Wacom Intuos4 unworkable

So I have the Wacom Intuos4 pen tablet and when I try to grade my footage the sliders jumps around like crazy, there isn't anything near accuracy and it's in all essence unworkable.
Is there some input option like in DaVinci Resolve to enable a pen tablet instead of having the program act like the tablet is a mouse? This is not the same issue as the one where you have to unable Wacom Mouse in the windows settings.
Is there a solution or do I have to pronounce SpeedGrade DOA?

A trackball is indeed a rather nice option for using SpeedGrade: all color wheels and all sliders will turn into what we call the virtuall trackball if you right click them.
Once you do, just use the ball to move sliders or color wheels (chroma). To change the luma on a color wheel, activate virtual trackball, then use the ring around the ball to change the luma.
Not exactly a full blown control surface, but a really nice way to get more control over all color tools inside SpeedGrade (and a relieve to your muscles).

  • Wacom Intuos4 tablet settings keep resetting after reboot

I am not sure if anyone else is seeing this but on my fresh install of 10.6, I installed the latest drivers for my Wacom Intuos4 tablet and every time I reboot, the configurations are reset to defaults.
I've also noticed that when I go into the Wacom preference pane in System Preferences, along with other preference panes (like Growl, for example), I have to restart the System Preference app.
Is anyone else experiencing similar issues?

This is a known issue with the current Wacom driver and it will have to be fixed by them in an update. In the meantime, you can make the preferences save by quitting System Preferences after changing any tablet settings and then reopening the Wacom prefpane in System Preferences and closing it again.

  • Wacom Intuos4 keys bug on AE CS4/5 on Win7 64bit

After a lot of futzing, I still can't get the ExpressKeys and the Touch Wheel to operate as a jog - it turns out that any key that is replicated as a Num-Lock key on the keypad fails to work properly in AE. For example, the Wacom control panel sends {page down} as {keypad-3}, whether you have Num-Lock on or not, but only in AE. I tried older Wacom drivers as well. I checked with Wacom support, and they were able to recreate it and said it's a problem with After Effects on Win-64 bit, both CS4 and beta CS5, so they aren't going to fix it and instead "passed the information to Adobe". Basically it probably won't get fixed until CS6, if even then...
So my recommendation is, if you're running 64-bit, avoid the Intuos4 if you really want to use the ExpressKeys or Touch Wheel as a jog.You can probably save money getting an Intuos3 instead.
However, if anyone has been able to get it to work, please post or let Wacom know!

    Hey Den -
I just received my Intuos4 a couple days ago and ran into the exact same problem as you.  I finally figured out a solution and created a tutorial on what I did to fix it.  You probably already have this figured out by now, but thought maybe others could benefit.

  • Wacom intuos4 medium tablet mouse problems

    Hello folks,
I wonder if you can help me.
I have a wacom intuos4 medium tablet that I use with my Mac Pro under OSX 10.6.8.
Lately, my mouse is not working properly.  When I click, it behaves like a double-click.
I checked all my setting and everything looks good.
    Any suggestions?
    Thanks for the help!

A tablet will function like a normal mouse in any program. After Effects, Photoshop and Illustrator in addition use the advanced features of the pen for their painting tools. which size you get, is your preference and is determined by a number of factors. Larger tablets require more storing space and in addition may require more movement in the arm. Samlelr tablets are more elegant to use, however, too samll is no good, either. The relation of the tablet size to the screen size matters, so if it's too small, you effectively loose resolution/ precision. I had an Intuos 3 A4 at work once and now I have an Intuos 4 M. Both were/ are sufficient for my needs. I must admit, though, that I'm mouse-centric and really only use them for painting, not more mundane things.

  • LR 2.6 and Wacom Intuos4: Performance issues

    Hi folks,
recently I added a Wacom Intuos4 graphic tablet to my PC (Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit; Intel QuadCore 3 GHz and 8GB RAM)  for more precise actions in Lightroom and Photoshop. Before I added the Inuos4 the Lightroom performance with the adjustment brush and the gradient tool worked well,
without anything to complain about. Now, that I am using the graphic tablet both tools are very slow and the CPU consumption of LR rises up to about 70%-80%. In Photoshop however, the Intuos4 is no perforance issue, everything works as good as before when I am using the tablet.
Anybody else having this problem and/or even knowing why this is so?
    Looking forward to your responses.
    Best regards
    Thomas

