Hi,
Try to clean up your browser's cache (msie: tools > options > ...) and oracle jinitiator's jcache directory (c:\proghram files\oracle\jinit ... ). Close your browser and try again.

  • Window "Developer Forms Runtime-Web". Help me, please.

I have instaled Developer Server 6.0 (Unix).
When I'm runing my application in the browser of PC (jinitiator 1.1.7.18), apears the window "Developer Forms Runtime-Web".
Is it possible that this window no display?

I am not positive that I know what you are refering to but I think you are talking about the splash screen that comes up before you see your form. You can suppress this screen by setting the splashScreen parameter in you html file to NO. i.e. Assuming you are using IE, <PARAM NAME="splashScreen" VALUE="no">.

  • Run or display the output in Oracle developer form runtime web

    Hi guys,
I have installed oracle forms10g in windows 7. im using firefox v.2. when i run the form, the Oracle developer form runtime web is not opening. the output is display in the mozilla firefox itself.
but how to run or display the output in Oracle developer form runtime web?
    Thanks in advance

What's the problem? What do you mean with the form, the Oracle developer form runtime web is not opening and the output is display in the mozilla firefox itself?
Is the Form open or not? If you see you form, where ever, then the "runtime" is running!
Is it displays within the browser window? But you expected it in an own window?
If that's the case you have to set separateFrame = TRUE in fomsweb.cfg.

  • Developer Forms Runtime window

When i run a form in the web with jinitiator 1.1.7.18 it apears a window (Developer Forms Runtime - Web) in the screen. Inside this window appears my form but i dont4t see all my form. Is posible to hide the runtime window or maximize my own form window?

Well that is not a big problem.
    use the code below
    SET_WINDOW_PROPERTY(FORMS_MDI_WINDOW,TITLE,Your Title');
i think this will solve your problem.

  • Forms Runtime-Web in java screen. Help me, Please

I have instaled Developer Server 6.0 in Unix and Jinitiator 1.1.7.18 in PC.
My page html has parameter: separateFrame value=true, because I want my application run outside of browser in PC. Then my application apears inside of java screen.
Is it possible that java screen no display?
    Thanks.

Why are you using an undocumented and sun proprietary resource bundle? You do want to get a list of all countries? Change your code to use your own properties file with all countries, not some proprietary stuff. That's asking for trouble in portability, as you've encountered now.

  • Forms runtime just hangs on startup

When I try to run any form, a blank "Oracle Developer Forms Runtime" window comes up and then nothing else happens. The same thing happens consistently if I try to run from a server with JInitiator 1.3.1.13 (or apparently any server) or with local OC4J instance using JInitiator 1.3.1.9. Other users can run the same forms from the same server(s). The problem started suddenly with no system updates that I know of between working and not working states. OS and browser: XP And Explorer with SP2 (but Forms behaves the same way if I try Netscape 7). Any Ideas...?

Forms Applet version is : 9.0.4.0

    What happens if you run
    http://<server name removed>:7777/forms90/f90servlet
Does the test form show?It behaves in exactly the same way: no form shown and Java Console doesn't show anything past that "Forms Applet version". I know that I haven't changed anything in my local Forms Developer/OC4J environment since it was working. I tried removing JInitiator(s) and having them reinstall automatically by trying to run a form and the download and installation worked flawlessly but it didn't help with the problem. I suspect that something in my Windows system is blocking JInitiator but what could it be?

The reason for this is that it is unsupported as yet, we have
not certified on W2000 as the product is not released.
ODS checks for the installed O/S in the registry, there is no
    way round this.

  • [b]How can i connect with database(oracle 9i) from form developer at runtim

    Hi Friends,
My problem is as follows, please show me a way.
Let's asume, I have form (developed in 6i) which has database data block. Now, at form level a have assigned on_logon trigger and I have written the following PL/SQL statement in that trigger:
    begin
    null;
    end;
So, when I run this form without connecting to database It does not prompt for a connection. Now I have button lebeled as "Connect" in this form, when user will click on it it will display a window having text boxes to enter user name, password and database name; once the user fill those text boxes and click on a button lebeled as "Ok" then the form runtime environment should be connected with database as per information provided by user. Here to mention that the user already been created, only the connection will be stablished. For example: I want to connect the form with database as "scott/tiger@oradata9i".
To do this, what PL/SQL command statement should i write in that "OK" button's "when_button_pressed" trigger?
If any of you know about this please help me.

