WAG320N port forwarding to wireless client/bridge client

Hi,
My network looks like the above diagram:
1. Wireless bridge connections.
ADSL Line ==> WAG320N (192.168.1.1) == bridge client mode ==> TP-Link WR941ND (192.168.1.4) ==> Client (192.168.1.11)
2. Lan connections.
ADSL Line ==> WAG320N (192.168.1.1) == cable connection ==> Client (192.168.1.100)
3. Wireless AP conenctions.
ADSL Line ==> WAG320N (192.168.1.1) == wireless connection ==> Client (192.168.1.106)
Port forwarding from WAN to LAN (scenario 2) clients works great, but I have problem with wireless clients (scenario 1 and 3). Accessing the wireless destination from LAN is possible. Also pings from WAG320N to the wireless destination looks OK.

When i am using wifi,it frequently disconnects or doesn't work.
There is no fault from my ISP Provider.
Anyone can address my issues...Thanks a lot....

Reset the WAG320N then check if you are getting a valid ip address to know if it is still assigning an ip address to the network. To reset, press and hold the reset button for 30 seconds while the power on. After that, release the button and power off the WAG. Leave it off for 30 seconds then power it back on. Wait for the power light to stop blinking then check if you have a valid ip address with the computer. You may click  the link below on how to check the ip address of the computer:

  • Port forwarding: Base station as bridge or modem/router as bridge?

I use a modem/router (Netopia Cayman 3346) to connect to the internet. It's hooked up to my airport extreme (old round model) to go wireless.
I now would like to forward some ports. I understand you have to set either the airport station or the modem/router as a bridge and then forward the ports on the other device. Am I right so far?
My question: What is the difference (if any) to bridge either one of the devices? Any pros or cons in using Airport as port forwarding device or my netopia? Which one shall I set to bridge mode? Both allow to set port forwarding.
Thanks for clearing this up for me.
    Gordon.

I'd like to forward some specific ports. For example port 36391 (TCP/UDP). I know that to do this I have to set one of the two devices as a bridge, and then configure the other device to forward the ports I want. I also know that I can either set up my base station as the bridge or my modem/router.
My question is: which one of the two shall I choose to use as bridge? Airport base station or modem/router? Does it matter or not which one I choose?
    Thanks

  • Port Forwarding Time Capsule With Bridge Mode

Whoever says that the Time Capsule opens all ports if it is in Bridge Mode, it does not.
I have put my Time Capsule in DMZ, firewall disabled, and it is still blocking ports, except for a couple (Apple Filesharing, Telnet,…)
My TC was set up in Bridge Mode as it SHOULD indeed open all ports, but this is not the case, it seems you have to add the ports yourself.
How it works is completely not intuitive and i would even consider it a bug.
Adding the following port configuration opened up the port, even though it was blocked before adding it with the TC in Bridge Mode.
This doesn't seem to work for all ports however, so i am at a loss as to what is going on
I'm using the following site to test the Network ports
    http://www.whatsmyip.org/port-scanner/
If anyone could explain or help out, that would be great
    Kind Regards,
    Cipher

Hi, Thank you both for your continued support!
The main router is from our ISP, it is remotely controlled by our ISP and they will not allow us to access it and adjust/view the configuration ourselves (dumb, i know, but can't be helped), which is why is i went with the DMZ option, as i don't want to keep having to call them, wait and trouble shoot every time a specific port needs to be opened.
That router goes to 2 floors in the building, with a switch on the first floor and another one on the second floor, this second one extends the network to the third floor. My Time Capsule is connected to this switch.
The main router from our ISP has the IP 192.168.254.150 set up to be in DMZ (per request) as well as the, what they call, "soft firewall" disabled.
My Time capsule has it's network setup manually, so it has the static IP mentioned just above, the router is the main router from our ISP
Currently the TC is set up to to share that IP address using DHCP & NAT, where the private IP range identifier is different from the one used by the main router (TC is using 10.0.X.X) resulting in a double NAT, but causing no problem since the IP identifier is different
Ports that need to be forwarded have been mapped in the TC
IPv6 is configured to be setup automatically and it's mode is set to Native
The TC also broadcasts a secure wireless network
My Main Desktop (running OS X Mountain Lion) is connected through ethernet, directly to the TC
I have tried connecting to an external server @ IP XX.XXX.XX.XX on port 7777, but the connection fails
That's pretty much it i think.

