WAD Doubt

Hi All,
I stumbled upon an issue on WAD. First page of my WAD report should show only the Radio buttons. Using that I will open different queries. But when I execute the report I am getting all the variable selection screen of all the queries embedden in my wad query. But I should get only the radio button screen as I have hidden all the other containers which is having queries. I am expecting the variable screen of queries after selecting the radio button.
Please advice me to achieve the solution for this problem.

there lies a problem in the design of the wad. Every time a wad is executed variable screen will show up for all the queries/views embedded in it. The only way to by pass is from the web template properties uncheck the option, display variable screen, but the flaw with this would be it will never show the variable screen,
So you can twist the design this way.
Create a Main wad with the readio buttons and assign links to these buttons for the other WAD.

Formatting Bex queries output with WAD Script WebItem

Hi All,
We have a requirement of displaying some text for a key figure value in WAD.
Scenario:
We have one input enabled query lets say Q1, in that a KF1 can have either 10 or 0 value. If user input 10, then in other report lets say Q2(which is display report), status should display 'Yes' and if 0 status should display 'No'. Kindly note reports are built in WAD
Doubts:
1. Can we replace keyfigure value with text in WAD using Script?
2. If Yes can you please share a sample code for the same.

try using modification module for analysis item, try with value "string" instead of "image"

Urgent doubt in WAD

Hi,
I have created a Web template which has two tabs.
Every thing is working fine except...
Initially when it is executed it is displaying all the items like text elements, gennav, check boxes, tables...Actually what is happening here is for the first time when it gets opened it is displaying the check box item which has Keyfigures but hwen i click on the next tab the check box which holds keyfigures is disappearing and when i even come back again to the first tab also it is not displaying... i am not in a postion to understand kindly help this...

What version of BI are you working on ? as I understand the tabs option was available from 7.0 ? also the same tabs can be implemented in 3.x using certain workarounds...

Difference between Bex Analyzer and Bex WAD

Hi Every one,
I am pretty new to SAP, and working on SAP BW Front end.
I am pretty aware of Bex Analyzer and also Browser, but i always have a doubt about Bex WAD.
In my present job i talk to the users and take the requirments and create queries in the Bex analyzer which i am comfortable doing it.
I also know all the features of Analyzer and created quries and also published it on web, and also created workbooks and inserting multiple quries in the workbook etc etc..
However i have zero knowledge on WAD and how it is useful to me, and as if now i haven't got any requirment from the client for me to create any report in WAD or do some thing in WAD.
I have gone through SAP SDN help etc but i am not understanding it at all.
So can any one explain me in a laymans terms what WAD is and how it will be useful to me?
and also if possible send me link which has got PDF screen shots of what WAD is?

Thanks for the reply, but i still did not get the understanding about WAD. i have studied the link which you sent me.
I am still not able to understand how it is helpful for people like me,
See i create my report in Query designer, and i can execute the query in Analyser. and if i want i can execute it in the Web from my query designer, and also i can create chart on the web if i want.And i can Broadcaste it in the Web.
and also if i want i can create it in the workbook and create chart in that work book.
Then what is the point of Web Application Designer (WAD).
See i have created the Query in Designer in Development say Sales report Query on the infoprovider for SD, now what should i do with it in WAD.
How can i get it in WAD, i went to start> all Programs>Bex> WAD and i logged in to development and a sereen opend. And from here what i can do, i mean how can i open my created query in WAD?
As you guys know i am new to SAP itself, but i dont see any advantage about WAD, i read all the articals and there i found that i can create Web Items, HTML etc etc, but i already have HTML, when i execute my query from the Designer i get it in Web Browser...
See my question is simple, i have a query which i have created in the Query Designer, now how can i get it to WAD and after getting it what can i do with it??
If any one has a screen shots of there pls send me.
And Sanjeev has sent me a PDF which i saw earlear and i done the same in my WAD but i am not about to get it to work.
I have given the points to every one but still what i need i did not get yet.

Open a crystal report from WAD with passing the variables values

Hi,
I need to know is there any way to link SAP WAD to crystal reports (open a crystal report from WAD)and pass the values of the variables which are entered in the Web App. (e.g. Customer id,year) should be passed to the Crystal Report.
Maybe we need to pass parameter by WAD URL but this is just my assumption and have no idea how to do this with passing variable values.
right now I know the method of how Bex queries which are used as data source for crystal reports but in my current scenario we have the structure like this that bex queries link with WAD and then WAD is linked with crystal reports.
No doubt that Crystal report is target option in RRI but there the source is Bex Query only but in current scenario we are looking WAD (web template) as a source to crystal report or crystal report called in WAD.
Please suggest something on same.

