Wacom Intuos4 keys bug on AE CS4/5 on Win7 64bit

After a lot of futzing, I still can't get the ExpressKeys and the Touch Wheel to operate as a jog - it turns out that any key that is replicated as a Num-Lock key on the keypad fails to work properly in AE. For example, the Wacom control panel sends {page down} as {keypad-3}, whether you have Num-Lock on or not, but only in AE. I tried older Wacom drivers as well. I checked with Wacom support, and they were able to recreate it and said it's a problem with After Effects on Win-64 bit, both CS4 and beta CS5, so they aren't going to fix it and instead "passed the information to Adobe". Basically it probably won't get fixed until CS6, if even then...
So my recommendation is, if you're running 64-bit, avoid the Intuos4 if you really want to use the ExpressKeys or Touch Wheel as a jog.You can probably save money getting an Intuos3 instead.
However, if anyone has been able to get it to work, please post or let Wacom know!

LR 2.6 and Wacom Intuos4: Performance issues

Hi folks,
recently I added a Wacom Intuos4 graphic tablet to my PC (Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit; Intel QuadCore 3 GHz and 8GB RAM) for more precise actions in Lightroom and Photoshop. Before I added the Inuos4 the Lightroom performance with the adjustment brush and the gradient tool worked well,
without anything to complain about. Now, that I am using the graphic tablet both tools are very slow and the CPU consumption of LR rises up to about 70%-80%. In Photoshop however, the Intuos4 is no perforance issue, everything works as good as before when I am using the tablet.
Anybody else having this problem and/or even knowing why this is so?

This machine has a GeForce GTX 285, so either the problem does not affect all nVidia cards, or there is some other problem trigger that is missing on my system. The machine is only about 1.5 months old, and I take care not to have crappy/unneeded processes running in the background. I also do not really use the tablet much with Lightroom, so it might be that I simply do not perform the kind of actions that trigger the problem. I have tried going really overboard with gradient filters and adjustment brushes for testing purposes though, and have not been able to reproduce the problem. CPU usage does go up noticeably while dragging a gradient filter, but this is to be expected due to the computational complexity of the task, and at no point does it ever make the operation feel sluggish.
System specs for comparison:
Intel Core i7 920 @ 2.66 GHz
6 GB DDR3-1600
GeForce GTX 285 1 GB (using the 196.21 drivers)
Windows 7 64-bit
The system disk (where Lightroom itself is stored) is an Intel SSD, but the catalog and the photos are on rotating media.

Cannot open or save files after re-install CS4 on Win7 64bit

Hi,
Re-isnstallation of CS4 on a win7 64bit plattform was no problem. But - I can not open any kind of files, neither *.psd nor *.jpg. Even creating a new file in Photoshop is not possible. I do not get a message from Adobe/Photoshop.
Now I am looking for any idea to solve this problem.

Is this a bug of flash cs4?

I've noticed that when I place a MovieClip element on both key frame1 and key frame2 from the content library, and let the instance on frame1 has no instance name, then the instance name which I give to the instance on frame2 has no effect at all——namely I can't refrence it by action script code on frame2 of the main timeline.
I checked the content of the binary-file outputed by flash cs4, and got that after the first ShowFrame Tag, the instance was modified by the PlaceObject2 Tag, but the PlaceFlagHasName was not set, is this a bug of flash cs4? Has anybody else encountered this problem?

When I create a new movieclip on the stage (your stage),
and trace it, I get the expected result..
Doing the same on your movieclip on the exact same stage
gives undefined...
I cen't event reproduce the problem on my own. Only with your
movieclip.. Extremely weird indeed..

Wacom Intuos4 tablet settings keep resetting after reboot

I am not sure if anyone else is seeing this but on my fresh install of 10.6, I installed the latest drivers for my Wacom Intuos4 tablet and every time I reboot, the configurations are reset to defaults.
I've also noticed that when I go into the Wacom preference pane in System Preferences, along with other preference panes (like Growl, for example), I have to restart the System Preference app.
Is anyone else experiencing similar issues?

This is a known issue with the current Wacom driver and it will have to be fixed by them in an update. In the meantime, you can make the preferences save by quitting System Preferences after changing any tablet settings and then reopening the Wacom prefpane in System Preferences and closing it again.

