WAD Pie Chart Functionalities

Hi All,
I tried on pie chart and have the following problems:
It takes only one line item at a time and shows the result. My requirement is to show the result for whole report at once.
For Ex. I have two columns
Vendor--Spend Value-Spend%
V1--23--
23%
V2--24--
24%
V3--30--
30%
V4--33--
33%
Result----100
If I select pie chart and do the required settings but the result shows only for one line item i.e. either for the V1 and it's spend value or V2 and it's value etc.
Please suggest.

How to Display result value on Pie chart in wad

Dear Experts,
I'm useing WAD to create web template, in that I have a requiremnt to develop Pie chart and it should show material cost according to material type for each slice on Pie chart. I have developed a WAD template for the same and Pie chart as well but I can not see the respective material type cost on Pie chart, where as I can see those values in tool tip when I move mouse over the pie chart, I understand I'm missing a small setting can you please help me to find that setting so that user can see values directly on pie chart without moving the cursor on the same.

are you r using wad 7.0 or 3.5
in 7.0 right click on the graph, edit nyou wil be in the wizard go on step 3 and try to change the series and make sure visilibility is checked
if this doesnt work then click refine and go to series and make sure show lables are checked.

Customizing WAD report chart view with input types(pie, line etc..)

Hi All
I am very much new to WAD, now i have a requirement where in i am viewing a query output as a chart, but here the added features that need to be embedded are, adjacent to the chart view i have 4 radio buttion say
1)area view
2)coloumn view
3)Line view
4)Pie view
Based on the radio button selection the chart view must change, so please guide me how can i achieve this funstionality.

Pie chart issue with WAD

Hi Experts,
When I try to execute a query through Web Application Designer with a form of Pie chart, its not working properly. All I'm getting in web dash board is just a circle with blue color. Its similar to the first picture in the below image.

But I'm getting correct output with Column chart.
Could someone please help me to resolve this problem?

Hello Krish,
Please try to check the below:
1.Did you check the result of the query in graphical view via Query Designer or analyser.
Is the graphical view with chart type as pie , showing different colours through Query Designer or Analyser?? if you finding similar kind of image then swap axes and try..
2.Did you try to assign different colours for different categories.
3.Swap display axes
In th left hand side of the WAD screen.
you will find a properties window. in that there will be 2 tabs.generic and web item.
Click on Webitem.in this go to specific.
and check the check box ...swap display axesand now execute.

Display of colors of categories in a pie chart in WAD... BW 3.5 ...

I am facing a problem that in WAD, i am using Chart web item. I have gone for a pie chart where i have 4 categories to be displayed. I have selected 4 different colors for them.
Category 1 --> A --> Red
Category 2 --> B --> Blue
Category 3 --> C --> Green
Category 4 --> D --> Violet
Here after finishing the design of the web template, when i execute in browser, i am able to see 4 legends displayed under the pie chart but the data is available only for first three categories. And the colors displayed for the legends are not in four number. The color of the legend of the category which is not having data is overlapped by the next one.
The display of the colors in the legends after the execution is like this:
Category 1 --> A --> Red
Category 2 --> B --> Blue
Category 3 --> C --> Green
Category 4 --> D --> Green
The color of the legend 4 is violet but it is showing as Green as the data is not available for that category. Can any one plz help me in this regard how to get the display of all the colors though the data is not available for that particular category.

BI7.0_WAD3.X - Pie Chart- Always shows 2 decimal point

Info: BI 7.0, Stack 10, FE 1100, WAD 3.X
Problem 1: (Pie Chart) : :
a. I am unable to make the Pie chart show percentage in one decimal point. (EG: 56.3%).
b. The Pie chart does not have the selection to show both value & text
Problem 2: (Pie Chart):
Problem 2: The text style does not change at all ( Eg: does not change to bold, italic, does not represent diagonally)
Please let me know if any one seen these problems or any OSS note available the above problems.

