Wah pedal

I can get the wah pedal to respond to my expression pedal (Roland EV-5), but it only goes from up, to all the way pressed but nothing in between.

Wish I could delete this. I just switched keyboards and it worked properly. The Logic Environment View needs much work to be user friendly - Propellerhead has that down!

  • How to use the wah pedal in L9?

    Hi there,
In the new pedal board in L9 there is a couple of wah pedals. Does any one know how to use them 'real time'? May be with an expression pedal, so I won't have to automate the whole thing?
Basicly I wan't to be able to play my guitar with wah when I record.
    Any suggestions?

  • Expression Pedal to Wah Pedal in Logic Pro X

This should be simple as control-click the pedal and assign a midi controller such as cc11 but it isn't.
How in heaven's name do you control the wah-wah foot pedal with your MIDI foot pedal?
Somebody, please...I been trying to figure this out for days!

In LPX it is almost that easy.....
Note: Make sure you have turned on ALL the advanced features in LPX's Prefs/Advanced before proceeding
    1) Select the track you wish to automate and make sure the plugin (or in your case, I assume the Pedalboard interface) is visible on the screen
    2) Press Command + L to open the Control Assignment window.
    3) If the Learn button in the bottom righthand corner of the Control Assignment Window is not Blue.. click on it once to turn it on (Blue in color)
    4) Click on the wah pedal graphic in the pedalboard window
    5) Move your Expression Pedal all the way up and all the way down. You should see the Wah pedal graphic move along with your movements of the expression pedal.
    6) Click the Blue Learn button to complete the process.
    7) Done.
Additional info: Instead of... or in addition to...your expression pedal  you could also assign any other slider or knob on your midi controller for example to any other knob/slider or parameter in the pedal board or any other plugin or the LPX mixer functions such as pan or effect send level... for that matter... you currently have active too... by repeating the above process from Step #2
Now read up on automation in the manual as to how to best record such movements and be able to easily edit them if needed.

...and also type Automation in the search box in the online guide for more info...

  • Can midi keyboard sustain pedal control guitar stomp box wah pedal

Does anyone know if a midi keyboard sustain pedal can be used to control a guitar stomp box variable.  Specifically the controller pedal for the "wah" pedals. Many thanks!

Sustain cannot control Wah, because a sustain pedal only sends out value 0 (up/off) or value 127 (down/on). You need an expression/volume pedal, that sends out continuous messages from 1 to 127, which is what you'ld need for operating Wah.

  • How to record with a wah pedal ?

    Hello,
I use garageband 10.0.2 and i would like add a wah effect on my song but i can't activate the pedal and play with in same time ^^
And when i want to record the pedal on the song i can't just activate the pedal witout delete the song...
Someone can't help me please ?
(Sorry my english isn't wonderfull ^^)

You can't record automation data (online) in GarageBand, you have to draw them in (offline). This is not a problem if you set the gain or the delay parameter. With the Wha pedal, you want to perform while you are playing but that doesn't work.
Show the Automation Controls (Key Command A)
Enable Automation for the Track with the wha pedal
Select the "Pedal Position" in the Automation Paameter popup menu.
Draw the the movement into the Automation Lane
You can see that the "Pedal Position" in the Smart Controls Window and the actual Pedal in the Plugins WIndow move accordingly when you playback your Track.
Make sure to have the Effect enabled. Either with the switch in the Samrt Controls Window or the Plugins Window.
    Hope that helps

  • Guitar Rig 3 - wah pedal not recording...

    Hi there
How do I get Guitar Rig 3 to work so that when I use the Kontrol for wah, it picks it up? At present Logic is just recording the raw sound.
    Thanks!
    Steve

Doesn't the GR manual describe how to do all this?
From memory, the issue is that you are recording onto an audio track with GR on it, and twiddling the pedal sends MIDI info, which obviously can't be recorded onto an audio track (because it's MIDI). And the effects of the pedal won't be printed into the audio, because you ar printing the guitar sound before it's processed with GR, so it's just the dry sound.
If you want to print GR, you can use it on an input channel, rather than on the destination recording track. This uses GR pre-tape, and thus the audio from GR is recorded, not the dry guitar signal (you could always record that as well, to give you options).
Lastly, you could probably also record-enable a MIDI track and record the MIDI data the pedal sends during the performance, and play it back to GR to replicate your pedal moves...
But I'm sure the manual talks about all this...

  • Routing the expression pedal to the wah in the Pedalboard

How in heaven's name do you control the wah pedal in the pedalboard with an expression pedal (CC11) or anything else?
    Please help, anyone!!

    I Keenboards,
I think I understand your question. As any parameter in MS you wish to control with hardware you need to assign it. Just go to Layout windows, add a pedal to the screen and on the left side choose learn and move your pedal (hardware) now if everything´s good you should have controller by the expression pedal. On the edit windows you can select the pedal on the screen and assign what you want that to do (wah wah).
    hope it helps you

  • Help...How To Assign Mod Wheel To Open Close Wah in Logic

I assigned the wah pedal in the guitar pedalboard to a track. I can see the parameter for Open and Close, or "pedal state" as something you can automate in the arrange window. But how can one assign your mod wheel to this effect?
    Thanks for any help...
    Tom

Activate the learn function. Rock the pedal, then move the mod wheel. Close the learn window.

