Wake up my computer at home ?

Hello everyone,
In office I can use my iMac to do the screen sharing with my Mac Pro at home, however, it will loss the connection if the Mac Pro goes to the sleep mode.
Is there a way that I can wake my Mac Pro from my office's iMac, if so, how to do it ..?
I have installed the wake on lan on both machine, put it does not appear on the software even it showing on the network
Thank you

Have you gone to System Preferences Energy Saver and checked the "Wake for administrator ethernet access" box?
I think thats what it says, or something like that.
Good Luck

  • How can I read email from my aol account from my iphone and keep it as uread on my computer at home.  It automatically goes to read mail on my computer.  On my computer if I want to keep an email to answer later I can mark it "Keep as New".

How can I read my email from my aol account from my iphone and keep it as "unread" on my computer at home?  At home I can read an email and if I want to get back to it at a later date I can mark it as "keep as new".  I tend to forget it if it goes to "read" mail.   Right now, when I read an email from my phone it goes automatically to "read" mail.

On the iPad, using the mail app, there is no way to do what you are asking without tapping the flag icon and marking the item as unread. Have you tried the OWA app for the iPad? It may have that functionality, but I haven't tested it as you need an Office 365 subscription with Exchange support to use the app.

  • I have a question that I think I know the answer to, but am looking for confirmation.  I have a dell computer at home that has clip art available on it for putting pictures into documents.  Do I need to install an APP to get something similar to clip art?

I have a question that I think I know the answer to, but am looking for confirmation.  I have a desktop computer at home that has clip art loaded onto it.  I recently got an iPad and am looking for something similar.  I assume I need to get an APP for it, and if that is correct, does anyone have one that they like?

Sort of.  There is an app called art shop that gives you a place to park clip art.   But I don't think you really need it.
If you have a collection of clip art you want available, move it to the camera roll on your pad/ phone, then copy paste into your document the clip you want.
You can get them into the camaera roll by putting them in a single event in your picture library and syncing them over,  or e mail them to your self, and save to the camera roll, or send them to drop box, and bring them down that way.
The challenge is getting them all in one place to make it easy for you to find, which is why syncing might be the best approach in the long run.
As near as I can tell there is not a ready made clip art collection in app format laying around.

  • How do I direct all internet traffic I on my firefox portable browser I use at school, through to my computer at home, so I can use my modem as a proxy?

My school has a web filter that prevents me from accessing any website I want to at school, and I want to get past it.
I know, from experience, that I can use a program called Ultrasurf to get around this, though it requires me to use IE, and is inconvenient.
I want to know if it's possible to configure the proxy settings on Firefox (and some on my modem/router, and/or computer at home), in order to direct all my traffic through my router at home, similarly to how one would use a proxy.
If so, how is this possible?
(I'm relatively experienced with computers, but have very little programming, and other complex knowledge of the workings of these things)
At home, my computer is running 64 bit Windows 7, has 4 GB of RAM, a 2.1GHz Intel Core 2 Duo processor, and can be turned on and online 24/7, such that if necessary, it can direct traffic sent to it.
My router/modem at home is (I believe) a Westell 327W, I can get more information by looking at it later if necessary.
At school, as of last year (and probably the same this year), the computers run Windows XP, and I am able to run programs installed on a flash drive on them, though cannot actually install programs on the computers themselves.
I'll be using whatever the latest (not beta) version of Firefox Portable exists when I return to school in a week.

I am trying to import songs to my new macbook pro from my old computer using home sharing. Both computers say that home sharing is now on but neither show up in each other's library menu. I am logged on with the same apple id for both computers. and both are on a stable wireless connection

Logging into itunes store on each machine wth different Apple IDs is OK Autorising each others machines with the other Apple ID is OK. This is completley separate from Home Sharing
For Home Sharing to work you need to
File > Home Sharing > Create Home Share.
You need to select one of the two Apple IDs you are using and ENTER THIS ON BOTH MACHINES WHEN CREATING THE HOME SHARE.
    Home sharing will then work

  • How do I transfer music from work computer to Home?

My main iTunes library is located at home. Every day I go to work, plug my Nano into my work computer connect to iTunes and listen to music from my Nano.
Here's my problem. I like to download free songs of the week from iTunes to my computer at work. How do I move these downloaded songs to my computer at home? Thanks.

