Wacom Cintiq 13hd works on Mavericks?

Wacom Cintiq 13hd works on Mavericks?

After the Mavericks upgrade on my MacBook Pro 17" (Mid 2009) my Cintiq 13HD had an annoying intermittent "blink" or shot-off and back-on of varying length's and intervals. I had read, and subsequently did in fact find, that a PRAM NVRAM reset fixed the blink, but after resetting the Energy Setting in systems Preferences to "Best performance" to  keep necessary 3D functionality in PS CC the "blink" returned.
I then saw, here in the Apple Community in an old 2012 OS X 10.8 update thread by @koliaG a suggestion by @GISMAC, that starting the laptop without the peripheral display attached, then connecting the mini display adaptor (in that case a VGA -in my case to HDMI) alone, and then the display to the adaptor allows the laptop to recognize the adapted means of peripheral video connectivity  and then subsequently the display and it's differing resolution.
The mini display adapters further complicate things by apparently being notoriously faulty. I am on my third brand  now.

  • Photoshop CS5.1 64-bit crashes whole system when using Wacom Cintiq 13HD

    Hello,
I've got a big problem and Wacom Support/Forum wasn't really that helpful at all, so I hope someone here has the answer.
    I'm using:
    - Windows 7 Premium 64-bit with Service Pack 1
    - Intel i7-267OQM 2,2 Ghz CPU
    - Nvidia GeForce GT 635M 2GB
    - 8GB RAM
    - Adobe Photoshop CS5.1 64-bit
    - on an ASUS N55S Laptop
My new Wacom Cintiq 13HD runs just fine while just browsing on the internet, with Adobe Illustrator (so far...) and Easy Paint Tool SAI.
But everytime I open my Photoshop it's just some minutes before my system freezes for a second, than blue screen appears und my whole
System crashes down. Every. damn. Time.
I read in the Wacom Forum that more people have this problem, but all suggested solutions by Wacom just don't work.
    Here's the link: http://forum.wacom.eu/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=14060
The one thing I didn't try is using the USB Extensions, so I will buy some tomorow and try that too.
But maybe someone has an other idea that could help?
I tried all drivers Wacom has avaible but it still happens. I updated my Adobe Softwares, my BIOS, my graphic card, I restarted countless times,
    but nothing seems to work.
    Help me, please!

  • Connecting a Wacom Cintiq 13HD to iMac (2012)?

I have been having issues connecting my 27" thunderbolt iMac (2012) to my Cintiq 13HD so far i have bought several adapters and have done several diffent methouds along side it. I am now at a point where the iMac screen goes blue for maybe 2-3 seconds but doesn't mirror across to the cintiq. can you help?

Have you updated the latest Wacom cintiq's driver?
Do you have another (third monitor) attached to your imac? Are you using your Cintiq as "second" display?
Some people connect the cintiq through adaptor, which would make the cintiq the third display.
Normally, as I know, imac can get hooked up to only one monitor (as second display).  The imac wouldn't recognize the third display unless you have an adaptor.
In any case, if your cintiq is a second monitor, you shouldn't have the problem you mentioned.  May be the cintiq is defective or it's your driver isn't up to date.  I also have a cintiq13hd connected to an imac as second display and it works just fine.
    Hope this help.

  • Does Wacom cintiq 24hd work with windows 8?

    Hello!
I want to buy the Wacom cintiq 24hd (the non-touch). I'm reading a little around the different sites, but I'm not able to see if it works with windows 8 or not. I need to know this so I can be sure I can use it with photoshop. I hope you are willing to help me out on this!
    -Karen

Wacom's own page for the Cintiq 24HD specifically states Windows 8 as one of OS's that work with it. (It's at the bottom; you have to click to expand the specs.)

    Well David,
I would not blame Wacom for -not- supporting a low-end-product like this one, and afaik: first introduced 2006.
This is not a product for professional use and as an incidental user I am quite satisfied with the present solution.
Therefore I do congratulate the Apple-community for concocting a solution like this which in fact is an extremely easy one.
    Sidenote:
Although I am satisfied with this solution, not all configuration items of the control panel are available, e.g. the tablet buttons.
Still my tablet functions as one would expect, as I like working with my Graphire 4 (CTE-440) together with programs as The Gimp, Inkscape or GraphicConverter.
    To end with:
Well, to be clear: it's a workaround, even being a simple one. Have been looking for a solution since my transition to Yosemite. Starting some week ago I would have been contended to allot this one to E-bay or something a-like for 'next to nothing to old songs'. Now I'm happy again.
    Greetings,
    Erik.

  • Wacom Cintiq 21UX not working with MacPro TB!!!