  • I just got a fc7 yamaha expression pedal and can't figure out how to configure it with mainstage or logic.

I just got a fc7 yamaha expression pedal and can't figure out how to configure it with mainstage or logic.  I'm using a Gio pedal.

    Hi
You will need to map the "Expression Pedal" to the Waa pedal. There are several ways you could do it, here's one:
In Layout Mode, add a Pedal Screen control, and Assign it to the in-coming MIDI from the GiO.
In Edit mode, select the Screen Control, and click the "Map Parameter" button. While this is active click on the Wah pedal in the PedalBoard plugin. Turn off 'Map Parameter".

  • Recording Expression Pedal problem

I'm having a problem recording a guitar using an expression pedal in Logic Pro X. I have my guitar patch set up correctly, and I'm using it with the Wham pedal. It's correctly mapped to my expression pedal on my Behringer FCB1010, and everything sounds fine when I try it out through the monitor without recording. However, once I start recording the part, it only captures the high end of the expression.
I'm using the Wham to go up an octave, but I want it to record the transition of a note while pushing up the expression pedal - it only seems to capture the whole thing one octave up. An example of what I'm trying to do is Tom Morello's guitar solo on Audioslave's "Like a Stone." The Wham is perfect for this effect, but only if it records the note slowly moving up in key in relation to my foot pedal. It's just recording the whole part one octave up even though it sounds right through the monitor. Any ideas? If it won't do it, then I might as well just record the part playing it an octave up, which sorta defeats the purpose of the Wham - and the Octave pedal does that just fine. Hope u can help!

    Please help.
As soon as you assign a midi message to a parameter (which you have done) with the Learn function, the midi data gets "hijacked" by that and will no longer reach the logic sequencer. You can see that in the MIDI monitor in your transport: as soon as you delete the assignment of the expredal, the control 11 messages from your pedal will show up there.
What you need to do instead, is engage track automation (Latch mode) to record the movements of the parameter. But if you need the Epedal to get the cc 11 MIDIdata to the track, then you should delete the Controller Assignment from the window (cmd-K).

  • How to make a "wah" lead guitar sound less shrill?

Hi all, so I have this song with the following, all on seperate tracks: Drums, Bass, Distorted Rhythm Electric Guitar, and Distorted Lead Electric on a Crybaby Wah Pedal.
I'm happy with everything except the Lead Guitar track. The wah makes it sound shrill, ear-splittingly so. I recorded by sticking a mic in front of the guitar amp (me using headphones).
I've fiddled with a it a bit, and but can't really find a way to "warm up" the sound of that lead guitar.
I'll attach an mp3 if anyone wants to hear it.
    Any suggestions?

    Since I'm bored...
Here are some graphs just to give you an idea of how crazy some guitar pedals are and how much they filter the audio....
The first one (MT-2 AC (Un-modified - Full gain).jpg) is a graph of an unmodified pedal. Notice the peaks and how drastic it changes the sound...
The second one (MT-2 (Modified - Full gain).jpg) is a graph of a modified pedal that eliminates the three fixed boost circuits but allows the 3 tone controls to still function...
The modified pedal does less to the audio and allows the person (or persons) mixing the sound to control where those peaks will be and how much gain there will be...
    Erg... Have to go now...

  • How do I use my MIDI controller to change PedalBoard in LP9?

I'm not exactly sure how to phrase this, so I'm to just go for it & then try my best to narrow things down, clarify & define.
I'm using Logic Pro 9 & Pedalboard (VERY cool). I've read the "manual" on it, but still can't figure out how to get my controller to run it. Basically, I have a Behringer FCB1010, that has been modified. It has 2 rows of "buttons", the bottom row now works like a regular stop box (it looks a LOT like Pedalboard actually) & there are two pedals. One pedal sends CC7 (Volume) the other pedal sends CC4. I use that one for a Wah Wah. The FCB1010 is programmed to send ONLY on MIDI Channel 16 (I set it that way).
The bottom row of 5 buttons are programmed as:
    Button 1 => CC26
    Button 2 => CC27
    Button 3 => CC28
    Button 4 => CC29
    Button 5 => CC30
How do I (or can I) get say a Distortion Pedal in the first position of PedalBoard to respond to my Button 1, that's sending CC26, so that it can toggle the state of that pedal (turn it on / off)? Then, I'd like to do the same with the next several pedals on PedalBoard & use my pedals to run the Wah Wah pedal in PedalBoad.
Also, I have 2 keyboards (a Korg & a Kurzweil) running on different MIDI channels. I use them to trigger plugins. I've been able to figure out how to get each to play one plugin or both to play the same plugin, but is there something I can set so that when the keyboards send CC7, it goes to the plugin & does NOT get picked up by the Mixer? Right now, when I try to change the volume of a plugin, it turns down the fader for whatever channel on the mixer is associated with it. I JUST want it to run the plugin & bypass the Mixer if possible.
I'm sure this is a VERY confusing explanation of things. I apologize in adavance. PLEASE ask questions so that I can help to formulate a clearer picture of what the XXXX I'm trying to say & do here.
    THANK YOU FOR HELPING!!!!

