WAAS Mobile & Windows 7

Hi All,
I was told on this board that a new version of the WAAS Mobile client would be released in the first week of April '10. New version would be compatible with Vista & Win7 both 32 & 64 bit versions.
I cant find the original thread to follow up so am posting anew.
Dont see anything in the download area. Wondering if anyone knows anything about this version - it's holding up a large project we are almost done with.
The chap from Cisco that responded was, I think, Ken - as I say, cant find the original post..
thanks!
Iain

The WAAS Mobile 3.5 release is in its final stages and is targeted for release by the end of April (this week!).

The quickest solution might be to try to reinstall followed by another uninstall, or to use the Windows Install Cleanup Utility, (although Microsoft has removed it from their support site with the following disclaimer).
    Notice
This article previously contained a link to the Windows Installer Cleanup utility (MSICUU2.exe). If you were directed to this article to solve a problem installing a product other than Microsoft Office, please contact your software manufacturer for installation support on the product.
While the Windows Installer Cleanup utility resolved some installation problems, it sometimes damaged other components installed on the computer. Because of this, the tool has been removed from the Microsoft Download Center.
Nonetheless, here is an active link and basic instructions:
    http://majorgeeks.com/download.php?det=4459
    1.     To use the Windows CleanUp utility, follow these steps:
    a.     Click Start, point to Programs, and then click Windows Install Clean Up.
    b.     Select the program that you want to remove, and then click Remove.
    c.     Click OK, and then click Exit.
If these suggestions do not help, then perhaps a case should be opended with TAC and they could assist with gathering the installer log files.

  • Windows 8 compatibility and WAAS Mobile.

    Hi, everyone,
I have undertaken the possibly mad quest of getting WAAS Mobile working on Windows 8. I am currently receiving the error "TDI driver failed to initialize." Does anyone have any insight into that issue?
    Thanks,
    Tom

    Holly,
Not news about it yet. You may discuss it with your Cisco Account team for additional details or requests.

  • WAAS Mobile 3.4 - Cannot Uninstall

One user has a windows 7 laptop and the uninstall process errors out.  Have tried uninstalling from both the programs and from the icon for program uninstall.
    Any suggestions?
We upgraded to 3.5 too - and the auto upgrade won't work either - a message came up that we have to manually uninstall the client first.

1 - How is this performed?
A driver on the WAAS Mobile Server initiates TCP connections to the application and content server using the user’s source IP.
2 - Does the waas mobile needs to be inline?
We do not recommend deploying WAAS Mobile inline. When the source IP transparency option is selected, the WAAS Mobile server should be deployed in conjunction with a Layer 4 switch such as a Cisco ACE with mac-sticky capability that redirects traffic back to the WAAS Mobile server.  The Layer 4 switch could be inline.
3 - Does it send the packets with the source ip on the header or use another option on the header?
Yes, the user’s source IP is in the header.
4 - How is the mobile server located on the topology? See response above.
5 - How can we add redundancy if the waas mobile is inline? Multiple WAAS Mobile servers may be deployed using ACE server load balancing to provide redundancy.
6 - Can the waas mobile server use the fail-to-wire feature?  WAAS Mobile servers are not recommended to be deployed inline.

  • A problem with WAAS mobile client

The customer has a problem with WAAS mobile client. When he disabled WAAS mobile client - all is working, but http is not working.:-( On the server the accelerated networks are configured. The browser send the http request, but the response is not received:-( For other clients it is working. Thank you for help.

I have WAAS mobile server version 3.4.0.1460 on the Windows2003 server with SP1. Client OS is Windows XP. All clients who use WAAS mobile client have WinXP on their notebooks. All clients are on the same network. This client sees this problem when the waas client is active, disabled, and for now when the waas mobile client is uninstalled - it seems like waas mobile client changed registers for IE or FireFox - so all http answers are redirected to nonexisting waas mobile client:-(
    Thank you

  • WAAS Mobile Server Time/Date incorrect

    Hi,
I cannot seem to find where I configured the time/date settings for the WAAS mobile server.
The Win 2008 server that the Mobile server is installed on has the right time, but the WAAS mobile server itself does not.
At the moment it is using GMT.
    Can anyone help?
    Thanks

Where do you see this GMT timestamp?  It may be by design.

