Wait... Installing...

I am translating into English the message I published a few hours ago in the Spanish forum. That's why the screenshots are in Spanish. Hello, A few days ago I had trouble installing Gran Turismo 6's last update, having no other option than disconnecting the console as it was freezed with the screen in black. I restored the console to factory settings and tried to update its system, but when it restarted to begin with the installation of the update, it just stopped working. I had to call the technical service and send it for repair. Yesterday, 4:00pm approx. After a week of waiting time, my PlayStation was back. Well, not exactly mine, but a refurbished one. At least the outside part seemed to be new, because it had plastics on the shiny part and the disk tray. I don't know how it is inside. Yesterday I inserted the Gran Turismo 6 disk into the console and it started to download game updates, exactly 12 of them. After a long wait, they finished downloading at midnight, more or less. After that, the next screen appeared, but the remaining time was only 3 minutes. I did wait for like 30 minutes and the screen was still the same.  Wait. Installing... Do not turn off the system while the Hard Disk access indicator is flashing. Time remaining: 270 min.  Because of this, and because the console had been turned on quite an amount of time, I pressed the PS button in order to go back to the menus and turn it off. Curiously, the console did beep once and it restarted, without consequences, fortunately. I turned it off in the normal way and I went to sleep. Today, 9:00am approx. This morning I woke up and I turned the console on, and the screen shown is the one from the picture above. At the beginning, the remaining time is like 200 or 400 minutes, but then it reduces to a few, less than ten, but they never end. Today, 10:45am, I update the situation   The installation process has stopped and the next screen is shown.  Error. An error has occured during installation. Accept. When I accepted, the installation process started again. I fear I might be in a loop. Let's see If you can give me some advice or suggestion because I don't know how to act, and I want to play the game soon. Again, thank you in advance. If you speak Spanish, you can answer me here.

Hi .Sorry to hear of your troubles.    Yes that HTTP 403 error seemed to affect quite a few people over the weekend.Hopefully things have calmed down since. Not sure what you mean by 'pausing during game play'.But I would have perhaps had a go at a couple of Safemode functions before deleting the install, just incase any HDD issues were able to be solved that way. Anyway, let's see if we can move forward. So it sounds like you deleted everything okay and successfully re-downloaded the game. But then hit trouble with the updates. It also sounds like you've had a decent read of some of the tips, which is good.I'm still a fan of establishing that the game is running as it should on v1.00 before proceeding. And I'm still a fan of the XMB update option as opposed to doing it in-game. There is a new PS3 FW update available ... v4.66 (I think)Just make sure your console is fully updated as well. Regarding the step approach for updates. As you can probably guess, I haven't had to do it for GT6. (cross fingers, touch wood, etc)So I can only assume it still works the same way it did a few updates ago. By that I mean that once you're all set and ready to start downloading the updates, you should see it is done via multiple files.(it will probably will tell you 1 of 13 when you first start)So the idea is the first file will download, and it will then install.Once done it will move to downloading 2 of 13, and again once that's downloaded move onto installing 2 of 13. You are able to stop the download process after any file has downloaded and installed by pressing 'circle'So if you wish, you can watch file 1 of 13 download, then install, and then see it change to file 2 of 13.And then once it's begun downloading file 2 of 13 you can press 'circle' to cancel the update process. You've now effectively updated one patch. You can then play GT6 (either offline or by cancelling any prompts to sign-in) and check you've advanced to the next version and the game is playing as it should. Slowly you can creep up on being fully updated to v1.14. Here's the patch sizes so far :The list below is my best knowledge as to the size of each update file.v1.01 = 1.2GBv1.02 = 1.2GBv1.03 = 99MBv1.04 = 214MBv1.05 = 100MBv1.06 = 295MBv1.07 = 961MBv1.08 = 1.4GBv1.09 = 598MBv1.10 = 2.1GBv1.11 = 30MBv1.12 = 484MBv1.13 = 9.5MBv1.14 = 548MB You can use this as a guide to know how many 'files' at one time you wish to download and install before cancelling the update process.I mean there's probably not much point going one update at a time for v1.03 through to v1.06 as they are all quite small, so you could do them in one hit.Be wary of v1.09 as it contained some physics changes and they altered all the cars default settings to accommodate the new physics. The install is quite demanding because of this.  Another option you could consider is using the consoles 'Backup' function. It's effectively like creating a restore point on a PC.You copy your PS3's HDD content to an external drive (that includes game data as well as save data)So let's say you get to v1.09 successfully.Downloaded, installed, and game is playing as it should.File size for v1.10 is over 2GB.Perhaps you might consider backing up the HDD before going any further with the updates.Saves you starting from v1.00 again should something go wrong downloaidn or installing the big file. Anyway, just a thought. Here's a post I did about it earlier if you are interested in trying it.http://community.eu.playstation.com/t5/Gran-Turismo/Gran-Turismo-6-installation-error-80029564/m-p/22651880/highlight/true#M159948  Hopefull there's something in this post that you'll find useful. If I'm off-target or you have other questions let me know. Otherwise best of luck with it and hopefully things run smoother for you next time you try.

