Wake up from suspend

Hi.
I have a MSI k7n2 delta ILSR with AMD 2500+ and 512 megs of RAM.
The wake up after suspend is working fine when I use an XP installed with my old motherboard (soltek), I just simly change the mainboard. Then I reinstall the Xp with the newest nForce drivers, and the wake up is not work. Why? All the rest of config was the same!
There is some hidden option in XP? Or what?
Best Regards: Timpi

Hi,
Actually, If I'm reading you right you should really have really done a new XP install on your new motherboard!
Make sure the settings in Control Panel> Power Options are set correctly. It may also be a good idea to run through your board's BIOS settings too! Refer to your manual for relevant details!

  • [SOLVED] Something automatically wakes PC from suspend to RAM

    Hello,
for the last two days my desktop PC automatically and instantaneously wakes from suspend-to-RAM when I try to put it to sleep. I found https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=135543 and tried the script that solved the problem for the OP with no success.
Some info that might be relevant:
    I have not made any hardware changes to my computer lately;
The only devices connected to my computer are the display (DVI) my TV (HDMI) and a mouse and keyboard and a router.
    I use the stock Arch kernel and update regularly from a synced mirror in Norway;
    I suspend my computer with
    dbus-send --system --print-reply --dest="org.freedesktop.UPower" \
    /org/freedesktop/UPower org.freedesktop.UPower.Suspend
All wake-up events like PCIe, mouse and keyboard are disabled in BIOS.
Does anybody experience these problems lately, or know if this is a known issue//bug?

I'll try changing some BIOS settings, thanks As of now, I can't test your suggestion regarding input devices and wake-up because it takes less then a second for the computer to auto-wake-up
Also, I doubt the keyboard sets this off, because the scripts unloads all USB modules before suspending. But the mouse (a PS/2) on the other hand...
EDIT: I found out that it was the network waking the computer After stopping the network daemon before suspending, I can suspend normally! On a side note, I can wake the computer by pressing a key on my keyboard, but I do not know whether I could before or not. Anyways, this is solved for me

  • X121e randomly wake up from suspended status and real time clock error

    Hi all
Previously I considered my x121e suffer from overheating issue and causes real time clock error (RTC). However, after more testing and investigation, I believe the problem is related to other hardware issues and I like to hear people opinion before sending the laptop back to Lenovo.
The machine goes into suspend status either pressing the power button or closing the lid from Windows7 (clean install) without problem. However, it would wake up itself randomly, "beep" twice and screen shows RTC and CMOS checksum error. This happen more often when I am holding the machine (i.e. some movement/vibration). I wonder:
    - Is it the RTC battery problem, cause the RTC to wake up the machine?
    - Other hardware failure?
The laptop has a clean OS installed/recovered. Latest 1.16 Bios installed. No USB or memory card attached. Ram replaced and not the cause.
    Please advise
    Howard

    Hello,
I am unsure; you would have to contact Lenovo directly and find out how they handle this situation.  They may want the ThinkPad X121e back so they can run thorough diagnostics on it, just in case the problem is something else.  That way it gets fixed the first time.

  • Wake up from suspend using keyboard

    Hi!
I've installed Arch 64 on my LG Tarsia. So far everything works, I've just noted an interesting difference compared to XP.
If I suspend in XP, I can wake the computer using any key. Suspending from Linux I can only wake the computer using the power button? Subjectively, suspending on Linux also takes longer.
Did I miss something? I'm using pm-utils, suspend is triggered with pm-suspend.
    Cheers,
    Michael

I found a reference describing the sleep states and their possibilities:
    http://acpi.sourceforge.net/documentation/sleep.html
Interestingly, the /proc/acpi/sleep interface provides more options (S0,S3,S4,S5) than /sys/power/state (mem, disk).
    Cheers!

