W530 Ultranav driver and middle button

Prior to the Windows 8 driver could disable the Ultranav functionality for the middle button and this would then enable the default Windows functionality for the middle button (much better scroll options).
With the new Windows 8 driver it seems the ability to disable this has been removed
Is there a way to still disable the Ultranav middle button and use Windows default?

Search. Read my post: http://forums.lenovo.com/t5/Windows-8/TouchPad-drivers-with-Windows-8-gesture-and-middle-button/td-p...
Cheers.
If I helped you, please give me some kudos! ^^

    Hello Lola51,
I would be concerned as well if my iPod was unresponsive.  I found a resource that I think would help in a situation like this.

  • Ultranav Driver and X220t

    Hi,
I installed this driver (http://support.lenovo.com/en_US/downloads/detail.page?&DocID=DS027686) in the Windows 8 Release Preview but have no idea how to turn on / adjust settings (?) for touchpad gestures.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks,
    Al

WindowsKey then type "mouse" and all of the ultranav stuff is in there.
Your link didn't work. Was that the Win8 beta driver from Windows 8 Beta Drivers http://support.lenovo.com/en_US/downloads/detail.page?DocID=HT072084 ?

  • Trackpoint and UltraNav driver

    Hello,
I am using a ThinkPad T60 with Windows XP SP3 as operating system. On the homepage I found the following different drivers and utilities related to the TrackPoint and theTouchPad:
    TrackPoint Accessibility Driver
    UltraNav Driver
    UltraNav Utility
    UltraNav Wizard
The TrackPoint Accessibility Driver and the UltraNav Wizard are not updated since 2006, the UltraNav Driver and the UltraNav Utilitywere updated some times (last in 2008).
Do I need tto install all of them, or can I ignore some of them (preferably the older ones) without loosing functionnalit?
    Michele

I have the exact same question, prior to UltraNav driver installation, you can simply Tap-to-click while using the Trackpoint. After installing the driver, you MUST click down on the Clickpad to send a click while using the Trackpoint. This is such a simple software solution that has seriously made me regret my decision to by a newer Thinkpad. The new xx50 series Clickpad is interchangeable with the xx40 series but I am not spending nearly 70$ to solve a simple software problem!
I recall that back in the days of the X200/X201 there were a decent amount of tips/tricks we could do via the registry to enable "hidden" features of the Synaptics touchpad/trackpoint combo. Is there a similar "hack" we could do to enable the tap-to-click functionality while using the Trackpoint?

  • Middle Button Stuck In.  Any Ideas?

    Hey,
I've had my iPod (30 GB Video) for about a year now, and recently the middle button has become stuck in. It still is functional for playing music, I just have to push it in really hard, but it is quite annoying that my very expensive piece of equipment has already started to die after only 1 year of use. And, also, it is important to note that I have not once dropped this iPod, and it is constantly in a plastic case (the case does not cover the wheel and middle button though). Anyway, has this happened to anyone else? And if so, what did you do to remedy the problem? I assume Apple will do nothing to fix this, so I am relying on any answers I can get here to help me out. Thanks a lot for reading. Have a nice Labor Day Weekend.
    ~Psymin

This is how I fixed this problem on my 3rd Generation 20GB iPod. I don't know if this will work on your model iPod, but you might as well try it.
First, open the case of the iPod. You can find information on how to do this on Google. Once you have the case open, try the button. If the button now works with the case open, continue on.
Inside my iPod, the battery is crammed against the button, and the hard drive is crammed against the battery. It is this jamming together of the hard drive, battery, and button mechanism that is causing the button to be stuck in.
In between the hard drive and the battery, there is foam padding, about 1/8" thick. Pull off as much of the padding as you can. Then take a small screwdriver and scrape off the remaining padding, being careful not to damage the hard drive.
Once you have removed the foam padding, put the iPod back together. The button should now work.

  • W530 hard drive height?

    I just bought this w530:
    http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834312665CVF
I also bought a 7mm ssd to swap with the hard drive.
I've taken out the w530 hard drive, and tried fitting the rails to the ssd however its not as tight a fit as it is on the hard drive. I'm unsure as to whether this means the hard drive is 7mm or 9.5mm though, because the difference isn't that great.
How can I find out for sure what size my hard drive is, and therefore if the rails will fit my 7mm ssd, or if I need to get new rails for 7mm drives.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

After transferring the metal encasing over from the HDD to the SSD it fits perfectly.

  • Ultranav Driver Not Installing

    Hello,
My touchpad has not been working for over a month. It just stopped working one day. I have already verified that it is not locked. I have tried to reinstall the ultranav driver and my lenovo support center had an ultranav update but whenever I go through the download process and even restart my computer the driver will not show up as installed. i have also uninstalled my synaptic driver in case this was the source of error. Anybody know why the ultranav driver is not installed? I really need my touchpad to work so I'm not doomed to carrying out a mouse (it looks quite silly...)