Just got the 3.5 ~ 6 core and 3 of Apples TB –> DVI connectors.
OOOPs! My Wacom Cintiq 21UX needs DVI-I connectivity. So I go to BEST BUY and purchase a ROCKETFISH RF-AP306...
I plug into BUS 0, BUS 1, and BUS 2 and cannot get the Wacom monitor to sync with the Mac Pro.
I get an Apple Logo on startup, then black screen with a cool male voice saying, "To continue with ENGLISH as the main language... press ENTER", or something rediculously cool like that. I didn't even have a KB paired, so... I'm stuck...
    NO SYNC on Cintiq.
Sooooo ~ I set up ANOTHER monitor and use an APPLE MDP —> DVI adapter and boing<!> I'm up and running (somewhat)
Still NO entry for Cintiq in the DISPLAYS PREFS PANE.  The PEN SURFACE WORKS through the USB port, and it immediately brings up "Handwriting Gestures" on OTHER monitor!
    U S I N 6  h N n dW r I t I ngN OW!S 0 0 0Co 0 l (Needs work, though)
Does anyone have any info or ideas for me?!? I'm going to FRYs to get a different brand of DVI-I connector... we'll see. Thanks in ADVANCE!!!

I have not heard of anyone using a RocketFish adapter successfully with a Mac.
DVI-I is a composite interface. It is what is usually issued by a computer output port, but I do not know of any cables that carry it all through, except perhaps the ones that shipped with the Cintiq. DVI-I contains all of DVI-D (the digital Interface) plus it has a set of VGA pins in the blade at the end and the four pins around it (plus one more in the top row of the grid used for both). Salmon-pink in the diagram below:
Click on the diagram to see it slightly larger.
    Diagram courtesy wikipedia
I think they are trying to say you can use DVI-D *OR* use their cable and connect in a VGA that will be shuffled around to come in on the reserved pins on their ONE connector (so they saved money by not having to have a separate VGA connector as well).

  • Does the Macbook retina work with the Wacom Cintiq tablets?

I have the original Wacom Cintiq 21". Will the MacBook Retina work with this?

Yes - I have a 2012 MacBook Air and it works with a dual-link dvi adaptor only otherwise you'll end up with a lower resolution.
Took a while to work out, but works very well. It's also expensive
The Hdmi only supports 1080 and not the full 2560 x 1080. The other cables are useless.
It also works on windows 8 using boot amp
    Hope this helps

  • IMac Mavericks + Cintiq 13hd = crash

I have the same problem an other user has.
    Joenade
"If I turn on the Cintiq AFTER the imac is already on, my imac screen will go dark and everything crash.  Only way to fix it is to force the imac to turn off by push the power button.
On the other hand, if I turn the Cintiq's power button on BEFORE or AT THE SAME TIME with the imac, everything will work just fine."
    Anybody with the same problem?

I have tried on an other Imac (OS Maverick) and the Cintiq 13 works perfecty.
The only difference between the 2 Imac is that they have 2 different video cards.
The one working has a ATI Radeon. (Imac of 2011)
The one not working (Imac of August 2013) has an Nvidia Geforce 640
    I have discovered a trick.
If I put the monitor on sleep with CMD + ALT + Eject and then I turn on the Cintiq, it will work without problems.
Is it probably a video card issue?

  • Photoshop CS6 preferences and scrubby zoom are grayed out on Cintiq 13HD but not on my laptop?

So basically I got a new Cintiq 13HD and apart from finding out that there's screen rotating issues for lefties, there's also some Photoshop issues.
Scrubby zoom is my favorite zooming tool, and when I opened Photoshop on the Cintiq the option was grayed out. I Google this and it tells me to go to preferences but that's grayed out too. It works perfectly fine and not grayed out on my laptop however, so I'm not sure what I can do about this.
This may well be a Wacom problem and not an Adobe one, but I said I'd ask here.

    Hi Emily
We don't have as many Cintiq users on this forum as you might think, and most of use would be guessing when trying to think, so you might do better asking on the Wacom Cintiq forum  However, my own experiences using the Wacom forums have not been favourable.
So I'll start with that guessing process, and my first guess is that Photoshop is only installed on the laptop, and that the Cintiq has to be connected to it?  If that is the case, you need to tell us what the laptop is, and its operating system and version.
I understand that the much more expensive Cintiq Companion operates as a stand alone device, but this is not relevant to your problem.
You probably need to make sure your laptop's video card driver is fully up to date from the card makers website, and that our Cintiq has the most up to date driver.
BTW  A very quick Google tells me that Mac systems with Mavericks have had issues with your tablet.

  • Why does illustrator CC crash on open in my macbook after installing cintiq 13HD?

I used illustrator CC for a while and it was working fine. Then I got the cintiq 13HD and I setup eveything was required to make it work. I tried it with most of my applications specially photoshop, flash and even watched a movie on the cintiq and everything worked just fine. Then, I wanted to use illustrator CC but it started to crash every time I try to open it. So I contacted Adobe customer care two times the fist time the resolve was to delete my preferences from the library by clicking on finder the from the menubar I click go then go to folder then I write "~/Library/" then "Adobe illustrator 17" and I delete the folder inside it. So, I followed the steps and it worked so I had to orgnise my tools, colors and everything but it worked. However, some of my saved documents didn't work. The next time I tried to open illustrator it crashes again and I had to do all the steps again and again. Everytime I need to use illustrator I have to delete that folder and reorgnise my tools.
so I contacted them again the guy answers was we do not support tablets! and he wasn't helpful at all.
So can anyone give me an answer. How can I use illustrator on my cintiq without facing this problem?

