W520 Win 8.1 Bluetooth LED

Hi!
Is it possible to switch off Bluetooth in Windows 8.1?
Disabling it in device manager or in system settings seems not working(LED is still on).

  • Is there any way to turn my Bluetooth LED on again?

    My Bluetooth is working (send/receive).
But the Bluetooth LED indicator doesn't on.
    Anyone got the same problem?

Bluetooth Firmware's version is 299 and the software is 7kbf09ww.

I thought that too, but I am 100% sure it is not now.
I made it light on again some times, by reinstall XP and did some configure of wireless and Bluetooth.
I just can't make it light on again in the recent couple try.
I am thinking about the firmware problems.
( After I got problem with Bluetooth firmware update, some times ago. I got this problem)
Is there any way to refresh my Bluetooth firmware back to version 208?
Bluetooth is working fine. Just don't feel good about that indicator is not working.

  • T61p. Switching on wireless lights up Bluetooth LED

As the topic says, when I move the switch to turn on my wireless, the Bluetooth LED switch turns on instead. And it seems I can't enable 'roaming mode' for the wireless. I have the iwl4965 driver in my modules.

Mine is Fn+F5. But I'm in Ubuntu now, and under keyboards, it doesn't have the IBM T61 keyboard layout, only the generic one. In Windows, pressing Fn+F5 should bring up Access Connections, but since I didn't install it, it won't work. This is a very odd problem, because of all the times of dual booting and installing OSes, this is the first time it happened.
In ubuntu, it also turns on the bluetooth rather than the wireless

  • W520 Win 8.1 - Would freeze up off dock

TIme fly's when you are having fun. I love my two year old W520:
    Intel Core i7-2760QM
    2 Samsung 520 256g SSD in Raid 0
    1 Samsung 530 1t SSD msata
I took up MS with their $30 Win 8 upgrade, and subsequent 8.1.  I do miss the power management utility that Win 7 had, but I'm good with the Win 8.1 thing ( except for that **bleep** kb2919355 that log jammed my windows update for a few weeks, but was able to get it to update).
Everything worked great at my dock, but when I removed it, to use it on my lap (it is a laptop, right?), It would freeze up. The pointer pad would not respond, and the trak pointer would still be able to point, but clicking on things would give me no response. Powercycle was the only way back.
I dreaded a reload from scratch ordeal, and I was stumped, after searching online. What in the world was the issue?
I tried turning on and off peripherals, and suspected my intel video driver. No luck.
In the course of troubleshooting, I pulled the W520 off the dock, and placed it on my desk. It worked fine. I then picked up the laptop and placed it on my lap. Crash and burn. What the hell? Is there something loose in the unit?
Poke and hope, and then I saw the icon on the control panel for “Lenono – Airbag Protection”, I saw that it was enabled with the highest setting for Shock Detection Sensitivity….
I disabled it, and guess what?
I now have a laptop that can be used as a laptop, and I didn’t have to try a dreadful OS / system reload!
I hope this story may help somebody out there!

Yup, SSD's don't need the Airbag Protection app like the older HD's. That was the first thing I uninstalled when I upgraded my W520 to SSD.

  • W520 Win 10 Legacy app freezes

After Win 10 upgrade from win 7, one app freezes on startup.Worked fine on Win 7 and currently works on a Win 10 Dell desktopWorks fine in safe mode also. Any issues known with Lenovo drivers or apps in Windows 10 ? ThanksPAA55112

The W520 isn't officially supported by Lenovo for Windows 10.
You might want to try a clean install of Windows 10, instead of an in-place upgrade.
As for drivers, Lenovo won't issue updates explicitly for the W520, but you can use generic drivers for Intel/NVIDIA/Realtek/etc. components. As for ThinkPad specific drivers/utilities, you can probably use the Windows 10 drivers/utilities for newer (W530 is the closest one) machines just fine.

  • Bluetooth LED notification bug on 8130

I have also had the problem with Bluetooth connections dropping when the LED notification is disabled.  Does anyone know if RIM is aware of this problem and will fix it?  At night in the car it's extremely distracting.