  • Could any expert in WAAS Mobile see this question?

    Hi everybody!
I succesfully installed WAAS Mobile in a customer. Everything worked fine with WAAS, except for a particular application. WAAS Mobile is not working with a particular client/server Application. When WAAS Client is running, the Application Client is not able to connect to the Application Server.
Analyzing the packets capture with Wireshark, I observed that the first 3 packets are not being redirected to the WAAS Mobile Server. It is going straight to the Application Server.
At first I thought that I needed to add another process to the Proxied Process list in WAAS. But using the TCPView software I can see that the process that is sending the first packets is the one that I already added to the Proxied Process list.
The question is: Is it normal for these first packets not passing through WAAS Mobile Server? Or all the packets of the process should be redirected to the WAAS Mobile Server? Could this problem be a bug? What is the best way to troubleshoot this?
    Thanks!
    Marcio

First of all, individual packets are not passed thru to the WAAS Mobile Server. All TCP connections for accelerated applications are terminated on the client. The packet content is encapsulated and passed to the WAAS Mobile Server using a UDP connection on port 1182. The fact that you saw packets going to the application server means that the applicaiton in question is not being optimized for whatever reason. To determine the reason, please generate a client and server System Report directly after exercising the problem application with WAAS Mobile. Either open a TAC case for the issue or send the system reports to the Cisco SE assigned to your account. The system reports can then be analyzed to determine why the application is being bypassed.

  • Boutique modal boxes hidden behind .modal-backdrop, .modal-backdrop.fade.in in mobile window mode

    hi guys
I'm using the Boutique template as a starting point for my site and Ive changed the mobile set up ( max-width 767px) to incorporate a slide menu with a fixed top bar. To do this ive added a
<section id="content"> only for the mobile window and I now think its messing up the <!-- Added to cart modal window --> when you press the add to cart button.
    <div class="modal hide fade in" id="cartModal" tabindex="-1" aria-hidden="false" style="display: block;">.
On desktop its perfect, shows on top of everything else and has a nice drop shadow behind it to fade the content behind it out <div class="modal-backdrop fade in"></div>.
However when you slide the window down to less that 767px and it turns into mobile set up the cart modal window appears but is behind the <div class="modal-backdrop fade in"></div> and when you try to click on the buttons it doesn't work as the drop shadow is now in front.
This also happens for the review element as a model window appears for customers to review the product but is not accessible because the drop shadow is now in front.
Please help with a solution. I know its something ive done with the mobile 767 px set up as when I've looked at the original template it works perfect no matter what the screen size.
    here is my template http://ceramicplanet01.businesscatalyst.com/Shop/item-1
here is the original template Eye Shadow
    Any help is much appreciated.
    Dave

Ive done a quick fix for now.
    Ive realized adding the
<section id="content"> above the wrapper , with this css
    position: absolute;
    z-index: 700;
has covered the page. Im guessing the .modal-backdrop, .modal-backdrop.fade.in div has been told to cover the page in such a way ive messed up the original, and because the content section is absolute 700 (right to the top) its now above the message box and that is why the shadow is covering it.
Im not smart enough to figure out how to re align the model box above the content section so Ive come up with a quick fix of changing the
.model-backdrop fixed position from 1050 to 600 which now means its below the content section and  the model boxes are now editable and clickable for the customer on page. This does mean I lose the shadow effect for mobile devices but im not too bothered about that.
I did try to just add the rule display:none to the backdrop div but when I save this none of the model boxes would appear so again the command for the model boxes is set up in such away Im not clever enough to find and change on my own. css yes but java not too hot on.
If anyone can tell me how to set my mobile slide menu you with the back drop div still working please do as I like the feature and dont like elements on the page not being used (unused html and all that).
    thanks

  • WAAS mobile with secure access https (not VPN)

Hi all !!! Hope everyone is well !!!
I have a WAAS environment in place we want to deploying WAAS mobile for teleworkers. My question is, can WAAS mobile works for users that use secure access with https (not vpn connexion)
    Thanks in advance !!!