Seems to me like the Wacom is introducing an additional "screen" area which gets stored in the workspaces or something like that and they do not initialize properly when opening the program. Probaly a bug for which you will have to wait to be fixed in an update...

  • Macbook Pro 15-inch, late 2011 - Wacom Cintiq 21UX 2

Today i was asked to hook up a Wacom Cintiq 21UX to a brand new MBP...
After hooking up all the cables the Cintiq started displaying distortion, like a noise in the vertical lines of the screen.
Wacom suggests to check the cables and try a different machine connecting with both DVI and VGA so i used an early 2009 17-inch MBP and connected both machines using both adaptors.
The 17 inch worked perfect with both VGA and DVI no distortion at any resolution
The 15 inch could not connect using DVI. Using VGA the screen started displaying the noise at 1344x1008 up to 1600x1200
Furthermore i tested the performance on both machines opening an identical .psd document at 300dpi and when using the brush tool noticed more latency on the 15-inch than on the 17-inch 2009 model. both MacBooks are running 10.7.2 with most recent software updates installed.
Is the distortion related to the Intel HD-video 3000?
Why is the 15-inch not connecting using DVI?
How come a late 2011 model has more latency than an early 2009 model?

Your 15" MBP shouldn't be running on the Intel HD3000 video if you're plugged into the adapter.  Your MBP should automatically switch to the the much more powerful AMD 6750 card that comes with the new MBP's.  If you're not sure it's switching, download gfxCardStatus, which gives you control over the video card.
Getting the right video card to run may cure some of your issues.
A new 15" MBP does not have a DVI out, so I assume you mean Thunderbolt to DVI connector?  Maybe that could be the issue?

  • Because a USB device was drawing too much power from your computer, one or more of your USB device have been deisabled - WACOM Cintiq 13

    Hi,
I recently got a Wacom cintiq 13, with 3 in 1 chord, which I am now using on my MBP early 2011. The wacom (that has an external power supply) works fine with USB connected however everything else wont and I'm getting the above mentioned error message, even when I connect the usb to an external power source.
Tried resetting PRAM,  and SMC - didn't help.
And I cant reach my backup since there on an external hd.
    Any help?
    Thanks

Try a different USB cord, seen this many many times, its highly likely a damaged USB cord.
Restart the computer to redefine Port definition.  If still a problem
You can also resetting PRAM/NVRAM:  http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1379

  • Photoshop CC 2014 crash when opening or creating new files when running with Cintiq 13HD.

I have a problem where Photoshop CC 2014 crashes when trying to open or create a new file while the Photoshop window is being displayed on my Cintiq 13HD.
When Photoshop is being displayed on my main monitor it doesn't crash.
I'm running Windows 7 (64 bit) and have updated my graphics and wacom drivers to their latest versions and Photoshop is completely up to date. (I'm running the 30-day free trial)
Here's the event log of the crash:

  • Photoshop CS4 not opening & Wacom Cintiq 20WSX driver problem

    Hello,
I have been using Photoshop CS4 for quite sometime now with no issues. I have just started using a Wacom Cintiq 20WSX and installed all the necessary drivers and now Photoshop will not open (I have seen other threads relating to Intuos tablets but not the Cintiq 20WSX).
I have unistalled the Wacom drivers and Photoshop will open, on reinstalling the Wacom drivers the problem starts again "Photoshop cs4 has stopped working".
I am running Windows 7 Home Prem 64bit. Photoshop CS4 has all current updates and I am using the most recent driver for the 20WSX from Wacoms site.
Any suggestions as this is really really frustrating. (I have not yet attempted to uninstall Photoshop and reinstall it)
(Incidently I am using the Production Premium CS4 Suite and everyhting else appears to be unaffected -AE, AI are opening with no issues)
    Thanks!

Hi. I had the same problems with my Intous4 as well, and since both cintiq and Intuos use the same driver it probably is the same.
Try this. Uninstall the wacom, unplug it, restart the pc. Then download the latest driver from the wacom site (if you didn't already), and install that latest driver alone, without installing the one that came with the cintiq. This is how I solved my problem, it wouldn't open PSCS4 64bit and AE

  • If I daisy chain two Thunderbolt Displays to a 2011 iMac 27" can I connect a Wacom Cintiq HD to the other Thunderbolt port?

In one Thunderbolt port are the two Thunderbolt displays, in another Thunderbolt port is the Cintiq HD. Would this work on an iMac 27".

Looks like 2 external displays are the max, even for the 2-port (TB) iMac.  So if the Cintiq shows up in ASP and is considered by the computer as a display, then NO, you won't be able to use the Wacom Cintiq in 'addition' to (2) TB displays.