I asked Wacom for what issues have been resolved. They told me that it has nothing to do with the LR performance problem. As expected, Wacom does not see to be responsible in this matter. So the driver update should not change anything in this matter, and it really does not.
Which graphics adapter are you using (nVidia cards are also suspected to cause LR performance trouble)?
This machine has a GeForce GTX 285, so either the problem does not affect all nVidia cards, or there is some other problem trigger that is missing on my system. The machine is only about 1.5 months old, and I take care not to have crappy/unneeded processes running in the background. I also do not really use the tablet much with Lightroom, so it might be that I simply do not perform the kind of actions that trigger the problem. I have tried going really overboard with gradient filters and adjustment brushes for testing purposes though, and have not been able to reproduce the problem. CPU usage does go up noticeably while dragging a gradient filter, but this is to be expected due to the computational complexity of the task, and at no point does it ever make the operation feel sluggish.
    System specs for comparison:
    Intel Core i7 920 @ 2.66 GHz
    6 GB DDR3-1600
GeForce GTX 285 1 GB (using the 196.21 drivers)
    Windows 7 64-bit
The system disk (where Lightroom itself is stored) is an Intel SSD, but the catalog and the photos are on rotating media.

  • Wacom Intuos4 and Photoshop CS4

I can't get pen tilt working in Photoshop CS4. If I choose pen tilt option in brush shape for shape dynamics it works as if the control would be set to pen pressure sensitivity. Diagnostics in driver options show tilt is detected. Tilt only works for angle control in CS4. And I'm using the latest update for CS4. In spite of this, i tried my intuos4 in corel sketchpad and it works great, just as expected. It detects pressure, tilt angle and tilt direction. I don't know what could be the problem. Can someone confirm having tilt working in CS4?
I'd like to use tilt for roundness control.

ok. this is hopeless. so... i photoshopped my photoshop starting screen and changed the version from 11.0.0 to 11.0.1 just to lose my time on the adobe forums. now i find out that i need to reverse enineer photoshop and start debugging, so i can fix it myself. thank you adobe!

I am getting the “A supported tablet was not found on the system” on the System Prefs. It is plugged in. I have installed the latest drivers. I have even removed and reinstalled using the Wacom Tablet Utility as per discussions I have found here.
I have a Wacom Intuos4 and an iMac 3.4 ghz Intel Core i7 with OS 10.7.5.

Try disconnecting the tablet, uninstall the software.
Restart your Mac. Reinstall the Wacom software, then plugin your Wacom tablet.

  • Setting up Intuos4 tablet with Photoshop CC 2014

I'm a digital artist who is moving from using PS Elements 12 to CC, and I can't seem to setup my small Wacom Intuos4 tablet correctly. I can write and use the pen tablet, but all brush dynamics aren't working, even though  I have them set to work with penpressure, tilt, etc etc.
Tried restarting, reinstalling the tablet, updating tablet drivers, etc etc.
I need a solution to this, preferably in baby steps.
    I run Win8 and 64bit PS CC
    Thanks!

After verifying you have the latest driver installed from the Wacom website, Open the Wacom driver, enable use windows ink option. In the Pen and Touch control panel turn off using press and hold for right click.

  • Wacom Wireless random brush strokes

    Hi everybody!
Has anyone tested Wacom Intuos4 Wireless tuned with PhotoShop CS5 on MAC OSX Leopard (10.5.8)?
The thing is whenever I work wirelessly with any of brush/brushlike tools (brush itself, dodge, burn, sharpen, blur etc.)) in Photoshop CS5, straight lines are triggered randomly every now and then. Some guys on the forum have experienced a similar problem on Windows 7.
I’ve tried (heaps of times and applying different sequencies) the following for the remedy:
    Uninstalled the driver
    Unpaired Wacom Tablet
    Updated PS5 (12.0.4 update)
Set PS5 to its default settings
    Cleaned iMac
    Repaired Disk Permissions
Reinstalled the driver (tried 4 different releases including the newest one).
    Paired Wacom back etc...
etc ...as advised by Wacom support team.
Alas! None of the methods have worked.
I would really appreciate if anybody can cast some light on how to resolve the issue (prevent PS5 drawing/retouching tools from randomly triggering unwanted strokes).
    Cheers!
P.S. I'm currently on Intel based iMac, OSX Leopard 10.5.8, 32 bit

    Thanks Grant H!
Leopard 10.6 and latest versions are Leopard Snow updates. I'm currently on Leopard 10.5.8.
If I knew for sure that Leopard Snow fixes the bug, I would buy/upgrade to a newer OSX. It might as well be a Wacom Wireless "hardware bug", as one of a technical support representatives said when I called Wacom for help. I'm still looking for similar bugs from other www community guys. None relevant info has been found yet.
Probably, I need more feedback from the members of our Forum.
    Cheers anyway, Grant H!

  • How can I add to an existing path using the pencil tool?

