WAAS inline without module?

Is it possible to use a WAE appliance (WAE-512-K9) as an inline device without purchasing a WAE-INLN-4CG=? The device has 2 NICS, and I really wouldn't have a need for more than 1 port in and 1 port out.

Can someone answer this basic question? I cant seem to find that much documentation on the inline modules.
Can you confirm whether or not devices can see each other on layer 2 across the two groups of an inline WAAS Ethernet module? i.e., if I have a router connected to the WAN of group 1 and another connected to the WAN of group 2, and the two routers are running HSRP (or even an ASA cluster), will they see each other correctly?

Thanks for that. So if I had
Group1 = router1 - WAAS inline group1 - LAN switch
Group 2 = router2 - WAAS inline group2 - LAN switch
The routers would see each other through the WAAS and then the LAN switches (as if they were just connected to the switches), but wouldn't see each other directly across the WAAS module? Or you mean they don't see each other at all?

WAAS installed without Central Manager. not compressing traffic

Hi,
I installed 2 SRE modules in 2 ISR G2 router and configure them without Central Manager, but they are not doing compression, Traffic is going to Branch to Head Office but without compression.
My configuration is similar to this link

I don't have Central Manager, could WAAS works without Central Manager ?

Hi Arslan
WAAS requires a Central Manager however once they are setup it doesn;t technically require one in order to continue to to optimise traffic. If your WAAS environment is setup correctly and is intercepting the traffic http and CIFS should automatically been compressed with LZ compression. WAAS can accelerate Exchange however it depends on how your Exchange environment is setup and whether it is encrypted? If its encrypted via SSL you will need a WAAS Central manager to accelerate it.
To check if you WAE's are running correctly type in "show cms info" on the WAAS and you will probably see your WAE is status is not online:

Inline power module timeout?

I have a 6513 with WS-X6148-45AF linecards supplying power to Cisco VoIP phones.
yesterday, one of the blades experienced an error that was reflected in the logs as
...inline power module timout (25)
All the phones on the blade went down (rebooted)
Anyone know what this error is all about?

WAAS inline adapter issue

There isn't any lights on the 4 port inline adapter in the WAAS. When I plug in a wire none of the ports light up. Is there some kind of configuration, That I need to do to turn on these ports? Please help! Thank you

You definitely need an Inline Adapter to setup WAAS 674 for inline interception mode. The built in Gig interfaces cannot be used for inline interception but can be used for WCCP or PBR. Inline adapter comes in a group LAN port and a WAN port.

WAAS Inline Adaper and Microsoft NLB (ISA Server Array)

I would like to place a waas device with 4-port inline adapter between a MS ISA Firewall and the LAN switches. The ISA are unfortunately forming an array and using NLB which causes the switches to do unknown unicast flooding.

Gary,
Yes you just need to configuring your firewall to allow TCP options (specifically option 33 (0x21 in HEX)), then configure the WAEs for directed mode.
The firewall will see a TCP 3-way handshake at first so the two WAEs can auto discover each other and negotiate a UDP directed mode tunnel.
Once the auto discovery phase is complete traffic traffic sent over the WAN side of the connection will be encapsulated in the UDP 4050 tunnel (so your firewall must allow this traffic through as well).

WAAS Inline & HSRP Deployment

I'm running in a problem where auto-discovery is failing. We have remote-offices with one router and one wae in inline deployment, so far so good, this works perfect.
On the Main-Office we have two routers for redundancy, on the lan site we use hsrp.
Can I use both inline-cards two for each router ?

or do I have to put both routers behind one pair of inline-card ?

Lukas,
If traffic for a connection flows asymmetrically through both inline groups, then CSCsk47177 can prevent optimization. This is schedule to be fixed in the next WAAS maintenance release.

Waas inline in L2 environment

Hi,
A new WAAS installation is planed. The customer has 3 sites with one WAAS on each. On each site, there is no core layer. The L3 device is the ISP router. So, the WAAS will be plugged via inline interfaces between the ISP router and a switch. The WAAS will received all L2 broadcast from the LAN. There is no L3 point-to-point dedicated network between the router and the switch.
Is this scenario could be an issue ?

