Wake On Lan With 845PE Max3

I have A Msi 845PE Max2 Motherboard with on board Gigabit LAN.
In the BIOS I can't find a "wake on lan" setting. My question is if it's possible to use this wake on lan utility. How can I configur my wake on lan under Windows XP
The second question is how I can send a magic pakkage to boot the remote machine.
Or perhaps the MSI 845PE Max2 doesn't support wake on lan? X(

Try wake on PME.
Is a general wake on PCI card demand, specific wake on LAN/modem isn't needed.
I have no idea baout the packets.

It worked nicely until I recently had to reinstall my server (following a disk replacement). Since then systemd fails to activate wake on lan.

My guess is that the service does not start at the correct timing at boot.
I have also tried wol-systemd package from the AUR without success.

After a fiew tries and reading docs, I found that replacing network.target with multi-user.target in [email protected] seems to work for me.

MSI K8N Neo2 Platinum (WAKE On Lan with Realtek)?

Hello can the MSI K8N Neo2 Platinum (BIOS 1.B) WAKE On Lan with the Realtek card?
It does not appear to work for me and there is nothing in the BIOS.
My WOL packets wake up other PC's.

Go into Bios Setup, Integrated Periphals, and disable the nvidia Lan, but let the Onboard LAN enabled.
Now go to PCI Configuration, Wakeup Events, and enable wakeup on PCI event and wake on LAN.
Check in Boot Order Menu if you can select the realtek onboard Lan as first booting device, push it in first place.
Another Option could be using the nvidia Lan, its reported to work with wakeon lan.

Can I use Wake-On-LAN with P1606dn Printer?

I have a P1606dn laser printer which is remotely located and the power is remotely switched.
When it is first powered up, the button on the front has to be pressed to cajole the printer into life . It lights up green and we are good to go. After this, even if it has dropped into power saving mode, sending a print commnad wakes it up and network printing works fine.
However, I want to do away with the walk to press the button when it is first powered up. I've tried using a Wake-On-LAN command to the IP and MAC addess of the printer, but nothing happens.
I realise I could leave it permananetly powered but don't want to do this because there are other devices on the same supply that need to be turned off at night.
How can I get it to wake up remotely?

Whenever power is first applied to the P1606dn, that has been in a no-power state, the unit is turned Off. The unit's power light may be on, but the unit itself is off. Whenever you press the button, then the unit goes through the power up and obtains the IP address to function.

Wake-over-LAN with WRT54GX2

I'd like to wake up my computer over the internet, so I'm trying to use the Wake-on-LAN feature.
I can get it to work when waking from the local network....but I can't over the internet. I've read that I need to forward the right port to 192.168.1.255, but I can't forward to that address.
Is there anything I can do?

hoping someone can help me here, as I want to accomplish WOL in my workplace. I'm in a building that has a central router that divides the internet into 4 different offices (into jacks in the wall). The central router is a linksys befsr41 that I don't have access to because it belongs to the property manager. The central router's ip address is 192.168.1.1 This router is not wireless, but I need wireless in my office, so I have my wrt54gc in my office to use with my tablet pc. I've gotten my computer to wake up no problem over LAN at home, over WAN at home (from remote location), but when I'm at my office (2 routers chained together) I don't know what I need to do to get it to work consistently. So my questions are: 1. What settings, if any, do i need to change on the central router? Do I need to port forward to the IP of MY router (or my CPU)?? 2. Same question for my router? I've looked all over the net and can't find any info on what to do for WOL in a multiple router environment such as mine. I guess I need to somehow tell that magic packet thingy to go through the central router, then through my router, and recognize my MAC address and ip. I really appreciate help in this matter.

Wake on lan with Iphone.

Hi, I installed a wake on lan feature on my MBP from apples homepage and likewise I installed the iWOL app on my iphone. However I cannot get it to work. At home I use Airport express connected wirelessly to the MBP and likewise with the Iphone. Do I have to configure the airport express or something? Or does anyone have a step by step guide on how to set it up?

its right , router has to be connected to Ethernet port.
ary you trying to wake your Mac on your local network ( meaning when you are conected to your router through wi fi directly ?) that is not to difficult to achieve . little tricky bit is if you want to wake your Mac
from remote location from your iphone , well literality from anywhere . it can be done but not all routers will allow you to do that . but it can be done with right router . plus there's quite a bit needs to be changed in correct router's configuration. but good thing is if you really want that to happen there is a possibility .
for my needs its essential . i use iwol and SleepOver apps. both of them do same thing but first i got iwol
and only could wake my MP locally . then i tried SleepOver app and i achieved both Local Wake up and over internet too . again both can achieve same things but i wouldn't have done it without good support and recomendations of SleepOver's developer .
so if you get it working either of them IWOL or SleepOver is a fantastic combination with Jaadu VNC and File Magnet apps . you can wake your Mac from say Paris in London then use Jaadu VNC app to browse your remote Mac as if you were sitting in front of you Mac at home the open other end of File Magnet from within Jaadu VNC which is installed on your mac and drag and drop file you want to have on your iphone . then you open File Magnet on your iphone and there they are! file you wanted .

