W530/Realtek HD Audio - Disabled Microphone, Can't Get it Back

I accidentally disabled the built-in microphone in Control Panel/Sound/Recording/Microphone Properties. Now it's gone entirely, and I can't figure out how to get it back. I checked the BIOS/security/I/O Port Access/Microphone setting, but it's still enabled there. What should I do? Related question -- Is there a similar place to disable (and re-enable!) the built-in camera? -- JCW2

Those should stay. They will disappear in Device Manager if you disable in BIOS though.

I have been talking with apple about losing Siri when I download iOS 7. They had me disabled it. I go to setting now on the iPad and it just shows locate my iPad. Went I go to my iPhone 5 with iOS 7 it just shows me to locate my iPhone. Both are on. This ios7 has gotten me mixed up. Thanks

First try a Reset ( No Data will be Lost )
Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button at the same time for at least Ten seconds... (But can take Longer)... until the Apple logo appears. Release the Buttons
If no joy... Try a Restore...
1: Connect the device to Your computer and open iTunes.
2: If the device appears in iTunes, select and click Restore on the Summary pane.

Copy all of your music from your backup copy of your old computer to your new one.
If for some reason you have failed to maintain a backup copy, then you can redownload some itunes purchases in some countries.

[SOLVED]Installed XFCE, now have a disabled display, can't get it back

First thing I tried to do after installing XFCE was change the screen res to match my monitor. The display dialog had two screens showing - one labeled 'laptop', and the other 'Viewsonic bla'. As this is not a laptop, and my screen is indeed the Viewsonic bla, I unchecked the 'Use this display' option next to 'Laptop'.
My screen then went black, and will not come back. There was no countdown 'Do you want to keep these settings' dialog, although I guess there might have been (the screen was blank) and possibly I accidentally told it 'yes' in my blind flailings. What I meant to do was press Esc, but I may have pressed some button previously that activated a 'Yes' option. Or maybe there is no double-check dialog at all! Either way, I can't get XFCE to show up any more. Rebooting the machine doesn't work - the screen just shuts down saying 'No signal'
To fix this I've decided to reinstall XFCE. Is it enough to just run pacman -S xfce4 again, or is there another command line option to do a reinstall? Also, what about config files? I can see no dot files or directories in my home folder that could be XFCE related. Thanks.

On my machine, there are XFCE related settings stored in ~/.config/xfce4 and ~/.config/xfce4-session etc

Accidentally Disabled Account & Can't Get It Back

Wondering if anyone has any ideas on this...
I accidentally disabled (by un-checking the box that says enable account) one of my Mobile Accounts in Workgroup Manager while that Mobile Account was logged in. Not knowing this yet... the next day I went to use that Mobile Account and I could not unlock it from it's screensaver with the username/password that would normally work. I unlocked it with the local administrator account that is also set up on that workstation and restarted. Once the machine restarted and the login window appeared the Mobile Account was not listed like it normally had been. This is when I checked Workgroup Manager on my server and noticed that I had accidentally disabled the account. I re-enabled the account (by checking the box that says enable account) and clicked the save button. I then went back to the client workstation and attempted to login, but was unsuccessful. I've tried restarting the computer various time, changing the home directory path in Workgroup Manager from "Home" to "None & then back again without any change. The login icon does not appear on the login screen on the client workstation and clicking on other and typing in the username/password does not work. I have even tried the shortname instead. I've logged into the Local Administrator account on the workstation and checked the users folder... the home directory is still there. The workstation is still talking to the sever as I've checked directory utility and the network settings... everything is the same.
Does anyone know how I can get this account working again, am I missing something?

Shredder is a terrible and destructive program to run on your Mac. Backup, hold down Command+R and reinstall your system using the Apple ID you originally bought it with.

Hey there tjbliven,
It sounds like you are not able to use the dictation feature of iOS 8, becuase the microphone icon is missing. It seems to me like Siri may be turned off, which would cause the icon to not be there:
Siri settings - iPhone
To set options for Siri, go to Settings > General > Siri. Options include:
Turning Siri on or off
That should get the dictation feature back for you.

Yes it does. Also, if you were using iOS 7+ and had Find my iPhone activated, you will need your apple id and password to be able to use the phone again.

You can transfer contents from your iPhone back to iTunes library:
First, *BEFORE you connect the iPhone, please go to the iTunes preferences and select "devices", then select "disable automatic syncing for iPad, iPhones and iPods"*.
Then, for those songs that you purchased on your iPhone: Transfer purchases from iPod to iTunes.
For all other non purchased contents (your photos etc), their are ton of third party programs, some is free: iDump, Floola. Some is shareware, but they does preserve playlist/ratings/playcounts/artworks etc: iCopyBot, CopyTrans

The CONTENT tab has NOTHING in it, how can I get it back to change settings?

When display switches off I can't get it back without forced restart

When display switches off due to low battery power & I can't get it back even when I plug in to the mains and have to force the PC to restart.
Is there a pref somewhere to disable this?

When the display goes off exactly? How much capacity has battery at this time? 5%? More?
Try to set this to higher level.
When you work with your notebook and battery level comes to low battery level and the alarm alert will be shown in task bar but you will be able to continue your work several minutes or to connect AC power supply.
I am afraid your notebook reaches critical battery level and then is maybe too late for any action.
Set Low battery level to 10% and when the notification is shown connect AC adapter immediately.
I presume the display must not be off at all.