This probably seems like a rather elementary question, but
whenever I draw a path using the pencil tool, reselect it,
hover over the endpoint, and the click and drag to extend
the line off into a different direction, Illustrator will often
(but not always) erase the existing path and leave only the
    new one that I drew.
    To wit:
In step 1 above, I draw a line with the Pencil tool.
In step 2 above, I reselect the line from step 1, hover over the endpoint, and then continue to draw further.
However, as can be seen in step 3, the line from step 1 disappears after I draw the new path.
I am aware of the pencil setting, "Edit selected paths", and I have checked it to edit selected paths
within 12 pixels for the above example. What I am doing in the above example, and what I
want to do, is to be able to add more paths onto an existing one using the pencil tool,
rather than have a completely new path being drawn every time I lift up my pen to finish
    drawing the previous path.
I also realize that I can do this with the pen tool; but the pen tool is a more
precise tool (and somewhat more cumbersome), and I prefer to have more
of the rough-handed look from time to time.
Finally, I also know that I can use the direct selection tool to select endpoints
    from two different paths and then join them using the join command;
but this seems to be more trouble than it's worth in many cases, especially
if I want to do it frequently for a more long and complicated line.
Am I expecting too much out of Illustrator?
Is my idea of how to use the existing tools wrong in this case?
Is there some piece of knowledge I'm missing?
    I'm on Illustrator CS5, Mac OS X 10.6.8, using a Wacom Intuos4 tablet.
However, I have confirmed the above on Illustrator CS4 for Mac as well.
Any help or comments would be much appreciated.
    Jeff

Thanks @rcraighead - the Live Paint process seems a bit overkill for simply adding
a new path onto an existing pencil path, but I did try the first idea you suggested,
which was tracing a bit over the last part of the existing path and then continuing
on to extend the path. It's a bit imprecise because the existing path gets slightly
modified, but it seems to work pretty well all in all. Nice idea indeed - thanks a million.
I also found that in AI CS5, I can use the selection tool to select all of the paths
in this case and then join them using the join command. I thought I needed to
select individual anchor points for this to work, but it actually works really
well, better than I thought. I seem to recall that previous versions of Illustrator
were a lot more picky with the Join command, but then again this might just
have been my lack of understanding.
I'm curious to know what other solutions to the above problem that other users
might have, so I will leave this question unanswered for a bit...
but I will use your initial technique described - it seems to work
pretty well, in absence of other options Many thanks again for your timely help.

  • Xsetwacom no longer working

    Hello everyone,
I recently noticed that xsetwacom doesn't find any wacom devices anymore:
    $ xsetwacom list dev
    returns nothing.
But the Tablet is actually working without a flaw, and also added to xinput:
    $ xinput list
⎡ Virtual core pointer id=2 [master pointer (3)]
⎜ ↳ Virtual core XTEST pointer id=4 [slave pointer (2)]
    ⎜ ↳ TPPS/2 IBM TrackPoint id=10 [slave pointer (2)]
⎜ ↳ Serial Wacom Tablet eraser id=12 [slave pointer (2)]
⎜ ↳ Serial Wacom Tablet stylus id=13 [slave pointer (2)]
⎣ Virtual core keyboard id=3 [master keyboard (2)]
↳ Virtual core XTEST keyboard id=5 [slave keyboard (3)]
    ↳ Power Button id=6 [slave keyboard (3)]
    ↳ Video Bus id=7 [slave keyboard (3)]
    ↳ Sleep Button id=8 [slave keyboard (3)]
↳ AT Translated Set 2 keyboard id=9 [slave keyboard (3)]
↳ ThinkPad Extra Buttons id=11 [slave keyboard (3)]
The problem here is that xsetwacom is needed to rotate the pen orientation along with the screen on my Thinkpad X60 Tablet. Can anyone tell me why xsetwacom doesn't find my device?
EDIT: I have a guess. I found that there is now a file, /lib/modules/2.6.36-ARCH/kernel/drivers/input/tablet/wacom.ko, that I don't remember being there a few kernel versions ago. Could it be that an incompatible wacom driver was added as a Linux kernel module recently, which is incompatible with xsetwacom? Or is that just for USB devices? (nope, see EDIT3)
EDIT2: I noticed that the command
$ xsetwacom set "Serial Wacom Tablet stylus" Rotate cw
doesn't give any errors, while I get an error message when I use a device name that isn't listed by xinput, such as:
$ xsetwacom set "Wacom foo" Rotate cw
Error (2): WacomConfigOpenDevice: No such device
Set: Failed to open device 'Wacom foo'
Very, very weird... xidump "Serial Wacom Tablet stylus" also doesn't show any kind of activity. So it seems xsetwacom cannot actually connect to the xinput device...
EDIT3: Sorry this is getting kinda long. I also looked in the Xorg log file, and from that it looks like the correct driver (from the xf86-input-wacom package) is used for my tablet.
