Hi -
Bad news.
As per note 418755.1
A. Confirm checkpoint retention. Periodically, the mining process checkpoints itself for quicker restart. These checkpoints are maintained in the SYSAUX tablespace by default. The capture parameter, checkpoint_retention_time, controls the amount of checkpoint data retained by moving the FIRST_SCN of the capture process forward. The FIRST_SCN is the lowest possible scn available for capturing changes. When the checkpoint_retention_time is exceeded (default = 60 days), the FIRST_SCN is moved and the Streams metadata tables previous to this scn (FIRST_SCN) can be purged and space in the SYSAUX tablespace reclaimed. To alter the checkpoint_retention_time, use the DBMS_CAPTURE_ADM.ALTER_CAPTURE procedure.
Check if the archived redologfile it is requesting is about 60 days old. You need all archived redologs from the requested logfile onwards; if any are missing then you are out of luck. It doesnt matter that there have been mined and captured already; capture still needs these files for a restart. It has always been like this and IMHO is a significant limitation for streams.
If you cannot recover the logfiles, then you will need to rebuild the captiure process and ensure that any gap in data captures has been resynced manually using tags tofix the data.

Hung on "Waiting for dictionary redo: first scn"
Hi I'm on Oracle 10.2.0.4 with the following Streams setup with databases in brackets: [capture process -> capture queue -> propagation] -> [apply queue -> apply process].
The capture was running but is now stuck on "waiting for dictionary redo: first scn 12345". What caused the capture to initially pause was the target database was brought down for a week which caused the propagation on the source to become disabled after it couldn't connect anymore. I stopped/started the capture and propagation on the source once the target database was brought back online.
All of the archived log files back to the log file containing the dictionary build and specified SCN have been restored to the original archive destination directory on the source database server. I've tried stopping and starting the capture after restoring the archived log files, but it remains in the same status. The first 40 out of roughly 700 archived log files are currently registered in DBA_REGISTERED_ARCHIVED_LOG.
Do all of the archived log files need to be registered before Streams capture will start scanning/capturing again from the beginning? Or if not, what else might be needed to get the capture moving once again?
Thanks for any help. For what it's worth, I was able to get the capture to start capture changes again.
What I had to do was...
1. stop the existing capture process
2. record the necessary first/captured SCN values for recreating the capture process (queues were empty)
3. drop the existing capture process while preserving the rule set
4. recreate the capture process with the existing rule set and appropriate first & start SCN values
5. manually register all archived logfiles, including the one with the dictionary build/first SCN and up
6. start the new capture process
I still have no idea what the issue was to begin with. -

Capture WAITING FOR DICTIONARY REDO: FILE
Hi Experts,
Based on a large transaction, source A1 database archive action was auto switch for redlog files.
After this event, we destination A2 DB capture get a state---WAITING FOR DICTIONARY REDO: FILE G:\ORACLE\ORADATA\VMSDBSEA\ARCHIVE\ARC10201_0639211808.001.
we use bi-direction stream at oracle10GR4 in 32 bit windoe 2003.
I think that is a capture problem in A2 only. last weekend, stream stop capture process due low SGA.
I restart A2 capture thsi morning.
What do I need to do? just add a new first SCN or register redo file?
Please help me in detail.
I find this case at http://stanford.edu/dept/itss/docs/oracle/10g/server.101/b10727/capture.htm#1006565
1. A capture process is configured to capture changes to tables.
2. A database administrator stops the capture process. When the capture process is stopped, it records the SCN of the change it was currently capturing.
3. User applications continue to make changes to the tables while the capture process is stopped.
4. The capture process is restarted three hours after it was stopped.
However, I do not see how to set new SCN for restart capture.
Thanks,
Jim

i am not still able to make out even after the archivelogs are registered they are not done logmining by logminer.
Can you please help ,i am stuck up this situation.i have rebuild streams by completely removing the stream configuration and also dropped and recreated the strmadmin.Perhaps I missed it in your post but I didn't see a version number or any information as to what form of Streams was implemented or how.
There are step-by-step instructions for debugging Streams applications at metalink. I would suggest you find the directions for your version and follow them. -
Ndless waiting on 'Waiting for Dictionary Redo'
Hi All,
Thanks for all your help and sharing knowledge.
We have bi-directional replication using streams and now we have moved one database to another server.Everything else remains the same.
Capture Process is endllessly waiting for dictionary Redo file :....
We also have copied all archive files and registered. Please help.
Thanks
Kind Regards
RahulWhat is the GLOBAL_NAME and the database link name?. Do they match?. If not, follow any one of the steps below.
1. Change to the GLOBAL_NAME on the source database to map with the database link created on the downstream database.
Or
2. Create a database link at the downstream database with the same name as the GLOBAL_NAME of the source database. -
CDC..waiting for dictionary redo
sry may be this question has been asked before. but I still find my stream doesnt work properly...
I try to implement Online autolog CDC where souce DB and staging DB on different computer. but when I run this SQL
select capture_name, state, total_messages_captured
from v$streams_capture
where capture_name like '%EMP_DEPT%'
CAPTURE_NAME
STATE TOTAL_MESSAGES_CAPTURED
CDC$C_EMP_DEPT_SET
WAITING FOR DICTIONARY REDO 0
I've tried some solution as suggested in http://www.business-intelligence-quotient.com/?p=14 but it still doesnt work
1st : drop my change source,I get first_scn from my source DB and try to remake change source in staging DB
2nd : make sure that I just make 1 change source for my source DB.
3rd : I run this SQL
exec procedure dbms_capture_adm.prepare_table_instantiation.
in my staging DB..but when I run it to source DB theres some error appear
4th : I run this SQL
SELECT consumer_name, name
FROM DBA_REGISTERED_ARCHIVED_LOG
WHERE dictionary_begin = 'YES'
no rows selected
in my opinion, DBA_REGISTERED_ARCHIVED_LOG should be filled automatically..any suggest?thax before.sorry for my bad english

1. is you streams config global_names compliant, at source and destination?
2. Have you configured the log_archive_config parameter at source and destination?
3. If these are correct, are the logfiles shipping to the correct location on the destination server?
4. If so, can you manually register a logfile using ALTER DATABASE REGISTER LOGICAL LOGFILE '<complete file name>' FOR '<capture name>' ?

