WAAS Default Group query - New Installation

Hi All,
This may be a very quick and easy to answer question so here goes.....
I have a WAAS estate of "X" amount of devices from day one initially the default application acceleration options were fine so all devices as default out of the box join the "AllDevicesGroup". This for the main is absolutely fine.
I have recently been asked to look at an application for acceleration and am in the process of creating the policy etc to apply, creating new classifiers etc for this.
My question mainly relates to why i can not see any applications defined when i navigate via:-
My WAN/Device Group/AllDeviceGroup then Configure/Acceleration/Policy Definitions on the Central Manager
HOWEVER
when i navigate directly on to a particular WAE device and go through the same steps above i see a list of applications as you would expect and it then states "inherited from AllDevicesGroup" so i know this is gathering the information regarding config/classifiers etc from the CM AllDevicesGroup.
i just wonder in this scenario how would i edit an existing default classifier for example wanting to add TCP pport 8082 to HTTP as an example would this mean changing it on every endpoint which to me defeats the object in having a alldevicesgroup?
any thoughts on this would be appreciated as usual.
thanks
craig

Hello Craig,
What you are seeing is correct, at least it was also on our lab device.
You can click on "Restore Predefined Policies and Classifiers" on the My WAN -> Device Group -> AllDeviceGroup -> Configure -> Acceleration -> Policy Definitions page.
This will populate the page with the default rules, you can then add your custom application to this.
I hope this helps, Peter

  • Default Item group for new Items

    Hi all
When i create an item, SAP default Itemgroup is Fixed Aset (in field Item group), now i want to change this default. Can i do this? Hep me, please.
    Thank you

    Hi Le,
You can't have a default group of your own, however you can do that by using formatted search. For example you want a group, Finished Goods as your default. Use following query
    Select '104'
Note that 104 is the numeric code of that particular group "Finished Goods" that might be different in your system.
Link this query to items group field through formatted search and set its refresher based on item code, now your default group would be Finished Goods or whatever you want to have.

  • Project Server default groups when we create new project site

    Hi,
When we create new project site in project server 2013 in site settings page some default groups are already present with some default permissions and some default members.
Interesting thing is that the members of these group are same when ever we create a new site.
Can you please help me understand, what these groups are, how they get created and how they are having some default members. Where are these members coming from.
Our project server is having project server permission mode.
    Thanks,
    Bhawna.

I briefly searched the MSTechNet but was not able to find a succinct article on this point for 2013, if someone has that, can they pls share. However, if you read most of the articles under this area,
    you get the idea.
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/fp161361(v=office.15).aspx
From 2010 this applies and is still "similar"
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc197668(v=office.14).aspx
In 2013, for every Project Site (connected SharePoint site as it is now called in 2013), 2 Site specific SharePoint security groups are created: "SiteProjectName Project Managers (Project Web App Synchronized)"
& "SiteProjectName Team Members (Project Web App Synchronized)".
And Web Administrators (Project Web App Synchronized) is also created.
In addition, the default SharePoint groups for: Site Members, Site Owners, Site Visitors are present but remain empty.
Project Server controls the creation of these groups and the membership. The membership is a "formula" that goes something like this: If the user is the Project Owner then put them in the PM group.
If the user is a PWA Administrator, then put them in the Administrators group. If the user is a team member on the project, then put them in the Team Members group. There are other factors like RBS that are used in the formula.
Reading the descriptions of the groups reveals that for Project Managers =
Users who have Published this project or who have Save Project Permission in PWA.
For Team Members = Users who have assignments in this project in PWA.
I believe these are the old 2010 descriptions and actually Team Members = anyone who is part of the Build Team even if no assignments.
Further complicating matters is that if you are a site collection admin, you will see all the groups, for PWA and for all the project site (b/c you are actually seeing the site collection groups).
But only the ones mentioned above apply specifically to this project site.
Hope this sheds some light on the topic,
    Thanks, Eric S. Pcubed

  • Purchasing Groups not defaulting to all new line items

    Hi,
We are on SRM 4.0. currently, we can only assign a user to one purchasing group. Now my problem is Purchasing Groups not defaulting to all new line items (when changed in default settings). If any one faced this problem help me out.
    regards,
    sobhan

    Sobhan,
Depending on your material group, the purchaing group will be defaulted. According to the responsibility tab and SPRO Config define objects in the backend system, the purchaing group will default in your basic data of the shopping cart screen.
Even though in your default settings you will assign a Purchaing group, the purchasing group will be defaulyed on the basis of the above two crietrias mentioned.
Please assigbn points for usefull answer !!

