W530 Verde Drivers

When I had my W520, I had installed the Verde Drivers from nVidia's website. I tried the same thing with My W530, which has the Quadro K2000M Graphics Card. I got a lovely message that said something along the lines of "Installer could not find a complatible graphics device."  today I tried the nVidia Smart scan, which came up with "The manufacturer of this machine requires you to download the drivers from their site."  does this mean I can no longer install the Verde drivers or the CUDA developer drivers?
I attached the picture to show the message I got
W530(2436-CTO): i7-3720QM, nVidia Quadro K2000M,16GB RAM, 500 GB hard drive, 128GB mSATA SSD, Ubuntu 14.04 Gnome, Centrino Ultimate-N 6300.
Yoga 3 Pro: Intel Core-M 5Y70, Intel HD 5300, 8GB RAM, 128GB eMMC, Windows 8.1, Broadcom Wireless 802.11ac.

I doesn't mean that the Verde drivers will never work. It just means they don't support the Kepler-based Quadro cards yet. Give it some time and they will.

  • NVidia to release Drivers that support the Quadro K1000M and K2000M soon??

I have been checking to see if verde drivers support the K2000M in my W530, but today I saw that nVidia has added the K1000M and K2000M to the product listing on the drivers page. I'm hoping this means that they are gearing up to release drivers for these cards soon!!!!.

  • Nvidia 3D Vision Discover (Red/Cyan) Anaglyph on Thinkpad W530

Is the Thinkpad W530 capable of displaying anaglyph 3d?
According to computer test in the nvidia website, the W530 is capable http://systemrequirementslab.com/cyri_if/1066/0/8174
Giving the result below, but I have not been able to find the setup option in the Nvidia control Panel on windows 7 64-bit

I have "Enable 3D vision" and "Disable 3D vision" in my start menu, and under "Manage 3D settings" there are settings for Stereo Vision, but attempting to run the 3D preview results in an error stating "the primary display adapter does not support 3D vision"
Looks like it could also be the optimus
    http://3dvision-blog.com/5532-nvidia-optimus-technology-and-3d-vision-dont-go-well-together/
but that has nothing to do with anaglyph. either way. verde drivers may be of help, once they are released.

