W530 sometimes do not boot / boot loop

Hey,
Since some days my W530 sometimes have some troubles at start up. It is not every time the same procedure. Often it  gets in a boot loop till, after some loops, the windows repair set up trys to repair the system (but it came to a "fail" message) After that the laptop starts normaly.
Sometimes it stays in the loop since I shut down and remove battery and AC adapter. After some loops again then the repair can bee done again. If i do not repair the system it came till windows logo and the notebook shut down with an sound of "power off"(no sound out of the speakers rather a "klick") and restart to next loop... The problem appears mostly on next start after I was using my Laptop mobile.
I did an bios update without result and complete re-instalation of windows but the problems are still there. I have the illusion that after re installing windows it is a bit better(not so often) but the problem is still there. Sometimes I need 15minutes to start up windows...
I fear it will be an Hardware failure but, the hardware scans of the solution center say everything is ok.
Anyone have an Idea what I could do?
Kind regards
Solved!
Go to Solution.

Hey, Just for Update
After some random reboots in normal usage out of win 7 the w530 was completely dead. Pushing the power button results just in a short blinking of the button.
So I called the lenovo support and on next day the mainboard gets changed and everything is working again now.
Due to that it was dfinitively a hardware failure.
Very fast and good support from lenovo!

Hi all i am steve from i have a DV6152EU
it has a fault of no wireless card showing up and also sometimes 3 beeps on boot
i am told it is a none issuse andcan be fix via HP on a free repair the laptop is about 18months old
i have tried a couple of number but they ask me if it is covered under warrenty then asks me if i would like to buy more warrenty then cuts me off
    can anyone help thanks steve

hey everyone,i am a laptop technician from glasgow.
I am new to the HP forum's but I hope to shed some light for you guys, HP DV6000 - was one badly made laptops, main issues, wirless and NVidia g/card, ass we all know the G/card symptoms are  a series of beeps upon start up, 1 long 2 short. the fix is fairly simple to those whom are brave enuff, all you need? 2 thin plates of COPPER , 1 blow torch and some processor paste basically strip the laptop down. remove the old paste on the chip marked Nvidia, clean it up real nice. use the blowtorch for about 1-2 minutes on the specific chip, front and back, place one copper strip ontop of the core on chip and the same on the other NVidia chip. but remember re-paste the chip before hand. work's everytime. as for the wirless? i have came accross this fault many of times. but for some reason not known to many the wirless card will just vanish, it is infact a startup/bios problem from the moment the power button is switched on. the wirless does infact still work, i have noticed that if you turn the laptop on, remove the wirless card and then re-slot it back on (while there is power in the laptop) it will infact start working (not advised) this is called hot plugging. i am going to check the area around the power and wirless card. to find any flaws or fault parts. ill hopefully get this fixed and as soon as i do i will let you all know.
    thanks.

  • Tecra A4 sometimes does not boot up

    Hi all!
A few months ago I dropped my Tecra A4 - silly of me, I know. The hard drive was damaged beyond repair so I bought a new one, plugged it in, and set up my notebook again, and it worked fine.
Last week, however, I went to switch it on - and it didn't. I just got the black screen BEFORE the Toshiba logo, and nothing else happened. After that, I tried reformatting, recovering, system restore, etc. and NOTHING seems to work. I can get the HD to boot up by pressing hard on the laptop, which makes me think it's a connection problem between the HDD and the motherboard, but again - no way to check.
Has anyone had any similar experience, or can offer suggestions? I'm a student so I can't really afford a new laptop.
    Thanks!

    Hi
In my opinion this malfunction is a result of the notebook dropping.
Who knows what can be damage. Everything looks like something wrong with the motherboard but maybe its only a little, tiny part which makes such trouble.
However, the fault can be found only by a notebook technician. Therefore I would recommend contacting the service provider in your country for an check.
By the way; did you try to remove the battery and to disconnect the AC adaptor for a while? Not? Well, I would recommend doing this.
Remove the battery, disconnect AC adaptor and wait several minutes (about 20min). Then connect everything again and try to boot the unit.
    Maybe it helps.

