W500 periodically freezes during games and videos.

My w500 laptop has been owned since summer of 09. This past fall, my laptop started to freeze in the middle of games and videos, and then speed up to the point where the video or game was suppose to be (ex. Video starts at 0:05, freezes at 0:06, 3 seconds pass and the video jumps to 0:09 in the video). It has been persistent and I sent it for repairs and reimages. I thought it was due to the graphics card and got a new one under a warranty, but the problem still occurs today. Is it a harddrive issue or is there a file I can download to resolve this? Any help would be great.

Yeah the drivers are updated, I'll try the solutions above and see what happens. Thanks for the suggestions really appreciate it

I have had my phone for a little over a year and just recently it is freezing during songs and videos the songs completley stop and my volume bar disappears, then it comes right back. The volume is also stopping during videos the video will continue to play but no sound. When you try to power off with the top button, do you get the "Slide to Power Off" bar? And do you slide it? If it powers back on immediately after doing that, since you have already done a reset, then restore is the next step. You can restore from a backup, or if that doesn't fix it, restore as a new device. Remember restoring as a new device will delete all content from the phone, so make sure you have synced everything. Zen Micro Freezes during play and sometimes won't turn on at

I have been having some issues with my micro and wondered if anyone could help. I didn't drop it or do anything I can recall to cause these issues, it just seemed to start out of the blue. 2 things are happening. Sometimes it will freeze during play and "buzz" (it's really just transmitting a countinuous sound of a millisecond of what it was playing like if the guy was saying apple, and it freezes when he starts to say it it will sound like "aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa" but in a completely illegible buzz way). Second, it will sometimes not turn on at all, no creative logo, no lights, no nothing. Once I take out the battery and replace it, it will always then start no problem. The battery does not seem to be loose at all as the above mentioned buzzin will not stop until I remove the battery, and as I have repeatedly removed the back of the micro during these buzz session?the battery remains firmly seated and the buzzing continues until I remove it. So far I have updated the firmware to 2.2.02 (which I believe reformatted) which didn't stop it from freezing up during play, and just now did a disk clean up (which I can't imagine will have any change?if a complete format didn't). I haven't had the start up problem since the firmware update, but I haven't turned it on and off that many times yet. Any ideas? Sorry to be so verbose but I wanted to explain as best as I could what's wrong, and what I've done so far.

Remove SIM and miniSD card first. Try to boot.
The try hooking it up to the PC again. And see if you might be able to redo the update process.
You can also try a hard reset. As described in a different tread. (Or read below).
Othervise, I afraid you will have to take it to a Service Center.

I did a restore ipod from my ipod and after it completed it , my ipod cant boot. It freezes during booting and my computer doesnt recognize it when i plug it.

It didn't used to do this or at least I wasn;t aware of until I ran a program called PCI Latency Tool 2.0 to test different settings of the PCI latency timer and all hell broke loose. Ive tried reloadingh the BIOS and reimaging the partition to the state where everything used to work but to no avail
I look at the IRQ table in WIn XP and the AGP card & the Audigy are sharing the same IRQ but I guess this is normal for WIn XP
I have no spyware running in the background, no USB game pad/controller plugged in, AGAIN the prob goes away when I take out the sound card
I only have AGP and PCI slot, I have a mini motherboard

Computer Freezes during games - crash logs included - help?

My PowerMac has been crashing during WC3 and Halo (1.5.2) for the last six months or so. I though it might be hardware, but I switched out my PM Dual 2.0 for a PM Dual 2.5 with my Dad, and the only things I kept were the hard drives and airport card. Still they freeze and force restart. I just erased my hard drive and installed Leopard from scratch. SAME PROBLEM, even though in most cases I reinstalled fresh versions of software (and only a limited amount). I pulled Halo and WC3 from my backup instead of reinstalling, knowing that I've reinstalled them each several times previous from scratch and still had the same problem. Can you help?

I've got 2.5 gig of memory, both games are Leopard compatible (and had the exact same problem in Tiger), and all have current patches. I also own both games, so I know it's not about downloading some faulty bits for P2P or anything like that. I also have 75 GB of available memory out of a possible 300 GB, so it's not that there's a lack of space causing problems. As I mentioned, I erase/installed a fresh OS. I've turned off airport, alternated between hard drives, tried creating a new user account, even ejected my backup hard drive in case that was gumming things up. Permissions and repairs are A-OK.
I finally found a thread that suggested there some issue with dual processors and 3D games, though primarily the people who were talking about it were Intel users, many of whom were playing games through BootCamp and Parallels. Nothing helpful there.
Any more thoughts?