I'm facing right now the same problem, I need a way to link SAP WAD to crystal reports (open a crystal report from WAD) and pass the values of the variables which are entered in the Web App. (e.g. Customer id,year) should be passed to the Crystal Report.
Have found an answer to this issue? If yes, please kindly inform how have you solved this.

WAD reports: download to excel

Hi,
When you download your report data to excel, is there some kind of option available so that the user cannot change the data inside the excel? Or some kind of thing in the document that states that this data is original/changed. Does such a mechanism exist that can say that the data is original when you download it via the web report?

as u said u r downloading the data to excel from wad
now the output is stored in excel and if user changes this data then this change will reflect at local pc of ur user
wat i meant to say is
lets say ur query is runing thru webtemplate ww
now ur user x download the query execution thru excel to his pc xx
now if user changes this excel it will only happen at his pc xx
now if user forwards this changed excel then and only then this change spreads
otherwise watever the query execution is going to be it will remain same at all pc's
in short user can change excel at their respective pc's
if it is assigned to u to send the downloaded excel from wad to different user communities
then after downloading u can secure the excel document
u can download say result aa on day 1
after downloading use Tools in tabs and then select Options and then in dialog box u can select Security and set the password to open the document, to change the document etc.
u can set password to edit the document
this way ur forwarded excel will not get changed
or if ur doubt is if user change data in excel dowloaded from wad , does it change data at infoprovider then the answer is NO.
the data at infoprovider will not be changed.

Javascript funciton in WAD created to generated bookmark not working !

Hi Gurus
I have a written a javascript to get the bookmark ID generated in child window using standard funciton module SAP_BW_URL CMD='BOOKMARK'. after that the Host URL is changed with the COporate Portal URL and the child window is closed.
Any doubts, so far.....?
I have also a set a delay time of 4 seconds before i really work on the bookmark URL generated in the child window. This is because, It takes some time for BW to generate bookmark URL and the system should wait for that.....
However, it works fne in most of our systems consistently. But in few core persons desktop, it works for first time but fails from second time.....
Any idea why?

You need to add additional text to the command for the shortcut icon. In WAD the text probably looks something like -
A href="<SAP_BW_URL CMD="bookmark">" + icon info.
You can change it so it opens in a new window by adding the additional command target=_blank so that the command looks like the following:
A href="<SAP_BW_URL CMD="bookmark">" target=_blank > + icon info.

Hi,
To answer the 2nd part of your question. Hope you are on
WAD 7.0.
Save: you want to save the report as a Bookmark? You can do that using the Bookmark Command.
Use a Link item or a button. In its properties, select Command Via Command. In the pop-up screen which appears, select All Commands --> Commands for Web Templates --> Save Bookmark.
Print: Again, All Commands in button or Link item --> Command for Web Templates --> Export Web template. PDF is the default format.
User Name: You can use a Text Item (under Misc tab). Link your query to it thru data binding. Then use General Text Elements and User name in the General_Text_Element.

PDF printing through WAD

We have designed a template in WAD.
The template is having a print functionality(export to PDF). However, if my report is having 10 cloumns, the PDF version is showing 8 cloumns in the first page and the remaining 2 columns in the second page.This pattern is maintained throughout all the pages of the PDF
Is there any way to confine the entire report(all the columns to be precise) in a single page?

Hi,
1. Either you can have a Link Web Item (Misc. Tab) or you can have a Button Group Web Item (Stand. Tab). Drag n drop any of these on the template.
2. In their properties, give the display name and length n height etc. For button group, you can add how many buttons you want.
Button Group: you have to name your buttons and then define what you want it to do. So, you have define a command. There is a small button corresponding to each button that you add under the button group. click that.
-->You will have the option of command via command (by default). And it will ask you what command you want to define. Click on the corresponding button again. A screen pops up. You have 2 options. select All commands and then Commands for Web temp (4th command in the list). In that select Export Web Template. In the next screen, give your data binding. By default it will be exported to PDF. You can change that to Excel or CSV. Give header n footer etc..
You can do the similar with the Link item.
Create a new post if you have more doubts.