    @Tonya2015...
Please tell us which ThinkPad model you have. Also, are you showing any items in Device Manager with "!" ?

  • Trackpoint + middle button dragging still not working in Ultranav 16.2.19.2 driver

Trackpoint + dragging is still not working with the Ultranav middle button as of 16.2.19.2 driver.
It's an extremely important function for any 3D graphics program. With the Lenovo driver it's not possible to use the middle button + trackpoint to navigate in these programs!
Lenovo, please fix this bug. It's working perfectly if I install the latest Synaptics driver. It's only happening with Lenovo's driver. Using Synaptics driver is not an option, because it has no guard against keyboard typing + touchpad accidental clicking.
    Test:
    Testing is very easy.
    1. Set your middle button behaviour to "None".
    2. Above an empty area of your desktop, click the middle button + try to move the mouse pointer with your trackpoint. The pointer isn't moving! It's the same thing what happens in any 3D graphics program! You cannot navigate your camera, unless you use an external mouse!
    Fix:
Please fix it. Just don't stop the trackpoint pointer when someone clicks the middle button in "None" settings.
System: Using a W520 for the reference.

Yes, the latest driver from Synaptics doesn't have this bug. So if you uninstall UltraNav driver from Lenovo and install the latest one from Synaptics, it will work with 3 buttons.
But the behaviour of the Synaptics is annoying for an other reason: it has no feature to stop the touchpad while you are typing. Normally you'd never notice it with the Lenovo one, but with Synaptics, you'll go crazy with the accidental scrolls and clicks. But at least it works with 3 buttons.
Lenovo, can you confirm that you understand this bug? Please fix it in one of the future versions!

  • Restoring "Middle Button Click" with the newest Windows UltraNav drivers (X220)

    Hi Everyone,
I see that some changes were made to the TrackPoint in the newest UltraNav drivers package -- namely, there are no more customized options for stick scrolling with the TrackPoint. Is there any way to reset the middle button to perform a middle click rather than stick scrolling?
I see that the Registry options are in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Synaptics, but there are so many options! Is there anyone out there who can help me with this?
    Thanks in advance!
Side note: I considered the older UltraNav driver, but that doesn't have the Windows 8 charm bar feature. I also considered the latest driver from the Synaptics website, but it doesn't have the "prioritize for trackpoint" option and I feel that the palm rejection is inferior to that provided by the Lenovo one.
Side note #2: My main reason for requesting this is to improve the scrolling experience with my ThinkPad. I've been able to optimize my touchpad scrolling with a modified version of TwoFingerScroll, and really need to do the same with my trackpoint. For the trackpoint in Windows 7, I liked DragToScroll, which I feel provides more sensitive scrolling than the one in the UltraNav driver in most applications.

    Hi, hendhess
I'm not sure about fixing the issue through the registry, though I did find two threads on this issue that may be able to help you solve the issue. There's this one started by zsero that has some suggestions and the like. There is also this thread which is linked from zsero's. According to some, if every former Synaptics driver is removed and then the new one is installed, the middle-click functionality is restored, though this isn't universal.
    Hope it helps,
    Adam

  • Middle button scrolling stopped working after Synaptics driver updates. (3rd gen, Windows 10)

It seems that the new driver released in 3/17/2015 by Synaptics has issues with middle button.
And it doesn't even list middle button in its panel. I can't find a proper feedback entrance on Synaptics' sites so I hope posting here would help. (Though considering a driver issue with Compact Bluetooth Keyboard doesn't get fixed in years, I don't think they would give a **bleep**. Oh why I am buying ThinkPad again!)

Same thing happened to me, but with an HP laptop. It seems that Windows 10 (at least, while in preview) does not allow you to disable automatic updates, and rolling back the driver (which solves the problem) won't help much - it will be installed again...
The only way I found how to prevent this particular update from installing is a set of PowerShell tools to control Windows Updates. I wrote about how to do it here: http://superuser.com/questions/901803/prevent-windows-10-from-installing-updating-a-specific-driver/...
    Hope this helps!

  • Newest UltraNav driver brakes native windows middle-click scrolling

I just want to report that the newest touchpad driver brakes native windows middle-click scrolling.
    What I'm talking is this:
    1. Swich off all advanced features in the TouchPoint setting to get back a middle button. BTW, how on earth it is possible that the default setting "steals" the middle button. Going for the Nr. 1. PC maker and forgetting a stupid default settings in a Synaptics driver is a joke.
    2. Now, try scrolling in any native windows application like Chrome, Firefox, etc.
The quick way of scrolling is to push the middle button while scrolling. It had always worked before.
    Now this way is broken.
Now, the only way for scrolling is to the:
    1. push middle button to enter scolling mode
    2. move mouse
    3. push again to exit scrolling mode
This scolling mode has never been a good way to scroll, but the quick way is broken with the latest driver.
    I'm using a W520 with Windows 7, 64-bit. Broken driver: Version 16.2.5.0

    same for me.
in addition, i never do BIOS updates from within a running Windows session. i always use the bootable CD method, following the instructions explicitly, and i've never had a bricked machine.
    cheers.