    Hi
I've answered this question already. If I understand you right, you can use 'LOGON' built-in of Forms. Take a look into documentation.

    Hi Gurprit,
A null value is being passed at runtime. Make sure that you enter values when filling in the form.
Also check for the cardinality of the nodes being used. You can also initiliaze your value attributes as follows:
    In wdDoInit() method:
    wdContext.currentNodeAElement.setValueA("");
    Context is as follows:
    RootNode
      |____NodeA
            |_____ValueA
    Hope it helps.

  • Problems with Adobe PDF forms in Web Dynpro Java

As of now , I have two major issues in developing Adobe PDF forms in Web Dynpro Java .
1.Text getting wrapped and repeated from the first line :
Any text field that flows to the next page gets wrapped at the end of the page and is again printed on the next page beginning from the first line .
    For eg:
If I have 4 lines in a text field that is at the end of the page
    1111111111111111111111
    2222222222222222222222
    3333333333333333333333
    4444444444444444444444
and the page holds space for only two lines it prints the lines
    1111111111111111111111
    2222222222222222222222
in the first page and then proceeds to the next page and prints
    1111111111111111111111
    2222222222222222222222
    rather than printing
    3333333333333333333333
    4444444444444444444444
2.No way to hide a page at runtime:
It is not possible to hide a page in a PDF form at runtime . If scripting is used , the page turns into a blank page but not hidden .
    Any pointers on this????????
Helpful answers will be suitably rewarded with points!!!!

Yes,I am using the versions that you mentioned.
I have a node called <b>MasterData</b> which is the root node for my PDF Form.I have a node called <b>GenData</b> inside this node whose <b>ctx_Appraisal_Type_Num</b> attribute is bound to a hidden TextField in my form.In the <b>docReady</b> event of this TextField, I am writing the following FormCalc script to hide my SubForm whose Id is <b>MngrCmptnc</b>
    if(MasterData.GenData.ctx_Appraisal_Type_Num == "2")
    then
    MasterData.MngrCmptnc.presence = "visible"
    MasterData.MngrCmptnc.MngrCmptnc.presence = "visible"
    MasterData.StrImp.presence = "visible"
    else
    MasterData.MngrCmptnc.presence = "hidden"
    MasterData.MngrCmptnc.MngrCmptnc.presence = "hidden"
    MasterData.StrImp.presence = "hidden"
    endif

  • Forms runtime as cartridge?

In a document from July 1997 from Oracle called "Developer/2000
and the NCA: An Architectural Overview", authors Mark Doran et
al, the future direction of the Forms Runtime was stated to be:
In a release after 2.0, the Forms Runtime will be implemented
as a cartridge. The Web Application Server will invoke a
Forms cartrige directly to run a Forms application, elim-
inating the ned for a separate Listener process and Runtime
processes. In this configuration, the Forms cartridge will
be able to exploit all of the functionality of the Web
    Application Server, including Inter-Cartridge Exchange
    (ICX) and dynamic load balancing.
Initially, each instance of the Cartridge will handle a single
connected user, just as the Forms Runtime does today, but
in later versions a single cartridge will be able to serve
multiple simultaneous users for even greater scalability.
    I have two questions:
    a) is this still the intended direction of the Forms Runtime?
(I couldn't find this repeated in later documents)
    b) if so, which release will/does have this feature?
I have scoured all the promotional documentation for OAS 4.0
and Developer 6.0 looking for an answer, but could not find
    any.
The reasons I care are that 1) our client will continue to grow,
and the scalability improvement is interesting, and 2) if
you can use Inter-Cartridge Exchange to (I think) access
real CORBA objects which live in a custom-built application
cartridge that lives in OAS 4.0. From Forms, you have to
use Forms-specific syntax to access functions, and you
    can't access objects directly.
    null

    I agree.
I've tested my application using Dev2.1 to find out that each
user was going to take up around 10M.
We have a user base of about 300, but usually theres only about
    80 users on during our busiest time. 80Users * 10M = 800M.
Thats not even counting the memeory needed for the reports
    server.
But to be fair OAS load balancing did cut down on apps which
    were inactive.
But this still leaves me with the prospect of at least a 512M
apps server. Which might be incredibly slow during peak times.
So I started looking towards the OAS4.0 release which had this
promised shared cartridge architecture. But it looks as if we
are going to have to upgrade to Dev6.0 to use this cartridge

    What happened to Dev2.1?
I received the Dev6.0 beta CD, and was imressed by OAS4.0.
Should we just skip the Dev2.1 / OAS3.0 or are there going to be
further releases of Dev2.x supporting OAS4.0?

