W500 ATI FireGL 5700 BSOD on new driver upgrade

I'm seeing the video corruption where I get a dot/fuzzy pattern randomly at times.  As much as I can figure out, a new driver may take care of the video corruption.
However, I am consistently getting a BSOD when upgrading to the latest 8.752.4-101022a-107489C (windows7, x64) dated 15/Nov/2010 driver. After I install and reboot, the BSOD occurs and I'm forced to go back to restore state in order to get the machine to boot.  I've tried this several times with or without killing the ATI Catalyst program before install.
Anyone have any ideas on how to figure this out?  Anyone seen this issue before and know of a workaround?
I also noticed that after install and the restore state runs, the 7vd616ww.exe file is 0 bytes.  Weird.
-Thanks in advance

Your assupmtion is right....its a problem with the nvidia display driver.
Try booting in safemode and deinstalling the driver. This should at least make u able to boot normally. Then try to install one of those modded-drivers. I've been using those for a long time without problems

  • 8530 HELP PLEASE! Installed new driver

I installed the new driver last night (2/17/2012).  There was no warning that the new driver no longer uses Intellisync and only syncs with MS Outlook.  All of my contacts and calendar are in a 3rd party software which uses Intellisync.   I have been compiling contacts in this software since 2004.  So I am screwed now in regard to synchronization .  I do not want to migrate to MS Outlook because my current 3rd party database software links contact records and calendar events.
I had to abandon my perfectly good Palm when I upgraded to Windows 7 and bought the BB because it did synch with my database software.  How do I revert back to the previous driver which will use Intellisync?
It would have been customer-friendly if there had been a warning prior to my installing the new driver upgrade (as in "what changes").  This is unforgivable!!!!!!!

    Cameron,
You guessed correctly - before you can restore from backup, you must format the drive. Select the drive in Disk Utility, click on the "Erase" tab and format the drive as "Mac OS Extended (Journaled)" and give it a name ("Macintosh HD" is Apple's default name for internal drives) and then click erase. Your drive will be formatted in a minute or so and you can proceed with Time Machine restoration.
    Good luck,

  • ATI FireGL V3100 driver for 64 bit OS

I have ATI FireGL V3100 Graphic Card intalled in my HP xw4400 Workstation. I am now using Windows 7 64 bit OS and would like to upgrade the Graphic Card drivers since the video output is awful.  I'm using an HP LCD monitor. Any help out there? Johnie.

    Hi, Johnnie:
There are no W7 drivers for that card that I know of.
I would use the Vista driver from your PC's support and driver page.
    http://h20565.www2.hp.com/portal/site/hpsc/template.PAGE/public/psi/swdDetails/?sp4ts.oid=3211221&sp...
You will probably have to install it manually if the driver does not install automatically or reports an unsupported operating system error.
If it reports and error, close out of any error windows.  Go to the device manager and click to expand the Display Adapters category.
Click on the Standard VGA adapter. Click on the driver tab.  Click on Update Driver.  Select the Browse my computer for driver software method and browse to the driver folder that was created when you ran the file.
That folder will be located in C:\SWSetup\sp37776.
Make sure the Include Subfolders box is checked and the driver should install.
After you reboot, you should have decent graphics.
Then connect to the internet and run the Windows Update utility and see if Windows finds a newer driver for W7.

  • ATI FireGL v3350 video card or buy a new one?

I just got a new computer and am going to be using premiere for video editing. The video card is the ATI FireGL v3350. Is this sufficient to produce quality videos? Obviously new to this. Also, if not what replacement video card should be purchased?
    thanks

The video card won't affect the quality of the videos at all. You should be fine with that card.

  • Satellite P300-1FY - BSOD due video driver issue

    Hi,
I've bought this laptop a good month ago to replace my old one that had crashed beyond repair and I've been having problems with the video drivers ever since. I initially hoped the problem would solve itself since I am in the middle of my exams and I really don't have time too much extra time to spend on mending it myself, and I also can't give it back to the store since I need certain software for my exams.
So the problem I think lies with the video drivers for the ATI Mobility Radeon HD 3470 graphic card. Whilst I am working on my laptop my screen all of a sudden turns black and my computer freezes (including very unpleasant sound when I'm playing music at the time) an after 5 seconds it flashes back into live and displays a message saying a beelschermstuurprogramma werkte niet perfect en is nu herstela. In English this would be something like s video drivers were not functioning correctly and have now been repaired.
This is of course hugely irritating but it became even more so a couple of weeks ago when I first got a blue screen because of a similar error. Leading me to lose half a hour of work on my laptop. (and as anyone who has ever had exams knows, half an hour is not something you can always afford to lose) I ran the wizard and it sent me to the ATI website to look for drivers.
The inconvenience is that I've been able to find a lot of drivers, but none for the 3400 series. After searching internet for a while I finally found some drivers for these series (or they claimed to be), however this installer was corrupt. I also searched the Toshiba website but I didn't find what I was looking for.
The laptop also freezes from time to time without the screen turning all black.
Could someone help me with this issue?
    Louis-Philippe
P.S.: quality of the keyboard is really bad too