Wake on LAN with Actiontech MI424wr Router

I posted this by mistake in the DSL forum, sorry.
. I've set up Wake on LAN for the purpose of powering up a media server that handles all my video and picture files. I have it working fine within my LAN but I've run into a problem when I use it from outside, meaning the internet or my cellular network. The Actiontech MI424WR router does not let me port forward the broadcast address so I worked around this issue by creating a static entry in the ARP table that passes the "Magic packet" to the broadcast MAC of FF:FF:FF:FF:FF:FF. See http://www.dslreports.com/faq/16041 for the details.
This technique works fine but unfortunately, the ARP entry will not survive a router reboot or power down. From what information I've been able to find, it may be possible to create a startup script in the router that will re-create the ARP entry upon bootup. I've contacted Actiontech but they said I needed to speak to Verizon support. I contacted Verizon support and they gave me a number for the Verizon Expert Care Team. I'm kinda smelling a runaround so I figured I'd post the question here before I made any more calls.
If you read that link I posted, theres an interesting alternative using a second router and changing that router's MAC address to all "F"s but not many routers will allow you to do that, at least not the two I have. Anyway, if someone knows how to create a startup script or has an alternate solution, I'd be most interested in seeing it. Thanks in advance.

Just change the IP, username and password. Save this file to filename.vbs and Schedule a trigger (Daily Task, on PC startup) to run this script and you should be good to go

Keyboard-WAKE/BOOT-UP with 845PE Max2 (v2.0) ??

Maybe you got this question before, but:
Is it NOT possible to start/boot this motherboard by using the keyboard??
I have not seen any options in the BIOS (flashed to the latest v3.1)... however - there's an option to use the keyboard to wake-up from the S3-state (stand-by)... but that's not really useful for me!
I want to power-on the machine by using the keyboard and/or mouse only!!! (The PSU handles 2A on the 5VSB trail)
I thought this was standard on most motherboards nowadays but I can't really see this on the MSI 845PE Max2...
Have I missed something out? (Is this a BIOS issue only? The realtime-clock-power-on the system works just fine - so I suppose the keyboard feature could be implemented fairly easy??)

Gosh, I've tried it! S3 state is not an option!!! (but S1 is?)
What I want is simply this (one scenario of many):
* plug in the power to the psu/computer
* turn the damn thing on using the keyboard!
(that's because I'm using a fine logitech cordless keyboard and I'm just so cool :] I don't want/need to pressing the "power-on" button on the computer case!)
Gosh, I've done this on the MSI (k7n420) and the ASUS motherboards for years...
Well, guess I've to talk to MSI... (wish me luck...)

Wake on Lan works with Ethernet, not over Wi-Fi.

Hello, after several months of tests I came to this conclusion.
Wake on Lan only works with Ethernet for my iMac. Wake on Lan over Wi-Fi works for a few hours, but if the iMac is asleep for 6 hours or so, it becomes unavailable... On the other hand, with Ethernet it's always available even if it sleeps for an entire week.
My iMac isn't that old (mi-2011), so I guess it should handle Wake on Lan over Wi-Fi. Is it a software issue?
- I've got a MacBook Pro since Snow Leopard 10.6 and now with Mountain Lion it handles Wake on Lan over Wi-Fi without problem.
- I've got my iMac since Lion. Does the iMac only handle Wake on Lan with Ethernet and works differently compared to the MacBook Pro?
I prefer to use Wake on Lan over Wi-Fi because for the tests I've placed my iMac in the living room in order to plug it to the Time Capsule, but the right place for my iMac is in my bedroom.

Note that "Wake on Lan" is checked in my System Preferences, I don't think it's my router's fault, because my Apple TV, AirPort Express, iPhone 5, iPad 2 and my Printer don't disconnect even when they're asleep (I'm talking about my printer and Apple TV in that case).

I understand that, but if your router is not an Apple AirPort Base Station then it introduces an element of uncertainty. Apple has implemented many changes related to wireless networking recently.

C445 and wake on lan

Is it possible to use wake on lan with a C445 all in one PC? Normally this is enabled in the Bios but this unit doesn't seem to use a bios.

Welcome to the Forums.
The Ideacentre C445 does use a BIOS and you can access it by pressing F1 on power up.
It's possible to use the Wake-On-LAN (WOL) feature of this unit as long as it meets the following requirements:
1. WOL must be enabled in the BIOS (this model has one)
- Link to picture
2. WOL must enabled in the LAN card
- I'm unable to verify this as there's no available C445 here in the lab.

SCCM 2012- Wake on LAN

Has anyone tested Wake On LAN with SCCM 2012? I am getting error 0x80072741 in wolcmgr.log. Any help is much appreciated.

Hi, here is the snipped from the wolcmgr.log. Also another update, now during our testing we can see that if the machine is in Sleep mode, they wake up at the time specified. However they don't wake up when they are in Hibernate mode.
Even though the machines are waking up, but we still get the same errors in WOLCMGR.LOG. Not sure if we can ignore them or if they are something to worry about.
Any help will be highly appreciated!

Wake on LAN (airport extreme?)

Can i even get my mac to wake on lan with my airport extreme? I have been trying for days and can't seem to wake my mac remotely. I am sending magic packets from:

Is there a better tool? I would prefer a platform independent one if anyone knows
I am behind a DGL-4300 router. Is there a router adjustment I should make that i have missed? I have port nine forwarded to my computer. A virtual server is also setup for my IP address. I can send and retrieve files NP when my mac is awake. If only I could wake it up!!

If you Mac is sleeping, the wireless connection is down. There is no way for the Mac to receive any packets including the wake on LAN.

SG300 with 802.1x and wake on lan

Hi,
Depends on the authentication. If you have mac or login authentication there is no traffic allowed neither direction before successful authentication. However you may use Guest VLAN concept for WOL packets. With web portal authentication some traffic is allowed but as far I as know it is only arp, bootp so again maybe Guest vlan concept would be the solution.

Help with Wake on Lan Settings needed

Wake on Lan recognises all 5 airports, my cube, powerbook ibook and macbook but not my new macmini. Has anyone else had this problem with the macmini and found a solution?

Wake on Lan has just been updated to version 0.9. Now it works with leopard.