I don't have a PIN lock set up, but still LED notifications for missed calls don't work on my Pre (GSM, o2 Germany), not even after waking up the screen. At least if I only have one missed call. Strangely enough, as soon as I have a second missed call, the LED starts to blink.
My guess is it has to do with the way the phone notifies about missed calls. With only one missed call I don't see a normal notification at the bottom of the screen, but a question dialog with two buttons "call back" and "close". Maybe the phone doesn't treat this as a real notification which would trigger the LED.
As soon as a second call comes in and is not answered, the first missed call notification becomes a real one-line notification at the bottom and the second call gets this question dialog, so maybe this is what triggers the LED notification. But I'm just guessing.
Anyway, this is really annoying. I can't understand why things like these are not found and fixed during testing of the update, this is pretty basic stuff, not any extraordinary user behavior.

  • Yoga 13 Win 8.1 Bluetooth not working

I can't get my Yoga to recognise any BT devices. I have driver version 1.3.639.3 dated 1/9/2012. I downloaded an update otwb33ww.exe version 3.757.754.082313 but when I install it, I get eventually get a dialog saying "Confirm that  Bluetooth is enabled on your system. Plug in your device and click 'OK'. I switch on my BT headphones, click OK and get a message saying "Reeltek Bluetooth is not installed on your system". Then have to restart and end up back with the old driivers.
    What am I doing wrong?
UPDATE: Just noticed I can connect to my iPhone but still not my Plantronics headphones...
    Solved!

I am having a problem with the bluetooth on my yoga 13, since updating to Windows 8.1.  It does not seem to recognize any buetooth devices.  i have installed the latest drivers from the Lenovo site for the Realtek device.  I confirmed that the other bluetooth devices work with another laptop.
I've turned the power management feature off for the bluetooth, wi-fi and all usb devices, as these were recommended in another post.
I would love to get my Microsoft Bluetooth Notebook Mouse 5000 working with this laptop again.
    Any suggestions?
    Thanks.

  • E93z Win 8.1 Bluetooth problems

Hoping someone can help provide some direction on an issue I am having with bluetooth devices for my system.
Just purchased my e93z AIO system, and immediately upgraded Windows to 8.1.
I have performed all necessary driver updates, but seem to be encountering bluetooth connectivity issues.
My system has a hard time even finding bluetooth devices, and if it even can establish a connection (most of the time it cannot), the connection is very weak. For example, if connecting my Thinkpad bluetooth laser mouse, the movement of the mouse cursor is very spotty. If I connect my bluetooth speaker, the sound skips in/out, and the connection fails shortly afterwards. (I know these two devices work well otherwise).
With all drivers updated, I am at a loss of where to go from here.

    JWBlue,
Would you mind expanding on this slightly? When you say unistall the device, would I be going into my device drivers, and unistall each item under the bluetooth area?
Before doing any of this, I would create a System Restore restore point.  If something happens, then the system can be brought back to where it was before.
    To uninstall:
    > Control Panel
    > Device Manager
    > "+" next to the device
    > Right click on the device
    > Properties
    > Driver
    > Uninstall
    > Box next to "Delete ......"
    > OK
Repeat for all devices including Bluetooth istelf.
2> Before rebooting, the devices might still be listed under Devices and Printers and should be removed.  I am not sure if uninstalling will do it, but it might not.  I would double check.
    > Control Panel
    > Devices and Printers
    > If listed, on device mouse right click
    > Remove device
    For installing Bluetooth:
The E93z has Broadcom Bluetooth.  I would try the driver directly from that site.  Sometimes the one from Lenovo might not be the latest or has additional software.
    Reboot the computer.
Run install for latest drivers for all devices.
    Does this work?

Network Card: Intel(R) WiFi Link 1000 BGN, OS: Windows 7 Professional 64-bit

  • Envy 23 all in one Win 8.1 bluetooth doesn't receive photo from phone

Trying to upload a jpg file from my phone to my windows 8.1 Envy 23 All in One via bluetooth.  The PC and phone pair up ok and phone shows it is sending.  When the phone starts sending, the PC's bluetooth device status changes from not connected to connected.  After about a minute, the phone says the transfer failed and the PC status goes back to not connected.   The phones error message says request could not be handled correctly.  Also, the bluetooth icon window doesn't ever include selections to receive file or send file.  HP Support connected remotely, reinstalled the bluetooth driver, deleted the device, paired up again, but no change with the transfer.  HP concluded it is a hardware problem and says to send the PC in for repair. (Still under warranty.)  Doesn't sound like hardware to me, and I don't want to be without my PC and possibly have to reinstall all programs and data when it returned. Thinking of getting a cable to connect directly to the PC.  Any ideas what might be wrong?

