• X64 JRE does not support Chinese?

I have application that runs in multi-languages. I have pre-defined list of languages to be supported and I add the language to the combobox if it is installed in the machine where the application is running.
I used Locale.getAvailableLocales() to check for installed languages. In x64 machines with JRE 1.5 or 1.6 installed this call does not return East Asian languages such as Chinese and Japanese eventhough it is installed. Even in Chinese OS the call to Locale.getAvailableLocales() does not return chinese. I made several tests and it looks like the x64 JRE of 1.5 and 1.6 has this problem. I tried the 1.4 JRE and installed it in x64 machine and it was able to detect that Chinese is installed.
I tried setting the default languange to Chinese-China through Control Panel but Locale.getAvailableLocales() still does not return chinese. Although, all other programs are already in chinese. On the other hand, Locale.getDefault returns zh_CN which is correct. I don't understand how Locale.getDefault could return zh_CN while Locale.getAvailableLocales() did not include Chinese in the list.
I also tried SimpleDateFormat.getAvailableLocales() and DateFormat.getAvailableLocales() but they return the same list as Locale.getAvailableLocales.
Does anyone know of other ways of checking for installed languages that would work in x64 machines running 1.5 or 1.6 JRE?

Hi,
I know nothing of x64 JRE's, but when running into a similar problem I eventually found that I installed the (Sun) JRE with the default options. I needed to re-install the JRE and then clicked "Advanced options" (or something similar) on the first installation screen. Then you have an option to select all fonts, including Asianfonts). After I installed with all possible options my problems were gone.
I'm not at all sure that this is causing your problem but you might try,

• Chinese language not support in N93i...

hi.. i have trouble with my nokia N93i, is it anyone here using nokia N93i with chinese word inside.. coz my phone is not support chinese language, i already update my fone but still don't have chinese language.. anyone here can help me??

The phone you have was evidently not intended for the Chinese market. Chinese language would have been in it otherwise.
You will have to take your phone to your nearest Nokia Care Point and ask them to install a Chinese language pack. They may charge for this even if your phone is new since there's nothing actually wrong with it. Also note that a reset or a software update will erase the language pack and you'll have to return to the NCP and have it installed again.

• Messages.properties file not supporting vietnamese and chinese

Hi, I need to support multiple languages in my application.
When i am creating the corresponding messages_vi , messages_zh properties files, Jpf is not picking up the corresponding property file as the property file is not supporting the vietnamese and chinese characters.
Can anyone help me on this.

Jpf is not picking up the corresponding property file as the property file is not supporting the vietnamese and chinese charactersThis is incorrect. But it is vague enough that I cant make out what the problem is.
a. Are you getting english always? . if yes then how are you specifying the locale? Which tag is being used to print out the labels?
b. If you are getting invalid characters(i.e. file picked up but doesnt display correctly , there may be multiple causes. Also note that java property files dont support native encoding (you must use native2ascii to convert from whatever encoding you used to ascii only characters i.e. \uxxxx).

• Charting is not supported with this accessory?

Unlike everyone else attempting to charge their ipod touch with something else, I cannot get a stable charge with my original ipod USB cable that it came with. It would start charging, then randomly stop and say charging is not supported with this accessory. I've tried every solution I can think of/find and nothing works.
It's an ipod touch 3g.
Connecting it to a desktop computer that doesn't go on standby/sleep mode. Since it starts charging I assume there's enough power.
Updated iOS to current.
Blew on the connection points to make sure there's no dust even though it's been like this since it was brand new (and stored away from dust).
Turned it off/back on in case it was an error that stopped the indicator from updating.
It's the original cable so this can't be 3rd party compatibility issue. It was also brand new from an authorized reseller/retail store. So frustrating. Please help? Thank you in advance.

Ah, guess that's it. The wall charger (which was just a usb adapter) didn't work. So, I connected it directly to the back.
Looks pretty stable now, but I can't be sure until I try to charge it again when it's low. The port at the front has been stable for everything else I attach to it (including to sync it). I knew apple was picky, but wow.
Hope it's completely resolved - really don't like power cutting off mid-charge. Until then, thank you so much!

• "Browser is not supported" message accessing a URL to an Image

Hi.
I have a dynamically generated URL, which points to an image (GIF) created based on a BusinessGraphics chart.
When I access this URL with Internet Explorer (6.0.2900), no problem at all. The image loads and is displayed on IE. But, when I set this URL to be called from other sources (like an Adobe Interactive Form image field, or creating a inputstream based on this URL), the below message is displayed:
Sorry, your browser is not supported by Web Dynpro!
Is there a way to solve it? I need to display the image associated to this URL in Adobe Interactive Form.