Uploeaded the latest FF version and very happy with it. When I restart my comp because of other problems..... games and video get slow again. This is the 3rd time and I have to wait for a new update to fix it. What di I do?

Hi, I have a Mac running 10.4.11. I recently updated my FF and noticed my games ran faster and videos worked better. I had some problems accessing the net today and had to restart my computer. Suddenly my games all went into super slow mode. This is the third time this has happened. It appears that my restart (my computer) does something to override whatever has made my computer faster and better. What can I do, except wait for the next update? I have tried reinstalling it, but no, it doesn't work.

Well now FF just closes on many applications. Is there a Mac & FF compatibility problem?

Flash Games and Videos stopped working all of a sudden

I used to be able to play various Flash games and watch videos, but I started noticing last week that I have lost the ability to do so on every browser I have installed (IE, GC, FF). I tried my other computer and everything works fine. I have been through many troubleshooting steps, talked ot the developers of the game I tried playing, and more. I still can't figure out what the issue is.

I'm having the same problem and there's no resolution to be found. You try and click on a video on FB (or play a game) and it says you need "Flash Driver" and I have it. Very frustrating

Error in games and video not runnning properly

When I start game it shows an error that either hardware accleration is disabled or video card is no supported. Afetr that game is running slowly. For video it shows colored dots in video and video also plays slow. I think its also because of same problem. I checked may hardware acclelerion which is ok. I also installed Intel High-Definition (HD) Graphics Driver - sp69588 driver but no change. It still works like that. What shold I do? Please help me out.

Flash game and videos show !

I was playing a game (I think its a flash game) when the screen suddenly froze and howed an !. After that I refreshed but the place where the game was is empty and nothing comes up. Now any type of video (youtube, up2 player etc.) also showed an ! and also doesn't work. I tried opening the game and youtube on internet explorer and it works there.... How can I fix this?

My iTunes keeps freezing during syncing and wont let me put any music on. What do I do?

I have a PC and the newest iPod touch. I was receiving error message -54 while syncing recently so i checked on this site and found out that some of my files could be locked. Sure enough I went through all of my files, found and deleted all the locked ones and wiped my itunes. I then kept getting a error message telling me that the sync session couldn't start. Then I wiped my ipod and uninstalled and reinstalled iTunes multiple times. But each time I try to sync my ipod, itunes freezes and I have to restart the entire program. I am at a complete loss as to what to do. I have tried everything I could, and have had no luck. The program keeps freezing on me and doens't allow me to sync my ipod or my ipad, so it would seem to be a problem with my itunes but I don't know what to do, nevermind how to fix it.

You will lose all of the content on the ipod, but you will have to restore. If you cannot then follw this:

Help with timecode and video freeze during Print to Video

This has happened twice in last couple months. Timeline is usually around 22 - 23 minutes. At some point during playback to HDV deck using Print to Video via FireWire, the timecode freezes and so does the video for approx. 2-3 seconds, then resumes on 2-3 seconds later in the timeline. Everything is still in perfect sync. Playing back the timeline on computer reveals nothing. Please, does anyone have any suggestions at all??

You should be mixing down the audio before you record to tape, try that if you haven't done it first...
If that fails, export a self contained QuickTime movie, then see if it doesn't print to video or edit to tape better.
Use the fastest drive you have for the QT movie's playback, and it should be something other than your startup disk.

Windows 7 frequently freezes during games & (end of) videos w/ bootcamp 3.1

Hi,
when running Windows 7 via bootcamp 3.1 on my new iMac (i5, 27", ATI Radeon 4850 HD) it keeps frequently freezing (completely!) when running videos (e.g., at the end of 5-10 youtube videos) and especially when running 3d games (e.g., while switching to an in-game menu after 10-20min gaming). Even though, the Windows event logging unfortunately has no entries before the freeze, I'm certain its an ATI driver issue. Hence, I tried all drivers available or suggested in discussions, but without any success. Concretely, I tried:
- ATI 8.661.0.0 (driver date 23-09-2009, bootcamp 3.0) => freezing
- ATI 8.681.0.0 (driver date 24-11-2009, bootcamp 3.1) => freezing & color banding
- ATI 8.732.0.0 (driver date 04-05-2010, www.ati.com, mobility driver) => freezing
Does anybody has a working solution, a workaround, or another idea what else I could try?

Don't know about the earlier poster, but that is exactly what I did. I don't know if you can download the ATI drivers from ATI without also installing Catalyst. I definitely got it as part of my download, and even tried fiddling around with the settings in there, but my systems still freezes randomly
