WAD Performance

Hi Experts,
How do i improve the performance of execution time of query on WAD.
The query takes 40-45 secs which is supposed to take 10-15 secs. Please suggest how do i improve the performance

If i execute the same query in Query designer using Web browser then it will take 400 seconds to show all the data in hierarchy or tabular view.
I've done tuning using RSRT on query read mode and persistent mode etc..
Can you please help me?

Planning Layout : IE7 memory consumption

Hello,
When we try to save 100 lines in planning layout IE7 memory comsumption make computer crash.
Nothing is send to the server and IE7 takes more than 10 minutes to send data.
We have installed Copy and Paste how to , but even when we retrieve it form the WAD performance stay very bad.
Could we optimize the performance, do we have IP parameter to update?

I suggest to do more tests: Does the same problem exist on other browsers like IE8? If no, it's an MS issue. If yes, are you using any other JavaScript or custom extentions in you web template? If yes, remove them too. If no, check that you have the latest BI Java support package and patch installed on your BI Portal.
If you still get memory issues, please open a customer message so SAP support can analyze the issue.

Real VNC ..

A vulnerability exists in RealVNC that could allow remote access without authenticating.
Does anybody knows where that files is located.. need to disable but can't find it the security scan was wad performed to a brand new solaris 11.1

We don't provide the Real version but if the problem is also reproducible with the other forks, you can remove the following package or you can disable the only SMF service that we use to start "VNC".
The SMF service is : svc:/application/x11/xvnc-inetd:default
And the package is : x11/server/xvnc

I am working on WAD reports with multiple Data Providers,
I.e. Web Template with DP1, DP2, DP3, DP4 --- Query 1
                                   DP5, DP6, DP7, DP8 --- Query 2
      Purpose - i have used Tab Strip Item with eight Tabs, each tab belongs to respective DP.
                   - Each Tab represent differnt view of the Report (using commands)
So, Does multi Data Provider with Multiple Queries have impact on Performance of the web report ? and If it does, then possible ways to improve performance ? Any advice/experience on this..

The main purpose for the Tabs is to fulfill CRAZY CLIENT REQUIREMENT, nothing else ... Same thing can be done by just drag & drop but ...
What each tab does is, when clicked commands changes/replaces the Characteristics in the Row.
for ex. Origional query has Product in the raw. Now if user want to see different perpective, he needs to replace 'Product' wiht 'Business Area' or ' Customer' . THis can be done either by drag and drop or Commands. And here i have used commands.
@ performance - i am in development and still i haven't seen any perfomance issues becasue of this multi DP. But just want to make sure it does same thing in Production aswell..

Display Query performance in WAD

All
Is there a way to display the query performance statistics in the report result for a web report created in the WAD (is there a standard template/web object?
Eg display number of records read and time taken for query result.
I am sure I have seen this in SAP demos but don't know if it is a standard content offering

I´m using BI 7.0
However, when I do as you suggested, I still get the query name, not the query view name.
The query view should be selected dynamically from the view that is displayed at that moment.
Also, can you incorporate saved views from the Bex Portfolio and display their names?

If the variable screen starts up, you should suppress it in template properties.

Help! Poor Performance for BW reporting in WAD

Hi, Gurus:
I have one BW report, if running it in analyzer and can get the result within 10 seconds, however, when running it in WAD, it cost more than 4 minutes even through it has no data, and I'm really confused by this phenomenon, pls help ,thanks in advance!

If you haven't found it yet, see #C3 in Time Machine - Troubleshooting. TM is likely having a problem with a file, and that will show you how to find and fix it.

Performance impact of Multi Data Provider in WAD !!

Hi,
you could work with the settings for your queries in RSRT.
Ther you can define what data will be read when running a query and what is read when users are doing navigation in the query.
By changing the settings you might get some better performance.
Though working with aggregates has probably more effect on the performance.

WAD-Analysis Item-Poor performance for new lines

Hi.
I use WAD7 for entering new records in IP.
According to our business requirements, in analysis item properties I have defined "Number of New Lines in Planning Queries" = 50.
After that I face before extremely poor performance - it takes about 1-2 minutes until the page has loaded (note that it is empty page - only new blank rows).
When I define new lines = 1 performance is very good (2-3 sec).
Does anybody know what could be the problem ?

the number of new lines configured in WAD is completely unknown in the ABAP backend and has no impact on backend performance; in fact, the front end gets information about one 'line' of template cells, this costs nothing.
Checks for characteristic relationships etc. only may have significant costs for cells of the result set, not for new lines.
Whether this problem comes from the ABAP backed or form the Java stack or from the browser rendering can be checked
with an RSTT trace. Is the run time of the trace different between 1 or 50 new lines, were different backend calls recorded?
If not, the problem comes from the Java stack or from the browser rendering. One can check the latter via task manager.
To check (partially) the run time in Java and/or ABAP stack add the parameter &PROFILING=X in the url, cf. note 1048691.

Performance/Memory usage with WAD Templates in BIW

Hi All,
We have an E-Portal application on a CERT environment where a user can log in and see the templates created in WAD through internet.
Most of the templates are stateful to facilitate export to Excel,XML and CSV along with saving of Graphs and charts.
As the templates are stateful, they consume a lot of memory and under stress testing, application tanks when there are more than 15 simultaneous users as each user consumes approx 1 gb of memory.
The response time also is very high.
Is there any way to increase the performance without making the templates stateless?
If no, is there any way we can get the required functionality by making the templates stateless?

WAD / Multiple Queries / Performance

Hi Experts
I have a WAD Application, with several (actually, 71) queries. The startup performance is horrible. In note 1056259, paragraph 3.4.2, SAP indicates that we should not start all the queries automatically when the WAD is launched, but only when the user wants to see them (for example, by selecting the appropriate tab page).
I can't find any option for this anywhere!
Has anyone used this option, and if so, how does it work, please?

Hi Mark,
I have used two options to improve performance in such a scenario
1. Dont create a single iview for the for all the items in you application. Create individual iview for every web item (charts/tables etc) and display it one screen. It may not be possible in some cases if you have a complex dashboard but you can try this if you have a simple layout.
2. Use precalculated templates. Calculate the result of the template after every delta load instead of calculating it at runtime. In this case your template will be loaded as an image and will load instantly. But the analysis options like selections, drill downs etc will not be available if you use this.