• Not all chinese characters display correctly with non-embedded text

Hi all,
I've updated to the last beta 2 of Flash Player 10.1 (10,1,51,66) and compiled this simple Flex application to illustrate the fact that not all chinese characters can be displayed correctly with non-embedded text (device font).
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>
<s:Application xmlns:fx="http://ns.adobe.com/mxml/2009"
xmlns:s="library://ns.adobe.com/flex/spark"
xmlns:mx="library://ns.adobe.com/flex/halo"
minWidth="1024" minHeight="768"
creationComplete="resourceManager.localeChain = ['zh_CN'];"
layout="{new VerticalLayout()}">
<fx:Script>
<![CDATA[
import spark.layouts.VerticalLayout;
]]>
</fx:Script>
<s:Label text="伜-伞伟传伡伢伣伤伥伦伧伨伩伪伫伬伭-伝">
</s:Label>
<mx:Label text="伜-伞伟传伡伢伣伤伥伦伧伨伩伪伫伬伭-伝"/>
</s:Application>
Notice that characters from the Unicode range 0x4F1E .. 0x4А2D are not displayed within <s:Label> component that uses Flash Text Engine (FTE) by default to display the text, but at the same time those characters display just fine within older <mx:Label> component that relies on flash.text.TextField instance to render the text.

OK, did not know that "Arial Unicode MS" font is only distributed with Microsoft Office, was looking into relying on this font in case if "simsun.ttc" font is not available at the user's system, by using the following:
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>
<s:Application xmlns:fx="http://ns.adobe.com/mxml/2009"
xmlns:s="library://ns.adobe.com/flex/spark"
xmlns:mx="library://ns.adobe.com/flex/mx"
minWidth="1024" minHeight="768"
creationComplete="resourceManager.localeChain = ['zh_CN']"
layout="{new VerticalLayout()}">
<fx:Style>
@namespace s "library://ns.adobe.com/flex/spark";
@namespace mx "library://ns.adobe.com/flex/halo";
s|Label {
fontFamily: "Arial Unicode MS, SimSun, Arial";
</fx:Style>
<fx:Script>
<![CDATA[
import spark.layouts.VerticalLayout;
]]>
</fx:Script>
<s:Label id="sparkLabel" text="伜-伞伟传伡伢伣伤伥伦伧伨伩伪伫伬伭-伝"/>
</s:Application>
Tough decision ahead, but accordingly to the survey at codestyle.org (2000 participants from 2007 year and onwards), Arial Unicode MS is present at 62.53%% system surveyed.
ps
My current install of Windows XP already includes the install of Microsoft Office 2007 and I've also enabled/disabled the support of East Asian languages, thus the content of my "fonts" folder differs now significantly from "clean" Windows XP install version.
Nevertheless I found the page with comprehensive lists of standard fonts installed with different releases of Windows that looks viable here: http://www.kayskreations.net/fonts/fonttb.html

• Sparkline chart not visible in obiee mobile app using ipad

Hi,
While trying to test our dashboard on IPAD 2, I am noticing that I am not able to view sparkline charts in the IPAD. I understand that since sparkline charts are built using JQUERY and Apple devices don't support jquery, therefore this doesnt work. Can someone please suggest any workarounds, so that we can get the sparkline charts working in the IPAD?
Thanks,
M

Hi,
Viewing the reports generated by OBIEE on the phone/ipad devices requires further configuration of the OBIEE presentation server as the devices presently does not support Flash displayed on web pages. So reports that contain Flash components like charts are not displayed correctly.
We can modify the instanceconfig.xml file to display charts in a custom graphic format like PNG or JPEG instead of flash.
Include the following in <Server Instance> section of instanceconfig.xml
<Charts>
<DefaultImageType>PNG</DefaultImageType>
</Charts>
It is recommended that you configure a separate presentation server to cater to the mobile device users as displaying charts in PNG or JPEG disables some of the interactive features offered by Flash.

• Fpga wavefrom chart not working

Compact rio using fpga. 9014/9114
In a fpga interface project if I create array and then connect it directly to a waveform chart it says the array needs to be of a fixed size.
However I have tested using a constant arrary of fixed size, initialise arrary to fixed size...etc but it always comes up with this error when trying to run the VI,
I have autopreallocate arrays and strings as indicated in the help file but still it comes up with the error.
Labview 11, sp1 (completely up to date)
I am running as "execute on development computer"
The arrary is of type fixed point 27bit integer(output from fft)
Solved!
Go to Solution.

First of all, in your code you are using a Waveform Graph, not a Waveform Chart as what you wrote in your posts before!
Then DBL is currently a not supported datatype at the LV FPGA platform. There is also a strange issue with Graphs and Charts regarding their type propagation to the FXP datatype.
So the issue I found is that if you place a Waveform Graph or Chart from the palette, it's DBL. If you then connect a FXP Array you get the error you see since the Graph or Chart does not propagate to the FXP datatype. If you change the datatype of the Array to e.g. I32, the Graphs or Charts datatype changes to I32. If you change the I32 back to FXP then, everything works as it should.
This means for you, first create an I32 Array and connecti it to the Graph or Chart to get rid of the Fixed Size error. Then change the Array to FXP.
I need to do some more investigation regarding this issue and will post back.