  • OpenVPN IPv6 client, IPv4 server, Port forwarding?

I'd like to use an anonymous VPN with OpenVPN, but my new ISP only gives IPv6 addresses and IPv4 only via DualStack lite (4in6).
As a consequence, my machine is only reachable with IPv6 Port Forwarding.
    The VPN-Provider only supports IPv4.
    Now the question:
Can I reach my machine through IPv6 Port forwarding with OpenVPN and get a static IPv4 and Port forwarding(v4) from him?
    As I see it:
I should be able to establish a connection with the VPN. I get a static address and the provider is forwarding the ports. Because I made the connection TO him it doesn't matter which ports are open on my side. Right?
Or is it the other way around, that both need ports that can be forwarded?

I guess you mean forwarding from WAN (server) to LAN (client) (both static IPs)?
(Server must be your Internet gw/router.)
NAT requires the ipfw firewall running so you need to add these ports (TCP? and/or UDP?) to the "allowed in" list for the server public/WAN IP. Turn on logging of denied packets to see what happens.

  • Suggestions on a wireless client bridge unit running MIMO 5ghz

I have replaced my main router WRT300N running dd-wrt with the a stock E4200 and an old WRT54G aslo running dd-wrt configured for wireless client bridge. Now that I'm learning more about 802.11N, I was wondering what client can I use to achieve 5ghz simultaneously radio transmission since my current setup cannot do this in the 5ghz band. Can the E3000 be ran in wireless client bridge mode, if not what product can provide this? On the other thought am I understanding MIMO?
    Old setup: 802.11G 2.4ghz

    Thanks,

There are various router models available which works on 5GHz frequency (E300, E3200 etc.). However, its not sure whether the third party firmware (dd-wrt) would be compatible with it or not?
Secondly, warranty of your product becomes void if  you update any third party firmware on your product. Anything goes wrong with the product, it is not eligible for the replacement.

  • WRT300N as client bridge

A local high school lab teacher purchased a WRT300N to connect his wireless lab to the school network. I want to stop it from distributing IP addresses and act as a client bridge instead. I want the wireless clients to get an IP address from the district DHCP server. Is this possible?

It sounds like you want the WRT300N to be converted to a WAP (wireless access point).   This is possible, assuming that your district DHCP server will be handing out addresses that use the 255.255.255.0 subnet mask.  The WRT300N was designed to be a home router, so all its addresses must use this subnet mask.
To convert the WRT300N to a WAP, do the following:
Power down the WRT300N and disconnect it from everything.
Connect one computer, by wire, to any numbered LAN port (not the Internet port) on the WRT300N.
    Login to the WRT300N.
Set the "Local IP Address" to a fixed LAN IP address.  You can use any address that will be recognized by the district DHCP router as a fixed LAN IP address.
Set the "DHCP server" to "disabled".
    Save your settings.
    Exit your browser.
Power down the WRT300N and your computer.
Using an ethernet cable, connect any LAN port from the district router to any numbered LAN port on the WRT300N.  Do not use the "Internet" port on the WRT300N.  Power up your system.
The district router will control your router settings (firewall, DHCP server, port forwarding, etc.). The WRT300N will only control your wireless settings.   Optionally, you can use the WRT300N's LAN ports to connect additional wired devices to your network.

  • How to make my WRT54G see my WRT110 when my WRT54G is a client Bridge

How to make my WRT54G see my WRT110 when my WRT54G is a client Bridge?
It does not see any wireless signals in the status
    I am using  DD-WRT v24-sp2 (10/10/09) std-nokaid with the WRT54G

You should post this question on the DD-WRT forum since it is their firmware.