  • Several times a month, when I go to open Firefox, it says "wait installing new updates". After they are installed, Firefox won't open, it says "page not found." I have to then reload Firefox. How can I stop these updates?

Before Firefox open the little window opens saying"wait installing new updates." Then after when opening Firefox, my home page says "can't find this page. I have plugged in the address: http://www.google.com/firefox?client=firefox-a&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:official and it Firefox still won't open. I have to run the Firefox setup 3.6.3 on my desktop, to get Firefox to open on my home page. I would like to stop these automatic Updates from running; how?

Unfortunately I tried that and it didn't work. Thanks for the help though. I tried to uninstall and it said I couldn't because the file is corrupt or something, but I think I finally got it uninstalled and/or deleted or whatever, but now I try to reinstall/download it again from the beginning and I can't. No matter what I do I can not get Firefox working again. No matter how many times I try to redownload it. Any other suggestions?

  • More than 50 MB sized applications are grayed out with status of "Waiting/Installing", when we update those apps from WiFi Connection?

    Hi,
Few application updates are available in iOS App store. However, Those applications are grayed out with status of "Waiting/Installing", when we update those apps from WiFi Connection. It's happening only for more than 50 MB sized applications. Unable to install those application through WiFi, However, it's successfully installed through MacBook Pro iTunes application. Please suggest me, why this happening suddenly.
    Thanks in Advance,
    Suresh Balakrishnan.

    - If I make the deployment required, it will install right away regarless of maintenance windows.  However, i don't want to use this option because if the user logs in to other machine (e.g. boardroom computer), it will auto install this software.
Re-check your deployment, specially the user experience:
If you've checked the box next to "Software installation", it will install after the deadline has passed and ignores maintenance windows. Change the deployment to required and uncheck that box and the software should be installed according to your
    maintenance windows.

  • App install stuck between waiting/installing

    Hi All,
iPad3 (Retina) with 3G (64gb), I tried to install an app and it got stuck on waiting, after investigating I'd found it was because my iTunes account had an expired card on it so I've fixed that.
The app is currently on my 09 MBP ready to sync. When I tick the app and sync it, it says 'installing' and the blue bar works its way across, then it goes back to "installing" with the blue bar blank.
I untick it and it won't remove it, it just sits at "Waiting".
    ** Things I've tried **
    - Add/Remove the app via Sync
    - Sign in/out of iTunes
    - Hard reset
    - Settings > Reset > All
    - Sign out of iTunes, Airplane On, Reboot, Airplane Off, Sign in.
I'm out of options short of a full factory restore which seems extreme for one tiny app.
    Any help would be appriciated.

    Try a System Reset:
Hold down the on/off switch and the Home button simultaneously until you see the Apple logo. Ignore the "Slide to power off" text if it appears.
A System Reset does not remove any apps, music, movies, etc. nor does it cause any settings to revert back to default.
Also, you might wish to download the iPad-2 User Guide. Pay special attention to page 162. Note that this Guide also applies to the iPad-1 with IOS 4.3 except for those functions that are not supported by the hardware.

Finally, the User Guide can be downloaded at no charge via iBooks and a less comprehensive version of the Guide is included as a Safari bookmark.

  • Iphoto will not open since upgrading to OS X 10.10

upgraded to yosemite on my iMac and now i can not open iPhoto to do downoads

upgraded to yosemite on my iMac and now i can not open iPhoto to do downoads
All previous iPhoto versions are incompatible with Yosemite. You need to update iPhoto to version 9.6.
Which iPhoto version are you currently using?
Launch the AppStore, sign in with your AppleID, and look at the Updates tab. If there is an update waiting, install it.
If you cannot update, for some reason, try to buy iPhoto. If you are lucky, it may show for free.
Backup your iPhoto library, if you do not have a current backup.
Uninstall iPhoto by deleting it from the Applications folder, but do not empty the Trash, so you can put iPhoto back, if need be.
Launch the App Store, click the "Store" menu, and sign in with your current AppleID.
Open the main page "Featured" of the App Store and search for iPhoto.
If iPhoto is listed as "Free", click the "Free" button to buy it with your current AppleID.
If it is not showing as free, there is no help but contacting the App Store Support to sort out the AppleID. Use this link: http://www.apple.com/support/mac/app-store/contact/

How can I recover these saved emails???