  • HELP: MacPro sometimes not booting when powered up... Why?

My 3 year old Mac Pro (2.66 dual-core Intel Xeon processors) sometimes will not boot on powering up. The fans will whir like normal and the gong will sound but then nothing but a white screen... no hard drive noise... like the HD has not been triggered to boot... every time I push the power button to off... everything shuts down... then I immediately push the power button again same sequence and sounds... but this time the drive starts making its normal sounds and the machine boots properly.
I don' think it's the drive itself... but I'm wondering if it might be a drive controller that's going South.
Anyone seen anything like this happen before?

Then you have been cleaning it of dust, taking it out, making sure it isn't clogged; and probably running the fans @ 900 rpm (3 of the 4 anyway).
Could be X1900. Wait and see if 5770 is an option, otherwise the ATI 4870s work fine.
IF you can run Apple Hardware Test off your OEM DVD it came with ('D' on startup) and it is just the video card.
Might also play RAM-Riser tag and try with just one set of RAM and swapping Risers, looking for red light etc.

  • IPhone 5 6.1.4 newest software and endless boot loop... I restored, removed SIM, nothing worked. Help me!

    Hi Everybody!
My iPhone 5 restarts every 3 minutes... Sometimes more, sometimes less. Boot loop. I restored, I removed the SIM card, I tried everything what I read on forums. The battery life goes down so quickly. I bought 5 months ago. What can I do?

  • Ipod Stuck in "boot Loop" and itunes says I'm not connected to the internet.

Aright well I'm having a huge problem fixing my ipod.    Let's start at the beginning, i wanted to put new music onto my ipod but itunes wasn't detecting my ipod, it said i have to restore my ipod to factory settings, so i manually did it from the ipod it's self.   When it started to boot up again it just froze at the apple logo. and the loading wheel is stuck. after some research i found out that its called "boot loop" and the only way to fix this is to restore it from itunes itself.
sounds simple enough,  so i go ahead and connect the ipod to itunes and try to restore it (via DFU mode) The restore wont happen because it says im not connected to the Internet, when clearly i am.      So in a nutshell..   in order to restore my ipod.. i need to get itunes to recognize that I'm connected to the Internet.
I've done everything i can think of,   make sure my firewall isn't interfering and itunes is enabled.  The Internet proxy is what it needs to be.  Ive uninstalled and reinstalled itunes.   I actually chatted with a apple tech and he couldn't seem to help me out.
If anyone can help me or has been in this situation and know's exactly what to do.   please let me know.. it would be greatly appericated

That was the first thing I tried..what the site told me, but its still telling me I'm not connected to the internet when I am. Should I just delete everything by hand. Like I said I wanted to take it back and upgrade to the 80 gig ipod.

  • Sometimes iMac will not boot up

hey guys i have been having this on going problem for about a week now. Ok so here's what's happening, this usually happens at night. It seems that my iMac will not boot up, I have my computer put to sleep when I go to sleep and I can wake it up again in the morning. Now when I go out in the evening today for example, I just got home, woke my computer up and everything seemed fine. After a little bit my computer froze so, I restarted it and it will not boot up it would get stuck on the gray screen, sometimes the apple and the spinning thing under it (not the beach ball one) would show up and sometimes I would have just a grey screen. Over the past week I've tried the following:
    Reset the Pram
Booted up from the installation cd.
Removed all the cords waited for a couple min. then tried again
Eventually I can boot up, However I am very concerned to what the problem might be.
O yea I also ran a permission repair
One final thing if knows how to protect macs with an anti virus or something similar, it would really help me out.
    Thanks

    Hi Karim
The symptoms you describe could be caused by bad RAM.
Follow this link to learn about testing memory.
With your iMac you should have received an Apple Hardware Test CD, if not it's included on the Installation DVD (it would state that written somewhere on the DVD). There's also a RAM test included, but it isn't as dependable as memtest (mentioned in the link above) in my experience.
Follow this link to learn how to start the Apple Hardware Test.
    Kind regards

  • My Macbook Pro will not boot up. I can hear the sound that it has started and then goes into an infinite loop.

