WAAS virtual upgrade

We are going to replace the Physical box to Virtual Box and we have already bought (Initially Transport license) then we have upgraded to Enterprise and Video license.
Can we use the same license at Virtual WAAS? Also please confirm about Video Optimization support on vWAAS.

Hi,
You are correct, the CM is not directly involved in the optimization.
Just follow the procedures in the relase notes/upgrade guides and remember to take a backup of the cms database, before starting the upgrade.
Be aware that a new release (5.4.1a) has just recently been released, which (among other things) fixed the OpenSSL vulnerabilities (not the BASH).

WAAS OS upgrade issue

Hi ,
I upgarded the WAAS os from 4.2.3 to 4.3.3 on a WAE-274 . The "sh ver" ," sh flash" result shows the WAAS OS as 4.3.3. But in WAAS CM, under s/w version the device shows "4.3.3 {update failed} " error .
I also tried to reload the device after upgrading the WAAS OS but still Iam getting the same error message.
Please advice.

What is the CM OS current version?
Have you upgraded your device through the CM or using copy ftp install commnad directly?
It would be a good step to check the syslog in the CM and the device you have upgraded, use "type syslog.txt" command to it.

WAAS hardware upgrade

We currently have a WAAS 7341 deployed at our central location and are in the process of upgrading that hardware to a 7371. Can I simply build the new server with the same OS version and then copy the configuration from the 7341 to the 7371, or is there a specific procedure I need to follow to upgrade the hardware?

We'd need a bit more information before saying for sure. What version of WAAS? If 4.1, are you running in CIFS native mode or legacy? If 4.1, are you using SSL Acceleration?
If 4.1 using native CIFS (not legacy) and no SSL acceleration, what you're proposing should work.

WAAS is the software that runs on several different types of hardware:
WAE - Appliance-based form factor that supports WAN optimization and application acceleration features.
WAVE - Appliance-based form factor that supports WAN optimization, application acceleration, and virtual blades features.
NME-WAE - Router-integrated network module that supports WAN optimiation and application acceleration features.

WCCP assignment method mismatch

Hi all,
I am using a Cisco 3825 running 12.4(25G) code. I just upgraded my WAE (oe674) to 5.1.1c.
The WAE and router wouldnt peer due to assignment method mismatch when i do a show wccp router.

When i changed the assignment method to hash, everything worked. I believe Cisco 3825 should support Mask.

Did you try disabling wccp on router as well as WAE and re-enable it on router and then WAE and see if that makes a difference? If you have already done that and since as per documentation MASK assignment is supported in version you are running on router and it was working prior to upgrade, i would suggest capturing WCCP communication i.e HIA and ISU and opening a TAC case for further investigation. Did you follow the procedure as suggested in release notes during upgrade?
WCCP Interoperability
Central Managers running Version 5.1.1x can manage WAEs running software Versions 4.2.1 and later. However, we recommend that all WAEs in a given WCCP service group be running the same version.
Note All WAEs in a WCCP service group must have the same mask.
To upgrade the WAEs in your WCCP service group, follow these steps:
Step 1 You must disable WCCP redirection on the Cisco IOS router first. To remove the global WCCP configuration, use the following no ip wccp global configuration commands:

Router(config)# no ip wccp 62
Step 2 Perform the WAAS software upgrade on all WAEs using the WAAS Central Manager GUI.
Step 3 Verify that all WAEs have been upgraded in the Devices pane of the WAAS Central Manager GUI. Choose Devices to view the software version of each WAE.
Step 4 If mask assignment is used for WCCP, ensure that all WAEs in the service group are using the same WCCP mask value.
Step 5 Reenable WCCP redirection on the Cisco IOS routers. To enable WCCP redirection, use the ip wccp global configuration commands:

After upgrading to Lion, the Finder will increase the virtual memory while using external HD

after upgrading to Lion, the Finder will increase the "virtual memory size" while using external HD. I check it using Activity Monitor and found that "Finder" wll increase the "Virtual Memory Size" and "Private Memory Size". and then after a while. the system told me my HD is full and hanging there.
My External HD is 1TB. and I have installed new version Paragon NTFS for Mac V.9.01. I am not sure it is related or not.
but I attached my external HD. the "Finder" will start to increase the "Virtual Memory Size".
please help out this case and solve this issue.

The one has nothing to do with the other. Virtual memory size and Private memory size are used by developers to analyze their software. it has nothing to do with anything related to the user.

Problems PXE booting Gen 2 Virtual Machines after Upgrading to Windows Server 2012 R2

My Current Setup:
I have two virtual machines set up with Hyper V on my Windows Server 2012 Server.
VM1: Configured to boot from an ISO file and runs Clonezilla server.
VM2: Configured to PXE boot using a legacy network adapter, and with a passthrough 250Gb hard disk.
These two VMs are connected to an external Virtual Switch, which allows physical machines to PXE boot to the Clonezilla server.
For the past few months I have been using this setup for two purposes:
1. To clone physical machines to the Clonezilla virtual server (as a backup).
2. To restore those image to the second VM if I find that need to get access to the files on the original image..
This has worked perfectly, except for the fact that the speed of the legacy network adapter on the second VM (which is required to PXE boot) is very slow. But I know this is because of the limitations in how the legacy adapter works...
Now my problem:
I found out that Gen 2 VMs allow you to PXE boot without having use a legacy network adapter, allowing me to image back to the VM faster. So I upgraded the Server to Server 2012 R2 . I then created the same two virtual machines on the R2 server. I can still
PXE boot the Gen 1 VM to the Clonezilla Server but I cannot get the Gen 2 VMs to PXE boot properly. They get an IP address from the Clonezilla Server but then just stop with the following screen. (note: I have disabled the Secure Boot).
Are Gen 2 VMs unable to pull down images from anything other than a WDS Server?

