Wacom Bamboo Touch Pads

Is Lightroom compatible with the Wacom Bamboo Touch Pads?  I'm looking at buying one, but am hesitant if it doesn't work with Lightroom 2.0.
Here's the link to their website.

Thanks.

Here's a blog entry that mentions the use of the Bamboo with Lightroom http://www.canonblogger.com/2009/06/29/wacom-bamboo-fun-hardware-review/ (go to last few paragraphs)

I'm using LR2.5 English on a Mac with a French keyboard. I want to be able to use the Wacom speed keys to change the size of the brush when doing local edits. When I enter the right or left square bracket ] [ - either via the keyboard or a Wacom speed key -, with the brush active, the message "Increase rating" or "decrease rating" flashes on the screen. In other words, the square brackets seem to be sent to the wrong module.
On the mac French keyboard, the square brackets are not shown on the keys: you need to get them with the Alt Shift keys.
I'd most appreciate any advice on how to get the brackets sent to the right place to modify the brush size.

Windows 7 has built in Touch pad adjustment choices. Did you try playing with them?
Also posters in other threads reported that removing the Wacom drivers, rebooting, the "manually" installing the Wacom drivers fixed a lot of issues with Windows 7/PS CS5. Something with auto-installing the drivers was borking things up. The posters even called Wacom and Wacom walked them through the driver install.

  • I am trying to install the driver for a Wacom Bamboo Pad. The dmg from Wacom downloadsand will opens, but when I try to install it the message "Install Wacom Tablet.pkg" can't be opened because the Identity of the developer cannot be confirmed"

iMac late 2009 3,06GHz Intel Core Duo; 500gb hard drive, 12gb memory. OS X 10.8.5 (Mountain Lion)
'“Install Wacom Tablet.pkg" can't be opened because the Identity of the developer cannot be confirmed.'
I have been trying to install the driver for a Wacom Bamboo Pad. There are several driver packages listed on the website (the device is supplied ready to run with Windows devices) and I have tried tried downloading all the available drivers which apply to my set-up. Some will not open at all and I get a 'Damaged' message on my screen. Of the ones which open, I can download the .dmg and expand it but when clicked it opens as a window with multiple choice of languages and an icon which instructs you to click to open.
If I do this some versions repeat the 'damaged' message but the later ones generate a window saying:-
'“Install Wacom Tablet.pkg" can't be opened because the Identity of the developer cannot be confirmed.' - this is as far as I can get it to go; most frustrating!
I understand that Apple's security updates have recently included an alteration that causes this result, and that there is supposed to be a legal (i.e. Apple sanctioned) workaround to allow files like this to be opened. If this is so, can anyone enlighten me?

    Many Thanks, Kurt.
I knew I'd seen the solution you've provided somewhere - either in MacWorld or MacFormat - but couldn't remember the Gatekeeper bit!
I shall save it somewhere VERY safe now in case this happens again …
You have made an old man very happy and saved me from worrying that senile decay had suddenly set in. (I was 70 last week so you might understand the situation from that.)

  • Lightroom 4.0 & Wacom Bamboo (Pan/Scroll Function)

    Hi guys,
just updated to LR 4.0. Unfortunately I can't use the pan/scroll function of my Wacom Bamboo Pen & Touch anymore. I set my »back button« of the pen to »right click« and my »front button« to »pan/scroll«. So if I press the front button I can scroll and pan through the windows (browser, finder, etc.). In LR 3.6 I could use the pan/scroll in each module - especially in Library - Grid View, Navigation and Menus I always used it to scroll through. Since LR 4.0 I can't - if I click the pan/scroll button LR always zooms in or goes into Loupe View (from Grid View). It's like hitting the space bar or left click. I don't know why. I deinstalled and reinstalled LR already. I checked my Bamboo driver as well. I went through LR's preferences, but like in LR 3 there's no way to change keys (like in PS). It drives me nuts!
I'm using Mac OSX 10.6.8 with LR 4.0 and Wacom Bamboo Pen & Touch.
    Thank You!
    //edit
Cool. Solved it! Just reinstalled the driver and LR again. Don't know what happened or what's different now, but it works ...

The same problem here. However, like somebody mentioned scrolling up and down helps. Also, What I did, I set up the scroll speed to the minimum. That gives you much more control in Premiere Pro, but when you go to web to check something, better have mouse near your tablet, cause scrolling web on minimum is freakin' slow. A good solution for that is to have turned on the touch option and scroll with 2 fingers. The pen scroll and the tuch scroll can have separate speeds.
BTW. ADOBE FOR GOD'S SAKE! FIX IT PLEASE. IT DRIVES ME NUTS!!!!!!!!!!!
And now I'm angry again... all because of you Adobe!

  • Can any of the Wacom Bamboo tablets be used the illustrator software?

I am looking to purchase a wacom bamboo tablet, but I want to make sure that when I sync it up I can use it with the illustrator software on my macbook pro?

