WAAS Monitoring Optimization Stats
Does anyone else have issues with getting consistent statistical data from the Monitoring=>Optimization Stats Detail
section? Specifically the Savings section.
In many cases when I look at the stats from the last hour, it displays the Savings data correctly - showing the Total Bytes saved,% reduction, etc...
If I change the time period from last hour to last day, nothing but zero's shows up under the Savings section.
I've seen this across multiple WAE's on my central manager. Running ver4.0.17.
Michael,
Under the 'Application Traffic Statistics Detail Report' section, does the note indicate that statistics are available for that time range?
Thanks,
Zach

We are getting this alert on a fair few of our VMs with VHDXs and Dynamic VHDs. Everything seems OK but I am not sure what this actually means and what I need to do to resolve the issue. How do I reset the error count if that is what is required? Thanks

The alert is coming from the Error Count Monitor that is part of the Hyper-V Management Pack Extensions (v 4.0.0.0)
I have tried looking in the Event Logs on the Host and there doesn't seem to be any storage related errors there. I am trying to establish if this is a false positive, why it is happening and if it is safe to override and ignore.
There is nothing on the Product Knowledge tab and nothing on the Alert Context other than what I have already mentioned (see below).

Hi pals,
I want to know how i can monitor DML statements, i can able to monitor select statments but don't DML statements, is there any way or script in following format:
Executer,Statement,%Completed,%left,Exec_Time,Time_left
Where
Executer is a user who runs the statement
Statement which statement runs
%completed how much DML operation completed
%left how much DML operation left
Exec_Time elapsed time
time_left how much time remaining in complete operation
I really apperciate you pals if you can give me some idea how this can be possible??
Thanks in advance
Hassan KhanHi,
These info can be found in V$SESSION_LOGOPS. But the view isn't populated for every query and sometimes it's a bit weird (I actually had queries that ouput 290% of "work" - parallel query side effect). Also notice that this is for long ops, and not everything will be reported there.

Could you please help me out of the issue?Hi,
It seems like that you are encountering event 31552, you may check operation manager event logs for more information regarding to this issue.
There can be many causes of getting this 31552 event, such as:
A sudden flood (or excessive sustained amounts) of data to the warehouse that is causing aggregations to fail moving forward.
The Exchange 2010 MP is imported into an environment with lots of statechanges happening.
Excessively large ManagedEntityProperty tables causing maintenance to fail because it cannot be parsed quickly enough in the time allotted.
Too much data in the warehouse staging tables which was not processed due to an issue and is now too much to be processed at one time.
Please go through the links below to get more information about troubleshooting this issue:

'auto optimizer stats collection' in em12cr3
During installation of EM 12cR3 the OUI noted to 'disable stats gathering job', and indicated it would disable for me.
After installation I look at dba_auto_task and see that 'auto optimizer stats collection' is enabled.
The install docs Overview of the EM Prerequisite Kit also say to disable this for the install and upgrade.
What is not clear to me is: "is this only for the install/upgrade? should the collection be enabled after the install is complete?"Hi Sherrie,
auto optimizer stats needs to be disable only during install and upgrade of 12c cloud control
Once its done you can enable the auto optimizer stats collection at Repos DB level

Auto optimizer stats collection interval
Hi,
I have a question about "auto optimizer stats collection" in 11gR2.
I see on the history, 1 execution of "auto optimizer stats collection" on Monday, Tuesday, Wenesday, Thursday and Friday and 5 executions on Saturday and Sunday.
I find the duration of each window (4 hours on Mon, Tue, Wen, Thu and Friday, 20 hours on Sat and Sun) and start date (22 hour Mon, Tue, Wen, Thur and Friday and 6h on Sat and Sun), but i don't find the interval between executions or frenquency of execution for each window.
Someone can tell me, if is it possible to change this and where ?
Regards,Thank's for all reply, but it's not the answer of my question.
I know how disable/enable automatic task, i know to add/delete window, etc ... but where can i configure the frequency or interval of the "auto optimizer stats collection" task.
I try to explain what i want to know.
By defaut, on window Mon, Tue, Wen, Thu and Fri, the task start at 22:00 and run once, the window duration is 4 hours. Why one run ?
On window Sat and Sun, the task start à 6:00 and run 5 times ( 6:00, 10:00, 14:00, 18:00 and 22:00), the window duration is 20 hours. Why 5 runs ? or why 4 hours between 2 runs ?