  • X121e - Black screen after wake up from suspend to RAM

I am the owner of a ThinkPad X121e - Notebook Type 3051-5QG (AMD E350 Processor). After a BIOS - Update from 1.07 to 1.16 I have a problem to wake it up from the S3 - Suspend to RAM function.
The Notebook restarts and the fan is working but there is no beep and the screen stays black. There is no way to get it working except a complete hard shutdown pushing the on/off-Button.
Does anybody know the problem and has a solution? Or do I have to wait and hope for the next BIOS-Version to solve the problem? I would like to downgrade to 1.07 BIOS, but I am afraid that this is not possible.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

Since 2012-12-02 Lenovo has published an new Bios-Version 1.17 .
I installed the update today and the problem is gone. I hope there is no new bug in this Bios-Version, but up to now everything seems to work properly.

  • Computer does not wake up from suspend

    Hi,
    Lenovo 3000 V100 0763 - Windows Vista Business.
I have a very annoying problem:
putting the computer to sleep , or when closing the lid for sleep (the moon icon lits up)
and waking it after 10-15 seconds is ok.
But more than that , even for a couple of minutes the computer simply will not wake up , everything seem to load ok , but the screen stays black , and the computer is not responding , than I have to lose all my job and press 5 seconds on the off button to get it shutdown and than booted from scratch.
It happens on any installation of Vista, clean or Lenovo's original.
It happens on Windows XP too
I have tried to completely uninstall and reinstall the video driver , it will not help
The computer has the latest Bios , and the latest Lenovo drivers (which are mostly 2007 though)
Any expert help will be much appreciated. I am out of ideas.
Simply not feasable that a laptop will not be able to do such an elementary option :-(

Suggestion .. setup your signature .. Os & what your computer has on it .. It helps the solution..kinda like mine .. never too much info.
When the screen goes black, and touchpad has no life, Click "Fn" and then move your finger around on the touchpad ..  works for me ..try that before you lightly press the power button ..
Right click the desktop, select properties, screen saver,  power, select  laptop, change the settings .. plugged - top left .. 30min, 1 hr, 3 hrs, 4 hrs hiber .. top right - on batts .. 10 min, 45 min, 2 hrs, 3 hrs hiber.. try my settings .. see if that works ..
Set a system restore before you start messing .. I turned stuff off  stuff using .. start .. run .. type in msconfig, select start up tab, click off some you think might be ok to try .. kinda pot luck .. there might be some better postings ..after you reboot don't click save on changes untill you know things are working..
Re-imaging .. works good .. just backup what you want because it's gone afterwards.. if you send it in especially .. back it up!
    Good Luck..

  • Wake up from suspend to ram *twice*

    Hello!
I am running arch on my Asus M51Vr laptop. Whenever I suspend to RAM and try to resume (i.e. hit a key), the laptop wakes up (sometimes without even locking the screen), and after 3-5 seconds it goes back to sleep; if I hit a key again, it will wake up with the screen locked (as configured) and then proceed normally.
This issue appeared some time ago after an update (was not there after installing arch). I am not sure where to start with the search for a fix, could you please help me?
    Thank you!

I actually do have that script:

  • FIXed:T400 Lenovo can not log in when wake up from suspend or sleep time FIXed ( but not sure 100%)

Hi everyone who is having this isse,
I got this issue for months, I spent alot of time to search for the solutions, I found a lot of here but can not fix my issue, I think you did, too.
but today, when I decided to remove all of the FingerPrint softwares, you guys please notice that, when the Fingerprint software is disabled, your login windows will become normal as windows XP style. If it apprears in your system, the log in windows can be looked different.
When I removed all of that software, I restart and problem has gone. But I am not sure 100% that it is the problem or not. May be we should report to LENOVO or IBM that they can upgrade the driver for Fingerprint or fix the bug in the fingerprint software.
Please try this then let me know the result.
    Thanks.

I forgot to let you know about how was the issue:
    - When we leave the laptop for about 45 minutes or more than that, and we wake it up, the windows showed the "this computer is being locked by <account> only that account or Administrator can unlock" etc...
    - Then we press Ctrl + Alt + Delete, and then nothing happens, only a blue screen without anything, the only way that we have to do is hold the power button until the laptop is off then back on.
and I fixed that problem via uninstalling all of the Fingerprint softwares. I hope that LENOVO or IBM can upgrade the software and fix that bug.