No, the Creative Cloud products are desktop apps requiring Mac OSX or Windows 7 or 8 (XP is OK in some cases).
    http://www.adobe.com/products/creativecloud/tech-specs.html#requirements
Adobe offers Touch apps for the iOS operating system (which includes iPad) which are a separate purchase through the Apple App Store, not included in the Cloud membership.
Adobe originally intended to include them in the Cloud membership but they could not get past the Apple App Store restrictions (must purchase iOS apps from the App Store so that Apple gets its cut) - thus Touch apps are a separate purchase.
    http://news.cnet.com/8301-1001_3-57434413-92/blame-the-app-stores-adobe-touch-apps-not-in- creative-cloud/
12 months ago, Touch apps included a range of different apps but that range was shrunk last year to just two: Adobe Photoshop Touch and Adobe Ideas.
    http://www.adobe.com/products/touchapps.html
Once purchased, Adobe Photoshop Touch and Adobe Ideas do integrate with the Cloud for file transfer, share and storage so you can use them with a workflow which includes Cloud products.

  • Apple Smart Mouse vs Touch Pad for Aperture, etc.

I switched to an iMac a few years back and really love it. My only "complaint" is that the Smart Mouse (which I really love the functionality of) is a bit too small and no one has deemed it necessary to make a larger one. Every time I go into the Apple Store hoping for a larger version, it is suggested I try the Touch Pad.
So the question is - for those who use the Apple Touch Pad for applications like Aperture, Photoshop/Pixelmator, Nik Software, etc. - how is the control using the Touch Pad vs a mouse? I know that it is fine for "normal" - meaning non-Photographic applications - and I can use all the gestures that I would miss with a normal mouse. (Before you suggest it I have a Wacom tablet, but generally for quick touch ups I just don't bother taking it off the closet shelf.)
    Thanks, Steve

Hi Steve -- I imagine this is as much a matter of personal preference (and skill) as actual performance.  IME, the Magic Mouse is just about the worst pointer to use with Aperture.  The Apple touch-pads are (again, just my opinion) excellent.  I don't hesitate to recommend that you try one out.  There are some touch-pad techniques that may not be obvious: roll your fingertip for minute changes; use one index finger to click, and the other to drag; etc.
I also recommend any high-resolution mouse (generally sold as a "gaming mouse").  I used a Razer Naga until it wasn't updated to work with 10.8;  I switched to Logitech's G600 12-button mouse.  The programmable buttons accelerate my work, but (imho) high-resolution is the feature you really want.  I have my entire dual-monitor workspace mapped to an area about 2" x 4", and can move the mouse curser very close to pixel by pixel.
Both the high-res mouse and the touch-pad are _more_ precise than the Wacom Intuos Medium.  In my hands, the cursor regularly moves a pixel or three when I lift the pen.  With the touch-pad or the high-res mouse I can work at Image resolutions smaller than 100%.  With the Intuos, I am better off at 100%.

  • Wacom Bamboo Writing

I just purchased a Wacom Bamboo and it works on my Mac.  I just have one problem.  I bought it so I could WRITE on my documents, not have it convert it to text.  I am a teacher and I would love to be able to write on my word documents and my powerpoint slides (I have Microsoft Office) just like if I were to print them and write all over them with a pen.  (Just like what my students will be doing).
Any suggestions to make this work on a Mac???

    Kristina Underwood wrote:

The Wacom converts to text because computers are based upon interchangable text unfortunately.
I would love to be able to write on my word documents and my powerpoint slides... just like if I were to print them and write all over them with a pen.
For this you need software that either acts like a intermediary and turns scribble into graphics and places it on the Word and Powerpoint docs, or software that works more closely with a tablet to allow freehand entrees.
Any suggestions to make this work on a Mac???
Not in a "non-kludge" manner no. It requires a better marriage between hardware and software for that express purpose.
There are Windows PC based tablet/laptops that do this, it's designed for that purpose and there is significant market share on Windows (90%) in the business world for this sort of niche option to exist.
Mac's have 10% market share and cater to the more luxury consumer market, with some dual purpose here and there, but there isn't enough to justify making such a device.
A iPad comes close, but the screen is designed for touch, not fine detail writing/drawing which you would require.
    Sorry.

  • Problems with Wacom Bamboo pen and Lightroom 2.5

When I use my tablet pen and hover over a photograph in lightroom 2.5 64, Windows gives me an error message that Adobe Lightroom has closed due to error.  This does not occur if I use my finger on the tablet instead.  The touch and pen work with all other applications I use.
Any ideas as I can still return the tablet to Best Buy?
I have Windows Home Premium 64, Wacom Bamboo Pen and Touch with the upgraded driver for vista 64.  I also have Elements 8.

