W520-Windows 8, drivers not detected

Hi all,
I just made a fresh Win 8 Enterprise install on a W520 (Samsung 830 SSD drive).
I immediately installed and run the System Update 5.0 utilty, but only a handful of drivers were detected!
For instance, no NVIDIA, no Camera, no Trackpad, no chipset... nothing. None of the Fn+function work, no Power Manager, Wifi, etc...
Is this normal?
I could manually install all the missing drivers, however I still hope to do it through the System Update utility!
Please help!
Thanks,
Ale

I have experienced the same thing here when upgrading to Windows 8 Enterprise 64-bit. However, most of the necessary drivers where found automatically during installation. Some driver versions do not match those in the Driver Matrix, but everything seems to be working fine thus far. Dual display and Nvidia Optimus are all behaving properly.

Windows 7 will not detect the wireless adapter on my Dell D610 laptop
    Any workaround?

hey guys.... i believe i have some light for you all. I gave my daughter a D610 which came pre-installed with Linux (ubuntu). She did not like it so i loaded windows 7 and guess what? no wifi.
Unknown Device listed on device manager. to make the story short, after almost returning the laptop and spending 2 days looking for drivers everywhere I decided to reload Ubuntu because the wifi always worked. Then going a little deeper inside linux hardware
specs I listed all the hardware using the command lshw from linux shell and what shows up as wifi interface? Atheros AR5001x.
Problem was almost solved. The adventure now was find the driver for Atheros AR5001x that worked for windows 7. And now just to finish this story even faster, the diver is xp32-5.1.1.9.
Unfortunately after downloading the driver I did not save the website. I have the file with me if you need.
Just send me a message and i will be more than happy to email it to you.
    Happy New Year for all!!!!

  • Windows 8 is not detecting my VIXIA HF M40 Camcorder

Windows 8 is not detecting my VIXIA HF M40 Camcorder. I wonder if anyone else have the same problem.
I did install the latest version of CameraWindow (i.e.CameraWindow DC 8.8 for Windows) software and I tried to run it manually but it complains that it is not able to detect my (connected) VIXIA HF M40 Camcorder. CameraWindow is able to see my G10 Camera though.
Does this mean that VIXIA HF M40 Camcorder cannot be used with Windows 8??? This will be terrible!
    Please help!

    Hi Arabed,
I'm sorry to hear that you're unable to transfer your still images from your VIXIA HF M40 to your computer.  (For videos, please ensure that you're using the "Pixela Transfer Utility", included with your camcorder).
Have you been able to transfer still images from your camcorder before?
Have you received any error messages with regard to the connection itself?

  • What is SMbus? What do I miss if the OS (Windows 7) does not detect it?

This weekend I tried the public beta of Windows 7 and all hardware in my PC is detected except the ICH10 SMBus controller of my P45 Neo 3 FR mainboard.
What does the SMBus do? What functionality do I miss if the OS does not detect it? (or rather: detects it, but offers no drivers)
Would it be safe to use the brand new "all OS" Intel Inf (9.1.0.1028 WHQL) drivers in Windows 7?

You could DL the INF Update Utility from intel....once downloaded and extracted you will see a folder in it called "all"
    http://downloadcenter.intel.com/Detail_Desc.aspx?agr=Y&ProductID=816&DwnldID=16026&strOSs=163&OSFullName=Windows Vista*&lang=eng
Goto control panel>device manager than click on SM bus controller properties...update driver manually and point it to the folder called "all"
It will go thro the folder an find your proper driver
this thread should probally be moved to the W7 section

I have a Creative Sound Blaster Audigy 2 sound card. I used the autoupdate tool for drivers, and it found two critical downloads: one was for the wave studio or control panel or something like that, and it downloaded and installed properly. The second was the most recent driver for the sound card which the autoupdate recognized and suggested the driver for. After downloading it I tried to install it, but it said that it did not recognize or find my soundcard. Why? How can this be fixed so I can get the most recent drivers? Please help.thanks.