Visit this forum often to view responses to your questions and the questions of other community members.Very good questions. Let me try and take them one at a time. Some of the answers you will likely find in the CM GUI help (upper-left corner is the Help button), or in the online documentation. But let's add a little more color and detail.
1)When we pull bandwidth Optimization report, on Y-Axis the graphs says Effective Capacity .What is Effective Capacity?
Basically, the "effective increased bandwidth capacity" is telling you how much additional WAN bandwidth you've gained because of the optimization. It will chart somewhere between 1 times and 100 times. Typically it charts all traffic, though you can configure it to chart traffic for specific Applications.
The CDM online help gives the formulas used to chart the graph:
Effective WAN Capacity = 1 / (1-% Reduction Excluding Pass-Through)
% Reduction Excluding Pass-Through = (Original Excluding Pass-Through - Optimized) / (Original Excluding Pass-Through)
2)what is reduction % excluding and including passthrough
Looking at the formulas given above might help you understand. The one is a reduction ratio compared to only the original traffic that is optimized. The other is a reduction ratio compared to all original traffic, whether it is optimized or not. So, if you want to know what kind of optimization you are getting for the traffic that you configured to have optimized, look at the "excluding pass-through" numbers. If you want to know the positive effect that optimization is having on your full traffic load, take a look at the "including pass-through" numbers.
3)What is effectivity capacity including and excluding passthrough ?
The effective capacity is what kind of throughput you can potentially realize on the WAN -- assuming you would fill it to 100% capacity -- because of the level of optimization you are seeing. The "including" numbers show you the effect of optimization compared to all the traffic passing through the WAE whether it is optimized or not. The "excluding" numbers show the effect of optimization compared only to the traffic that is receiving optimizations.
4)With the help of which report, we can show the customer that the file download which took 10 mins in first attempt, is downloaded in 10secons in next attempt?
This one is a little trickier. The reports are much broader than a single connection. They are for all traffic, or for traffic that matches specific defined Applications. You could create a separate Application and matching classifiers for the client and/or server IP addresses and/or ports, run the test, then configure the charts to only show you the data for that Application. By default, statistics for an Application aren’t charted unless you check the "Enable Statistics" box when defining/editing the Application.
5)How to show that the bandwidth utilization has decreased by which %.
You want to look at the % reduction numbers you asked about in #2 above.
6)Which report says that the applications have become this much time faster?
These questions are normally put forwarded by many customers ? Can you please help me with your expertise answer ?
This is probably the hardest question to answer.
"Faster" isn't always easy to define. You are probably talking about user experience rather than statistics found in a network device. What determines that experience? A web page fully populating with all the pictures? A CIFS-based application that saves a file? A custom application that collects data from different servers over different protocols to perform some operation? Much of that is subjective and based on multiple individual requests, sometimes over different protocols.
What we can provide are statistics to show the effect of WAN optimization and application acceleration for specific types of traffic. We can't show you that displaying a web page is N times faster with WAAS, because we don't know which of all the many HTTP requests that are made are specific to the user experience. But we can show that each of the requests received so much overall optimization, so much optimization from DRE, so much optimization from LZ, so much added benefit from HTTP acceleration.
What you would probably do is collect some base-line timings for performing certain user activities, then perform the same operations both cold (first pass) and warm (subsequent passes). Back up those timing numbers with reports from the CM GUI, and perhaps even the "show statistics connection connection-id ". Which reports to use? Start with those Optimization and Acceleration reports. Those are the reports we expect will give the most complete/accurate pictures of the benefit of WAAS. You can also create and even schedule custom reports as needed. -
Hello,
I am running SCOM 2012 R2 UR4. Is it possible to setup a Windows Server monitor to notify me when the state change goes from Healthy to Critical? I want to setup one alert to e-mail me regardless of the reason for the state change.Hi,
Monitor only alert you once when the state changes and no further alerts will be triggered until the monitor normalize either by auto resolve or going back to the healthy state.
If an alert is required every time a state change, you will have to configure a custom alert rule.