If I want to create a bar chart with DP that looks as follows:
Material Total
 A 5
 B 10
 C 7
 D 4
Overall result 26
Then How do I get the labels A, B, C, D in the Y axis as the name of the "category" and also all the series represented in diffrent color say 5 (red), 10(yellow), 7 (blue), 4(green). I am not able to get these two criteria met?
what I am able to achieve is either
1. (A, B, C, D )are shows as the name of the category in the Y-axis, and (total) on X-axis-- then it will have only one series (ie total)....Hence cannot give different colors for the bar representing the category A,B,C,D
(or)
2. (material) shown as the name of the category on Y-axis and (total) on X-axis and the series will have (A, B, C, D) in different colors but the name of the series will be shown anywhere inside the bar and not as the name of the category....b'cos the name of the category will be (material)
so how do i get the ......labels A, B, C, D in the Y axis as name of the "category" (instead of material) and also all the series represented in different color say 5 (red), 10(yellow), 7 (blue), 4(green).
Please let me know if this is possible with the chart wizard in 3.x or 7.0 WAD. I tried and so far no luck!
Earlier in 3.0B it was possible by right clicking every data point to change it's color.

Pie Chart Slice Label Percentage + Label

Hi,
i'm newbie of Publisher 11. I've a problem. I've created a DataSet and a report containing a pie chart using wizard of Publisher as written at following link:

My chart shows near each slice the percentage value, but it should show the percentage value + corresponding legend text. I've changed all chart properties on left side of window, but it doesn't work. I read that i must set the value LD_PERCENT_TEXT. But where????? How can i modify XML? I must export the report in OBIEE to have more functionalities? Can you explain me what to do step by step because it's the first time i use Publisher 11

do paste this in the alt text of the chart ,
Right click the picture , select format picture and go to alt text tab.
paste this in between the graph element and not at the end or beginning.

Pie Chart not showing

I'm trying to display a pie chart in the WAD, I have a query associated to my Data provider, but it doesn't display properly. I'm running WAD 3.x and support package 7.
I tried to use different charts and it seems to display my results fine.
Any ideas why this is happening?

Te issue might be with the way the data is structured in the query..
Copy the data onto a separate sheet and then generate an EXCEL pie chart and change the table structure till you get the format of the graph as desired , now all you need to do is get the quer in the same fomat and you should be good to go.
The graph on the Web depends on the IGS , for Excel , it is based on Excel's charting engine and has not much to do with notes.

Regarding standardization of Colors in Pie chart Categories

Dear BI Experts,
I have an issue regarding Pie Charts in the WAD. When we have 5 categories defined in the Pie chart and each category has got its own defined color.
issue no 1: It is very difficult to go to each cahrt and select the colors for each chart in each category. Is there any place where we can define the colors in common?
issue no 2: When we have the data for all the categories it is doing good. In case of data not available for any purticular category the color defined for that category is coming for the next category. which shud not happen.
Is there any chance of solving this?
Anyone please help me in this concern. Very much awaited.

Sorry about the late response ... connectivity issues....
As for the color issue - you would have fixed colors to each series ... and when there is no data for one of them then that particular series is absent which would mean that the next series would take its place.
Example :
Original query -
4 categories with 4 colors
If one of the categories does not have data then the query would have 3 categories and category 4 would take the place of category 3 and hence the issue of the colors...
I was not able to simulate the same however ....
1. If you had the same data set in Excel - are the colors proper- any Standard data set / BeX chart
2. Is there anyway you can fix the number of categories by way of restricted Key figures etc ? then if that category is present in the query even if there is not data the colors should be maintained.

Customize pie chart

I am using dvt:pieChart to create a pie chart. There are two issues I need help.
1. The legend text sometimes wraps to another line if there is a space within the legend text. Is there any way to control it not to wrap the line?
2. The VO data column name shows at the bottom of the pie chart, since o1title, x1title, y1title not applicable to pie chart. Is there anyway to hide the column name text? Tried shapeattribute "GRAPH_O1TITLE" , "GRAPH_X1TITLE" and GRAPH_Y1TITLE, it does not help either.