  • Setting the default group

    Hello
maybe somebody can help , I have several groups loaded in the data portal, with different names from differents measurements, but all of them have the same channels, i mean the measurements were taken in different moments and under different circunstances but all of them measure the same properties, and I have to count the change in some channels in particular , in a loop over all the groups , I always get the result for the first group , i have used something like this:
    for i=1 to groupcount
    Call GroupDefaultSet(i)
msgbox(chnlength("Time")) 'time is the name of one channel in more than one group
    next
and instead of getting , for example the length of all channels "time " i get the length of the channel "time" from the first gruop
    Thanks for your help

    Hi arkangel,
The GroupDefaultSet() command changes the default group, but that only affects ADDITIONS to the Data Portal after that point, such as new FormulaCalculation channels, excerpted section channels from VIEW, new ANALYSIS channels from an FFT calculation, etc.
If you want to reference channels of the same name from multiple groups, and you have DIAdem 9.x, you can use the [GroupName]/[ChannelName] adressing scheme to query off the "Time" channel from multiple groups. If you have DIAdem 9.1, then you can also use the [GroupIndex]/[ChannelName], [GroupName]/[ChannelIndex], or {GroupIndex]/[ChannelIndex] adressing options. For example:
    For i = 1 TO GroupCount
    ChNum = CNo("[" & i & "]/Time")
    IF ChNum > 0 THEN Msg = Msg & "Group " & i & " --> " & ChnLength(ChNum) & vbCRLF
    NEXT
    MsgBox Msg
For DIAdem 8.x you will need to use the CNo() function's optional second parameter (ChannelNoStart) in order to ensure that you start at the next channel AFTER the one you just found. Channel numbers was all there was in DIAdem 8.x.

  • How to set default group in EXS24 patch?

    Hi,
This question is about the EXS24 sampler in MainStage 3.   I'm in no way an EXS24 expert, so I'm hoping this is an easy one - I can't find it in the manual anywhere though.  I'm working with some EXS24 patches that have been supplied to me for a live project, reproducing the recorded version using those patches.  They are set up with keyswitches to select sample groups to allow the use of different articulations.  The question I have is how to set the default group - so that every time the patch loads (for example) it selects the legato articulation group, instead of defaulting to staccato as it does at present.  I've thought about scripting MainStage to send the keyswitch on load of the patch but that seems like a lot of effort to fix something that surely must be an easy fix I'm missing.  From what I can tell, the last group defined is the one that loads automatically - but I can't find any way of changing the order of the groups - I can sort the view, but that makes no difference to the behaviour.

    Hello Gaurav,
If I understood correctly, Your requirement is to update People Group segments based on employee category.
Basically you need to update people group values based on employee category before insert into assignment table.
You can acheive this using Dynamic Trigger on Assignment Table.
you need to change the new.people_group_id along with other segment values in this trigger logic.
Following articles will help you steps on how to create dyanamic triggers.

  • Problems with new installation of iAS on Windows

This is a new installation of iAS 10.1.2.0.2 on Windows. The application server doesn't come up properly after reboot. The log file D:\Oracle\ora101_infra\opmn\logs\OC4J~OC4J_SECURITY~default_island~1 contains an error stack that begins with:
SSO: DB Error. Please make sure the database is available and restart SSO Server
Obviously, the database (service name OracleServiceIAS472F) is started after the rest of the services (service names similar to Oracleora101_XXX). I have found documentation on how to make the ProcessManager service of the OracleAS Infrastructure before it starts up the ProcessManager service of the middle tier, but no notes on starting the database service in an order different from Windows default. Extensive googling doesn't give me that others have had similar problems. I would like to verify before starting to mess around with the order of services starting at boot time.
The person doing the installation (I don't have direct access to the machine) maintains that installation of WebUtil is causing these problems, and that the problems disappear if he reverts the configuration of WebUtil. I have limited experience with forms configuration and cannot see the connection.
Any input would be greatly appreciated!
    Regards,
    Maria

Maria, we have numerous installations of both 10gDB 10.1.0.5/10gAS 9.0.4.2 and 10gDB 10.2.0.3/10gAS 10.1.2.0.2 here. The environments are all two server configurations: 1 server has DB + AS Infrastructure, 1 server has AS Middle Tier. I have not had an issue with a DB server reboot causing the Infrastructure to not come up, although we have a strict rule of always rebooting these two servers in pairs: first DB then AS Middle Tier. And since there are gazillion MS patches, they do get rebooted frequently. Regards, John

  • Grouping multiple news items into a single e-mail notification?

    Hi,
We are on EP5 SP6 and would like to know if anyone knows how to group multiple news items into a single e-mail notification.
    Thank you.

    Hi Dirk,
    Thanks for your reply.
We are looking to have newsletter capabilities in the portal.  A good example would be the "Dev Today Newsletter - News Perspective" available from SDN.  Essentially we would like users of our portal installation to choose the topics/news that they are interested in receiving and the frequency and then get that content in a formatted e-mail in the same manner that the Dev Today Newsletter is received.
All suugestions on achieving this outcome are welcome and much appreciated.
    Thanks,

  • What are default group permissions supposed to look like?

I'm struggling with permissions under Leopard (I understand many others are as well). My quick and dirty question is: what are the default user & group ID numbers for a fresh leopard client install?
I've only done archive & installs lately so no longer have a test bed to compare from. Currently on one machine user id and group id (GID) are BOTH 501. I think Leopard has moved the default user IDs to 1000 (on up) and the default group ID to 20 (staff).
When moving files between machines at one installation the group is coming across as "Unknown" from a Leopard server. Trying to Get Info on these files and unlocking the padlock in Get Info window will crash the Finder!! So I guess i'd like to change the group IDs so they're consistent on all machines. Didn't have this problem with Tiger.
    Thanks for any help!

