W8 RSAT Server Manager showing wrong capacity!?
Hello!
I connect from my W8 workstation to Hyper-V Server 2012 remotely and apparently Server Manager shows the wrong capacity in Gibibyte (by factor 10), but the right one in Byte!?
Is this a bug? Any suggestions?
L.
Using Windows 8.1 to connect to a Windows 2012 R2 server, this issue doesn't appear anymore!
I should close this thread as "answered", but since there has never been any answer, e. g. by those who fixed this bug, I leave it open, hoping that anybody responsible reads it and in future we'll get proper answers! Like this hypothetical answer:
"Hi! We checked the source code and indeed there was a bug. It will be addressed by one of the next Windows Updates."
I think this hypothetical answer, including checking the source, would have cost a quarter developer-hour the maximum!

IPhone4 Music Sync - Shows Wrong Capacity?
I'm using iTunes 10.00.1 on Windows Vista 64 and trying to sync music on my iPhone 4 32GB with iOS4 installed. When I first sunc, the capacity usage on the bottom of the iTunes windows shows I have 1.1 GB free on the device, which exactly equals what the device shows. However, if I add a single song (less than 20MB), iTunes tells me that I do not have enough capacity to transfer it, and afterwards the capacity indicator in iTunes shows that I now have 7.1 GB free! If I unplug and replug the iPhone, the capacity meter again shows I have 1.1 GB free, but if I try to resync the same thing happens.
What's going on here? This seems to only happen when I approach close to 1 GB free and has only happened since I installed iOS4. Does iOS4 now require 1 GB to be free on the phone?
One further note is that I'm using the 128 on-the-fly conversion rate option (checkbox) when transferring songs to the Phone.
TonyThis worked fine until earlier this year after an iTunes upgrade. Now it says its syncronized but isn't, and the Capacity shows as 38.28GB in iTunes.
with those symptoms, we had better check on the possibility from the following document:
Windows confuses iPod with network drive or hard drive and may keep iPod from mounting or songs may seem to disappear -
Q: Extension Manager showed wrong language when it was launched.
If Extension Manager is launched from Create Suite products' menu, it will use the locale of the product. If you do want to run it in another language, you can add "-locale lang=" parameters. For example, on windows, you can run the command below to show French.

Satellite L550-11K - Device manager shows wrong CPU
I have bought the Satellite L550-11K to myself and because stan it has a p8700 processor with 2.53 GHz. However, in the device manager it stands 2 times a T4200 processor with 2 GHz!!!?
Hey,
I had the same issue that the CPU in my desktop computer wasnt listed properly so I have removed the CPU from device manager (right click > uninstall) and restart the notebook. You have to remove both entries.
After restarting the CPU will be recognized again and this time it should be listed properly. For me it worked. :)
Another question, are you running the preinstalled OS or have you installed another OS? -
Access denied in Windows 2012 Server Manager after a period of time working without problems
Hello,
I had 2 servers with windows 2012 installed in a domain (dc is in a 3rd server) and both added to server manager of each other. Both servers had Failover cluster installed and configured roles. After startup in both servers i can see the other and manage
it without problems (in server manager and failover cluster manages) but after a period of 30-40 minutes in both servers I see "Online - Data Retrieval failures Ocurred" for the partner server and "Online - Access Denied" for local server.
When I access de Failure Cluster Manager I had errors accessing resources and roles and can´t failover the cluster.
I removed the failover cluster thinking that could be the original problem, remove servers from domain, change names and add again to the domain without install failover cluster.
Now, the servers have not the failover cluster feature and the problem persists. 30-40 minutes after boot the server manager show messages of inaccesible partner with same messages. I tried to execute powershell commands to add a new ip to the NIC and I
receive a Access Denied Message and show Access Denied message in other events in log.
I´m using Domain Administrator Account and tried different solutions but not solved. I saw that this message can occur in a variety of different scenarios, but i don´t know why works during a period of time before failing. It´s frustrating
Regards
EDITED: in detail of Online - Data retrieval failures i see that: Configuration refresh failed with the following error: The metadata failed to be retrieved from the server, due to the following error: The WS-Management service cannot process the request.
The WMI provider returned an 'access denied' error.Hi PabloVDL,
It seems is this two server has register the incorrect DNS, please try to add this server manage NIC IP to your manager hosts file or if possible trmpory disable the useless NIC DNS register. This issue also some times caused by when you installed
the HP insignth management, if in your environment you have this tools please temporarily uninstall it.