First of all you should post the exact BSOD code and what OS do you use. Then we can search on the Microsoft Knowledge Base for this issue and what is the reason for this.
So please post the BSOD code.
Furthermore I dont understand why you cant find a driver on the Toshiba website. The Satellite P300-1FY belongs to the PSPCCE series and therefore I can find a display driver for XP and Vista. So where is the problem? Maybe you should try to install this driver:
    http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com => Support & Downloads => Download Drivers
But before you install the driver, remove the old driver first. Restart the notebook and clean your system with CCleaner. Restart the notebook again and then install the newest version from the Toshiba website.
The display driver on the manufactures website (ATI) doesnt work because its only for desktop cards and not for notebooks. So you cant install it and your notebook is only tested with the Toshiba drivers.
If the new driver doesnt work you should try to update the BIOS too. You can find on the Toshiba page.
    Good luck!!

  • Disk utility reports "Device could not be opened" - error when trying to format a new drive in a Mac Pro 1,1

    MacPro 1,1 Quadcore 3 GHz (2006 "Woodcrest")
    32 GB RAM
    ATI Radeon HD 5770
    OS X 10.7.5 Lion
I have encountered the following behavior when trying to format a new drive with disk utility. This description has also been send via the Mac Pro feedback as a bug report to Apple.
On searching the web and forums with this particular error message and behaviour I could not find any usful results. So maybe the following description may be helpful for some users.
    Best regards.
    1. Drive Bay 1 contains the original 250 GB Startupdisk. It works without errors.
    2. Drive Bays 3 and 4 contain each a WD Caviar Black 2 TB SATA 3 HDD. They work without errors.
    3. I have purchased a third WD Caviar Black 2 TB HDD.
    4. In Drive Bay 2 there has been a Seagate 750 GB HDD, which worked in conjunction with all the other drives without error.
    5. I exchanged the Seagate HDD in Drive Bay 2 with the new WD Caviar Black 2 TB HDD.
    6. On starting the system, it will report to initialize the new drive.
    7. On trying to initialize the new drive with disk utility it reports the error [translated from German] "Erasing of the volume has failed. The device could not be opened."
    8. I thought that the drive is faulty. Thus I created an RMA-Case at WD. They exchanged the drive without problems.
    9. On getting the exchanged WD Caviar Black 2 TB drive I put it in Drive Bay 2 as before.
    10. On trying to erase and format the exchange drive I got the same error message "Drive could not be opened."
10.1 On selecting the physical drive in the devices list, disk utility reports all information in the bottom area of its window as usual, e. g. hard disk description, connection bus, type and place, capacity, write status, SMART-status, partition scheme.
10.1 On leaving that drive selected in the devices list and clicking the info-button, disk utility will also report additional information as usual, e. g. Name, Type, partition scheme, media-identification, media name, media type, device tree, … , number of relocated sectors, etc.. All this information appears to be valid, as can be compared to the other devices information inside the other Drive Bays. Also the disk numbering scheme appears to be standard - 4 HDDs give the numbering disk0, disk1, disk2, disk3.
10.2 From that information I conclude that the SATA-bus and connectors electrically work properly, the drive has spun up and can be accessed by the system normally.
    11. I powered down the computer, took out the HDDs from Drive Bays 3 and 4 and put the caddy with the new exchange drive in Drive Bay 4 [Maybe, I could have also just left it alone in Drive Bay 2, or 3].
    12. After powering on the system, disk utility will quick format the exchange drive without any error message. Also, when erasing again by selecting the option to write zeros to the drive, disk utility will finish without error.
    13. After disk utility finished formatting, I put back the original drives into Drive Bay 3 and 4 and put the now newly formatted drive back into Drive Bay 2.
    14. After switching on the computer the system start and login proceeds without any error message. All drives appear as expected on the desktop.

If anyone is reading this still looking for what caused the issue and how to fix it here is what I discovered.
The antivirus program our company uses, Bitdefender Antivirus Plus, was causing some of the PDF files not to open. After troubleshooting the different modules and settings the culprit was..
Scan SSL in Privacy Control Settings. Turning it OFF solved the problem and all the PDF files that previously would not open now open just fine. This issue has been sent to Bitdefender for them to review. If you use a different antivirus program and are having this issue try locating the Scan SSL setting and see if turning it off solves the problem.

  • HP Pavilion w/ ATI RADEON 5700

    Can someone assist?
I have an HP Pavilion model a6838f with an  ATI RADEON 5700.
I cannot successfully install the latest driver into the system (Vista OS)
If I run the complete install it finishes but then the OS indicates there is NO graphics card installed.
    Thoughts?