    Hi,
Open up Bluetooth settings ---> Share and make sure that box to Allow remote devices to browse, send and receive pictures, music and other files is checked. The click on Open Bluetooth Exchange Folder -->right mouse click for properties, Share and the review your exchange settings.
Check the Permissions on the above image so that your know for sure what you are allowing for transfer types etc..
It is possible that the WIFI adapter is failing during a transfer process if the software is properly setup.
Be patient and Bluetooth transfers can be slow.
You should get a notification on the PC that the file was successfully received.  Additionally, your phone should be indicating an up transfer.

  • Thinkpad W520 Win7 Bluetooth device not recognized by Windows 7

    Hello all,
Just received my Thinkpad W520 4270 CTO with bluetooth installed. It was a DOS workstation that I installed Win 7 x64 Ultimate on and I finally got all the drivers installed but the bluetooth software says there is no BT device connected to my laptop. I checked the BIOS settings and confirmed the BT is enabled. I even disabled it, saved, then enabled it to toggle. Hitting the Fn+5 combo doesn't trigger the light or any "Found New Hardware." When the laptop first boots up the BT light flashes along with the wifi light and the HDD activity light. I haven't yet been able to load another OS, but I'm downloading Arch Linux and BackTrack 5 to test to see it's possibly an OS issue.
Any thoughts or ideas would be helpful, it appears my Google-Fu has failed me as well.
EDIT: I realize the sticky about the "do not update the bluetooth drivers" but I'm not getting my bluetooth to work at all, not even being recognized by the OS as an "unknown device."
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

I figured it out. It's laughably easy. Download the keyboard hotkey drivers and install them. It'll allow you to use the Functions at the top of your keyboard, then after you restart, hit Fn+F5 and you'll get a menu to enable Bluetooth on the OS, then Win7 should detect and install the drivers for it, or you can download the ones from Lenovo's site.

  • Lenovo Yoga Tab 2 1051L. Bluetooth keyboard not working after WIN 10 upgrade

Hello, Today upgradet my Lenovo Yoga Tab 2 1051L from win 8.1 to win 10 and bluetooth keyboard is not detecting any more. 1. Does any one already upgradet to win 10 on LeonovoYoga Tab 2 to win 10 ?2. Is anyone having similar issue ?3. Any suggestion at this point ?  Thank you in advance!

I have yet to upgrade on my 1051.
Looks like Lenovo uploaded new drivers for windows 10.

Have you update to these drivers?
Looks like there is a bios update as well.
    Side note:
    I have upgraded to 10 on another tablet(stream 7)
Once everything was updated and I gave it time to settle in I had no issues.

  • Z60t, no display on startup, no working LED's except side one and bluetooth, no loading of OS.

    Hi all,
Sorry to make my first post a question, just got a really tricky question and navigating the lenovo website doesn't easily provide me with a support email/field.
I have used this laptop without fault for approx. 2 years, but it no longer boots. When the power on button is pressed, no lights other than bluetooth led is active. There is also a green led active by the side of the optical drive (near the rear USB port). The sound of the hard drive being active (spinning) can be heard, as well as occasional access. The screen only shows the IBM logo briefly (bottom left, approx 3cm/30mm high font) and then becomes blank. When plugged into an external monitor, there is no picture. Attempts to access the BIOS (via the F1 key at boot-up) are unsuccessful as the screen is too dim to view.
I look forward to any suggestions. It's pretty annoying if I can't repair/diagnose my own laptop when I work in an IT department!
    Cheers,
    Chris

    @christillis:
Let's try one last thing here, before I start sounding like the voice of doom and gloom:
Remove the battery, hard and media drives, unplug the AC adapter. Press the "power" button 10 times in a row, holding it down for 10 seconds each time, and 30 seconds the last time around.
Plug the AC adapter back and try to power on.
Good luck and let us know.

    Hi,
I removed windows vista that came preinstalled and installed a windows xp sp2. I downloaded the bluetooth drivers for my version ie. 3000 N200 0769 BBG. But the bluetooth is not being detected. The bluetooth LED is always off (Only the WLAN LED is green). I tried to install drivers from broadcom site also. But, installation is not proceeding as it cannot detect any hardware. Bluetooth was working properly on windows vista. So i dont think it is any harware issue.