  • Satellite 5200-903: Problems with Fn-F5 and middle cpad button

    Hi,
i updated my Win XP Home to Win XP Pro and installed all the toshiba goodies from the Homepage. Two things don't work as expected though:
    * Fn-F5 doesn't cycle through the available monitors
    * the middle cpad button cannot be used as a middle mouse button
Don't know why Fn-F5 doesn't work, all the other Fn-Keys work as expected. They show the OSD, too. Fn-F5 doesn't show the OSD and no function :/
About the cpad button: I tried the driver from the toshiba site and from synpatics.com
The problem is: in the control panel i can choose functions for each button. The function "middle mouse button" is available for the left and the right button, but not the middle one. And it is not recognized as middle mouse button, but as PageUp.
Any ideas? The notebook is a Satellite 5200-903.
    Thanks for your help.

    Hello Ataraxis
First of all I must tell you that Satellite 5200 is a great unit. If I found one that costs not much money I will buy it.
    To your issues:
As far as I know if you want to use FN+F5 key combination you must install TOSHIBA Hotkey Utility for Display Devices V2.1.0.0-1. I hope that this tool is installed properly. If you want you can try to install it again.
I am not 100% sure but I think that this small button in the middle has no the same function like middle button as a middle mouse button and it will be used to start sPad launcher. If you want you can check it in Users manuals. I didnt read it but I hope that there you can find a proper explanation about functionality of this small button.
    Good luck!

  • W520 Trackpoint dead, pad and lower buttons OK -- Driver/Utility reinstalled

All,Trackpoint stopped showing any reaction and the "upper" three buttons under the spacebar do not work. In the UltraNav tab of the Synaptics mouse setup the Trackpoint pane is greyed out. I reinstalled the driver and "Utility" for UltraNav. Searching here and on the web -- so far no specific fix. I don't know what caused this, but I think I did try to install software to enlarge the area under the cursor a while back because I had to give a software demo in a big room. Well, I remember considering it but I don't remember whether I actually ran anything. And I have used the machine a lot since then and I can't imagine I haven't tried navigating dialogs, Explorer, etc., without using the trackpoint. So I think it is a very recent change. Win7 Pro 64-bit. I am the only owner. Trackpoint is "Enabled" in the BIOS. Any thoughts or suggestions much appreciated. jonathan7007

I've been coming around to blaming the hardware. It is odd that in the Fn+F8 display, when trying to choose the top, (all devices in use) option, the white dot appears where it should and the dialog instantly closes. When I re-invoke the dialog the setting has rverted to the last option: "Trackpad only". The UltraNav pane devoted to the trackpoint has been consistently greyed out with the trackpoint visibly selected in the pane. I see on Amazon a $34 "stock" keyboard... this is the next step. The machine did not undergo any extra stress recently but hardware failures are not always caused by a recognizable event. I am glad that at least the lower buttons and the trackpad work. Colonel, I don't know enough about Linux to mount the effort you suggest. Thanks for the idea, I see the benefit. jonathan7007

  • T510 - Ultranav middle button click + touchpad move for scroll issue

    Hi,
I am used from my t500 to click and hold middle button on the Ultranav and move up and down with the touchpad to scroll up and down. However, this does not work on my t510 anymore.
At least it does work sometimes for some seconds in google chrome; but just for some short moments.
The default behaviour is, that when i'm clicking the middle button the scroll symbol in form of a little scrollbar appears. I can then scroll by using the trackpoint, but not by using the touchpad. Using the touchpad has just the effekt, that the symbol disappears.
Sometimes another symbol appears; its the symbol with the arrows pointing in all direktions. Only when this symbol appears i am able to scroll by moving on the touchpad.
Now i am looking for a solution to my problem.
by the way: when i use the trackpoint, the touchpad is locked for some seconds. Is there a way to disable this?
    Best Greets, matthias.

There is an option to adjust how many lines the scrolling wheel skips but nothing about auto-scroll.I tested it.
It seems like if I use the Auto-scroll and keep the mouse literally 1 pixel below the circle, it will be barely slow enough for reading long articles but you really have to spend a minute and a magnifier to make sure you put the mouse pointer exactly 1 pixel below the circle, otherwise it gets too fast.I'm NOT exaggerating the 1 pixel part. My screen is 1920x1080.Maybe that makes things worse.
I was hoping to adjust the number of "pixels" the pointer has to travel to increase the speed from 1st to 2nd stage.Basically, to increase the distance you have to move the mouse in order to increase the acceleration.
I'm not sure if anyone here uses 1080p screen.Could you please confirm that it's also 1 pixel for you ?
