Wacky Volume on Dock issue

I have a very strange problem with my video iPod. When I set the volume to a level, and place the iPod on the dock, the volume changes (usually very dramatically, into extremely loud or extremely soft). When removed from the dock, if the volume has not been changed, the volume will revert to what it was when it was not on the dock before. This happens about 80 % of the time that I plug the iPod in. I play it while I work, but sometimes, I bump it and have to replace it. This is especially a problem at night, because the volume gets very loud when played through speakers, and has a possible chance of waking other people up. Is the iPod defective? Can I possibly fix the iPod in any way?

The new iPods appear to have a 'memory' with regard to volume set with either headphones or dock in use. They seem to 'remember' the last volume set for headphones or dock (and these can be two different volumes.) Suggestion: try 'docking' the iPod - - then, while it's in the dock, adjust the volume to what you like. I believe that next time you undock / dock the iPod, it should revert to the former 'in the dock' volume. . .

IPhone Apple dock auto max volume on docking

Hello,
First time posting here, just want to see if anyone gets this issue? I've got the official universal apple dock which was cool for my 3GS.
However, I've upgraded to the iphone 4 recently, and when plugging in the phone to the dock, it auto max's my volume as you can see it turn full bars. This is fine I guess, however, when undocking it, the speaker functions on games/ipod etc is left on max rather than the volume I normally set it at which is 50%.
How can I fix this issue? Thanks.

Note that the dock audio jack is labeled "line out". The signal out of line out remains at a constant level, regardless of the current setting of the volume control. Volume is controlled by the external amplifier or speaker controls.

Boot Camp, Expose, Trackpad & Dock issues after waking from sleep 10.6.1

Here's my setup:
13" MBP (Late 2009)
2.26 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo
2 GB 1067 MHz DDR3
500 GB HD (Seagate Momentus Non G-Force version)
OSX 10.6.1: 367 GB
Boot Camp MS Windows 7 RTM: 123 GB
All of this started yesterday. After pressing the power button to boot, the MBP would give me the Mac boot sound, and would not recognize that the "Option" key was depressed. This would cause the system to boot into Windows 7 due to the Boot Camp default setting. After trying to get the system to boot into OSX 5 times, I ended up changing the default boot OS to OSX. The MBP now boots into OSX, but still does not recognize the option key on bootup so it will boot into the Boot Camp default selection only.
The following Problems are plaguing my MBP after waking up from a sleep state when running OSX 10.6.1:
The trackpad is performing right clicks no matter how many fingers are used to click the trackpad.
The dock changes from the Un-Magnified setup to a Magnified setup.
Expose takes on average 1 to 2 seconds to switch from the tiled view back to a selected application. The animation is slow, and the windows are not properly displayed after selecting an application.
Except for the Option key not being recognized during boot, these problems go away if I restart, but come right back when the system enters the sleep mode. Help!!!

Please read this whole message before doing anything.
This procedure is a diagnostic test. It’s unlikely to solve your problem. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
The purpose of the test is to determine whether your problem is caused by third-party system modifications that load automatically at startup or login.
Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards. Boot in safe mode* and log in to the account with the problem. The instructions provided by Apple are as follows:
Shut down your computer, wait 30 seconds, and then hold down the shift key while pressing the power button.
When you see the gray Apple logo, release the shift key.
If you are prompted to log in, type your password, and then hold down the shift key again as you click Log in.
*Note: If FileVault is enabled under OS X 10.7 or later, or if a firmware password is set, or if the boot volume is a software RAID, you can’t boot in safe mode. Safe mode is much slower to boot and run than normal, and some things won’t work at all, including wireless networking on certain Macs. The next normal boot may also be somewhat slow.
The login screen appears even if you usually log in automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin. Test while in safe mode. Same problem? After testing, reboot as usual (i.e., not in safe mode) and verify that you still have the problem. Post the results of the test.

T420 Intel HD 3000 Dual Monitor Mini Dock Issue

I have a T420 with Intel HD 3000 using a Mini Dock, attached to Two external Monitor one VGA and the other one DVI, the problem is that the DVI won't work simultaneously with the VGA, after update the Intel HD driver to the last version available 9.17.10.2843, both monitors works simultaneously, but If I Reboot, Hibernate, Standby or Undock, only the primary monitor (VGA) works and the Extended (DVI) stop working.
I tried using another video driver version and updating the BIOS but not luck, Does any one know if there is a solution for this issue???

Are you trying to keep the internal display on when you connect to the external monitors?