  • Need your advices on MacBook Pro Retina

    Hi all !
I'm in the market for getting a new laptop.
To put you in context, I'm a student studying electronics. Normally, I know what I'm talking about ;-) lol
I work as a park supervisor. I could not get a better summer job since I can study while working ! Every day, I sits in the park, turn on my laptop and start coding, reading and studying. Being paid to study is sincerly amazing ! ahah !
So, I study most of the time in the park, on my laptop.
I also have a powerful workstation (Asus P8P67 WS Revolution, Core i7 2700K 4.5 GHz, Asus GeForce GTX 680 DirectCUII, 16 GB RAM, RAID 0 SSD, a beautiful monster) for long works and coding session. I also do a lot of virtualization with VMWare Workstation. In fact, I've built a virtualization concept which segregates each tasks in different VMs.
But, my laptop is an essential tool for me because I use it as much as my workstation. I'm used to carry it at school and at work. So usage is about 50/50 between my Workstation and my laptop.
I started learning the CUDA API and massively parrallel programming. I bought the Cuda By Example book ( http://www.amazon.ca/CUDA-Example-Introduction-General-Purpose-Programming/dp/01 31387685 ). My Asus UL30VT has a CUDA-Capable GPU in it, along with the integrated Intel chipset. So I setup everything for Visual Studio, install the nVIDIA SDK, and start programming.
    Here comes the trouble.
Neither Visual Studio nor the nVIDIA SDK (which contains code samples) see the GeForce G210M in my laptop.
I searched a little over the internet and found that the integration of the graphics processors in this laptop is the worst kind of integration ever built in a laptop. The GPU switching technology is the "beta" version of the nVIDIA Optimus technology. The video drivers are more than obselete (197.xx driver version!!!!) and no more recent version is available, even with tweaks.
Absolutely no CUDA code would run in my laptop.
Sure, I could code on my workstation. But it's summer, and being stuck in the house basement while it's sunny outside ... ***** ... lol
And as I said, since I study most of the time (~90%) in my park, it's not very usefull to have a laptop that cannot do what you want anymore...
So I started my research to find a new laptop that would fit my needs. Easier to say than to do...
There is one month, Apple has announced the new MacBook Pro 15 Retina Edition.
I went in an Apple Store to take a look at these nothing else than piece of art.
And you'll guess it : I've fallen in love with this machine.
Thin, lightweight, good battery life, incredible display, amazing hardware. Everything on this laptop is incredible. Even the price ..................
Sure, the non-retina display is also a good machine, but being used to an ultraportable laptop (pre-ultrabook fashion), I would like it to be has thin and light as possible. And the non-retina has less high-end hardware too...
Since I saw this machine, the idea of getting one haunts me!
I tell myself that I could do more shots with one rock. I could learn the OS X environment which is, according to everyone who has an Apple computer, the best working environment ever created. And since I do a lot of virtualization but never could do this with my ultra-low-voltage CPU, the MacBook would also enable this possibility.
More and more programmers are adopting OS X to code. nVIDIA has also said that the new MacBook is one of the best CUDA development platform.
( http://blogs.nvidia.com/2012/06/new-macbook-pros-make-for-great-cuda-dev-platfor ms/ ). Sure, I have a long road to go throught before being a real developper, but as you might have seen, I like to work on things that really work well.
So, the 2700$-question : according to you and all the details I wrote here, does a MacBook Pro would be a nice choice for me ?
For this price (in Canadian dollars, I live in Montreal, Quebec), I have the MacBook, the Apple Care for 3 years and VMWare Fusion. It's a 400$-discount that I get because I'm a student (200$ on the machine, 100 $ on the Apple Care, and a 100$ gift card to get the iWork Suite and other softwares if needed).
The Non-Retina model is not an option, since I must upgrade it with SSD, 8 GB RAM et would like a better screen resolution. With all these upgrades, it's even pricier than the Retina which come more equiped.
I've looked to other laptop manufacturers too. Dell offers the XPS 15, but it's bulkier, doesn't feature has much as the MacBook, and I would not pay 1900 $ for a "Dell"......... Lenovo makes great laptop too, but I don't know ... Thinkpad are sure the reference as business laptops, but are heavy and bulky. Maybe I've missed a model... The IdeaPad is a nice ultrabook, but once again, it's an Ultra low voltage CPU, so virtualization would be so-so I guess... And Asus has nothing really exciting avalaible at NCIX (the main Asus online reseller in Canada and also the online shop where I buy all my system components).
One other thing : with all non-Mac laptops, I'm at the "mercy" of the manufacturer regarding GPU drivers, just like my Asus UL30VT... Most of the time, the Verde drivers would not install and you get the very nice message "Please refere to your laptop manufacturer for drivers" ......... -_-"
I request your experience and advice to clarify my choice.
    Thank you very much !!!

I was going to try to convince you to go with a PC notebook, but I know nothing about them. As you're concerned about weight, CUDA development, etc., I think that the MBP-R would be an excellent choice. I'm in a wheelchair and carry my MBP around in my backpack on back of my chair, so I don't worry about weight too often...
It sounds as if you're bright enough to be able to learn new things quickly, so there's no need, I think, to go with the usual "if you're already familiar with Windows, why not... etc."
It also sounds as if you've both thought things through and have decided on what you need. My opinion? Go with your gut feelings and thoughts. Just remember that you're going to be on the bleeding edge, somewhat. There are some here who have had problems with their new MBP's - and not just the Retina models. But then, we don't hear about the thousands (tens of thousands?) out there who are having no problems.
Three things to remember - if you have trouble with your new computer during the first two weeks, Apple will replace it, refund your money, whatever. Second, AppleCare (which I always buy) extends your one year warranty and 90-day phone support to a three year warranty with three years of phone support. And third, this is a large community and there will always be someone here who can help you through minor glitches you may have.
Go with your gut - get that new MacBook Pro with Retina display. I'm sure that you'll be happy with it. I would go ahead, though, and pay the $79 for the external USB SuperDrive - not to carry around with you but just as insurance should you ever need an optical drive.
    Best of luck,
    Clinton

  • HP, I need you to support your Hardware!!