  • Keyboard not recognized when waking up from suspend

    Hello people,
    I have a HP Pavilion 11-n030ar x360 laptop (http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c04439109).
Every time the laptop wakes up from suspend, the keyboard isn't responsive anymore (even after waiting more than 10 minutes) so when I am using i3 I must hard shutdown which is really annoying.
I rebooted 3 times in a row and the keyboard wouldn't be recognized (despite that the keyboard was responsive at the grub menu, because I dual boot with Windows).
Here's the output of dmesg at waking up:

I hope to diagnose the problem so that I can fix it, but from the dmesg message, it's not clear to me what's wrong.
    Any help is appreciated, thanks!

I just started having the same problem on my desktop. Nothing in the logs that I can find, just Suspending system...  and that's it.
I don't think the keyboard is working at all, I would at least be able to reboot in the dark, not to mention Caps/Num lock lights won't come on either.
Mine started after I went from 3.13.5 > 3.13.6, but I also upgraded nvidia (331 > 334) and systemd (208-210) in the same -Syu, amongst others.

  • Failure to wake up from disk suspended hybernation

    Hello everybody,
when running my MacBook Pro (8,2) is so low on battery that it suspends to disk before poweroutage, it fails to wake up correctly. What happens is this:
Battery running low, suspension to disk runs, MacBook Pro is sleeping. Battery indicator on the left side links when pressed.
After attaching power cord, MacBook Pro wakes up fine, asks for my password (FileVault2 is running).
Then the bar on the bottom of the screen shows up, indicating that it reads the hybernation suspension file.
This progress always goes to the last but one part of the bar. Then it stops and the chime is heard that I only know from my Mac if it can not start up because of a hardware test failure (like wrong RAM installed).
Then I have to force it to turn off by pressing the power button 5 seconds.
After that, it starts normally, and all apps that have been running before the battery when out, are restored.
pmset -g just after such an incident (with power cord attached) will give these informations:
    Active Profiles:
    Battery Power           -1
    AC Power                 -1*
    Currently in use:

Any suggestion on how to fix this is much appreciated.

It's an external one. USB. I started thinking maybe if I disable usb from suspending it might actually work. How do I disable usb from suspending? Or any other ideas?
    Cheers!

  • K8N Neo-FSR CPU fan at full throttle after wake up from S3 (Suspend to RAM)

    Hi,
using either Core Center or BIOS' smart cpu fan control my cpu fan throttles down to less than 2000 RPM without system load. Fine! But after wake up from S3 (Suspend to RAM) power down the cpu fan runs forever at full throttle with about >5000 RPM, making lots of noise. So far I didn't succeed neither with BIOS settings nor using Core Center to gain fan control after S3 wake up. Since Core Center apparently shows up the cpu temperature correctly with less than 40 degrees Celsius this may be a BIOS 1.4 bug.
Can someone please point me into the right direction? Yep, I did read the FAQ and already use board's search function :-)
    Falo

    addendum
did some further testing. Apparently this doesn't happen if I wait at least a couple of minutes between shutdown to S3 and wake up. In this case fan control works as expected afterwards.

  • Hangs up on wake from suspend

    Hi,
I am using arch with 3.15.8-1-ck kernel and my laptop does not resumes after i suspend it to the ram. When i put it to suspend, it suspends successfully and light on POWER-ON-OFF button starts blinking but when i resume it, it shows up the lock screen but mouse and keyboard does not works and the typing cursor also does not blinks.I tried opening tty's but they too are not opening up.
I have already installed pm-utils and here is the log file of pm-suspend : pm-suspend.log.
Moreover I have Lenovo Z510 laptop with KDE and graphic driver installed is x86-video-intel.
Pls help me regarding this issue.
    Regards
    Ashish Bansal