Hi Experts,
My capture abort with memory issue. After fixed issue, I restart capture and get state as
WAITING FOR DICTIONARY REDO: FILE G:\ORACLE\ORADATA\SALE\ARCHIVE\ARC23250_0621282506.001
I can see ARC23250_0621282506.001 in file system.
I use oracle 10G( 10.0.2.04 ) in 32 bit window 2003 server. this is one way stream.
How to fix this problem?
Thanks

WAITING FOR DICTIONARY REDO: FILE
Hi all ,
I am getting WAITING FOR DICTIONARY REDO: FILE NAME state
SELECT STATE FROM V$STREAMS_CAPTURE ;
I tried to resolve it and found that some redo log file is missing.
Can anybody please let me know what could be the cause of missing redo log file?
If the cause for this is that some redo log file is not registered then how would i register it ?
I already have queried the DBA_REGISTERED_ARCHIVED_LOG and DBA_CAPTURE data dictionary views and i am getting some rows.
Thanks to all.
Regards
NickHello Nick,
What you would need to check is find out if there is any archived log sequence missing in DBA_REGISTERED_ARCHIVED_LOG. If you find any archived log sequence is missing then you can register against the capture logminer session using:
CONNECT / AS SYSDBA
ALTER DATABASE REGISTER LOGICAL LOGFILE '<complete file name>' FOR '<capture name>';
Thanks,

Hi,
quick question:
The LNS wait for LGWR redo is the first event in my top 5 events and i would love to solve this issues and reduce the time
LNS wait for LGWR redo 5,631,165 39,623 7 27.3
DB is 10.1.0.5
OS: Linux X86-64
DataGaurd DB.
setting the log_archive_dest_s is SERVICE=DB_NAME LGWR ASYNC=20480 NOAFFIRM REOPEN=30
i am thinking to increase from 20480 to double or should i add more redo log file.
what do you think the best solution.
ThanksHi,
You are assuming that this wait event is problematic, which is not necessarily true.
Explanation: The particular wait event is normal when you are using LGWR ASYNC. If you are using this transport, the ASYNC LNS process waits in a loop (relinquishes the CPU in the loop) waiting for more redo from the LGWR. If your system is idle, the LGWR is not producing any redo. In this case, the ASYNC LNS process is bascially idle - the time seen in this event
is essentially an indication of that.
Every sleep we have to add to relinquish the CPU had to be accounted for in a wait event, and there was no way to get around this other than by creating a new waitevent. There was a time when we could specify 0 for the wait event class (meaning don't care), but that class was not available in 10.1 onwards.
The new async model in 10.2 has addressed this issue and will not show under top wait events.
So , There is no action is required and it is normal as it is an indication of ASYNC LNS process being idle. This does not cause any impact on the database.
As you state you are on 10.1.0.5 and therefore encountering this behaviour, and as per above, no action is required.

Logical standby stuck waiting for dictionary logs
Hello,
I created a logical standby (v. 10.2.0.3). It is in state 'WAITING FOR DICTIONARY LOGS', for a few days now.
Does anyone know how to get past this? It looks like the log that contained the Logminer Dictionary was applied
already.
Thanks in advance for any insight you can provide.Make sure the archivelogs are reaching the standby. Check your alert logs on both databases to confirm there is no archival problem.

Top Event: LNS wait for LGWR redo
CONFIGURATION: 10.1.0.5.0 with DataGuard On RedHat.
We often find the wait event called "LNS wait for LGWR redo" into the "Top 5 Timed Events" section of the AWR report.
I'm unable to find a complete descrition of this event.
Can I minimize this kind of wait?I cannot find the exact wait name into the note.
The most similar is:
"LNS wait on LGWR"
This wait event monitors the amount of time spent by the network server
waiting to receive messages on KSR channels from the log writer (LGWR)
process.

Bought Premier Elements 13 yesterday. EVERY time I try to open a set of clips with Editor, I am told I have to sign into my Adobe first. I do this and wait for several minutes for the password dialogue box to open, enter my password. then wait and wait until my pw is recognized. Accept agreement. Agreement screen disappears and I'm back where I started. Try to open video clips with editor again and get the same demand to log in. Please advise asap. thx

Please do not duplicate a thread. The threads are answered as soon as possible. We are not Adobe. Just user to user.
I have answered your most recent of the duplicates
Premier Elements 13 Organizer Works. Editor doesn't. Log in doesn't work
It is uncertain just how far we can go to help you since you do not appear to have Premiere Elements any
longer.Seems you demanded a refund from Adobe Chat, got it, and now are left with a non purchased program which I
am not sure can be used.
Duplicates tend to confuse the person asking the question as well as those attempting to reply. As I suggested in the
above mentioned thread, try to sort out your situation with Adobe via its Adobe Chat.