My Macbook Pro will not boot up. I can hear the sound that it has started and then it goes into an infinite loop.

What model MBP and which version of OS X? Sounds as if the hard drive may have failed. If you have an installation disc, try booting with it. If your machine came with Lion or Mountain Lion, try booting to the Recovery partition - Command and R keys held down while booting.

  • HELP!!! MBA will not boot. It's in a constant "reboot loop!"

Hi! I was having issues with my MBA and it's well known problem with getting a bit hot and shutting down the core etc. One post mentioned coolbook. Several peole gave it the thumbs up so I decided to give it a try. Installed it and was asked to restart. Now my MBA is in a constant reboot loop and will not start-up. it gets as far as the gray screen with the Apple logo and the spinning wheel. Then about a minute or so later it reboots. And this goes on and on forever. The MBA is now insanely hot and I have turned the MBA off not to cause any damage.
I can not boot in safe mode.
    Any ideas??
    Thanks!!

thanks for the views, but seems nobody wanted to help. cheers for that!
i managed to reboot using the OS X DVD and reinstalling. Now I have an eject symbol in my system bar top right corner and my superdrive will not "eject". this means I can not use the USB for anything else. meanwhile I ejected the OS X DVD from the drive and tried to reinsert it. NADA.
Getting to the point where I am fed up with the MBA. It gets so hot I could fry an egg on it. The system must be running something in the background, becasue even with a new install it still is slow and stutters (and no, I did not start you tube!) either this is from a real crappy batch, or I looked at it the wrong way.
Looks like I am heading back to the MBpro.

  • Why can I (sometimes) not boot until running AHT?

Apologies for the strangely worded question - I'm very confused by this issue.
I have a 15-inch early 2011 MBP. I've added a Vertex 4 SSD as the primary boot drive, keeping the stock HD as a second drive, and upgraded the ram to 2x4gb. Everything else is standard.
Recently I started having problems with OSX freezing and shutting down, sometimes not booting back up successfully - I put it down to some dodgy graphics drivers I'd installed (was running very hot and I suspect overheating) so I backed up my user files and did a full reinstall. It seemed to be OK since then.
Today I had problems again - I think after the battery ran out while I was using it (I don't know if this is related). It shut down and I'd get a grey screen indefinitely when I rebooted, and I just couldn't get back into OSX. These are the things I tried, roughly in the order I tried them:
Performing a safe boot - I'd get the Apple logo and slider, which would progress roughly two thirds of the way in, then I'd get a blue screen
Performing a verbose safe boot - unresponsive grey screen
Booting from local recovery disk - unresponsive grey screen
Resetting NVRAM - made no difference
Resetting SMC - made no difference
Booting to single user mode and running fsck until it comes back clean (no 'volume was modified' message) and restarting - no difference
Trying to isolate any hardware problems - swapping out RAM, disconnecting secondary drive etc - no luck
Finally - running network AHT (opt+D on startup) This didn't find any problems, but seemed to solve whatever problem I was having. I restarted after this and OSX came back up as if nothing had been happening.
So my questions are these - I'd appreciate any insight even if they're not complete answers, because I can't figure out what's going on.
What did AHT do that fixed my problem?
Does that point to a hardware issue, even though the test came back OK?
What can I do to prevent it happening again?
    Thanks!

    Thanks,
Does this excerpt from the system log help? It seems to represent a (failed)boot attempt.
There's a couple of things at the bottom that look a bit suspicious, but I don't know how to interpret them - ERROR: smcReadData8 failed for key B0PS and activation bcstop timer fired!

  • M4 SSD 256GB 2.5 inch sometimes not booting on Sony Vaio VGN-FZ11E

I installed a Crucial m4 SSD 256GB 2.5 inch on the Sony Vaio laptop VGN FZ11E using the kit provided. The operating system used is Windows Vista. The drive worked great the first time I booted the laptop, but since the second booting the system sometime stops while booting and I have to force the computer to restart till at some points it works (which can be after 1, 2, 3, 4 or even more attempts). The computer starts and the drive works for the first 10 seconds or so, then when the WLAN light of the laptop comes up, it stops working (no hard disk light). I have installed the last firmware, checked the drivers and made sure that the m4 drive is recognised and prioritized in the BIOS (this is the only drive installed, and it has a partition which is hidden). I have done a Power Cycle as recomended on the Crucial website, but this did not solve the problem. Any suggestions?

