Wake sleep button sticks

My wake/sleep button sticks on my Ipad 2. I often have have to tap it several times to get it to respond. Sometimes it doesn't work at all and I have to shut off the IPad. I have tried a complete reinstall of the software, and the problem persists. Anyone have any ideas?

If the button doesn't work at all, how are you able to shut the iPad off? The sleep/wake button IS the power button.
If you have restored the iPad and that didn't help, it is probably a hardware problem. Take your iPad to an Apple Store and have a Genius take a look at it.

Is there an "APPLE STORE" in India or you just went in a reseller store?
There is a replacement program for sleep/wake button for free. Just look for an Apple Store and make a reservation at Genius Bar.
I have an iPhone 5, bought in Dubai U.A.E.
It is a US model (model A1428) which is different of the model use here in Italy/Europe
My serial number is qualified for battery replacement program.
I thought the Apple Store wouldn't repair my phone because I bought it from another country , a different model and it is already out of warranty.
The Apple store's staff just checked if my iPhone's serial number is eligible for the program and he replaced the battery for free today.

Restore the phone as New, and do not reload your backup. If you still have a problem with it you have a hardware problem.

There is no apple logo on the screen when i holding home and wake/sleep button for more than 15 seconds. I am trying to connect the phone to my laptop, however, there is no reaction on iphone or on laptop.
Can anyone help me with that?

Sometimes the reset can take 20 seconds or longer. How long have you held it? I would just hold it until you see the logo. Is the battery charged? If the battery has had a chance to discharge, you will have to plug the phone in to charge. If it gets to a point, it may turn on by itself. I would use the main charger for this. Also, if this method doesn't work, and it is not being recognized by the computer you may need to make an appointment with the Genius Bar as there could be a hardware defect causing this problem.

FYI, you don't really need to turn it off. I think mine's been on for more than a year now.

I have updated the software, but I had this problem immediately before that upgrade. The wake/sleep button doesn't work...most of the time. At the moment I have a blank screen. If I press the button on the top I can see my screen. When I unlock I immediately see my inbox. I can read email, but I can't press the button to get back to the main menu. I've tried restarting. I tried holding the button down for six seconds. I tried, unsuccessfully, to hold down the on/off button and the wake button at the same time...nothing happened. I did go into settings and reset the general settings. I haven't gone to far as to delete all settings and data. I also haven't deleted any content, although my conent is pretty minimal. Thanks for any help.

I haven't yet tried restoring....just resetting.
Itunes is on laptop at home, so I am waiting until tonight to give that a try.

Iphone 5 Wake/Sleep button is not working and the phone 5 is not getting unlock (the slide to unlock is not getting swiped).
The phone is in warranty and was purchased from US. Apple is denying to provide any kind of support as they say that the Iphone has opened eventhough it has not been opened.
I must say that the quality of apple has been going down & down after Steve Jobs demise.

Thanks for your query.
If the sleep wake button on your iPhone is unresponsive, first try and reset all setting by going to Settings>General>Reset>Reset All Settings.
If this does not resolve the problem, I would sound more like a hardware based issue.
I would recommend that you contact AppleCare so they can run further tests and diagnostics to help you solve your solution better.
If you can also access an Apple Store Genius Bar or Apple Authorized Service Center, that would be much better.

Hey, my iPad's safari is frozen...however, when I try to hold the "wake/sleep" button waiting for the "red-slider" to appear nothing happens. Any suggestions??

This involves the sleep button but it just might work so try it.

Wake sleep button makes search screen appear. Pls help!

pressing the sleep wake button makes my search screen appear. tried to press home/sleep wake but no luck. reconfigured as new ipad: no luck.

IPod Nano 6th Gen - Functional but white screen on pressing wake/sleep button

I have an iPod Nano 6th Gen (out of warranty & applecare) - hasn't been dropped etc & never had any trouble.
This morning I got the white screen after unplugging it from charging.
I have tried hard reboot (power button + vol down). I have put it into disc mode (hard reboot + both volume buttons) and restored it to factory settings from itunes (10.6.3) . I've even put it into diagnostic mode and looked around to see if there were any tests I could do.
Functionally the ipod works ok - plays music, volume changes, and it will shuffle on shaking/ play pause on double pressing the power button.
The problem is when I switch off the screen by pressing the power button once - if I try to switch the screen on again I only get the white screen (although this doesn't affect music playing etc).
The way to get around this is either doing a hard reboot (which is a pain as it removes all my settings) or by switching off the ipod, waiting 5 minutes, then switching it on again (this preserves my settings). If I switch off the ipod and try to switch it back on within 5 mins, it's straight to the white screen.
The only other odd thing I noticed was that the screen was shaky/jolty and graphics not quite lining up etc, but this only lasted 10s and went once I started playing music...
Any ideas as to what is causing this? I'm guessing maybe a hardware problem but it seems strange that there is no white screen on switching on, just from waking.
It was a present from my dad and I'm very fond of it so would like to keep it/fix it if possible!