Ipod + Winxp MCE Docking Issues(using Altec lansing Inmotion speakers)

im new to this kind of things(posting in forums) i like to share an issue and some stuff that help me out to solve them, and ofcourse a part that is not solved. here it comes.
i buyed and ipod clickwheel a year ago 40gb model(im not sure of what generation it is), it was working fine with my G5 i use a Inmotion speaker system(not im500 or im7 just a plain inmotion) and while i used the firewire cable with,it give me no trouble, recently i stop using my G5 for handling the ipod and switched to a brand new pc i brought it has Windows XP MCE (2002 SP2+up to date fixes) there is when all my troubles began, first it was amazingly hard to configure it, i mean the ipod was in HFS(MAC native file system) i will list down the issues and how i solved them in order.
1.- windows was unable to recognize it, i got an error message about "windows cant recognize the USB device".
Solution: after various attemps i decided to plug it without the Inmotion speaker system and yes it worked, windows did recongnize it
2.- after that i tried the restore option from "ipod for windows 2.0" and i got the folder and exclamation logo on the ipod, after the restoration process began and say that i have to unplug it and let the firmware flash occurs (i unplugged it ) i got the folder and exclamtion icon on the screen.
Solution: i tried the Mac/Ipod updater 2006-06-28 and it worked fine, i got the message to unplug the ipod for a firmware flash( after checking battery was full charged) and with that software it worked fine it finished and windows was able to see it,FAT32 SYTEM FILE.
3.-THE UNSOLVED PROBLEM: i been trying to break my head open why when i use the Inmotion speaker system as a bridge between the ipod and the PC( using a USB 2.0)
windows is not able to recognize it it says "windows cant recognize the USB device"(or something like it) other curious stuff is that i tried to plug it to an older PC i have i believe and Intel D850 motherboard P4/1.7Ghz that is able to see/detect the IPOD even when i plug it using the Inmotion speaker system, it says something like" USB device of high speed detected, it will work with decreased speed" but still it is able to SEE IT, while my brand new PC cant, i tried another P4/2.4Ghz and it cant detect the device(using the Inmotion speaker system). Why do i seek any words of wisdom, because those 2 speaker where very expensive here(im in bolivia right now) and i want to break them to bits, i use the inmotion as my charger station and i tend to play my songs from there it was practical i shouldn´t have buyed a 150$ bucks gadget if it wanst.
HELP: i will apreciate any help that all you may provide, i hope that all the steps above helps anyone that might have some related issues and dont use a expensive spekaer system as bridge. , and yes i will like to solve it, after all those 2 little speaker really sound great.
PD: i have tried plug it other USB 2.0 ports i have, i even tried to make it work iwthout the DC power( Inmotion speaker system,not Inmotion plus or IM5 just a plain Inmotion) cable plugged if anyone have a similar issue and need more details please let me know, and my most sincere apoligies for my english,to say the truth is not my native languaje and thanks in advance for any help.

I recently purchased a universal dock for my iphone 3g. It works great. I just had one question. When my iphone is sitting on it for lets say 20 - 30 minutes. Then if i press the buttons on the remote. nothing happens! If I then press the home button while it is on the cradle then, the remote, it plays music. There after lets say if I stop stop the music through the remote and again press the remote button after a few minutes it starts playing. So what happens after a long time. Why do i have to press the home button on the iphone for the remote to work. Is that how it is supposed to work???

Can't add volume to dock

We have one workstation that will not let us add a volume to the dock. We can add documents and applications but not a volume. The volume is on our network and is able to be mounted. It also is available in all other workstations docks.
Any ideas why we can't add it to the dock this particular Mac?

Are you adding it to the portion of the dock where the Trash is located? There is a divider in the dock that you may not have noticed. Apps and docs go to the left (if the dock is at the bottom of your screen), and drives/volumes go to the right.
Give that a shot.

Iphone dock issue after use mophie juice pack

As title i bought this "made for iphone" case (i supposed that it has to work, when even apple sold this item in its apple store) however after the first charge juice pack begins to give me problem (it connected and disconnected juice pack's battery) now, i have problem with my iphone to synch it with my laptop (windows based). with my iMAc still works properly, but now i'm quite afraid that somehow mophie's pack burn the iphone's connector 30 pin. Is there the possibility to verify this on my own?

Indeed i asked how to verify it...i would not ask if i was sure 100% about juice pack's fault. On the other side dock connector issues is the worse situation i could be in and there wasn't so much option about what eventually my phone, more over my juice pack it's actually faulty

Volume and Control Issues

Just got two new units a week or so ago, both my husband and I have had issues with sweat (apparently) causing the volume to suddenly increase and then the contol no longer works until it dries out. Given the location where apple dediced to place the controls, you would think they would be sealed and water tight.

That does sound like a major problem as I mainly use my older shuffle in gym. My biggest problem is that I can't wear the type of ear buds that Apple supplies , I need the type that go in to the canal like shures' so can't think about getting the new shuffle. Can't find any place to write Apple direct about it.