WAD Images (Urgent)

Hi all,
How to Add images in WAD, i mean to say i have a company logo, i want it to appear in Report. so how can i add that image in Templates.
please help. its urgent

to add the image in the MIME repository go to transaction SE80 -> MIME Repository, SAP>BW>Customer> Images > Context Menu "Import ..." ) and and select the required file from local machine,
then you can use it in the WAD .go to Insert -> Picture.
But i would suggest..to embed an image from the MIME repository, you can use the following code in the XHTML tab.
<img src = "address" alt ="logo" border="0"/>
where address = bwmimerep:///sap/bw/mime/Customer/Images/LOGO.gif
(logo.gif is the name of ur file, give the extension name appropriately)

WAD Report -Chart Type Line Diagram!!

Hi All,
I have a doubt in listing the Y axis value with a value of 2000 in addition for each category
like 0,2000,4000,6000,etc till 20000.
But I tried many way...But I culd able to achieve max..till 10,000.If i use 20,000..I get a value of 2500 for each category not 2000...
pls,Could anyone help me ???

This is possible...
Edit your chart in WAD-> goto chart designer -> Goto value axis and change its properties as follows:
Remove maximum automatic in this and change the maximum value to 20000, in your case.
Get into Line properties....
Get into Major Ticks->Remove the automatic and Change the number of ticks to 11, you will see the 2000 mark on the left.
Now run your chart and you will see a bigger chart....

Jumping one report to other report in WAD

I have to jump one report to antoher report in WAD(for web reports).
I know we can do for bex reports RRI.For web reports what setting I have to take?

Nothing special setting you need to take care of. because if you specify the RRI's then you can use the same reports in WAD and once you execute the same report,if you right click on the report you can get the option like GOTO and the target report name.
Ex: i will give the example of my project reports. we have created secialized web templates for 2 reports.
1. AR Aging report
2. AR detail report.
after executing the AR aging you can right click on the web report and you can see the option GO TO-->there you can choose the detail report. so that you can go to the detail report.

WAD stops responding to SAVE options

Hi there
I am new to using WAD in 2004s, and have noticed that after a while working on a template (say 90 minutes), the SAVE option(s) stop responding.
I can make changes to the template, press the SAVE button, wait for the cursor to change to show the process has finished, but when I reload the template in my browser, the changes aren't reflected.
I have paid closer attention to the status messages, and when the save option works correctly, I get a message saying that Save was succesful (or words to similar effect).
However, once it starts its "non-responsive" phase, all I get is the hourglass cursor then it changes back without the status message. The rest of the WAD seems to function fine, so I can open another template, and save that template, but trying to save the original template just doesn't seem to be an option.
This morning I then got a JIT Debugging error from .Net??
Does WAD run on .NET, and if so what version of .Net should I be running?

Whenever you make changes to Webtemplate, save immediately. don't wait 90 min.... The connection between backend and WAD will be closed.
The BI 2004s frontend requires Microsoft.NET Framework 1.1 in it's
newest version, which means that all service packs and hotfixes for
Microsoft .NET Framework 1.1 have to be applied.

Insert multiple queries using either WORKBOOK, WAD or Report Designer

Hello Guys
I have a task where I have to insert multiple queries into one single page/sheet & print it out later. For this I can use any one of the tools available: Workbook, WAD or Report Designer.
1. Workbook - Here I have read that we can use a call back MACRO and some other features.
2. WAD - Here I have read that we can use: 1. Multiple data providers (one for each query) & 2. Multiple web analysis items linking to each individual data provider.
3. Report Designer - Since this is the actual 'formatting' tool provided by SAP, I am assuming that this is the right environment to achieve my task.
My question: Which one out of the above 3 tools is actually feasible? Can someone explain me in detail about how to go about this task. Any 'How to..' docs from SAP would also be most helpful.

I have done similar requirement in Workbook,it has better features and more user friendly than others......it depends on the individual...but U cna meet your requirement thru Workbooks...
If the Req are complicated then we go for MAcros ,where in we can satify the critical req,say some sort of Dynamic reqs.
There are lot of threads on Multiple queries in one Workbook....Just search in SDN and u will get lot of Threads on this topic.
Come bak if u have any other doubts.

WAD Themes?

Hi WAD Gurus,
My doubt in WAD is that, is it possible to change the default theme of Grid/Charts etc in BEx. My default theme is - "TRADESHOW". I'm able to change to other 2 themes, but If I want to add a new theme for a better chart, what is the procedure? Any ideas?

I guess you are talking about 3.5 ...
You can goto se80->MIME repository->SAP->BW->BEX-StyleSheets, copy and CSS, adjust it as you wish and set it in WAD 3.5 as your CSS.
I think it should work ...