Got a Host DSL/router (Netopia) which came with my DSL provider. I wish to setup my WRT150 as a Client Bridge. Which WRT150 settings are required? Should I do this by installing DD-WRT firmware first? see link: http://www.coderetard.com/2008/05/30/installing-dd-wrt-firmware-on-a-linksys-wrt150n-wireless-router/

I am not sure that DD-WRT will work or not ..... however it will void the warrenty for the router .....
however you can use following settings .....
Access the setup page of the router by launching an
Browser and type on the address bar, 192.168.1.1 and press enter. When
it prompts for the username and password, leave the username field
empty and provide password as "admin" (Without quotes)
    click on ok.
On the main setup page the ""Internet Connection Type"" should be
on ""Obtain IP Automatically - DHCP “. Click on the Save Settings
    button.
Now click on the sub tab ""MAC address clone"".
    - Click on enable
Click Clone & click save settings
Check WAN Ip on Status page of router ....
If getting Valid Ip .... try going online
If you are getting Ip - 192.168.1.X ...change the LAN Ip to 192.168.2.1 ....Power cycle for 3-4 minutes ...
    Try going online
If still not working ...use Internet Connection type as PPPOE .... Use Username & Password provided by Service Provider ....
    Click save settings....
Look for WAN IP address again under status page ...

  • Setting up Time Capsule as primary wireless router and enabling port forwarding

I am attempting to setup my Time Capsule as the primary router on my wireless network. I have an Actiontec Verizon FIOS router that I am connecting the TC to using ethernet, and I was then going to turn off the wireless function on the Verizon router so that the TC will be the only wireless router. I am not exactly sure how to go about this, and I also have to connect a wireless device to the TC that requires a static IP address and port forwarding enabled so that I can access from my iPhone. I am completely lost on how to do this, any help will be greatly appreciated.

Unless Verizon has made a major change in the last few days, you will not be able to use the TC as the primary router......simply because it is not possible to configure the Verizon router to act as a simple modem......which is what it must do if you want to have the TC act as the primary router on your network.
As LaPastenague has explained. turning off the wireless on the Verizon modem/router will not make it a modem.  It will still be a wired modem/router in charge of the network, not allowing the Time Capsule to take over the role of main router for the network.
But, let's assume that I am wrong. Please check with Verizon support and ask them........
    1) If it is somehow now possible to configure their modem/router to act as a simple bridge mode modem. If they say that this is not possible (or they will not support this).....
    2) Ask them if they can provide you with a simple, bridge mode modem......instead of the modem/router that you have now. A simple modem will have only one Ethernet port, and it will not offer any type of routing or wireless service at all.)

  • E3000 repeater bridge or client bridge...

    Hi,
Who knows the best version (DD-WRT or other) to repeat the wireless signal with a E3000?
At worst, a client bridge mode could be sufficient for my needs...
    Thanks,

I believe there is only one version for the e3000. What I mean is that there aren't multiple kinds (mini,VPN,etc). I think setting it to repeater bridge mode would get the job done: http://dd-wrt.com/wiki/index.php/Repeater_Bridge I would just follow the wiki. I'm pretty sure the version that they use has support for repeater bridge mode. Here's the link if you don't already have it. http://dd-wrt.com/wiki/index.php/Linksys_E3000 I just googled all this stuff so I can't really help you out any further. Universal wireless repeater mode sounds good too. Here's the main article http://dd-wrt.com/wiki/index.php/Linking_Routers
I don't work for Cisco. I'm just here to help.

  • Spectrum24 Client Bridge to LWAPP AP isnt working

We have several GE MAC5000 EKG Carts that use a Spectrum24 Client Bridge (CB-1000-0000) that has a Symbol PCMCIA 802.11b card in it. These work fine with our autonomous APs but will not work on our new LWAPP wireless network. It does associate but if I look at the controller at the details of the client it shows an IP address of 0.0.0.0. These are statically assigned and I do not require DHCP for the WLAN it is associating to. Anyone have any ideas for me? Thanks.

Are the CB-1000's showing up in the Client Exclusion List.
Are your LWAPP AP's using the same IP Scheme as the Autonomous AP's?
I have had problems with other Symbol gear (wireless barcode scanners) and Zebra wireless printers when trying to use static addresses once AP's were converted to LWAPP - I would get a similar situation that you are describing.
I ended up using DHCP but putting in a reservation for those devices with the IP address I wanted to use.

