Waiting for th writer why?
I am trying to burn DVD using Toast 10.It worked OK abut 2 months ago but now you get the statement "waiting for the writer".After about 5 minutes it spits out the blank disk. Nothing gets written. I have tried 2 different brands of blanks and several blanks out of each package. no difference. Any thoughts?

I tried a cleaner CD, no help. It would play a DVD movie ok. Didn't try to burn a CDI Then I tried Diskwarrior. Now it works perfectly. I swear, Diskwarrior could cure a rainey day!!

the docs explains that "Wait for Log Writer", Indicates how often it was necessary to wait for a log entry to be written.
then what steps i must follow to reduce this?

when the log Io queue is full all user tasks who want to insert entries into the log io queue have to wait until the log entries of the queue have been written to the log volume - they are wiating for LOG Writer
First you should check the size of the LOG_IO_QUEUE Parameter.
Think about increaseing the parameter value.
Second will be to check the time for write I/O to the log -> use DB-Analyzer and activate time measurement via x_cons <DBNAME> time enable command.
Then you will get time for write I/O on the log in the DB-Analyzer log files (expert)

It could indicate that the disks are not compatible. Have you changed brands recently?

All acquisitions wait for digital trigger, why?
On one computer I have 2 eseries 6023 daq boards installed. One for a digital triggered acquisition, and the other for a continuous (chart recorder type) acq. When running the two seperate VI's, why does the the cont. acq. VI wait for the trigger on the other VI? Appreciate any help.

AI Read.vi waits until the samples are in the buffer.
Do following: Call AI Read.vi with 0 scans to read. Look in scan backlog output if any samples are available. If there are samples waiting call AI Read.vi with this output contected to the input scans to read otherwise do nothing.
This prevents AI Read.vi from waiting until samples are in the buffer.

The table T1 is partitioned across 10 tablespaces. The test consist to take
these tablespace read-only and perform the procedure, and analyze the results,
like erros.
but when I perform the procedure, The alert.log indicates the error
ORA-00060: deadlock detected while waiting for resource.
Why this occurs only the tablespaces are read-only?

1) Settings > Privacy > Location Services > On

Why does Lightroom 4.3 use very high cpu when waiting for user to click OK?
I saved metadata for 52 photos.
Lightroom 4.3 couldn't save metadata for 2 of the photos and opened a window to tell me so. (It had no problem saving metadata on second attempt.)
While it waited for my response and wasn't doing any work, it was using over 50% of my CPU.
Why?

I have enough experience with LR to know what to expect for various activities.
Previews for all photos had been rendered long before I initiated the Save Metadata.
Metadata for 50 of the 52 files had already been written.
The high cpu had gone on for at least 5 minutes. I switched to another app imediately after initiating the Save Metadata for the 52 files and only went back to LR when I heard my CPU fan running for a long time.
When I got back to LR, I saw the "Could not save metadata" window. I clicked "Show in Library" and OK. As soon as I did that, CPU usage went back to normal.
I've experienced the exact same scenario, where LR can't save metadata for all photos and I've never had LR get stuck consuming a very large amount of CPU.
As a test, I selected 118 other photos, changed metadata for all of them and then selected all and saved metadata. LR took about 20 seconds to save metadata for all 118 and LR CPU usage never went above 17%. The difference is that LR did not show the "Could not save metadata" window. -
Why does File Explorer Seem to Wait for End-to-End Confirmation?
For quite a few versions now, when copying large blocks of files from place to place it seems like Explorer adds an arbitrary delay or maybe waits for confirmation internally that every file has been actually written to the disk before continuing.
On a modern computer with plenty of RAM for cache and a massively powerful SSD-based I/O system (capable of sustaining gigabytes per second of throughput),
why should we ever wait for a copy of a few hundred megabytes of files? Theoretically it should complete in a second or two.
In fact, back on XP one could observe exactly the behavior I'm describing - file transfers - especially on hard disk but even over the network - would proceed at a very breakneck pace.
Yet it's not uncommon to see miniscule transfer speeds while copying groups of files that even the oldest, cheapest hard drive could sustain...
What's the setting to have Explorer stop waiting and just get on with the copy, filling the cache with the data to be written later? Some of us don't want to wait that extra minute to get the job done. I know whomever programmed the cutesy
little graph wants to make sure we all see it, but...

You can check for problems with the sessionstore.js and sessionstore.bak files in the Firefox Profile Folder that store session data.
Delete the sessionstore.js file and possible sessionstore-##.js files with a number and sessionstore.bak in the Firefox Profile Folder.

Deleting sessionstore.js will cause App Tabs and Tab Groups and open and closed (undo) tabs to get lost, so you will have to create them again (make a note or bookmark them).

Create a new profile as a test to check if your current profile is causing the problems.