Two weeks ago I bought a HP Pavilion dm3 1104tx at Harvey Norman (Sydney,Au) link to HN.
The offical Product specification DOES NOT specify it has Hybrid Graphics  (do not confuse with nvidia optimus) but it does (nvidia g 105m + intel igp) (ref: see advanced details) and I NEED TO DISABLE Hybrid Graphics (I wouldn't have bought it if I knew it had hybrid graphics).
specs: Link (HP) (or in Advanced Details)
Why do I need to disable Hybrid Graphics?
Infew words: I cant install the nvidia Verde drivers (the official ones) unless I disable the integrated graphics (iGPU).
Keep hybrid graphics on implies that I wouldnt be able to use the new CUDA features nor the 3D vision that comes with the new drivers, I wouldn't get driver bug fixes, no FLASH GPU ACCELERATION  no newer features and I wouldnt be able to use the nvidia GPU on linux (I know I know, HP does not support linux on this product, this is like a "side effect"), among many other things.
Also the intel igp is really bad, i get tearing all the time, has awful performance and I DIDN'T EVEN PAY TO HAVE IT (AND THEY NEVER SPECIFIED I'D GET THAT) --- I DONT WANT IT---
So i'd be happy by using only the nvidia dGPU (the g 105m one the specs).
For references please read the Advanced Details.
NOW, THE LOGIC THING TO DO IS ASK HP TO FIX THIS, since I bought the computer ~2 weeks ago (I cant return it anymore), BUT  tech support was, as always, NOT helpful at all (they dont know anything at all).
Again, all I want to do is disable the intel iGPU, And HP CANT expect me to solve this by myself, and not fixing this means they dont support their own hardware.
HOW CAN I CONTACT SOMEONE AT HP THAT IS ABLE TO DEAL WITH ADVANCED SUPPORT PROBLEMS??????
HP, IF YOU ARE READING I WANT YOU TO UPDATE THE INSYDEH20 BIOS OF THE DM3-1104TX, I NEED TO SHUT DOWN THE iGPU THAT I DIDNT PAY FOR, NEITHER WAS IN THE OFFICIAL SPECS.
I cant even believe hp has products like this... Im very satisfied with my HP Mini 311, please do not let me down!!.
I want to use my dm3!!
    E. Arturo
Apologies if this is too "confusing" English is not my first language.
    ---------------------------ADVANCED DETAILS------SKIP-IF-YOU-DON'T-WANT-TO-READ-TECHNICAL-INFO--------------------------
    Specs  Link (HP):
The specs in Harvey Norman are the same.
The command 'lspci | grep VGA' on linux outputs:
00:02.0 VGA compatible controller: Intel Corporation Mobile 4 Series Chipset Integrated Graphics Controller (rev 07)
01:00.0 VGA compatible controller: nVidia Corporation G98M [GeForce G105M] (rev a2)
That confirms that the dm3-1104tx *has* hybrid graphics, and it is enabled.
HP nvidia drivers are obsolete (2009, keep in mind nvidia releases drivers ~2 times a month (this affects me as no bug fixes and/or new features are provided))
    ref: Drivers (HP)
the official nvidia drivers can't be installed "Notebooks supporting Hybrid Power technology with Intel chipsets are not supported by this release."
    ref:Drivers (nVidia) (under supported products)
nvidia claims HP is responsible for the support of this card, ref: nVidia forums (means no drivers unless HP releases new drivers (its been two years since they updated their drivers!!) or updates bios to let me shut down IGP)
This happens if I try to install the nvidia Driver, THIS IS THE MOST IMPORTANT THING, IF I KNEW THIS COMPUTER HAD HYBRID GRAPHICS I WOULDNT HAVE BOUGHT IT, AS I NEED THE NEW NVIDIA DRIVERS AS SOON AS THEY ARE RELEASED (AGAING, THE SPECS NEVER SPECIFY THE FACT THAT THIS COMPUTER HAS HYBRID GRAPHICS).
Nvidia stopped support for hybrid power (means no new drivers) "Support for Hybrid Power, a Hybrid SLI technology, is discontinued and not available with this driver"
ref: Nvidia no longer supports hybrid power
There is a "modded" driver to use the optimus driver on the hybrid hardware (but im not going to use it as is too buggy and does not work properly)
    ref:unofficial hybrid drivers
The insyde bios has an advanced hidden menu in which the iGPU can be turned off
HP support doesn't even know the existence of this menu. And this menu is of curse not visible by default in the setup utility.
example of unlocked BIOS (this is my 311 not my dm3, if this was my dm3 I wouldn't be here):
This is my Hp 311. Advanced -> Video Configuration (theren you can shut down the iGPU")
in my hp mini 311 i can access the advanced menu by pressing "A" immediately after "F10" at start up (but it doesnt work on my dm3)
    ref: "F10" + "A" = Advanced Menu
Also in this forum they modded the HP 311 bios to display the Advanced menu by default: HP Mini Bios Hack
the nvidia drivers can be installed if the integrated graphics are disabled.
quote from the nvidia driver: "notebook and all-in-one desktop designs with switchable (hybrid) or Optimus graphics will not work if means to disable the integrated graphics in hardware are not available." (linux driver, under additional information) (means that if I disable the iGPU i can use the drivers)
*note although this is for the linux drivers It should also apply to the windows drivers, I'll add reference as soon as I get it.
ref: Drivers (nvidia) (see under additional info )
ive  dumped the bios (InsydeH20) to a binary file and dissembled the setup utility (using marcan's  python scripts on linux) and found that the advanced menu is actually there (but hidden) (but I don't know how to enable it)
marcan's blog: Marcan's Blog (he wrote the scripts to enable VT but they can be used to dissemble the setup utility)
python scripts : Insyde Hack Tools
-this the stock  BIOS for the dm3 1104tx-
how to flash with a modded BIOS: Undocumented way to Flash Insyde BIOSes (also they mod bioses but they haven't been able to help me so far)
proof that the advanced menu exists on HPs: HP latops have "Advanced" menu in BIOS
also there is an "official" leaked tool from insyde called ezh20 which can be used to mod insyde bioses with a hexeditor.
    Notes:
1 Im NOT trying to get support for Linux, Im just using linux as a tool
2 I do not have the leaked ezH20 tool as that might be illegal.
3 All I want is to disable the Integrated GPU
    -----------------------------------------------END ADVANCED DETAILS----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