  • Port forwarding but can only connect to wifi in Bridge Mode

    Hi
Our ISP is TalkTalk and we use their Fibre service which connects through a BT Open Reach Modem.  The TalkTalk router seemed to causing drop outs in wifi on my macbook pro so I bought an Airport Time Capsule for the wifi router and to back up my mac.
We aren't issued with PPPoE details and the advice from the TalkTalk community was to connect with the Router in Bridge Mode.  This has worked a treat with the various Apple and non Apple items we have in out house except one.
We have security cameras which we control through a Windows laptop and can view one out phones.  To make this happen we have to set up port forwarding. However, we can't do this as it's in Bridge Mode (as far as I understand).
I'm afraid my knowledge of these things is very basic so I'm hoping that someone will have an easy answer to this.  Anyone got any advice on how I can make this pretty white box do its stuff please?
    Thanks in advance!

How do I set up my air port extreme to do port forwarding? Running 10.7.4 I have a IP camera on my local wireless net work that I want to use from my iPhone 4s and other computers.

In most cable systems, the router you have will plug into your modem and just work automatically. A NAT (Network Address Translation) router takes your external IP and hands out LAN (Local Area Network) based IPs. All of the devices you are working with right now should handle the change automatically unless you've changed from the default automatic configuration.
The problem with your wireless end of this is that the iPhone is not yet 802.11n, only 802.11g. Because that router is not dual band, all of your wifi devices will be forced to slow down to 802.11g speeds. This won't matter much for each device that's connecting to the internet, as your bottleneck is still going to be there. Where you will see slowdowns is device to device connections, like transferring data between the devices.

I'll preface this by stating I don't know networking in depth, so please excuse my ignorance, with the questions I'm asking.
I purchased a WAG320N and E4200 and have manged to get the modem connected to the internet and it's running fine in that respect, with no adjusting done to the settings. My intentions are to connect the WAG320N to the E4200 wirelessly, as they are in seperate rooms in the house and have done a similar setup in the past with a 7300G Billion Modem and WRT54GL.
With the E4200 I quickly discovered there was no bridge mode out of the box, but checking these forums got the indication that the firmware updates added this capability, so updated it..I entered the IP Address of the Router, the Subnet mask of the network and the Default Gateway / Modem router IP address into the fields, following this guide, but have not been able to get the computers to contact one another, nor ping the other devices.
Is there something I'm doing wrong here? I'm sure there is something I've overlooked, as it's a different setup to the last one I had. Please help .

The E4200 does not connect wireless to other access points. You must connect it with a cable.
It only supports a wired bridge mode but not wireless.

  • Wireless Webcam Port Forwarding

Westell 327W ModemRouter/Wireless all-in-one.  3360 Kbits Verizon DSL service. Trendnet TV-IP501W wireless internet camera- computer can be turned off and camera will still work as long as it gets wireless from the Westell.  Westell "dslrouter" interface, verizon flavor, similar to Actiontec MI-424-WR.
Set up camera fine on my side of the Westell- home network can see/use it fine.  I want to make it available out to the world so others can see it and so I can see it when away from home.  Right now I turn the Westell off at night and back on in the morning.
Now, before we get into port forwarding issues, how could this possibly work since each time you turn on the Westell Verizon assigns you a different (dynamic) IP address?  Sure, in my house the camera, computers may get the same internal home network address but that won't work beyond my house.  Or, should you just never turn off the Westell so you have the same IP (static?) all the time?  What if power failure (OK, a UPS could alleviate that) or an interruption at Verizon's end?
So, can someone enlighten me on the basic methodology first, before we get into port forwarding and my many trys at that- addl info will then be provided.
    Thanks in advance!

You have to setup a free account on http://www.dyndns.com/ or other DNS site. Depends on the webcam you have but some have their own service for this, Dlink and Panasonic have this service in the setup.
If you use any port other than 80 you will need to setup a webhop on http://www.dyndns.com/ . From past experience the Verizon modems block incoming port 80. I found that switching to a dlink DSL modem that 80 was not blocked. It must be in the Verizon firmware where they block port 80. My guess is you will not be able to use port 80.
You will set your webhop up with the port number at the end like this http://www.yourdomain.org : port# The webhop works by making 2 domains with the first one forwarding to the second one that has the port number on it.