I'm having the same issue: my laptop hangs after resuming from suspend. After lots of debugging, I found that ifplugd is the culprit to me.
    Steps to reproduce:
    1. Unplug my power and ethernet cable.
    2. Suspend my system
    3. Plug in my power and ethernet cable.
    4. Turn on the laptop.
Result: The system hangs. After about 15 seconds, the fan starts spinning like crazy.
I have tried any combination of (un)plugging power and netwerk cables, and the hang only occurs in the situation that is described above. I have also run all tests with and without ifplugd, which confirms that the issue is really related to ifplugd.
I have experienced this issue for months, and my current kernel is 3.15.8-1-ARCH.
To solve the problem, either make sure that you don't trigger the above conditions (i.e. don't unplug before suspend or don't plug in cables before resuming) or remove ifplugd using
    sudo pacman -R ifplugd

  • Office 2013 - Word cannot establish a connection with this document after the system resumed from suspend mode

    Hiya!
This issue has been answered numerous times for Office 2010 and Office 2007, but I have yet to any solutions or Hotfixes that work for Office 2013 (x64) on Win7.
    How to replicate the issue:
Open a file from a network share.
    Edit file.
Leave computer on with file open. Computer goes to sleep or into stand-by mode.
    Wait a bit
    Wake up computer
CPU opens file in Read-Only mode and gives you the following error "Word cannot establish a network connection with this document after the system resumed from suspend mode. Save the document into a different file to keep any changes."
    What I've tried:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2434898 - Office 2007 registry fixes. Does not apply.
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2413659 - Office 2010 problem. This exact issue. Says 'No microsoft products that match this hotfix are installed'
    Work Around:
I can saving new versions of these files overrides this issue, but this is sometimes not possible for end-users who only have specific access to ONE SPECIFIC FILE in a particular network share.
Please let me know how I can alleviate this issue!
    Thanks
    -Chris

    Hi,
Are those problematic documents created via previous versions of Office?
Please also try to run a repair of your Office 2013 installtion and check if it helps. See:

  • System freeze after resume from suspend to RAM

    Hi,
since quite a while (probably ever) I am unable to suspend my computer to RAM because everytime it freezes a few seconds after resuming, never to become alive again until a reboot. After some investigation, I managed to get kernel logs by taking a picture of my screen. The logs were not written to disk, hence I didn't see anything before. This issue seems to be related to disk failures like bad sectors but I am quite sure, that my SSDs are in a good shape. I ran some SMART tests, they all turned out to be okay. Suspending from my dual-booted Windows works fine as well (although if the bad sector would be on the linux partition, it would probably not affect Windows).
    Here's my setup:

I am not sure which one of the disks causes the freeze but I assume it's the revodrive because the logs talk about two drives. The Revodrive internally holds two drives, which are set up to operate in a RAID 0. Windows is installed on the Corsair drive, and has no access to the Revodrive. However, I used to run Windows on the Revodrive a few years ago, and it worked just fine.
Another interesting thing is that when I try to test suspend to RAM, the system does not freeze, nor produce errors. This only happens if none is written to /sys/power/pm_test (which means no automated wake-up, no testing).
Any ideas on how I could narrow down this issue? Thanks a lot!
    EDIT
I just checked and confirmed that this issue is originating from the OCZ Revodrive:

Thank you for the link, unfortunally I don't have a NVIDIA card but use the Intel IGP (HD4600, Haswell) - maybe I should have mentioned that...
And other than in this bug report I cannot kill X or anything because neither other TTYs work - I cannot input anything (although the hotkeys work weird enough) nor is SSHD running because the system is completely frozen...
Very funny thing is that for the last 2 days my system didnt freeze once (suspended about 6-7 times during one boot), even though for the 2 weeks prior to that, it froze EVERY SINGLE TIME I resumed from suspend, it didnt work once...

  • How to bring MSSQL database from suspended mode to online mode?

    Hi,
I restarted services through SAP MMC & couldnt restart the service. ABAP work processes Ended & disp+work.exe stopped.
I checked all SAP related & SQL related services; they were up, but when i tried logging in to the database it was in Suspended mode. I could not login to the database.
Can anyone tell me the reason for my database going to suspended mode & help me getting my MSSQL 2005 database from suspended mode to online mode??
    Thanks,

I somehow managed to get my database up but still when i m trying to start the services from SAP MMC then disp+work.exe stops after  sometime.