    Hello again HowardW_NYC_QNS,
Thank you for the updated information on your issue. So according to the HP Pavilion a6838f Desktop PC Product Specifications page for your computer it came with Integrated graphics using Intel GMA 3100. I am assuming as the motherboard supports PCI Express x16 graphics cards that you have installed the AMD HD 5700 graphics card yourself.
If this is the case and you are having issues with the drivers the only thing I can do is link you to the HP Pavilion a6838f Desktop PC Drivers page and advise you to ensure ALL your drivers are up to date before trying to install the AMD HD 5700 graphics card drivers. Any issues you have beyond that will have to be addressed by AMD. You can try posting on the AMD Forums to see if you can find a solution there.
I hope I have answered your question to your satisfaction. Thank you for posting on the HP Forums. Have a wonderful day!

  • Re: Satellite A210-16F: Where to get newer driver for graphic card??

    Hi!
I have a Satellite A210-16F laptop with a Ati Mobility Radeon HD 2600 graphic card...
After checking my device manager i found out that my graphic drivers are from 2007 which can't be good :S but for the life of me i can't find the right drivers anywhere... if you check out the screenshot, you will see that the drivers are from 2007 and after i click on "update driver" and then "search automatically for updated driver software" it never finds anything and tells me that my drivers are up-to-date :SS Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!
Oh, also, my OS is Vista Home Premium (32-bit)
    Thank you!
    http://img269.imageshack.us/img269/3407/61265269.jpg

One solution for your problem is, that if you upgraded your OS to Windows 7, there's a new driver for Mobility Radeon 2000 Series (Catalyst 9.6) on the ATI/AMD driver page(that one with the OS selector etc..). It's states however, that these drivers are for 7's beta releases only, but if you install them even on regular Win7 system, they're working fine and after a while an update for them appears in Windows update(It should update to Catalyst 9.7). I run them almost a week without a problem and it even resolved my Mass Effect 2 crashing issue.
One problem remains though that the driver is only for Win7(when you select Vista, it's really annoying: "Please contact your device driver manufacturer..." for you.).
It's truly more annoying than sad, that Toshiba, although in the Win7 supported laptop models list states that P200/A200 series are supported, the only thing supported after all seems to be a bluetooth module(since only that one got a new driver). So far there was no problem with an old display driver for 2600, but recently the new Mass Effect 2 crashes almost randomly during loading stages(with error log in computer management stating that the faulting module is ATI(anything here), and I only expect more such errors/problems with new games to come, because almost 2 years old drivers! So I think guys in Toshiba software engineering should really wake up.

  • Broken MSI 3870 OC by some new driver [Catalyst 9.10] [Solved]

Hi all, Well the videocard was fried, I did a look at it and I don't know what is broken but it just doesnt work anymore.
I finished buying a new videocard.

    Quote from: belhot92 on 02-November-09, 07:01:10
I've bought this videocard like an year ago and till the moment it was working ok.
One year later when I went to install the Ati catalyst drivers 9.10 as all the drivers you download for the vga must be from the ati website (because they have the most updated drivers to day and bla bla bla..) I found out the other day, after shutting the computer down that I had no post screen and no boot screen
When I put the computer on I just received 11 beeps and no boot..
I installed a normal Pci video card and the computer started up with no problems.
I still can't believe it got broken by some catalyst drivers..
I think that that can be RMA'd as a driver broke my card.
    The driver wasn't even beta..
It was a new driver like when most of the new drivers come out.
This is simply a coincidence.  Whether you updated the driver or not - your card was going to die.
I think your PSU would run a 5770.  I'm not sure of the exact figures, however.

  • Doom 3 + XFi + new driv

Did anyone play EAX4-patched Doom 3 with 2.5/2.8 X-Fi driver? I can play through the first level in EAX4 mode, but once the level is finished the game quits back to main menu with the "Error unloading data from OpenAL hardware buffer" message.

    Hello All!
After responding to this thread, I noticed that a couple of posters do not list intel iMacs on the "what system do you have?" line below their message.
This being a Core Duo iMac Discussion Group, I simply assumed that everyone posting here had Intel machines. That error means some of the suggestions I made are not necessarily appropriate.
If you are running the new version of Doom on a non-Intel Mac, you may have problems with the software that are NOT inherent to the upgrade or the game.
The Doom Universal Binary patch recodes part of the game to take advantage of Intel-specific chip features that improve performance on those CPUs.
In addition (possibly most important), the patched version takes advantage of lookahead features in the ATI video cards on the new iMacs that may or may not be available on your system.
SO--if you don't have an intel CPU, OR if your video board cannot take advantage of the lookahead option, OR if you have too little RAM or video memory, OR if you have an older video card, OR if you have a below 1.5GHz CPU, OR if you have an older version of OS X, you will have problems running at higher resolutions or with all the features switched on.
OTOH-you can probably have fun at lower resolutions and fewer features, so all is not lost!
    Regards,
    Gene

  • Hard drive crashed. How do I get OSX on my new drive?

