  • Is it possible to mass change desktop wall paper for all users using WGM?

    is it possible to mass change desktop wall paper for all users using WGM?

    yes, it's easy - change a machine to the desktop you want (the image must be on all the machines, with the same name, of course), find ~/library/preferences/com.apple.desktop.plist Copy that to your server (or just put it on a flash drive) In workgroup manager select preferences - details - "add". Navigate to that plist. (Optional - hit "edit" and cut and past from "often" to "always", then the user cannot change the desktop at all, if you leave it in "often" it will reset next log-on.)

  • Workflow for creating a very large collage for a wall paper

    I have a bunch of photos shot with a canon t4i. My plan is to blow up all the photos and make a collage to print out on wall paper for a wall. I shot all of these photos in RAW. The dimensions of the wall are 101h x 106w. Yes, this collage bogs down my computer to the max. Its ridiculous. But anyways, I am having trouble retaining sharpness in my photos on my collage. I am a beginner with editing raw photos so that might be a problem.
    This is what I did.
    Open new photoshop (101x106")
    Edit all photos in camera raw
    drag photos from bridge on to photoshop
    place and adjust size of each photo
    what would you do differently to retain sharpness? It is important that it looks as best as possible because it will be in a small room in the foyer of our office.
    Thanks,
    Riley

    I see two problem.  On the print size exceed all the printers I know of.  The widest printers that Epson make can only print 64" wide.  Even if you cut your collage into two with some overlap for alignment.  It would be a nightmare applying 54" wide wallpaper to a wall.  There might be a third problem with cost a Epson printers that can print 54" wide rolls starting price is $10,000.00 and go up to $25,000.00. Expensive wallpaper. And you still need the paper and ink.
    For a collage that large you do not need to print at 300 DPI for you will not be viewing the wall that is big and over your height up close where the human eye can resolve down to 300 dpi. In you collage you also show only three image across the top row. Some wider the others. Look at your Cannot T4I the would mean some image would be printed  between 35" to 40" wide. without interpolation your 18MP images printed that size would meant they would print in the 130 to 150 DPI range.  To interpolate from 130-150 to 300  would requite increasing the pixel count in the range of 400 to 500 percent.  That is a lot of interpolation.  I would not do that. I would actually create the collage at 150 DPI.  That resolution should be good for an image that large.  That Collage would not tax Photoshop as much. The 300DPI collage image would be 106x300x101x300=963,540,000  at 150DPI the same image would be 106x150x101x150=.240,885,000  the is 1/4 the number of pixels.
    I would flatten the collage and cut it into 7 ovelaping stripts around 16" wide

    Hi Rahul,
    Based on your description, we can navigate to the registry entry
    HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\System to check if
    REG_SZ “Wallpaper” registry key was written on the client.
    Regarding how to deploy wallpaper via group policy, the following article can be referred to as reference.

  • How to handle vertical picture for creating wall paper

    I took many pictures (raw) during a recent festival.   Most of pictures were taken in standard horizontal format but some of them were taken in vertical orientation for a little tall objects.   After processing those pictures with LR5, they were exported in format as shown in the attachment.  They were mainly used for creating wallpaper or screen savers for my computers.   Most of pictures looked just fine  and shown nicely all in the screen but vertical pictures (pictures taken in vertical position) were all out of screen.  Those vertical picture must made different image sizing.  Could someone advise how to set those vertical pictures for export  to show all on computer screen?

    Because of the pictures taken during festivals, I am now spending more time to get nice wall papers for my win 7 and 8 computers.   I now found that it wais not that easy task.  Except for vertical pictures, I just noticed that a little bit of top and bottom parts were cut off in the both screen saver and wallpapers.   The problem is due to aspect ratio of pictures.  I use Nikon D7000 camera to take raw pictures.   In order to get perfect wallpapers and screensaver, I got to make a different aspect ratio after pp-ing in LR5.  That is too much head ache.  I like to keep 2:3 aspect ratio for printing in 4 x 6 papers.  Again aspect ratio must be changed to print on 8.5 x 11 papers..   It is too much hassle changing aspect ratios for so many pictures.. I decided to forget about some parts of top and bottom for wallpapers.  I decided not to take vertical pictures anymore.   I am learning hard way.

    iOS 7: How to reduce screen motion
    You can reduce screen motion in iOS 7. iOS 7 uses a parallax effect to create the perception of depth on your Home screen and elsewhere.
    To reduce the effect, you can turn on Reduce Motion in Settings > General > Accessibility. When you turn on Reduce Motion, Home screen transitions will fade instead of zoom.
    When the parallax effect is on, you may notice the following:
    Wallpaper, icons, and alerts shift slightly as you move your phone.
    When you set a wallpaper in Settings > Wallpapers & Brightness, the photo or image will be slightly zoomed and can't be scaled to fit the screen.
    If you zoom in, you will need to rescale your wallpaper to fit to the screen. You can't rescale certain photo formats, including landscape or square images.
    To learn more about iOS 7, refer to the user manual.

    lion, system preferences freezes when I tried to change wall paper,how do I fix this?

    Quit System Preferences if it's running. In the Finder, hold down the option key and select
    Go ▹ Library
    from the menu bar. From the Library folder, delete the following item, if it exists:
    Caches/com.apple.systempreferences
    and move the following item to the Desktop:
    Preferences/com.apple.desktop.plist
    Launch System Preferences and test. If you still have the issue, put the item on the Desktop back where it came from and post again. Otherwise, delete the item.

  • How to reduce scale at installation of wall-paper by iPad?

    How to reduce scale at installation of wall-paper by iPad?

    If you go in through the photos app you have a bit more control, but not a lot.
    FIrst, go into the control panel, accessibility and turn off the parallax motion. Then go into your photos app, find the image and 'send' it to be wallpaper by tapping the box with the arrow poking out of it.
    The higher resolution your image is the more control you'll have. The default is that the whole screen must be covered and iPad screens are 1024 x 768 or larger, so if you have a 300 x 400 pixel image, you won't have much control at all but if your image is - pixel wise - larger than your screen, you'll have more wiggle room.
    It's not perfect and isn't as much control as it used to be, but you'll have more than just going in through the wallpaper controls.

  • Help! How to Create Wall Barrier for Maze Game

    Hi - I'm working on a simple maze program that has ball which is controlled by the up, down. left, right arrow keys.  I made a maze image in Photoshop and brought it into the Flash CS6 and CC (AS3). I made one wall barrier called wallDet1_mc to test before creating other wall barriers. It doesn't work. The ball goes through the wall everytime I test it.  Any help on this would be greatly appreciated.  If anyone has a basic maze with arrow keys control where their object do not cross over the wall please let me know how to do this. Thanks.

    Still doesn't work, and I was working on it and I cannot get the object (carP_mc) to not go through the wall. There has to be a code or math equation to stop it from doing this.  If the wall detection picks up the car at the wall then it should keep it away by the same amount of pixels.  What do you think?  Below is a revamped program and thanks again for your help:
    import flash.events.KeyboardEvent;
    stop();
    /* Move with Keyboard Arrows
    Allows the specified symbol instance to be moved with the keyboard arrows.
    Instructions:
    1. To increase or decrease the amount of movement, replace the number 5 below with the number of pixels you want the symbol instance to move with each key press.
    Note the number 5 appears four times in the code below.
