_HOME\jdk\bin and it works perfectly on files larger than 4gb.
Thank you for the UTL_FILE suggestion. I have considered using that but there is one method in Java that I can't seem to find a corresponding procedure for in PL/SQL.
    RandomAccessFile.setLength()
This allows me to truncate a file. I have a need to strip bytes off the end of a file without creating a copy because I am working with large files and disk space may be limited. It is also much slower to read from the original file and writing the same bytes to a new file (minus the trailing bytes).
If anybody has any insight about the 4gb java.io limitation in Oracle JVM or has a workaround in PL/SQL for the RandomAccessFile.setLength() method in Java, I would really appreciate the help.
    Thanks,
    Thach

John this is in regards to the questions from Leo above at Dalai, Inc. Is there an update to this 'issue' anywhere? Every time they made an update, it doesn't matter what (update of a button, changing a text, update a link) in folio builder, the HTMLResources disappears!!  we had to upload the HTMR file every single time we made a change!, maybe that doesn't sound like a big deal, but size of our HTML file is 141.4MB and we have to wait more than an hour for update. The scenario is they have a folio that is very large like InDesign CS5 (latin american spanish version), and we made a publication of over 250 pages (in horizontal and vertical) divided in 19 stacks, with more than 140 images, sounds and interaction,

Is there a timeframe as to when we will updating or is there a workaround I am unaware of ? It is working now, but I would like to research as to why this happens. Thanks, John.