It was like I was starting Thunderbird for the first time. Created the new accounts, although it did pull all the account information over. Just upset that it didn't warn me to back up everything. Had several important emails sitting in my inbox. Went to open Thunderbird and got the message of "Please wait, installing updates". When it opened everything was gone......

  • KDE and plasma 5

Hello everyone, since Plasma 5.0 and Frameworks 5.0 are out, I wonder if Arch is going to smoothly upgrade the KDE package or if it's going to require a clean install or something more advanced. I don't want to rush into the new version installing kf5, kf5-aids and plasma-desktop (as suggest the wiki) without knowing everything is going to be fine, so I ask:
Would it be better to wait, install the packages the wiki suggest or do a clean install? What do you think? Thank you.

Plasma 5 packages in AUR are installed in /opt for now so they are coinstallable with KDE4. At some point it the future I guess it will move to /usr and will replace KDE4, but for now you can install and try it while keeping KDE4 installed at the same time.

  • Having trouble reinstalling OSX on mid-2007 MacBook

I just recently had an issue with, after several years of waiting, installing the update to Snow Leopard on my MacBook.  During the upgrade my hard drive decided that it was time to die, and just quit...  I've since bought and upgraded to a 320GB HDD, and now I am having trouble installing OSX onto the new HDD.  I, unfortunately, do not have use of the original SuperDrive because it died about two years ago; so I am instead using an external drive.  I can boot the system up from the disk, and it does get to the system check, but it just says that OSX can not be installed on this machine.  I can use disk utility to check for issues, which it has none, and COULD do just about anything else, but now when it tries to boot from the disc I just get a large circle with a cross through it.  Not a picture of a folder, but just a circle with a cross through it.  Can anyone help me out here?  Or point me to somewhere that can help fix the issue?

Sorry for the confusion, but it wasn't Permissions I wanted you to Verify, but the Install Disc itself...
    "Try Disk Utility
    1. Insert the Mac OS X Install disc that came with your computer, then restart the computer while holding the C key.
    2. When your computer finishes starting up from the disc, choose Disk Utility from the Installer menu. (In Mac OS X 10.4 or later, you must select your language first.)
*Important: Do not click Continue in the first screen of the Installer. If you do, you must restart from the disc again to access Disk Utility.*
    3. Highlight the Install Disc on the left, then below on the left side you should see Verify Disk, (Verify/Repair Permissions is to the right, and not what we want), if the Install Disk checks out we can eliminate one thing.

  • Macbook back up

    Hi,
I am using CCC for back up without problems!Mackbook Core 2.
I have OSX 10.4.9 and I just bought Leopard.
I will wait installing it but I want to use Boot Camp for XP.
I know I will have to make a partition for that and all.
I am not sure how the back up process will work after that.
Do I have to use CCC for every partition separately? It will work for the whole "picture"?
Is there a back up program that can do the whole system at once?
I think I red something like this on the net for a while ago...
    Thanks
    D

I wouldn't think you can back up more than one partition. I'd suggest reinstall Windows after you've cloned and updated to Leopard. There are apps that will clone Windows partitions for mac...

I think to avoid problems though, especially with the introduction of a new OS, you should reinstall XP with Bootcamp via Leopard.

  • Can't run Snow Leopard from CD drive

I just bought a second hand mac pro 5,1 (mid 2010) with no hard drives and no installation CDs.
I bought a 120GB Samsung EVO SSD. I am waiting on an IcyDock to connect the SSD to hard drive bay 1.
In the meantime I'm using an extention sata cable to connect the SSD to the motherboard (HDD bay 1) and powering it via a power adapter to sata power.
I've formatted the SSD using my 2008 iMac to extended (journaled).
I've inserted my Snow Leopard disc (that I bought years ago) into the optical drive restarted the mac holding c to boot from CD.
I hear the disc spinning, the white background with gray apple logo appear but nothing happens. The disc stops spinning. Background stays.
    Am I doing anything wrong?
Does the macpro side door have to be closed?
I've contacted apple about needing the original installer discs and they said I could just buy Snow Leopard and use that. I already own it.
Another symptom: If I unattach the SSD and restart the mac holding the mouse button on, the DVD drive doesn't open. It only opens with the SSD attached.

    While you're waiting:
Install Snow Leopard into a new partition on your 2008 iMac.
    Upgrade it to 10.6.8.
    Clone it.
Restore your clone to your SSD for your MacPro.
Install the SSD into your MacPro.
    Boot it up!