Failover Cluster Manager 2012 Showing Wrong Disk Resource - Fix by Powershell
On Server 2012 Failover Cluster Manager, we have one Hyper-V virtual machine that is showing the wrong storage resource. That is, it is showing a CSV that is in no way associated with the VM. The VM has only one .vhd, which exists on Volume 16.
The snapshot file location and smart paging file are also on Volume 16. This much is confirmed by using the Failover Cluster Manager to look at the VM settings. If you start into the "Move Virtual Machine Storage" dialog, you can see
the .vhd, snapshots, second level paging, and current configuration all exist on Volume 16. Sounds good.
However, if you look at the resources tab for the virtual machine, Volume 16 is not listed under storage. Instead, it says Volume 17, which is a disk associated with a different virtual machine. That virtual machine also (correctly) shows Volume
17 as a resource.
So, if everything is on Volume 16, why does the Failover Cluster Manager show Volume 17, and not 16, as the Storage Resource? Perhaps this was caused by an earlier move with the wrong tool (Hyper-V manager), but I don't remember doing this.
In Server 2003, there was a "refresh virtual machine configuration" option to fix this, but it doesn't appear in Failover Cluster Manager in Server 2012.
Instead, the only way I've found to fix the problem is in PowerShell.
Update-ClusterVirtualMachineConfiguration "put configuration name here in quotes"
You would think that this would be an important enough operation to include GUI support for it, possibly in the "More Actions" right-click action on the configuration file.Hi,

Windows Services don't show as started in Server Manager
Server manager does not show Windows services as being started on one of our xserves - although Samba is up and operational just fine.
Even after re-starting the server after we moved a month or so ago it has not shown windows as being started. Samba came up ok after reboot with no intervention.
Here's the processes and PIDs:
xserve1:/var/run root# more smbd.pid
853
xserve1:/var/run root# ps ax | grep 853
8432 p2 R+ 0:00.00 grep 853
xserve1:/var/run root# more nmbd.pid
24215
xserve1:/var/run root# ps ax | grep 24215
24215 ?? Ss 0:16.63 /usr/sbin/nmbd -D
8441 p2 R+ 0:00.00 grep 24215
Not sure how to recalibrate Server Manager to recognise that the service is actually running.
Any clues?
Thanks,
Campbell
XServes Mac OS X (10.4.5) 12 Macs & several hundred too many PCsThat happened to me after the update to 10.4.4 and the issue was that somehow com.apple.smbd got set back to start in launchctl.
To see if this is your issue, run this command
Code:
ps alx | grep mbd
You will probably notice that there are not just one each of SMBD and NMBD but one of them has 2 processes. In my case it was like this
0 10269 1 0 31 0 30664 328 - S ?? 0:00.00 /usr/sbin/smbd -D
0 10275 1 0 31 0 28464 684 - Ss ?? 0:00.01 /usr/sbin/nmbd -D
0 10277 10275 0 31 0 28452 184 - S ?? 0:00.00 /usr/sbin/nmbd -D
501 10284 1959 0 31 0 27820 4 - R+ p1 0:00.00 grep mbd
Your post about smbd.pid being the 'wrong' one is the hint that this is going on.
So next run this
Code:
sudo launchctl list
and if you see in that list this
org.samba.smbd
you have the same issue. So to stop this I ran a GUI program called Lingon to unload and disable the offending plist (called smbd.plist in /System/Library/LaunchDaemons) but I think you can run the following to do the same thing
Code:
sudo launchctl unload -w org.samba.smbd

VM2.2 manager page shows wrong status "Shutting down" for VM Guest
Hi,
VM manager page shows wrong status "Shutting down" for VM guest, I can very much connect to console and see it is up and running.
It happened when trying to shutdown VM guest manually but in parallel VM server got rebooted automatically.
Any information on How to correct the status in VM manager page?
Thank you.I found below this solution on http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E15458_01/doc.22/e15441/appendix_e.htm#BHBCIAJB
To solve this problem, change the status manually as follows:
1.Make sure that the virtual machine in the target server has been shut down. Use xm list or virsh list to check the virtual machine name and ID.
2.If the virtual machine is running, use xm shutdown vm_id or virsh shutdown vm_id to shut it down, where vm_id refers to the virtual machine name or ID.
3.Use xm list or virsh list to check if the virtual machine has been shut down. If it is still running, use xm destroy vm_id, or virsh destroy vm_id to shut it down.
4.Log in as oracle (or root first, then su - oracle) to the computer where Oracle VM Manager is installed, and run the following commands to change the virtual machine status to Powered off in the Oracle XE database:
export ORACLE_HOME='/usr/lib/oracle/xe/app/oracle/product/10.2.0/server'
export ORACLE_SID=XE
$ORACLE_HOME/bin/sqlplus / as sysdba
SQL> update ovs.ovs_vm_img t set t.status='Powered Off' where t.img_name like 'vm_name';
SQL> commit;
SQL> quit
vm_name refers to the virtual machine name.
5.Retry your operation, or delete the virtual machine directly. -
I can not connect to the database via C#. The database is showing full path of the database file instead of the database name. See the pic: a database showing only name 'emart' and the other database showing the full path.
: RobbyHi,
According to your post, I know that the database name is showing file path of the database rather than the database name in SQL Server Management Studio. You were not able to
establish a connection to the database using C#.
As Olaf said, was any error message thrown out when the connection failed? How did you create these databases?
You can use the following T-SQL to attach the database and see if the issue persists.
CREATE DATABASE
databasename
ON (FILENAME = 'filepath _Data.mdf'),
(FILENAME = 'filepath_Log.ldf')
FOR ATTACH;
Thanks.