Wacom Intuos4 unworkable

So I have the Wacom Intuos4 pen tablet and when I try to grade my footage the sliders jumps around like crazy, there isn't anything near accuracy and it's in all essence unworkable.
Is there some input option like in DaVinci Resolve to enable a pen tablet instead of having the program act like the tablet is a mouse? This is not the same issue as the one where you have to unable Wacom Mouse in the windows settings.
Is there a solution or do I have to pronounce SpeedGrade DOA?

A trackball is indeed a rather nice option for using SpeedGrade: all color wheels and all sliders will turn into what we call the virtuall trackball if you right click them.
Once you do, just use the ball to move sliders or color wheels (chroma). To change the luma on a color wheel, activate virtual trackball, then use the ring around the ball to change the luma.
Not exactly a full blown control surface, but a really nice way to get more control over all color tools inside SpeedGrade (and a relieve to your muscles).

Wacom intuos4 medium tablet mouse problems

Lately, my mouse is not working properly. When I click, it behaves like a double-click.

A tablet will function like a normal mouse in any program. After Effects, Photoshop and Illustrator in addition use the advanced features of the pen for their painting tools. which size you get, is your preference and is determined by a number of factors. Larger tablets require more storing space and in addition may require more movement in the arm. Samlelr tablets are more elegant to use, however, too samll is no good, either. The relation of the tablet size to the screen size matters, so if it's too small, you effectively loose resolution/ precision. I had an Intuos 3 A4 at work once and now I have an Intuos 4 M. Both were/ are sufficient for my needs. I must admit, though, that I'm mouse-centric and really only use them for painting, not more mundane things.

Safari delete key bug on Korean characters

Currently, I'm using 2014 mid Macbook Pro Retina 15'' .
I've recently updated Safari to 7.1 version, and came out that Safari has delete key bug while using Korean characters for input.
When I'm trying to delete Korean character in Safari, the delete key doesn't work right away, so I have to spam delete several times to get words deleted.
This bug newly appeared after updating Safari to 7.1, which was released August, and several Korean communities also said they are having same issue.
To confirm the issue, just type few words with Korean letters and try to delete with delete key.

CS4, Win7 64bit Media Encoder Errors

On a fresh install of Win7 64bit, ASUS P6T Deluxe V2 motherboard 12GB RAM, NVIDIA GTX 260 graphic card and all updates (software/hardware), I'm having a bear of a time exporting even a bars/tone test project from CS4. Here is the sequence of events:
1)Create/edit project, export media, I get warning message that an update of Media Encoder is available (but I've already double checked that I'm running CS4 4.2.1 with multiple computer restarts). AME version I have is 4.2.0.006
2) choose export format, location, etc. (I've tried various export formats with no difference in resulting error messages)
3) dynamic link exports the file to AME...BUT....AME doesn't open
4)When I've manually opened AME beforehand, CS4 will export to the queue
5)On attempt to encode I get the message:
- Source File: C:\Users\Oren\AppData\Local\Temp\Zi8 Test_7.prproj
- Output File: E:\Choco Rehab2.f4v
- Preset Used: Custom
- Video:
- Audio:
- Bitrate:
- Encoding Time: 00:18:29

6) I've looked in the folder and indeed, the source file doesn't exist...but it keeps creating this same message, regardless of what project I try to work on.

Thanks again for your offer to help and your invaluable assistance to all Adobe users. With your help (and the upcoming Mercury engine), I hope to have a Matrox-free system eventually. I still have to use my XP-32 matrox and CS3 system until I can work out the kinks that keep me from exporting completed projects on my newly build Win7 CS4 system.

How to make LR 2.4 open to CS4 32bit instead of 64bit

I recently upgraded my OS from Vista 32bit to Vista 64bit. I had no problems installing the CS4 Production bundle as well as Lightroom 2.4. A bit of a hitch installing a couple of plugin in CS4 64bit so I need to use 32bit, which is a bummer, but still acceptable. What i'm trying to figure out is, how do I let LR 2.4 "Edit in Photoshop" and more importantly "Open as Smart Object" in Photoshop CS4 32bit instead of 64bit by default?