Custom Monitor Health State Troubleshooting Techniques
Hi,
I have created a Custom Timed Script 2-state Monitor through Ops Console in SCOM 2012 SP1 and the health state is misbehaving and remains Healthy always, even while the unhealthy expression should be evaluated as True.
I have confirmed the monitor is targeted to class IIS FTP Server, as the monitor appears in Health Explorer for FTP Server and is displayed as enabled.
I have used LogScriptEvent in the script to write an event of the results of the script on the agent and the value that will be passed back to the SCOM server, so I also know the script is executing and generating the correct results.
The script returns a numeric value, either 0 or a positive value (ie. no negative value number).
The healthy expression is = 0. The unhealthy expression is > 0.
The returned value represents the number of missing files and when it is for example 12, the health state is not changing to unhealthy and no alert is generated.
I have updated the MP version and confirmed the agent receives the latest version.
I have flushed the agent health state.
I have reset and recalculated the monitor.
I have reviewed agent and server event logs and do not see any related errors.
I have used a simple alert description in case it itself had an error and was preventing a healthy state change.
I have review the xml and see no issue. I updated the monitor xml manually to receive and compare the script value as an integer (instead of the default string type that the gui creates).
I wish I knew how to see the results of the SCOM workflow that determines if a health state change is required.
My next steps in the absence of a better action plan, is to reverse the healthy/unhealthy expressions to see what happens or recreate the MP from scratch.
Any help would be greatly appreciated as I have been banging my head on this one!!Thanks for the response Andy.
Actually, you are only partially correct. The returned value IS a string by default, however you CAN cast it as an Integer if you export the MP to xml, substitute value String with Integer, and reimport the MP.
Root cause of the issue turned out to be a typo in the parameter syntax used in the health expression.
It was an easy catch once I compared side-by-side a working monitoring against the unworking monitor. Good example of how going too fast can actually slow you down :)
Thanks again for taking the time to respond! -
Deleting the all collected optimizer stats for EBS R12
Hi DBAs,
How I can completely delete the optimizer statistics related to EBS R12 running on database 11.2.0.2. Purge old stats job seems only purging the old concurrent data, not the optimizer statistics.
ThanksWhy don't you simply run "Gather Schema Statistics" concurrent program again?
How did you identify that the issue with statistics? Have you reviewed Performance Tuning docs? -- https://forums.oracle.com/forums/search.jspa?threadID=&q=Performance+AND+Tuning&objID=c3&dateRange=all&userID=&numResults=15&rankBy=10001

Hi everyone,
This is really urgent,
Early watch report has showed that our update optimizer statistics are not up to date.So i m thinking to schedule Update optimizer job thro DB13.My system setup is very big n is linux based. So when do u feel is the best time to schedule that(load wise),and how much time will it take(system is on cluster plus 14 app servers),so its a real big one and an Early watch has to be schedule jst after that.
Please advise.
Its urgentHi,
you can use brconnect as ora<sid>
if you want to update all tables you can use:
brconnect -u / -c -f stats -t all -p <number of parallel threads>
check the follwing links for more details about brconnect:

Any issue using WAAS to optimize 6500 SPA traffic?
I have a pilot that does data replication (FCIP) across a service-provider 1 gig link (100 miles). All customer data gets encrypted using 6500 SPA adaptors. Does anyone see any issue, or has anyone had experienced with optimizing (TFO) with WAAS traffic in-betweem SPAs? For ease of pilot deployment, we are using in-line WAEs and there is other traffic they'd like to optimize other than the FCIP, so placing the WAE's before the 6500 SPA adaptors is not a real option.