That is a horse of another color. I understand and sympathize. Somebody needs to help and I will post this on another board to see if there is some inside HP support available to you. Best I can do.

  • External display through MDP/HDMI not working

    Can anyone help me?
My Dynex external tv is reporting "No Signal" while connected HDMI via a moshi MiniDP to HDMI adapter. It was working perfectly until I reinstalled Windows 7 over the weekend. It worked for a little bit today, and has now returned to No Signal. The display works perfectly with Snow Leopard.
Can anyone help? I'm currently running NVIDIA Verde 275.33 drivers released today.

I spent a bunch of hours working on this, and I somewhat came to a conclusion: nvidia's drivers are at fault.
The display reported no signal while using the 275.33 drivers released yesterday, and with the 270.61 drivers released April 18th.
I rolled back to the drivers provided with this macbook, which were 197 or so, and it worked. Then I tried the 267.76 drivers released in March. Those drivers worked as well and they are what I currently run.
If anyone else with a 2010 MBP 13" (or other sizes) have this problem, try rolling back your drivers to 267.76 verde drivers provided by nvidia.

  • T410 Screen/graphics issue

    Hi!
My T410 has begun acting up a bit. The screen turns itself off after approx. 10 minutes of inactivity, even if my settings have been set to wait longer. This also occurs while viewing movies/shows in VLC, which is highly annoying (having to tap the mousepad every so often. Any tips on how to make it go away?
    What I've tried:
    - Reinstalling power manager
    - Installed newest nVidia Verde drivers
    - Updating BIOS
    - Checking settings in Windows power manager as well as the ThinkVantage Power Manager
OS is Windows 7 Professional (the issue is not there in Linux (Ubuntu 11.04)).
Any advice appreciated - the issue also occurs when playing games etc., and the screen often flashes several times before "waking up" again.
    Thanks!

    hey Flim,
since you mentioned Ubuntu 11.04 , did this issue occur before you made your unit into a dual boot or did it happen after your T410 became a dual boot unit ?
currently the bios for your unit is at v1.38 ?
try uninstalling the power manager completely as well as the nvidia drivers and let windows install its generic video driver.

  • My gt70 cannot detect my nvidia card :(

i was trying to do a clean update of my nvidia driver when i uninstalled and then when i tried to install the new driver it says the device is not detected even on my device manager is not on the list im confuse any help????

http://www.msi.com/service/download/nbdriver-18961.html  use those drivers from the GT70 ONE.  They are updated R300 drivers with Phsyx.  Also keep in mind all the Verde drivers off the Nvidia site will fail right now as they don't support the GTX 670, 675, or 680 right now, but they will soon.  The latest beta drivers do say they support the GTX 675, but they do not as Nvidia failed to add the 675 to the ini file.