I believe the way to do this is to start the 32-bit Photoshop binary before you call "Edit in PS". Lightroom will automatically use the open version and not start the 64-bit version if the other is running.

Wacom Intuos4 and Photoshop CS4

I can't get pen tilt working in Photoshop CS4. If I choose pen tilt option in brush shape for shape dynamics it works as if the control would be set to pen pressure sensitivity. Diagnostics in driver options show tilt is detected. Tilt only works for angle control in CS4. And I'm using the latest update for CS4. In spite of this, i tried my intuos4 in corel sketchpad and it works great, just as expected. It detects pressure, tilt angle and tilt direction. I don't know what could be the problem. Can someone confirm having tilt working in CS4?
I'd like to use tilt for roundness control.

ok. this is hopeless. so... i photoshopped my photoshop starting screen and changed the version from 11.0.0 to 11.0.1 just to lose my time on the adobe forums. now i find out that i need to reverse enineer photoshop and start debugging, so i can fix it myself. thank you adobe!

Wacom Tablet Mapping Bug Only in Photoshop

I am using a Graphire Wireless Wacom Tablet on a Windows 7 PC at work. I installed the most recent drivers, and it works flawlessly in a duel monitor setup, and I have no trouble mapping it however I would like.
This is all great until I launch Adobe Photoshop (CS4). Upon launch of the program there is some kind of bug, and suddenly the mapping acts as if both displays were squished into only the primary display. I can toggle between displays, and instead of toggling between display 1, 2, and both, it toggles between the left and right half of the screen and the whole screen. The other monitor is still functioning normally, only the mapping of the tablet is effected, and as soon as I close Photoshop, it reverts back to normal.
I did find one posting with the same problem, but it was resolved my installing the updated drivers, which I already have, and the discussion was closed. Any help I can get would be great.

Wacom has per-appliation settings, and somewhere you've changed the tablet mapping for Photoshop.
Photoshop does not know about the tablet mapping, only the Wacom driver knows about and controls the tablet mapping.
Check the Wacom control panel/preferences. If you can't figure it out, contact Wacom technical support.

Any Alt + Shft key combination freezes Photoshop CS4

Any key combination that also involves simultaneously pressing the alt and shft keys freezes Photoshop CS4 on my WinXP laptop. Is this a known bug or peculiar to my system? Killing all unnecessary processes running in the background doesn't help, so it doesn't seem to be a software conflict. Other than remapping all the relevant shortcut keys is there anyway to solve this problem?
And how would I go about remapping the ctrl + shf + alt + e key combo. I've looked for it in under Edit\Keyboard Shortcuts\Layer but can't seem to locate it.

Thanks for the tip Chris. Yes, it seems to be a software conflict after all. Running Photoshop in Safe Mode (something that should have occcured to me earlier), the alt - shft problem disappears. Now it's just a matter of trying to isolate the culprit. Once I've found it, I'll post the solution.

Please Fix This Bug - Mac Version CS4

Open up Flash using the Designer workspace (it can be any workspace, though).
Now select Import so the OS X file dialog appears. Drag the dialog to be longer vertically so you can see more files listed. Select Cancel.
Now drag the divider between the timeline and the stage down to be bigger vertically so you can see more Layers in the timeline.
Now select Import and watch the file dialog spawn from the top of the stage, move down, hit the bottom of the screen, and shift your entire workspace. This is a bug. It shouldn't do this. Try fixing this weird anomaly at the top of your screen where it's a gap in the interface and you can't see the top part of the workspace.
How long has Flash been out and this bug still exists?
Steve Jobs was right. Adobe is lazy, though Apple's own Final Cut Studio has its share of ignored bugs, so he has no room to talk.
I suppose I'm going to have to buy CS5 to get a bug fix...or it will carry over. I remember when Macromedia was around creating competition. The consumer benefited from that competition.

Have you reported this bug? Based on the series of steps you need to create this scenario, it is possible no one else has encountered it, so it may not have been addressed at all. It probably has nothing at all to do with laziness on Adobe's end, though they are unlikely to release a new version every time a newly discovered bug gets arises.