In the WAD layout tab, right click on your chart and choose Edit
In edit mode, click on the refine button at the bottom of the window
On the top right, you'll see an Overview area which has the chart properties. Expand the "Categories" section
Select the category where you want to change the background color (eg. Category1)
Expand Area properties
For the Color property, use the dropdown to change from "Automatic" to change it to a custom color

Problem with Pie chart and Hierarchy

I have to display a Pie chart according to a hierarchy.
The top node claims half of the chart.
A hierarchy for example:
Division A 450
 Department A1 100
 Department A2 150
 Department A3 200
The Pie chart is divided to 4 parts (instead of 3), where Division A takes 50%.
I dont want Division A to be seen in the chart.
The best solution would be if WAD could ignore the first category.

In WAD, mark the SUPPRESS_OPENHIERARCHIENODES parameter of the Pie Data Provider.

How to make Chiese Char's shown correctly in Pie Chart of BEx?

Anyone know how to configure the BEx in WAD to make the Chinese description shown correctly in Pie Chart? Any suggestions are appreciated.

please make sure that you have to configure a font for the IGS that supports the desired characters.
Dependant on your scenario you must maintain the xmlchart or gfwchart configuration files. I would maintain both files.
Please refer to note <a href="http://service.sap.com/sap/support/notes/531668">531668</a> for the xmlchart and to note <a href="http://service.sap.com/sap/support/notes/596825">596825</a> for the gfwchart configuration file.

It seems that you are using Dundas Chart Control for SQL Server 2008 R2 Reporting Services not the Dundas Chart Control 2005 that Microsoft has purchased.
Microsoft purchased the license to use Dundas Chart Control 2005 in Reporting Services 2008 and above. Therefore the supported upgrade is from Reporting Services 2005 Dundas Charts to SSRS 2008 (R2) and SSRS 2012 Charts.
If you are using a particular component released by Dundas for SSRS 2008 R2, you won’t be able to upgrade Reporting Services 2008 R2 Reports with Dundas Charts to Reporting Services 2012 Charts.
To confirm this, please check the details of this assembly “DundasRSChart.dll” located under the /Report Server/bin directory.
If the Product Name is “Dundas Chart for Reporting Services 2008 R2”, it indicates that this is a new version of Dundas Chart for SSRS 2008 R2 (i.e. a third party control). If the Product Name is “Microsoft SQL Server”, it indicates that this is the version
that Microsoft has purchased.
In this condition, you have to migrate the DundasRSChart.dll to the SSRS 2012 instance and reference it as the custom assembly in the reports. Please make sure to rename the DLL file so that it won’t replace the native DundasRSChart.dll installed by SQL
Server 2012.

Need help to make a Pie Chart

I am trying to draw a pie chart for the Uptime Report.
I have the Following table definition.

I believe all that you are missing in your sql is a NULL. Below is the help text for creating a Flash pie chart.
Specify the SQL query that will populate your chart, for example:
select null, ename, sal
from emp
Alternatively you can write a PL/SQL function return a SQL query, for example:
begin
return 'select null, ename, sal from emp';
end;
Your query should then read:
select null,round((DOWN/TOTAL)*100,2) val1 , round(100-((DOWN/TOTAL)*100),2) val2

No data in Active sessions pie-chart and availability is 0%

Hi All,
Does anyone know why my Enterprise Manager cosole in Oracle 10g installed on windows xp professional is not showing any data? Availabilty is always 0% for the instance ORCL and the active sessions pie-chart is always showing 0.01 since May 17,2005.
Can anyone tell me how to configure EM so that instance ORCL and the active sessions start showing data again?

Hi,
Kindly activate the data request. Post that, Under "request available for reporting" a symbol will appear which means that the data has been moved to Active table and is available for reporting at further levels.
And you can then check for contents in the active table of the DSo, you should get the records.
Change log: Contains the change history for the delta update from the DataStore object into other data targets, such as DataStore objects or InfoCubes. It makes sense in case of delta uploads.
