Waiting for Mountain Lion to download; download icon appears in dashboard, but nothing is happening. No launch, etc., appears on screen. My IMac already has o.s. 10.6.8 and plenty of space, etc. I have paid for tel. support ($19), waiting 2 hrs!

This, after listing a 2-minute wait on line (after I paid, of course!!) I have a cast number and wonder if/when Apple will actually come through! Any quicker help from you! Thanks!

I just downloaded the newest update for mountain lion. After downloading any restarting for installation, I got a message stating that the update cannot be installed due to an error. Yet when I check I have version 10..8.3 and safari version 6.0.3, which the update was for. Does this mean that the update is iinstalled and the message was incorrect?

Good timing! Oh well, at least you shouldn't have to update again for a while. It will be nice kickstarting your Mac with the very latest System Update knowing any hiccups from 10.8.2 would have been ironed out if they were going to affect your workflow at all.

Be sure you backup your files to an external drive or second internal drive because the following procedure will remove everything from the hard drive.
Boot to the Recovery HD:
Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND and R keys until the menu screen appears. Alternatively, restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager screen appears. Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.
Erase the hard drive:
Select Disk Utility from the main menu and click on the Continue button.
After DU loads select your startup volume (usually Macintosh HD) from the left side list. Click on the Erase tab in the DU main window.
Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Click on the Erase button and wait until the process has completed.
Quit DU and return to the main menu.
Reinstall Lion: Select Reinstall Lion/Mountain Lion and click on the Install button.
Note: You will need an active Internet connection. I suggest using Ethernet if possible because it is three times faster than wireless. -
When i put in the 10.5 disk to download, nothing happens. It recognizes that there is a disk in there but it doesn't do anything about it.

1. Insert OS X Installer Disc into the optical drive.
2. Restart the computer.

I am reading that there are problems in Java 7 for Mountain Lion.
I am not able to open any youtube or ASIC video clips. It says "blocked plug in" then has a black screen
Do I download Java JDK 7 then do I download the update JDK 7u11?

Seems like Apple are not supporting this and not offering any alternatives.
The salesman on line at Apple assured me that there would not be any problems or concerns in running Mountain Lion from 10.6.8 and I find youtube doesnt work

Tried to install maverick but app store had 1 update for mountain lion so I installed it.it didn't restarted so I did n then it started installing mountain lion.
I had 1 update for mountain lion so I did it said restart required but I got stuck in the middle of the process n yhen it said install mountain lion again.

You simply added the email account to your phone and enabled calendar and notes syncing with the email provider, and the calendar and notes appear in the calendar and notes apps on your phone. You can do this with Gmail, Yahoo and other IMAP account. iCloud email is just another IMAP account, but syncs notes with Apple's iCloud server just as Gmail syncs notes and calendars with Google's server.
iCloud didnt' set up a non-iCloud account on your Mac. When you check Mail in System Preferences>iCloud, it only creates an iCloud email account. You can also add other email accounts to your Mac by going to System Preferences>Mail,Contacts,Calendars and clicking on the "+" sign on the bottom of the left sidebar. If you added these other email accounts to your Mac before you upgraded to Mountain Lion, these were simply maintained on your Mac after you upgraded. -

Most apps where in-app purchases are available have an option named somthing similar to "Restore in-app purchases" which might solve your problem for at least some games.

I currently have Snow Leopard and upgraded RAM to 4GB on an older iMac Core Duo in order to use iCloud features in Lion. Also, I'm wanting to upgrade iMovie and iPhoto, but I'm having difficulty finding a download link that will let me do it online without going through the App Store, and it says I need to be running 10.7. I feel like I'm in an "obsolete" double bind until I upgrade to Mountain Lion and it isn't possible yet. I'm wanting to use iMovie 8 or higher in order to download AVCHD video. I just bought a new camera that shoots AVCHD and I can't download any HD video, nor can I find any of my old video which used to be on iPhoto and would open w/ Quick Time. User friendly Mac is no longer so intuitive.
Yes, you can purchase Lion as well as iPhoto and iMovie from the App Store. But before you can do that you must update Snow Leopard to 10.6.8 by installing the Mac OS X 10.6.8 Update Combo v1.1 update. Then you can sign into the App Store with your Apple ID and password, locate the items you want, purchase them, and download them to your computer.

i have snow leopard, 10.6.8 on my mac pro. would it make sense to wait for mountain lion in the summer vice upgrading to Lion then mountaion lion?
Nobody can tell you that. We don't yet know what the pricing will be or what kind of compatibility issues may arise. If you don't need anything in Lion right now, you can certainly wait, and if you do find the features of Lion compelling, there's no reason to wait for 6 months. Buy what you need when you need it, and don't worry so much about what's ahead... there's always something new coming soon!

I have installed mountain lion on my early 2009 macbook (not unibody) and it is terrible, it's like owning a windows pc again (almost) What can I do? I paid for mountain lion, is there any way of giving it back and getting a refund? obvisoulsy after unintalling it. I couldn't see any reason why it would be bad for my particular macbook, and it downloaded without a problem.

If that does not suit you, you will have to discuss a refund with Apple, as they are the only ones who can say. Note that the App Store terms do say that all sales are final, so you are not guaranteed a refund, especially since whatever problems you had are not due to defective software. -

i have paid for mountain lion and it says it is dowloading ....but nothing seems to be happening? it is a macbook 6,1 (4 years old?) and is currently running OS X 10.6.8
It's a 4+ GB file. It takes some time if you have a slow Internet connection. You may have lost connection with the server. Try pausing the download for a few second then restarting.

There are no keys, there is no trial version of OSX (ML or Mavericks) and Mavericks is free

Mail application is still there. All of my emails and folders are gone since iCloud. How can I get them back using Snow Leopard? Or can I? Do I have to wait for Mountain Lion?

Click Preferences
Click the 'Accounts' tab
Make sure your iCloud account is highlighted in the column on the left.
In the account information section what does it say next to:
Incoming Mail Server?
Outgoing Mail Server?
Also, did you use MobileMe before the iCloud?