  • 10.2.0.4patchset for hpux

Is there a patchset available for 10.2.0.4 Oracle DB for HPUx PA64?
In April2008 CPU instructions it said 10.2.0.4 database is released and will include this CPU.
Just wondering if i need to apply cpu and the upgrade the DB or just upgrade which will cover me up for the CPU.
    Thanks
    San

10.2.0.4 for HP-UX (in fact for no HP platform) isn't yet available. When it is released, it will contain APRIL 2008 CPU. If you don't want to wait, install this CPU now.

  • HT1342 so how do i know if i need more ram? (upgrade from snow- mt. lion)

Here is the mac that i have. I want to upgrade from snow l. to mt, lion when it comes out. articles are saying that i will need 4gb even though the updae page says 2gb. how do i read the activity monitor to see if i need more ram for the update? or do i just need to wait, install teh update, and then check? I want to get this all done in the next month so help would be great!

2 GBs is the minimum required. 4 GBs or more would be better. Your model supports up to 8 GBs.

Understanding top output in the Terminal
The amount of available RAM for applications is the sum of Free RAM and Inactive RAM. This will change as applications are opened and closed or change from active to inactive status. The Swap figure represents an estimate of the total amount of swap space required for VM if used, but does not necessarily indicate the actual size of the existing swap file. If you are really in need of more RAM that would be indicated by how frequently the system uses VM. If you open the Terminal and run the top command at the prompt you will find information reported on Pageins () and Pageouts (). Pageouts () is the important figure. If the value in the parentheses is 0 (zero) then OS X is not making instantaneous use of VM which means you have adequate physical RAM for the system with the applications you have loaded. If the figure in parentheses is running positive and your hard drive is constantly being used (thrashing) then you need more physical RAM.
Adding RAM only makes it possible to run more programs concurrently.  It doesn't speed up the computer nor make games run faster.  What it can do is prevent the system from having to use disk-based VM when it runs out of RAM because you are trying to run too many applications concurrently or using applications that are extremely RAM dependent.  It will improve the performance of applications that run mostly in RAM or when loading programs.

  • Can't download apps from Apple app store

When a user goes to download an app the app just sits at waiting/installing. Eventually it times out.  When I grep the access logs it shows the ipad bouncing from one apple server to another.   If I give the ipad a static ip address that goes around the ironport the app will install so I am pretty certain the problem on the WSA.  We have a S670 running a version of 7.7.

Ok so I opened a TAC case and all they could do is confirm it wasn't my wireless controller. I did however find out what was plaguing my network and hopefully this will help someone else. I found that there was a Mac OS X cache server on my network. For details on this see, http://www.nbalonso.com/os-x-server-caching/ Basically it registers with apple using our public IP and then any apple device on our network that try to download from apple from that same IP apple then points it back to the cache server on our network. The problem was that there were no routes back to that cache server as it was in someones lab. I was able to track down the server using a packet capture on my ASA to find out which device on my network was trying to reach lcdn-registration.apple.com/lcdn/register you can do an nslookup to see what the IP is, i don't know if it changes. Once I had the cache servers IP address I was able to trace the mac address back to the source and shutdown his network port. iOS downloads are now able to work again. The main problem was that iTunes, Mac, and even iOS 7 would try this but time out and then go download from apple anyways, iOS 8 however would never do get past looking for the cache server and the download would never start. Like I said I hope this helps someone else out there, apple implementation of a cache server is very poorly designed in my opinion if it can lead to this type of disruptive behavior.

Hi, I don't know who to turn to: the person who handles all the compter stuff is out of town, This A.M.I started up Firefox and there was a message re an update, I thoght I new just to click on install and wait to re start Firefox. But what I can remember is that another window opened and asked me to choose 'something' (an icon or banner or?), I thought I must click something (I guess I should read all clearly). Firefox did update to 3.6.4, but it also inserted some sort of what might be called a banner? But it only partly covers the right one- half of my 3 toolbars at the top of the Firefox window. It can't be used for anything as it is just a mess of colors and unknowns, except what looks like a 'top' and what I recognize as a Firefox icon (but only partly visible)!! Now, what it does do is partly hide that whole portion of the toolbars and they are hard to read and in turn make this 'thing' impossible to figure out, if I would care to? I can't find anyway to remove it or use it?? But since the Firefox icon is on it, I guess you should know what it is and how to trash it. I am sorry for this occurrence caused my my carelessness, but I'm not much of a computer person ----HELP! Thank you for any help. Judi