Hi, I have the same issue you are describing, with "Operating system not found", not the one laurentzo says. My VAIO VGN-FE11H with BIOS R0174J3 gets stuck at this point, and that happens many times with this version of BIOS. With version R0074J3 also happened, but I have the perception that it was less usual. Anyway, I tried to upgrade my BIOS because the failure is unacceptable, and 8 of 10 times I can´t boot my laptop because the disk is not recognised, despite the fact that when it boots, everything works perferctly. My BX100 250GB firmware is MU02, and my situation is quite desperating, because the workaround that you suggest isn't working.Would you please update this firmware, or would you know any BIOS parameter that could make it boot at least half of the times??P.S.: I have also tried enabling AHCI on BIOS, etc.

Unfortunately, you can't restore an iCloud backup without using wifi so that isn't an option.

my iphone 4s is stuck in a boot loop and wont restore, the error code will differ from time to time, they will be either error '21' or '3194' not jailbroken either! any help?

    Hi TPM007,
Thanks for visiting Apple Support Communities.
If your device is in recovery mode (showing the connect to iTunes screen), first try resetting it:
To reset, press and hold both the Sleep/Wake and Home buttons for at least 10 seconds, until you see the Apple logo.
    From:
Turn your iOS device off and on (restart) and reset

Next, try the troubleshooting method in this article before restoring your iPhone again:

  • IMac will not boot, hard drive file problem? Can't install OS in 2nd part.

The iMac will not boot. The Apple displays on the screen, the cursor spins for awhile, and then it loops into a reboot effort.
Last night, I was doing a lot of custom file sharing settings using the include enclosed folders option at the bottom of the Get Info window.
Question 1: Could that file sharing process have messed things up?
In an effort to get things going........ A few weeks back, I used Disk Utility to create a 2nd partition, with the intent of installing Ubuntu Linux there. I never attempted the install, as far as I can remember, while playing with the Ubuntu Live CD. So, I thought I would install 10.5.6 from the CD in the 2nd partition. But I get an error message that says "The installer could not create the folder "/Volumes/Ubuntu 9.10/BaseSystem.pkg.161nDNDdQ.""
Question 2: I also shared that partition, could that have caused the OS install failure?
Question 3: If I understand the book correctly, I can try to install the OS from the CD on the 1st partition, and not lose my data, correct? Unfortunately, I don't have any backup for the data, as I don't own any drives large enough yet to accommodate the data on the drive.
Question 4: Anyone have any other thoughts as to what ent wrong?

    Hi, Grant.
Sometimes, it just pays to think on a problem. I awoke thinking, if it will boot the OS X install CD, it ought to boot my Ubuntu Live CD. And then, maybe I can change permissions on the first partition. As soon as I thought that, it occurred to me, if the problems are with the permissions, what if I used the OS X disk, and erased (formatted) the Ubuntu partition. That should set all the permissions on that partition back to default. Would OS X install then to the Ubuntu partition?
You better believe it did!! I'm typing this from the Mac after updating my 10.5.6 to 10.5.8 in the 2nd partition, and I'm booting from the 2nd partition.
I then did as you suggested, and from the Mac, I repaired the permissions to the first partition. But, the result was the same, there are a few permissions that do not match, and Disk Utility cannot, does not, or will not correct them.
I'm currently downloading the 10.5.8 combo update .dmg file. My thought is to burn that to a disk, and then install it over the version in partition 1. And trust that the current installation on partition 1 does not have any cross linked files that will destroy some data.
I do have some old ATA IDE drives I can hook externally to the Mac, and copy some of the information I have from the Mac to those drives before doing the 10.5.8 install.
Can you think of a better solution?