Sorry, I have no solution. Just want you to know that the same configuration works for me. The driver I am using is version 5.2.0.7,

  • Right stylus (mainly for note/annotation): Targus 3-in-1 (stylus/laser pointer/pen) or Wacom bamboo solo?

After reading several good reviews about Wacom bamboo stylus solo ($30), I deceided to buy one for my iPad 2. But today, I found Targus 3-in-1 (stylus/laser pointer/pen) for just $20 (original price around $40). Now I am bit confused.
Can the users of these styli please suggest if Targus 3-in-1 will be better buy than Wacom bamboo stylus ($30) in terms of quality and value for money (as it is on sale now)? I know that only laser pointer costs around $20. Do you still suggest that for $20 Targus 3-in-1 (Stylus/laser pointer/pen) will be unworthy (compared to Bamboo) on quality & durability aspect!

    Version 0.10.10-15 fixed it.
Version 15 added driver side support for d6 and d7 models, that means CTH-460/K and CTH-461/S aka Wacom BambooPT 2FG 4x5 and Small. They should be fully working out of box now.
    BUMP
i bought one wacom cth-460 today       "056a:00d6 Wacom Bamboo Pen & Touch (CTH-460)"

  • Wacom Bamboo - a few questions

So, I have a wacom bamboo MTE-450, and (as stated above) I have a few questions.
    1. On ubuntu and the likes, I can simply plug in my tablet and it works fine. How does it do that? Do they have wacom drivers preloaded?
    2. Is there a way to do the said 'plug it in and it works', or is it easier to manually configure it?
    3. If I manually configure it, can I assign the buttons easier?
That's it, hope someone can help.

I just finished installing the very same model.
I used the "Wacom Tablet" guide in the wiki and works fine.
The only thing that did not work for me was that in the wiki it says that we should use : cat /proc/bus/imput/devices to find out the device we should use. In my case it ended up being /dev/input/event4 but it did not work.
Some googling later I found that we can use /dev/input/wacom and after that everything was just fine.
Note: The buttons are not working for me, so far, but I'll do some research on the matter and post if I find something.
Here are my changes to my /var/X11/xorg.conf

  • The scroll feature on my touch pad does not work with 4.0. Works in all other apps including 3.6. What hapened???

I can not scroll through web pages with the scroll feature on my touch pad. It worked in 3.6 and all other programs that I use. I have tried 4.0 twice with the same results, I've restarted, rebooted etc.
This should not be application dependant but a system function.
Now I will either roll back to 3.6 where I have troubles with some secure sites or just dump the whole thing and try Chrome.

I have discovered the solution and it involves an issue I suspected. After the restore of my old Time Machine Lion files to my new MBP running ML, the restore restored my computer back to Lion. After an install of ML, my computer worked perfectly except the fancy Scroll and zoom featured we all love from the trackpad. Ha already installed ML on other partitions and the trackpad worked perfectly on them.  Even the guest login's trackpad worked perfectly but not the main admin account.
First thought was to create a new admin account and copy everything from the old admin to the new admin and then delete the old admin account. Hated the idea because all files had to be copied rather than moved.
So what was left to do. I had thought of deleting all the apple preferences from the library and replace them with the contents of the library on another partition in ML. First I deleted old preferences many of which were old Lion preferences. That didn't solve the issue.
I forgot that Lion and ML HIDE the user library so I was working on the wrong library. Discovered the Terminal command "chflags nohidden ~/Library" and I chose to reveal the user library on a ML partition.
    Solution:
I booted into another ML partition. I guess that I could have booted into the new admin user account and changed the permissions  to access the old admin users Library But I chose to boot
from another ML partition: copy ALL the com.apple. XXXXX.plist files and the folder  BY Host. It has special hidden files. Other  way is to copy the Preferences folder we'll say into the Desktop.
I then proceeded to delete ALL the com.apple…….plist files and the Host folder into the trash. Then I copied all the apple.com…plist files and the Host folder and then rebooted. And now my wonderful Trackpad works as mountain Lion intended it to work.
I'm leaving this solution because there's someone else in the MacWorld with the same issue.

  • Wacom Bamboo Tablet with Adobe Photoshop Elements 8.0 install on Newly bought Windows 8.1 laptop

So I bought a Wacom bamboo tablet a while back when I had windows 7, which it came with Adobe Photoshop 8 on a CD with product code. I upgraded and bought a new laptop with windows 8 and no CD drive. While I managed to re download the things needed to make my tablet work from their site, I realized I can't download Adobe elements 8 for my laptop because of two things:
    1) I have no CD drive
    2) Adobe Photoshop Elements 8.0 seems to only be for windows 7 and under.
My question is Is there any way for me to get this back on my laptop or am I out of luck in that department? I'm not quite sure I can manage the money to purchase the newer Elements for windows 8. Is it hopeless for me to work with this program again?

You can try this version of pse 8 from the adobe site:
    Download Photoshop Elements products | 9, 8, 7
As far i know know, pse 8 should work on windows 8.1