It is good that the Forms are developped for Forms 5. The first step is install Forms 6i and Reports
6i. After that simply compile the forms. They will run without modifications on 6i. Nevertheless may
be small surprises will arrise, but they are not major and soon you will have workung system in 6i.
Now you have to enter in another world. You have to switch from 2 tier architechture to 4 tier one.
But this is not so hard. I did this in November 2000 and 3-4 developers in the world succeed to do the
    same following the instruction.
At first you have to download the 2 more important Oracle documents from the OTN:"Deploying Forms Applications
to the WEB with Forms server Release 6i", "Publishing Reports". Read them carefully. After that decide
which WEB Server will you use. You can use full functions WEB servers (OAS 9i, other) or only for your
Forms you can simply download from the Forms Server 6i CD the WebDB listener which will act as limited
WEB Server. I use the last option.
The next step is to install Forms Server 6i (possibly with WEBDB listener). After that make visible
on the Internet/Intranet the computer on which the Web listener is installed (with Forms server).
Now you have the adjust the settings of your machine. Follow the instruction in the above mentioned
documents. Everything is well described. After adjustment the settings you have to create your "Unternet
access paths". This will be done in the config file of your listener. You have to map the virtual to
the physical directories. This is the souce of most mistakes. Spo I wiil give an example:
    In the URL call: http://bigbluenew.drila.us/dev60cgi/ifcgi60.exe?config=hris
    /dev60cgi/ is virtual directory.
The mappings to the phisical one are stored as part of the text file webdsvr.cfg:
    [DirMaps]
    D:\Forms_Home\tools\web60\html\ /dev60html/
    D:\Forms_Home\webdb\images /images/
    D:\Forms_Home\forms60\java /forms60java/
    D:\Forms_Home\forms60\java /form60code/
    D:\Forms_Home\jinit817 /jinitiator/
    D:\Forms_Home\tools\web60\temp /dev60temp/
    D:\Forms_Home\Forms60\web_reps\ /web_reps/
    D:\Forms_Home\forms60\java\oracle\ewt\laf\generic\images /f60image/
    [CGIDirMaps]
    D:\Forms_Home\tools\web60\cgi\ /dev60cgi/
    D:\Forms_Home\tools\web60\cgi\ /cgi-bin/
The most common mistake causes the entry
    D:\Forms_Home\forms60\java /forms60java/
This is the first steps you have to do. Alla are described in the both documents above.
Now you have to think about the client site - the WEB browser. Oracle runs forms on browsers using an
applet - Java programm running on the browser. This is very disapointing - the details will be given
in the third message. To improve things from the very beginning download the Jinitiator from Forms site
in the OTN - the latest version 1.1.8.10. It is fixed! Other have bugs. More bugs than this one :)!!!
Now you have to prepare pshycologically to speak with boses and users. The problem is the significant
loading time for every browser. At first run the browser will download about 10MB software (the Jinitiator
software). After that every time one call forms has to wait 15-40 seconds (comparisons of version the
jar files with the version on the server, loading images, etc.) The good news is they are cached on
the browser. After this delay deliver to your users a functiuonality that is significant better then
that one delivered by pure HTML and Java, the transfer of packets is lower, the whole Windows GUI functionality
    is abailable.
All problems here are caused because now you will run the Forms in 4 tier architecture:
web browser <-> web listener <-> forms server <-> Oracle server
Also your forms will use a slower connection media - Internet/Intranet. To be well prepared read the
discussion I post in the third me ssage.
There are plenty of working forms applications on the web, but they aren't for public use. Companies
use web forms as a way to let employees use the apps off-site. For these people, the overhead is not
so great. Also, the math for the system load is not so brutal - A dual processor Unix box with 2GB of
memory can handle about 200-400 simulataneous users. More than that and the system crawls to a stop.
Not a good thing for a public site.
If you want to deploy an Oracle-based app on the web for a wide audience, use a standard tool - JSP's,
    ColdFusion, ASP's or the like.