OK, so followed the instructions in <http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=307128> and things were fine until i updated to 10.5.2. Now if I choose Get Info on a file in any external drive there is no longer a padlock under Sharing & Permissions. It only says "You can read and write" and that's it. No list of owner (Me), groups, everyone. they're not even listed anymore and the padlock is GONE!
ls -l in Terminal gets me lists like
    drwxr-xr-x 6 steve _steve 204 Dec 8 2004 Hüsker Dü
    and ls -ln returns:
    drwxr-xr-x 6 501 501 204 Dec 8 2004 Hüsker Dü
    i don't think i like the 501 501 thing. i'd prefer 501 20 .
anything i should be aware of before changing the group across the board to 20? (i'd also like to change the user folder from 501 501 to 501 20). should i use the dscl command, i used to try to get out of this mess before, somehow?
Permissions under 10.5 has sadly become a real mess! reminds me of 10.0 days...

  • Mdadm boot slow to assemble drives with newer installs

I had a problem where my raid1 installs from this year would pause about 5 seconds per mdadm entry yet my old installs from March 2014 would go through all 4 mdadm entries in less than a second. After fussing for a long time on the new installs I finally broke (slowed) one of my old installs which immediately revealed what the problem was.
I didn't forget to pick partition type FD or FD00. I have my install sequence in a text file so I rarely forget things. I install through PuTTY pasting all the way so it's fast and mistakes are rare.
devices of the form /dev/md/* take about 5 seconds to create.
devices of the form /dev/md{0..127} create very fast.
"mdadm -E --scan" always creates devices of the form /dev/md/{0..127}. In the past I was very meticulous about fixing the device names to the more compact form. I never missed so I never found out there was a substantial speed difference. I just like the the more compact look of /dev/md1 in my boot menu. Eventually I progressed to UUID and LABEL but persisted with the compact form. Then I discovered "mdadm --name" so I left mdadm do it's own thing. What could possibly go wrong?
I also noticed that the mdadm instructions changed from using "mdadm" to "mdadm_udev". mdadm_udev seems to assemble faster than mdadm.
To fix, boot once to see if you're slow, fix any usage of /dev/md*/* in your boot scripts or fstab, fix the form in /etc/mdadm.conf, and mkinitcpio...
I still see that the new installs pause at udev more than old installs, but instead of 20s vs >1s, it's now 5s vs >1s, which is much better.
Looking further I compared mkinitcpio.conf and noticed that autodetect is now installed by default. I took that out and though my list of drivers went way down the pause didn't change. Then I compared "lsinitcpio -a /boot/initramfs-linux.img" and I saw that fsck.zfs was loading so ZFS being a data drive only I uninstalled it and remade mkinitcpio. The pause didn't change.
Now "lsinitcpio -a /boot/initramfs-linux.img" and "lsinitcpio /boot/initramfs-linux.img | sort" compare the same yet the pause remains. I know something is lying because the slow pause computer has a SAS controller and the fast pause computer doesn't, and I know that I must remake mkinitcpio when the SAS controller brand changes or it won't boot without Fallback. The mptsas driver is hiding in there somewhere. So then I unpack both initrd files and by-content compare all files with Total Commander.
    Only one difference: mdadm.conf
I can't boot without the SAS controller so I can't check to see if that's the source of the pause. I suspect it is because I can see the NumLock blink halfway through the pause and I know the SAS controller isn't concerned with that.
To solve this quandary I made a quickie install on a SATA only computer. I used the fast form of /dev/md* in mdadm.conf and left autodetect in mkinitcpio.
It's fast, but there's still about a half second pause right there at udev. Out goes autodetect. Still about a half second.
Then, back at the slow pause computer, I swapped the Marvell AOC-SASLP-MV8 for the LSI SAS2008 9211-8i. See Zorinaq for what makes this possible. The pause at udev dropped to about 1s which is only a bit slower than SATA. Not really a win since the LSI BIOS boot takes much longer. The good news is that I didn't need to rebuild mkinitcpio to change controllers. autodetect is toast and I get one more degree of freedom!
I guess that's as good as it gets. Fortunately the mdadm --name option doesn't create /dev/md/* entries so I don't need to fix that.
The Internet is strangely silent on this issue. I guess you're all just used to slow boots with mdraid.
This is a bug and needs to be reported. Either mdadm scan needs to stop producing the slow form or needs to make the slow form fast.

I wouldn't use this partition type anymore. (raid autodetect is deprecated)

mdadm --name never worked well for me. I don't see many people using it.
I prefer a minimal mdadm.conf that only specifies the md number and UUID.
    ARRAY /dev/md0 UUID=627125a5:abce6b82:6c738e49:50adadae
I don't notice any delays but, in my case the raid is assembled in the background while in the foreground LUKS is waiting for me to type a passphrase.