Edited by: khushi on Jun 18, 2010 1:42 PMI have experienced the same issue. Here is a way to workaround to solve it:
1. login to OVM manager host as oracle user
2. Set the propler environment to login to the OVM reporistory database. for exampl in Unix/Linux
export ORACLE_HOME='/usr/lib/oracle/xe/app/oracle/product/10.2.0/server'
export PATH=$ORACLE_HOME/bin:$PATH
export ORACLE_SID=XE
3. Login to the repository database as ovs user:
sqlplus ovs/<passsword>
and run the following SQLs:
update ovs_server set status = 'Active' where SERVER_NAME = '<OVS serverhostname.domain.com>';
commitl;
4. Go to OVM manager and cllick the refresh button on the servers page. The status of the OVS server will be changed to 'Active'
and you can power on the VM.

Sql Server 2014 showing no services in the configuration manager after install?
I'm using Windows 8. Recently I downloaded sql server management studio 2014 from the official website. But when I open the Sql server 2014 Configuration Manager there are
no services listed.
During installation, there were no any errors.
See pic from here -> http://stackoverflow.com/questions/26159248/sql-server-2014-showing-no-services-in-the-configuration-manager-after-install?noredirect=1#comment41009151_26159248
I did search everywhere but still I didn't find anything, please help me resolve this issue. I downloaded Sql server management studio 2014 from here-> http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-in/evalcenter/dn434042.aspx
Inside `win+r` as i type `services.msc` I'm unable to see any sql or service into it.I downloaded sql server management studio 2014 from the official website. But when I open the Sql server 2014 Configuration Manager there are
no services listed.
Of course not, SSMS = SQL Server Management Studio is just a tool/frontend, not a Service. You have to install SQL Server database engine.

Managed server working, but enterprise manager shows it is down.
Hi,
I have installed weblogic 10.3.5 on a pair of Oracle Linux 5 vms.
On one server everything looks great and runs great. On the second server (seemingly set up the exact same way), the enterprise manager shows that my managed server is down, not the admin server, but a new one I have created. I can't seem to find any errors, and everything seems to function just fine, I am able to start and stop the server from em and the console.
Any ideas where to look? You may want to post this question in the WebLogic Server forum, the problem may not be specific to WebCenter Portal.

OAS Enterprise Manager shows false Hostname after reinstall the server
Hy,
we have an OAS 10.1.2.0.2 with and 10g (10.2.0.1.0) Database.
Ater a systemcrash we had to reinstall the DB (the dbf-Files are from an backup) and OAS.
we decieded to rename the server.
But now we have the following problem: the Enterprise Manager show the old Hostname.
I see the thread for OAS Re: Oracle Reports Stop Working after Join the Server to the Domain !!!
which points to the script "cmd /c chgiphost.bat -mid"
Is there a similar "Script" for the DB?
(I searched whithin the dbf-files and found lots of old hostnames...)
Thanks in advanceFor database is a different procedure, chgiphost is for OAS only, if you want to check this for database, you could, either go to DB forum and ask same question, or look in the admin guide for the DB you are using. There is going to be the way to make this changes.

Remote desktop connections not showing in server manager 2012 for one of the session hosts
This is a three server deployment with one server being the connection broker, gateway, licensing, etc with two session host only servers.
rdmgr
rd1
rd2
Using the server manager on the rdmgr connection broker (or any other server for that matter) yields only connections from rd2 with nothing from rd1 displaying.
Users can connect to rd1 without issue.
At one point rd1 had the connection broker role installed also but high availability was not setup. I removed the role hoping it would correct the problem but no luck.
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.Hi,
1. Is rd1 part of a collection?
2. On rd1, in Computer Management, is the broker's computer account a member of the local RDS Management Servers group?
3. If you run the below command do you get a list of sessions:
query user /server:rd1
4. Any errors/warnings in either the broker's or rd1's event log?
Broker: Event Viewer\ Applications and Services Logs\ Microsoft\ Windows\ TerminalServices-SessionBroker
rd1: Event Viewer\ Applications and Services Logs\ Microsoft\ Windows\ TerminalServices-SessionBroker-Client
Both: System and other logs

Server manager crashing - Fault Module clr.dll
The Server manager is crashing. As soon as you try to open Server Manager it crashes instantly with the failing module being clr.dll
This seems to relate to .net framework and after looking for a hotfix it says to contact Microsoft (who have been less than helpful so far).
Things i have tried:
= Installing the hotfix which results in an error about the update not being needed or something else on the server stopping the update.
= Uninstalling .net framework for reinstalling, but to uninstall a service/feature it launches into the server manager, so just results in a crash.
= Tried uninstalling via Powershell, but as soon as you open powershell it also crashes!
Resulting error for both powershell and server manager is clr.dll. Basically anything relating to .net framework has stopped working and i need a fix! Thanks! We are referring to Windows Server 2012 R2 (sorry).
You open the Server Manager, it shows launches and then says not responding instantly.
You can either check for solutions or close. The following error messages is contained with it:

I am sure this is related to .Net Framework 4, because my Avast Management console and Powershell have also stopped working and result with the same error when launched. I could be wrong though, but that is my thoughts....