  • Windows 7 will not detect mouse and keyboard during first log in (BOOT CAMP)

    1. If your Registry was corrupted during the uninstall/crash, you can run into issues. Do you have a Windows backup (not a Time Machine backup) that you can restore to.
    2. You can first attempt a startup repair, and may have to rebuild your BCD. If the programs you were installing had associated HW, depending on your Windows version, you may need to use bootrec.exe. There is a MS article about it.
    3. You may end up reinstalling bootcamp drivers (not Windows), to regain trackpad/keyboard functionality.
    4. If Windows does come up and you cannot use the built-in keyboard/trackpad, please try a wired USB keyboard/mouse to see if that works.

  • U330 Windows 7 Drivers Not Working

    Hello,
I have recently been in the process of updating all of my drivers on my u330-2267EU to the latest Windows 7 versions. I had been waiting for this update to the drivers site for some time since I was able to get Windows 7 installed before the Oct 22nd release. I am running Windows 7 64bit and I am running into some trouble with these newest drivers not working correctly.
u330 Driver Download Site (Using Win 7 64bit Versions): http://consumersupport.lenovo.com/en/DriversDownloads/drivers_list.aspx?CategoryID=16
Switchable Graphics: there are 2 new Windows 7 drivers related to video that I downloaded. One referring to the discrete ATI graphics card, and the other to the Intel Graphics Media Accelerator. After installing both of these, setting BIOS for Switchable Graphics, and running the Switchable Graphics program from the desktop after bootup, brings up the desired menu with the option to switch from power saving gpu to the high performance gpu. When I click the "high performance gpu" button, the screen flickers and fades to black momentarily as it should, but when the screen returns and after waiting for a few minutes no switch is made, it just stays in the powersaving gpu. Suggestions?
Power Management Software: I also downloaded Lenovo's Energy Management Windows 7 driver for the u330. After installing the software I was initially able to bring up the menu to change power options, but the options that I chose would not make any apparent changes. Actually, after installing the program, it made my screen incapable of changing its brightness using the "function + arrow" button combination. Also, no longer when i change my default power windows power options will it adjust my screen brightness. It just stays the same no matter what. The only way that I can now change the brightness of my screen is by going into the graphics settings of the Intel GMA and change the settings there, but that is a completely horrible way of having to do that.
So there you have it, after all this waiting I still dont have the ability to utilize the switchable graphics nor properly use the Lenovo Power Management software. Oh yea, and I still cant adjust the brightness of my screen. I have re-downloaded and re-installed these drivers many times to try to get them to work correctly, but so far no luck.
I would greatly appreciate any help on the subject or at least have the knowledge that someone at Lenovo has noticed these problems and a fix is coming soon
    thanks!

  • ITunes V12.1.2.27 on Windows 8 does not detect iPhone 6 with IOS v8.3

    Hello there,
It all began when I installed the latest IOS 8.3 and iTunes V12.1.2.27. iTunes simply does not detect my iPhone 6 any longer, but it does detect my old iPod mini. Everything used to be working just fine until the software update was done.
I've run thru all the steps on the Apple support page and spent over an hour on the phone with customer support. Checked the Apple mobile device driver, deinstalled iTunes, reinstalled iTunes, changed connecting cables etc etc. Nothing works!!
    Help!
    LES

exact same issue. And I can be TOTALLY sure it is related to the update since I was at the birthday party of my little nephew taking photo and everything were just fine. Then my brother asked me if I had already updated my iPhone. I said no and then I updated it while I was still there. From the moment the phone ended the update, I ended taking photos... The update screwed the camera focus mechanism somehow. I'm trying to downgrade to 8.1.3 and see if it will be back to normal. In this case it is a software issue, otherwise it will be a hardware failure caused by the update. I'm dowloading 8.1.3 ipsw right now.