    Friends,
Let us speak about Forms on WEB. I just set in "production" the "Personell system" of my company. It
is available only on Intranet, you cant use it. but the conclusions are interesting.
The main conclusion is: it works. The overhead exists (too much loading time at the beginning of the
sesion). Another disadvantages: record navigation in multirecord blocks is confusing - very often the
form looses the control over the navigation with mouse clicks. So I put the standard button "Next record"
on the toolbar and recommend to use it. Also there are difficulties with iconic buttons - the images
are not available, but I know what to do.
But there are big advantages. First at all the users have the whole Windows functionality in a WEB apllication
    - mouse clicks, tabs, multiwindows, the advanced Oracle Forms access to the Oracle DB. This is not the
limited WEB page application, slow, stupid (from DB view of point of course). Also I would like to say
that I succeed to make the application very fast and easy. My colleagues who make WEB apps using HTML
and Java need as rule 5-6 men team to do the same. Of course it was not easy to learn how to deal with
Forms Server and with Reports Server. So Forms really is a RAD.
As Mr. Alexander said Forms of the WEB are used in the so called "Back Office" implementations - for
supporting the infrastructure of big enterprises. They are not approprite for random user access - the
    overhead is to big.
The next advantage of Forms on the WEB is that you escape the Forms Client instalation on every user
station. You avoid to declare a remote directory with .fmx, to share the username/password/host with
user. The only thing you do is to publish the URL. This is a big advantage.
About the overhead. In "old" environment (DB listener, Forms Server in the Forms Toolkit) the application
really runs slow 9at the beginning of the sesion). But I sow apps based on iOAS9i and the integrated
there Forms Server. They were fantastic fast (the overhead was 5 secs in comparison with the 40 secs
    on my computer).
I think that Oracle is doing the best to improve the functionality of Forms server. So now there are
some disadvanteges of this technology, but I optimistically hope that in the next version there will
    be enhancements.

Joseph is right and I would like to add
    two things :
    - Although there is some overhead in starting
Forms Server (let's say 20-40 seconds) the
usage is much faster than any HTML
application. Try to create in ASP a dynamic
page to query a table in tabular form with
page navigation (one of many examples).
While Forms needs 2 network packets, HTML
needs 15 (obvious because the data we see
is only a small part of the page, the rest
    are tags, formatting information, scripts,
etc). This comparison was made with the
same table, showing the same columns and
with the same records/page. WEB Forms seems
slow but in fact is faster than HTML
because the GUI frame runs on the client.
    - In one occasion there was an international
competition to create a WEB application
    for product catalog (reports, queries,
    maintenances, drawings, etc). While with
Forms we took 1 week (1 developer) the
fastest competitor took 3+ months (3
    developers)! And worst, the user
    functionality regarding complex queries and
reporting was far better in Forms than
the competitor's tool (I am not going to
give names). Perhaps this was a matter of
training but Forms is really fast to
    develop database applications. If
    productivity, simplicity, database
    performance, data integrity and user
functionality is not important don't use
    Forms.
Once more, Forms was not projected for public
    sites where multimedia content and
presentation is required. It was projected
    for authenticated database applications,
to handle and present data and to reduce
    development and maintenance time.
Now I hope you have enough knowledge to begin to embed your forms on the WEB. It is easy, but you have
    to obtain some new knowledge.

thanks joseph. will try it and let you know at the earliest.

  • Forms runtime executable ifrun90.exe

I am running Oracle forms 9i on windows 2000.
I can deploy the forms on a browser
I want to be able to run the form under windows.
Document says to use the executable IFRUN90.EXE
    I cannot find this executable.
I have done a COMPLETE installation of Oracle Application Developer.
    Any suggestions ?

The document is wrong, there is no Forms runtime in 9i - it is only
    running in web.
If you need to design for c/s, you have to use Forms 6i.