  • Controlling Amplitube in Mainstage

I am unable to map a Mainstage screen control to any of Amplitube's parameters. Yet I have no problem with Guitar Rig.
I do the same procedure for both: click on the screen control, select Map Parameter, move the parameter in Amplitube (e.g. the wah pedal), click Map Parameter again but it never registers. I've tried manually selecting every parameter listed in the Amplitube folder but again the control never maps.
Any idea what I'm doing wrong? I'm baffled as it just works as intended with all other plugins and I can't find anything here or on IKmultimedia's site which suggests that Amplitube works differently or that there is a problem.
    Any help gratefully received.

Yeah, Amplitube works very differently from Guitar Rig (especially Guitar Rig 4) and after using both a lot, I've come around to realizing GR midi mapping works way easier/better than Amplitube imho.
So, I think the step you're missing is, you have to first of all use X-Gear as the plug-in, then select your patch from whichever Amplitube module your using. You then need to tell Amplitube that you want to do automation and what you want to automate (this is the bit you don't have to do in Guitar Rig).
    - Select the "Automation" box in X-Gear.
    - It will bring up a panel where on the right side is the Plug-In list and on the left is DAW Automation and the middle has Add, Remove, Move Up/Down, etc
    - Select the item you want to map from the Plug-In drop down list. It's a nested drop-down based Amp, Stomp, etc with each item within those areas.
    - When you locate the item you want, click on it, then click on the Param you want to assign it to, and then click "Add"
    - Then go back into Mainstage and in the parameter mapping assign your control to the corresponding parameter you assigned in Amplitube.
    - That's it.
The problem is that you have to do the parameter mapping in two places, first in Amplitube, then in Mainstage.
    Hope that helps,
    Jas.

  • Recording realtime automation in GB 10.0.3

    Hi,
Does GB record automation in realtime? - I am a guitarist and using an Apogee GiO with expression pedal I am able to play in GB using all the MIDI functions of the GiO including the expression pedal which is used for Wah and Whammy pedals etc - This all works perfectly and I can hear and see the pedals movements in Pedalboard and in Smart controls.
However, while I record a track I continue to see and hear the Wah pedal movements etc BUT when I replay the recording NONE of these movements are heard and NONE are shown in the Automation line (it is just a straight line over the audio).
The use of Wah and Whammy pedals is such an important and personal style unique to each player that I cannot beleive that Apple expect you to put these movements in manually - I would imagine it would be the same for Keyboard players using Mod wheels etc ...
The MIDI info is getting to GB as I can see and hear the Wah/whammy pedals working along with the pedals On/Off functions and the GB transport controls all work. It´s just when recording these changes are not captured.
    Have I missed something obvious?
    Many thanks
    Mike

Mike, you have to make a very important distinction between "recording Track Automation" and "recording MIDI Events"
    Track Automation
When you record track automation online (yes Logic can do that), you move the onscreen controller (Fader, Knob, etc) on your DAW, or use an external controller (Control Surface) to remotely move those onscreen controller. What is record are so-called "Fader Events". You can also create those Fader Events offline, by manually drawing those Automation Control Points (which are the representation of those Fader Events).
    MID Recording
When you use a MIDI Controller, you record its MIDI signals as individual MIDI Events in GarageBand (or Logic). These MIDI Events are the notes you play on the keyboard or any controller (PitchWheel, ModWheel, etc) on a MIDI Keyboard. The important thing is that these are all MIDI Events that you can edit in the Piano Roll. When looking, for example, in the MIDI Draw Area of the Piano Roll Editor, you can see the MIDI Events for the ModWheel (CC#1). Although they look like automation at a (Control Points creating a continuous curve)., these are just MIDI Events
Here is a screenshot of GarageBand that shows Track Automation and MIDI Recording, both look like "automation", but they are different.
    Attention
Many Control Surfaces use MIDI as the protocol to send and receive data. This could lead to some confusion. Although you would send a MIDI signal from your controller to the GarageBand/Logic, you are not recording that MIDI signal. That signal is only used to remotely move specific onscreen controls in GarageBand/Logic. Only the Fader Events related to specific controls (and even controls on the Smart Controls) are recorded in the Track Automation and visible as an Automation Curve on the Track Lane.
I hope that explanation is not too complicated/confusing. I explain all that in great detail with lots of graphics in my manuals "GarageBand X - How it Works" and "Logic Pro X - How it Works".
    Hope that helps
