[W520] Can't install updates for Intel WiDi or WiFi drivers

The Lenovo ThinkVantage System Update is telling me there are Intel WiDi and WiFi drivers available. When I try to install them they seem to install fine, I get a Windows pop-up saying 'you're new hardware has installed correctly', then my system restarts and the updates are still listed as new available updates. In the ThinkVantage update history it says for both "Did not install". When I look at the driver version for the WiFi driver it is 14.03.0000.0 but I already have version 15.1.0.18 according to the ThinkBantage Toolbox System Information. So I already have the newest drivers? Why is the Update tool prompting for these updates? Should I just hide these updates? I don't care about WiDi but I'd like to have the newest WiFi drivers.

I understand the frustration this must cause you. If You uninstall and reinstall the System update and the WiDi and WiFi drivers. This could fix your problem.

Do you have the links that you used to download the Cyberlink MediaSuite and Cyberlink LabelPrint?
Are you getting any errors message when you are trying the installation? Try doing the installation with your anti-virus disconnected. Also try right-clicking on the file and running it as Administrator.

When you can not install the updates from the Help menu, go to http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/product.jsp?product=1&platform=Windows (similar for MAC) and install the updates in order. It is a good idea to download from the most recent back in case there are any you can skip (each updates indicates the prior version required). You generally need to reboot only after the last update.

I downloaded photoshop cs4 onto my windows vista computer, but the version i have says 11.0. its really slow and lags when i try to draw so i tried to update it to 11.0.2 but when i went into the installer it said can not install please click the quit button. Uninstall everything Adobe, run the Creative Suite Cleaner Tool, reinstall from scratch. in so many words: You have another dependent update already in place when you updated something else (e.g. Acrobat's PDF libraries) and it's blocking your otehr update. Though none of this may fix your actual performance problem in PS, to be honest. This may be completely unrelated and be a problem with the machine itself. Ask on the PS forum.

My CC icon shows that all my Apps are up to date. But when a friend was over my house, she noticed that the initial image when opening CC was different than what she had. She recently installed the update. I can't seem to find out how to do this. Thanks

If not go to Help menu > Updates and check there.
If nothing happens Help > Sign out, restart Photoshop and sign in, then check for updates.

Can't install update for an App

I purchased an app for the App store. An update was available, but when I tried to update, it downloaded fine and then began installing. Before it finishes it quits and says and error has occurred. Unable to move to applications folder. The developer said it is a disk permission issue. Any ideas on how to solve this problem. I've had no other issue updating any other apps from the app store.

Try repairing permissions.
Launch Disk Utility. (Applications/Utilities) Select MacintoshHD in the panel on the left, select the FirstAid tab. Click: Repair Disk Permissions. When it's finished from the Menu Bar, Quit Disk Utility and restart your Mac. If you see a long list of "messages" in the permissions window, it's ok. As long as you see, "Permissions Repair Complete" when it's finished... you're done.
If you see any warnings re: SUID messages, they can be safely ignored, information here: http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1448?viewlocale=en_US 
Restart your Mac, try the update again. If it still won't update, definitely let the deverloper know.

I'm using Windows 7 32-bit with Firefox 17.0.1 -- everything's up to date. I keep getting this error every time I try to update an Adobe add-on using the idiot stub installer -- I don't have this problem with a full installer, such as I've been able to find for Shockwave. Why can't I donwload a full installer for Flash or Reader and avoid this stupid problem??? It started about two or three Windows updates ago, and nothing else is now on my system. The file is 192.4MB
Every time i trie to install it failes saying: Adobe setup stopped working.Updater did not work.
I tried installing with firewall and antivirus shut down, didnt work.

I make clips using a Sony PD170 camera. When i make a widescreen (16:9) project the exported formats turn out strange.
It seems its always 4:3 format with black filling up the top and bottom.
I hope someone understands what i mean and knows a solution.

1. Try to download manually from the Adobe site.
2. The PD-170 is 4 x 3. You should only use a DV 4 x 3 preset. It will always show the black borders top and bottom, because the PD-170 is not capable of shooting 16 x 9, it only shoots 4 x 3 and crops the top and bottom.

If you mean the built-in functionality of Adobe Reader and Adobe Flash, it's different mechanism for both.

I had the same problem (update failed for normal user, update worked for administrator, but then normal user still got asked about installing the update even though it was already done).
Following the advice on http://kb.mozillazine.org/Software_update#Software_Update_not_working_properly worked for me, in particular to remove the update-related xml files.

There are no known worms or viruses in the wild for OS X.
What is undoubtedly happening is that some windows user, who's machine is infected, has your email addy in their address book. Mass mailing worms will not only send to everyone in the infected accounts address book, but will use addresses from there to spoof the "from:" field in the sent emails.
There really is nothing you can do since it is not your machine that is the problem. It's some windows machine with your email in the address book, sending emails spoofed to appear as if they came from you.