[SOLVED] Arch boots 2.6.31 even after 2.6.32 upgrade, without modules

Hello all,
I've upgraded my machine from 2.6.31 to 2.6.32, making sure that kernel26-headers was installed as well.
After rebooting into either the stock or fallback kernel images, 2.6.31 is what boots. The quandary here is that all the 2.6.31 kernel modules have (rightly) been deleted in the upgrading process, leaving my machine without network or LVM support.
I tried manually running mkinitcpio in various modes as described in the Wiki. It reports building a 2.6.32 image, yet 2.6.31 is what always boots up. The mkinitcpio config files all appear to be normal.
For reference, here's the output of "uname -a" on the Fallback image:

Thanks for the help, but you were a few seconds too late! I just realized the correct solution and fixed it.
Turns out when I installed the machine, I created - and used - a separate /boot partition. I had forgotten about this. Somehow, I either neglected to add it to mount at /boot in /etc/fstab, or I deleted it. While it was not mounted, GRUB was set to use it. This "broken" setup managed to work fine until the minor version number changed and the kernel modules were no longer compatible.
The first hint that there was a mysterious /boot partition was that I, on a whim, deleted the contents of /boot -- and the machine still booted! Once I found the "lost" /boot partition, it was an easy enough fix: Add it to fstab, mount it, and reinstall the kernel packages.
Thanks for helping me! If not for me posting this and awaiting replies, I would not have keep digging away at the mystery with such fervor.

File Sender Adapter without module CallSapAdapter

What happens with a message when the standard module CallSapAdapter has been deleted by accident?
I tried this out and could not find the message in the monitoring tools, although the message had been read by the adapter (it has been deleted as configured in the communication channel configuration).
I there a way to find the message?

As far as I know, I think you would not able to find the message in the adapter engine tables because the CALLSAPADAPTER module is the root cause for calling the adapter. When it is deleted then it would not be able to process the message.
You can check the message in the Message Display Tool ie Message content.
Check the tables of the Adapter engine:
Adapter Engine Tables -
Schema Name - SAPSR3DB
XI_AF_MSG AF XI Message
XI_AF_MSG_AUDIT audit log entries
If runing on PI 7.1, table names are as follows -
BC_MSG AF PI 7.1 Message

Encrypt file without modules PI or XI

We are doing the integration between Success Factors and SAP HCM (on-premise), one of the requirements from the business is to encrypt the output files.
We are using the SAP Add-On SuccessFactors BizX to integrate the systems, the step by step is:
First, we execute the reports HRSFI_SYNCH_EMP_DATA or HRSFI_EMP_DATA_REPL to send the information of Employee Profile.
This information is sent to a SFTP server. Here the client request to have an encrypted file.
Then, SFSF is able to read the information and upload the information on the cloud.
We have checked and SFSF support DSA and RSA encryption methods, which create a file with a public key. But the issue is from the on-premise side because we don’t know how to encrypt the file…the client doesn’t have PI/XI module.
Somebody know about any encryption method supported to integrate SFSF ? any BADI, Function Module, and so on.

I don't have an experience with integration with SF but I can tell you the standard method offered for file encryption in ABAP AS. ABAP AS offers support for PKCS7. It's a standard that describes how to encrypt a message. You can more find info how to use it on this forum. Search for SSF_KERN_ENVELOPE. I am not sure if SF supports this but from your description it seems like yes. Btw DSA can be used only for signing, not for encryption.

WAAS inline deployment

Hello All,
I'm deploying a couple of WAE-512's in "inline" mode for a customer. I have the configuration and seems pretty straight forward, looks like I just need to have the inlinegroup created and allow all VLAN's. I will also have a crossover connection from the gateway router to the WAE and straight through from the WAE to the core LAN infrastructure. Is there any other things I should look out for?, gotcha's,etc?. Just looking to see what other people experiences have been with this type of deployment. Thanks for your help!

Beware of duplex issues that can pop-up from time to time on FE connections, hard coding can help avoid that. I would also suggest portfast where applicable ie switchports.

Waas inline and exchange cluster

I put an WAE574 in inline mode betwen the switch and the wan router.
When i no shut the inline group, the ip virtual address of the exchange cluster is not OK but the two physical address are OK.
The exchange cluster is on the LAN
When I shut the inline group, all it's OK

I configure a static mac address on the router and a static arp.
the mac address is the cluster mac address and the arp is the ip and mac address of the cluster :

I searched in Help/Find examples too, but in a computer with the MT license and all of those examples start with MT and I couldn't open it in my computer because I think they need the MT so I have to do it that way you say, it's a good option, I hadn't thought that but needs more work, . Do you know any examples of fsk, qpsk or pcm modulations made only in Labview?