  • [w520] Autocad doesn't know my quadro 1000m

    Hello!
Has anyone else problems with his W520 with the Quadro 1000M and Autocad (architecture 2011) ?
ACAD will not know my Quadro and the driver from the Autodesk homepage are not knowing my graphic card.
The Nvideo system control knows Autocad for using the 1000m, the nVideo icon in the task bar tells that the 1000m is used by autocad but when running autocad ist can't find any 3d hardware acceleration.
It's a liitle bit frustrating running autocad with a w520 and optimus.
    thanks

Not a user of AutoCAD here, but I use Autodesk Inventor on my W520 and it works with Optimus/Discrete settings just fine. I am running the http://www.nvidia.com/object/notebook_drivers.html NVIDI Verde drivers.

  • Quadro K2000m drivers Win 8.1 W530

    Hello everyone,
I was trying to see whether the drivers I originally had (can't remember the version) for the Quadro K2000m on my W530 were doing their job.
The first sign I noticed that something was off was when playing CS: GO and I can only play it at 1600x900 (using only the laptop's LCD)  with most settings in medium and some in high. Then, I noticed that although Premiere Pro CS6 works with the CUDA cores (I can play and add effects to most clips and still play them in real time from a 170mbps GH2 patch) I appear to still not get full performance since some effects immediately make playback choppy.
According to GPU-Z, the GPU is not working when I render my work area in Premiere.
I am attaching two screenshots from GPU-Z. The sensors screenshot shows what the GPU usage when playing a clip in full resolution with one effect (filmconvert) added to the clip. Playback is choppy. I would say it drops half the frames every second.
Now, the kicker...since I downloaded a new driver from Lenovo, I started getting BSODs.
So I downloaded another one from NVIDIA...same BSODs and usually not when I am working. Mostly when I am browsing of doing not much like watching a video on youtube or vimeo.
    Am I missing something here?

When you run the NVIDIA installer, choose Custom. At the page where you can choose components to install/upgrade, there should be a checkbox for clean install. It will uninstall the old driver, prompt for reboot, then install the new driver.
You can quickly check if Premiere is set to run on discrete by right-clicking on the shortcut (not sure if this works in the Metro UI), and looking in the "Run with graphics processor" submenu. If this says integrated is default, then you can change this in the NVIDIA Control Panel.

  • Installed Windows7 Ultimate on thinkpad w530 but many of the drivers did not get installed

Has anyone else had a similar problem
My only option appears to be downloading all the drivers from the lenovo site individually and then installing drivers for each. But, I am surprised that Windows did not find the drivers for each of these components, especially the wireless adapter

Hi suhaim, welcome to the forums,
did your W530 come with a version of Windows 7 pre-installed and did you create the recovery discs?
The easiest way to install Ultimate would have been to run an "Any Time Upgrade" of the pre-installed Windows 7 system using your Ultimate license number, if you created recovery discs this is still possible after recovering the system. (Assuming bit versions sre the same).
Another method of obtaing all drivers after a clean install would be to install ThinkVantage SystemUpdate this should get and install the drivers for you.

  • W530 fingerprintreader and colorimeter drivers missing!

Just did a clean install on my ssd and now drivers are missing. Couldn't find them on the official Site. Any advice what drivers are compatible? My model is 2447-43G
Contacted the german phone support but they did not have a solution. The guy on the phone told me that it can take weeks to release the drivers. Whats the problem? I mean the factory image got the drivers, why not as standalone on the support page? Is the a chance i can extract them from the recovery image?
    Thanks alot!

    harrisb,
actually that fingerprint software won't work on the new systems like W530.  For some reason, the web team still hasn't posted that package.  But I have put fingerprint software in my dropbox here:

I don't have the color calibrator software, and I don't know if the web-release for the older systems that you linked will work or not.

  • W530: windows 7 not starting after updating drivers

    Hello everybody,
Last night the Lenovo update application in my computer recommended me to do some updates, which I did, including upgrading the BIOS.
After flashing the BIOS, Windows 7 didnt load anymore.
the loading screen got stucked there for hours.
I did a startup recovery and the system said it couldnt repait it automatically.
The error log said: "A recent driver installation or upgrade may be preventing the system from starting"
What can I do to put things back to the state they were last night?
At first I thought it was the driver. I checked the bios screen and it says I still have the 2.55 version.. which makes things weird. But I installed the bios 2.6 from a cd and it didnt load windows either.
The recovery setting from lenovo will wipe my complete hard drive.
I need to find a solution to go back to the state of things last night without loosing my data.
    Thanks!

    They'll help you over here.