Thinkpad T20 docking issues

My Thinkpad T20 will not power on after being undocked until it is docked again. Battery indicator is 100% and Maximum Lifespan mode indicated. Anyone else with this issue?? Any solutions?/

For anyone having a similar problem -
It turned out to be in fact a hardware problem. I decided to give it a go instead of waiting a few weeks for Lenovo to fix it. It is surprisingly serviceable, basically disable the battery in the BIOS, remove 10 screws at the bottom, take off the cover (easy with a credit card), remove 1 screw for the battery, take out and un-plug the battery (wrap a small piece of tape around the battery cables to create a pull tab and not damage the cables/connector).
Then the NFC module is at the lower right of the trackpad area, with one connection to the mainboard and one to the antenna in the trackpad. It appears that the cable that goes to the mainboard was pluged in slighty offset - it had bite marks from the connector, but between the copper tracks not on them. I plugged it in again, making sure that it seats properly, put everything back together and now I have working NFC
I'm just a bit baffled that this could pass QC.

Wacky Drag and Drop issue with JNLP

I'm sure I'll have to be a bit more descriptive but I'll just throw this out and see if anyone has any suggestions.
I've got a swing app which is an administration tool to a rules engine I have built. I distribute the app to users using JNLP 1.2.
Here's the problem. When I launch the app using JNLP, a portion of the app does not work. There is a panel in which I allow users to drag items off of a tree and onto a panel. They can drag and drop one item but when they attempt to drag and drop a second item it doesn't drop. If I take that same code which is being distributed via JNLP, copy it to the local machine and run it, it works. I can drag and drop all day long.
There are no exceptions, no errors or funny gooey state things going on. I start the drag, the mouse pointer changes, I hover of the drop zone and let go of the mouse and it appears to drop, but the component does not show. Wacky.
Does this set off any bells to anyone?

Ah ha.. Yes this does seem to the issue. Thanks for the response. I've tested it on a couple of machines and it works on the one's with 1.4.1 and it doesn't seem to work on 1.4.0 jre machines.
NEW Question though, if I set my .jnlp to:
<j2se version="1.4.1+"/>
I get the 'ol 'Error Code 11 (11 Could not locate requested version'
Is there any way to get this guy to auto-install???
I've installed JRE 1.4.1 manually and it doesn't seem to pick that up either.

Nano - Volume and Settings Issue

My Nano's volume will go up and down for no reason.It happens when the Nano is locked so it isn't going up and down because I am hitting it. Also, right now the Nano seems to be set so that the song title, artist and some additional info is read before each song. Any ideas on how to fix one or both of these issues?

Volume and Track Issue

Since buying my Shuffle, I have been very disappointed in a couple of things. First, When I shut my Shuffle OFF, the voume seems to default back to very low, when I turn it back on. In iTunes,it is set and locked to MAX allowable volume. is there any way to correct this, so the Volume returns to the level when turned off?
Second disappointment is that the when I shut the Shuffle off, it basically starts at any tune randomly. My Classic, would start at the same tune all the time. Any way to resolve that issue?

Odd, my new 4th Gen Shuffle seems to do both things you want it to do in that it starts up where ever it last left off and the volume remains set the same as well.
So the next question is, when you shut it off, are you also plugging it into your computer to sync up? Vs. Simply shutting it off, then turning it back on a little bit later without ever having plugged it into your computer.

Disgraceful Design Flaw and Apple Response re: Docking issues

For everyone having issues trying to dock their Ipod Touch 4th gen the problem is clearly a design flaw with the slanted angle on the units rendering them incompatible with the majority of the docking systems of IHome / Bose / Denon or whatever. If you look at the pin on the USB cable that came with the Ipod, you'll see that it is smaller then the pins of the docking stations. I find it amazing that Apple has been entirely quiet regarding this issue even after all of the posts here about the problems people are having.
With all the money and huge sales that Apple is enjoying, we should DEMAND---but they should have offered---an adapter---FREE !!! that will allow us to use our old IHomes/Bose/Denon...or whatever systems. SHAME ON APPLE---If they don't do something to correct this problem, they should realize that we will not purchase any other Apple products until this issue is resolved

YEp, at first there were tons of individual complaint messages, and so I decided to create a website with a simple list of everyone having the issue. I said so in the forums and the Apple guys locked my account for bad behaviour (!!!!) and closed down the whole thread (with hundreds of messages).
I put it up on the web, complaining out loud of this bad move for Apple PR. Even got to be interviewed by a few internet media companies from the US and Australia.. and after that I got a call from the regional executive officer of Apple Europe (in Ireland).
They unlocked my account and agreed to inspect the case. They asked me to go to a service centre where they would exchange the cover and send the deffective one to California for testing.
Even today, after 2 years, if you look for my name on google you get more than 1,000 results just about this issue.