You could try to take them off your Nano--it's a little harder to move files from an iPod onto a computer but it can be done. I can't help you with this, I don't know how to do it, but if you search these forums there are lots of threads about how to do this.
To put a song file on a jump drive, open your iTunes folder (I assume this is where the file will be located) find the file folder for the artist you downloaded, then the album the song was on, and finally the song. Copy this to the jump drive.
Then, you'll need to copy this file to your home computer. Just reverse the steps. In your iTunes folder, make a folder for the artist, then one for the album, finally copy the song into this folder. Next, in iTunes, go to File > Add File to Library and navigate to this song file. When you click on the song for the first time to play it, you'll get a popup box asking if you want to authorize your computer to play the song. (You can authorize up to five computers to play downloaded songs--so make sure you're under this limit.)
    That should do it.

Copy the music from Nano to computer by:
Recovering your iTunes library from your iPod or iOS device: Apple Support Communities
Then just sync to the new device

  • HT3819 How do I share just one movie (not my entire library) from my itunes library with an authorized computer using home sharing?

How do I share just one movie (not my entire library) from my itunes library with an authorized computer using home sharing?

    many thanks.
    That should be possible.
From his library connect to your library via Home Sharing.
Select the name of the shared library in the source pane of your itunes, and click on the wee disclosure triangle to the left of the name of the library. Does "Films" appear beneath the name of the library?
    Here's a screenshot of what I mean.
Select "Films". In the right-hand pane you should see the item you want to transfer. Just select that item, and click "Import".
Use the same basic technique to get one or a few songs from your library transferred to his library. (The only difference is that you would have "Music" selected instead of "Films".
If you don't want him to have access to other items in your library, you could just switch Home Sharing off on his library after you've done the transfers.

  • I have a new computer and I want to make it my home device for I tunes. I have home sharing, and all of the music and files are on the new computer. Now what do I do to make the new computer the home computer for Itunes?

I have a new computer and I want to make it my home device for I tunes. I have home sharing, and all of the music and files are on the new computer. Now what do I do to make the new computer the home computer for Itunes?

The computer (windows platform) where I initially began using Itunes has four other computers/devices that are shared with it. All four of the other computers show up in my account, and can be managed. Or I can remove them. But on the new computer that I want to be my base computer (home if you will). The computer I want it to replace, when ITunes is open, has a tool bar, with various functions. All of the other devices are linked to that computer in ITunes, under Home SHaring. The new computer, shows the downloads via Home Sharing, but it does not show/have any tool bar.
I want to activate the new computer to be the computer via ITunes where all of the devices are linked to it as the base for ITunes. And, I don't know how to make that happen.
    I hope that makes sense.

  • How to keep songs on iphone, work computer and home computer the same?

How to keep songs on iphone, work computer and home computer the same?
This seems like something everyone would want to do. I don't know why Apple won't give us a simple solution. They could even charge us for it. I would pay!
Has anyone solved this? What is your solution?
    Thanks!

If you just want to be able to sync your devices to the same PC without having them get overwritten all the times, here is a free method
    http://cnettv.cnet.com/sync-your-ipod-two-computers/9742-1_53-50004835.html
Basically, you put the same itunes database file on all the PCs. This fakes itunes into thinking it is always the same PC and the ipod is OK to sync with it. It will NOT keep your libraries truly synced, though. I've just resigned myself to always buying from one PC and manually transferring the content to other PCs I want it on.

  • I have a computer at home and at work. I want the itunes I have at home to be the same as I have at work so I only have to load songs at home put them on my  phone and they will be on my itunes at work.  How do I do that?

I have my computer at home that has itunes on it.  It is the one that I sync to my iphone.  I have a computer at work that I would like to have the same itunes on it.  How do I go about doing that?

iOS devices are designed to sync with a single computer and iTunes library.  If you attempt to change iTunes libraries, iTunes will delete all iTunes media from your device prior to syncing with the new library.
If your goal is to get your iTunes music library on your work computer, you can copy your music to an external drive, then import it to your iTunes library at work.  Another option would be to subscribe to iTunes Match, which would then allow you to sign into your iTunes Match library on your work computer and access your entire music library (up to 25,000 songs, not including songs purchased from the iTunes store) from iCloud.

  • HT4352 Closing computer makes home sharing on TV no longer available?

Why is it that when I shut my computer my home sharing on the tv is no longer available? Do I have to have my computer up and running to share?

Yes for all content and libraries.  If you have music match, content is in iCloud.