How to upgrade iOS on iPhone when disk iTunes is installed on is virtually full

I'm trying to upgrade iOS on my iPhone. The PC that I run iTunes on is old and as such the C: has only a 40GB capacity and us virtually full. I have a symlink set up which points the default iTunes backup folder at a secondary, larger internal hard drive and I can back up my iPhone without any issue and not rake up space on C: (thanks to the symlink). However, when I try to upgrade from iOS 4.3 to the latest, iTunes complains that I have no free space and the I should free up 5GB which I can't do! I've got 1TB of available space on my network but iTunes only looks at the local disk when upgradin, giving me a scary "you'll lose all you data" type message when I try to progress. What are my options here? Uninstall iTunes and reinstall it somewhere with more space? Back up my iPhone, let iTunes wipe my data then restore from backup? Get Apple to fix iTunes? Sell everything and go and live in a commune with no electricity? Anyone got any idea? Thx

OK, I took your advice and tried to delete some of the 'crap', uninstalled a bunch of things, got Windows to 'Compress old files' and woohoo I now have 8.3GB free.
Tried the upgrade again and there's no diskspace warning, however, iTunes throws a 1303 error when trying to backup and gives a 'Continue and you'll lose everything' message.
I can backup without a problem using the Backup Now button in iTunes, but when it tries to do it as part of the upgrade it fails.
So I'm back to square 1 really after hours of harddrive 'optimisation'. Any idea how I celar the 1303?

Installing Acrobat 9 Pro on a virtual machine on my Mac using Parallels. Not an upgrade but being asked what I upgraded from.

I'm installing Acrobat 9 Pro for Windows on a virtual machine on my Mac (running Parallels). I successfully installed the same program using the same discs on the same Mac previously, but that virtual machine became corrupt and can no longer be launched. For this re-installation, the installation sequence is asking what version I upgraded from - but as this is not an upgrade, I get stuck at that step and am unable to complete the installation. What should my next step be?

This error usually comes up if the serial number you are using is an Upgrade serial number.
In such a case the installer will prompt to enter the previous qualifying version serial number.
Please send me a private message with the serial number and I will validate and confirm that for you.
If you do not have the previous qualifying version serial number then the current serial number needs to be unlocked.

9.1(2) to 10(5) Upgrade - we are already virtual on UCS

We are looking at upgrading from 9.1(2) to one of the 10.5(1) in the semi near future. We have two physical UCS servers, on each of them is a CUCM virtual server (at 9.1(2) and clustered with the CUCM on the other UCS) and a Unity Connections virtual server (at 9.1(2) and clustered with the UC virtual server on the other UCS).
I am just starting to research the upgrade, and am reading about the Prime Collaboration Deployment servers... is it a necessity to build one of these and make use of it to accomplish this fairly simple upgrade? We are a small shop, and really not looking for an additional virtual in the mix to manage. In addition, I am not sure if resources on our existing UCS servers will allow for 'carving out' a new set of resources for hosting this Prime Collaboration Deployment server.
Is it possible to upgrade a CUCM pub/sub and Unity Connections pub/sub setup from 9.1(2) to 10.5(1) without building and using the Prime Collaboration Deployment server?

Yes, you can upgrade your servers the same way we have been able since we went to a Linux appliance, go to OS page and upgrade.
Make sure to read the RNs, upgrade guide, and new and changed doc to take into account all the changes you'll need to perform in the VM, as well as the requirements for the upgrade to be successful.

This is nuts. Every other company would either give you an upgrade free or at a minimal cost. If this is Adobe's policy, I'll buy another product that does virtually the same thing at less cost and more reasonable upgrade policy.
In addition I've been looking for a support contact, even email. and can't find it except in communities or twitter which I don't use.. I'm sure it's there- I'm a Microsoft Partner and used to finding answers on a site. But if I can't find it, who can?

we have a customer with 2 different versions of cisco waas
one is running 4.1 the other 4.0 both with their own CM
the CM of the 4.0 network should disappear and the sites should be migrated to the CM 4.1
the question is how to do this as for 4.0 you first have to do the devices before upgrading the CM and in 4.1 this is the other way around, first CM then the devices
is it possible that i first upgrade the devices, reboot and then assign them the new CM?

With WAAS 4.1, the upgrade procedure has changed. The procedure described below should be followed:
1. Upgrade the standby Central Managers first (if any)
2. Upgrade the primary Central Manager
3. Upgrade all other WAEs.
In 4.1 upgrading devices configured for optimizatoin (Application Accelerator) to higher version than CM is not supported or recommended. So, pl follow the procedure described above.

I recommend doing a fresh install of Server 2012 R2 on the bare metal, enable the Hyper-V role and migrate the VMs over using these steps:
Shutdown the VMs on the current 2008 or 2008 R2 Hyper-V host(s)
In Hyper-V Manager, delete all snapshots and saved states of all VMs.
Set all the VM vNICs to use static MAC
Export each VM
On the new 2012 R2 Hyper-V server, import the VMs