    Hi Tarik,
First of all, let me insist on the fact the a WAAS mobile client will not interact with a WAAS appliance on the core side and that you'll need to have a WAAS mobile installed there is you want your teleworkers to get the benefit from WAAS.
That said, let me answer your question: WAAS mobile can indeed accelerate HTTPS traffic.
This is described on page 61 of the following document:

  • Waas mobile + waas appliance

    Topology
waas mobile client ---------waas appliance---------wan---------waas appliance---------waas mobile server---------------applications/servers
What will happen in this topology?  Who is going to perform the acceleration function?
Can waas mobile client/server talk to waas appliance?
    Thanks
    Joe

    Hi Joe,
Waas Mobile and WAAS are going to be both optimizing traffic in this case.
While  WAAS mobile will tunneled all the traffic so Optimized data is  transmitted over UDP port 1182 and session initiation and control uses  TCP port 1182.
WAAS appliance will perform same transparent method,  by applying option 33 (0x21) and changing the tcp sequence so both WAE's  (dc and remote site) can see each other and apply optimization to the  tcp flow.
Since WAAS mobile will have already compressed data  initially, when the tcp flow hist WAAS appliance devices I expect that  the optimization there will be minimum.
You might  consider to have WAAS Mobile next to your VPN hubs, so remote  desktop/laptops are able to get optimization when ingress in your  network and  won't waste WAAS appliances resources  which will perform  double optimization, first in waas mobile then in waas itself.
    Hope the information helps.
    Thank you
    Rubens

  • WAAS Mobile - Client install on a biometric enabled laptop

WAAS Mobile 3.4 client fails to install on a laptop with fingerprint authentication with the message relation to "incompatible филе". Деталс аs follows:
    Authentication Manager
    BIOLSP.DLL
    Version 1.4.0.99
Any ideas how to sort this out?
    Thanks

Please park this question for now. The installation problem was resolved by upgrading the Wave Systems Dell Embassy trust suite to ver.V2.0.0.39.
The problem we have now is with the client failing UDP connection test. I will investigate further, unless it is a 'known' problem and someone knows a solution.

  • WAAS Mobile - Outlook Webmail (OWA)

While running our new instance of WAAS Mobile, we've got one issue we cannot understand.  Outlook Web Access does not work under WAAS Mobile.  If we disable it, works fine.
We are able to ping the OWA server with the WAAS Mobile client enabled or disabled however we cannot connect to it via it's web interface.
I've enabled HTTPS for the WAAS Mobile to optimize on the client but this did not help.  So far i'm at a loss.
    Any ideas?

Is the session TCOP session to OWA accelerated ?
    1)  Connect to your OWA
    2) On the WAAS Mobile Client - Go to http://127.0.0.1:9021/Acceleration_Client.html
    3) Navigate to the section Diagnostics --> TCP Sessions, Does the TCP session show up as accelerated ?
You can also collect the sysreport from the client and server and attach it to this forum.

  • WAAS Mobile HA between 2 Data Centres

We have to deploy WAAS Mobile between 2 Data Centres, with remote user connecting to either DC across VPN & then connecting to a local WAAS Mobile server. We are trying to understand the best way to configure this from the available documentation on CCO.
We are a bit confused re the role of the WAAS Mobile Manager Server.
Is this similar to the role of Central Manager on normal WAAS, i.e configuration/management etc, or does it have any function in the selection of the server a client will connect to.
Regarding HA & Load balancing of the connections between the Data Centres, this is how we think we should deploy it!
Deploy a Server Farm at each DC & use the Latency based method of farm selection. This way the client should connect to the local server farm, based on which DC the VPN connects to?
Is this correct, has anyone deployed WAAS mobile in this way or have any advice?
    Thanks
    Colin

Fabricpath is L2; not related to the L3 technology you want to use; if VRF are in use you can just use VLANs which is described in your first scenario : "use 2 routers with VRF lite configuration in each DC, then dot1q on the trunk through the Fabric Path"