I think my hard drive crashed, oh my.  First, let me say that all my data is backed-up on a cloud drive or on my network drive.  So, I am good there.  The computer is now completely inoperable, can't start up, not even in safe mode. Just goes to Apple grey screen and then shuts down, that Issa far as I can get. Does not even play the start-up chime anymore.
Question I have is this: I did not make a bootable start-up drive (dumb), so when I get a new drive to replace this, how will I get the OS on it to start- up and get the new drive ready?

If you don't get a startup chime then you may have a worse problem. Just be prepared.
What year is your MBP? From 2011 onward you would use Internet Recovery. Earlier you would need to install the original software that came with the computer on software restore DVDs.
    Internet Recovery
Install Mavericks, Lion/Mountain Lion Using Internet Recovery
Be sure you backup your files to an external drive or second internal drive because the following procedure will remove everything from the hard drive.
Boot to the Internet Recovery HD:
Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND-OPTION- R keys until a globe appears on the screen. Wait patiently - 15-20 minutes - until the Recovery main menu appears.
Partition and Format the hard drive:
    1. Select Disk Utility from the main menu and click on the Continue button.
    2. After DU loads select your newly installed hard drive (this is the entry with the mfgr.'s ID and size) from the left side list. Click on the Partition tab in the DU main window.
    3. Under the Volume Scheme heading set the number of partitions from the drop down menu to one. Click on the Options button, set the partition scheme to GUID then click on the OK button. Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Click on the Partition button and wait until the process has completed. Quit DU and return to the main menu.
Reinstall Lion/Mountain Lion. Mavericks: Select Reinstall Lion/Mountain Lion, Mavericks and click on the Install button. Be sure to select the correct drive to use if you have more than one.
Note: You will need an active Internet connection. I suggest using Ethernet
if possible because it is three times faster than wireless.
This should restore the version of OS X originally pre-installed on the computer.
    DVD Installation:
    Clean Install of Snow Leopard
Be sure to make a backup first because the following procedure will erase
the drive and everything on it.
         1. Boot the computer using the Snow Leopard Installer Disc or the Disc 1 that came
with your computer.  Insert the disc into the optical drive and restart the computer.
After the chime press and hold down the  "C" key.  Release the key when you see
a small spinning gear appear below the dark gray Apple logo.
         2. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue
button. When the menu bar appears select Disk Utility from the Utilities menu.
After DU loads select the hard drive entry from the left side list (mfgr.'s ID and drive
size.)  Click on the Partition tab in the DU main window.  Set the number of
partitions to one (1) from the Partitions drop down menu, click on Options button
and select GUID, click on OK, then set the format type to MacOS Extended
(Journaled, if supported), then click on the Apply button.
         3. When the formatting has completed quit DU and return to the installer.  Proceed
with the OS X installation and follow the directions included with the installer.
         4. When the installation has completed your computer will Restart into the Setup
Assistant. Be sure you configure your initial admin account with the exact same
username and password that you used on your old drive. After you finish Setup
Assistant will complete the installation after which you will be running a fresh
install of OS X.  You can now begin the update process by opening Software
Update and installing all recommended updates to bring your installation current.
Download and install Mac OS X 10.6.8 Update Combo v1.1.

  • How do I erase an older Western Digital 1TB mirrored hard drive? Newer drives can be erased via a WD Utility, but the WD site says to "ask Apple" about the older ones.

I have a MacBook Pro with OSX 10.7.5.  The hard drive is approx. six years old - a Western Digital for Macs, mirrored with 1TB on each half.
Because the drive is "infected" with Time Machine backups that I can't erase, I have removed all important files from the drive and now want to wipe it clean.  I've done this with new drives, via the WD Utility that came with the drive, but the older drive doesn't have such a utility.  The WD site only has a protocol for PCs.
I find nothing on the Apple site itself.  Can you community members help??
(I've tried various ways of deleting the Time Machine backups, but nothing has worked.  The instructions for that, which I read on a community support site, were too advanced for me to understand.  A Mac IT guy tried to erase the backups, but he didn't know how either.  So that is why I'm erasing the drive totally.  I've learned my lesson and have a dedicated Time Machine drive now.)

    Please be clear:
This is a mirrored RAID that you use as the startup disk?
You now have a different startup disk and wish to erase the RAID mirror?
Do you wish to continue using the RAID for backup?
If all you want to do is erase the RAID to get rid or the Time Machine backups, the use Disk Utility to erase the mirror disk mounted on the Desktop.
