Hi,
I am a new Mac user, and have just started using the iBooks Author application. After happily typing away for some pages, suddenly the next page was full of ? marks, almost like a wallpaper pattern. I tried to add a page, and the additional page had the same issue.
How do I remove this?
Can anybody help, please?
Many thanks,

I think they'd end up walking you thru the process to remove iBA caches and prefs.
Good luck in any case. -

Pixely Images as Wallpaper. Help?
When I save images from the browser and go to set them as my wallpaper they are pixely. It also only shows a small portion of the image. Any ideas how to fix this? Thank You
the reason only a small portion is being shown is the image size is too large for the phone's screen. It's like taking a giant 10 foot by 10 foot banner and holding it up to a window. You will only see the portion of the banner that you see through the window.
you need to resize the file before setting as your wallpaper.

Wallpaper/Screensaver HELP!
Hello. My 13" MacBook Pro's desktop wallpaper will not change.
So when I open System Preferences, and click Desktop Wallpaper/Screensaver, the color wheel appears, and where the images are supposed to be shown, "loading images" is seen. After a few seconds, the application does not respond and I have to Force Quit it. I've waited hours upon hours for it to load, but nothing happens! Could anyone give me any tips on how to fix it? I can change my wallpaper in Safari, but I can't set anything in my iPhoto library/Pictures library. Thank you in advance. Are the photos in a format the Touch can handle? Technical specifications for a second generation Touch state: "Syncs iPod-viewable photos in JPEG, BMP, GIF, TIFF, PSD (Mac only), and PNG formats" so I assume it's that same for the latest Touch's too.
Note that the PSD format says Mac only.
Other than that, I've no more ideas.

I had no clue how to even search for help with this, but I'm having a bit of trouble with something. So...
I have 2 layers which I want to merge together, and use onto another picture. Here is a picture of the two separate layers i want to merge;
I'm trying to do this with another figure, but this is a simplified version of what I'm trying to do. So, The following picture is what i want.
But when I merge the two layers, I get this;
I can't use the unmerged version, because the excess purple lines will be present in the picture i apply this figure onto. Is there an easy way to not have the excess parts outside the blue blur? or do i have to do some tedious trimming? I'm using Photoshop CS4, with Mac OS 10.6.3. (EDIT: I just realized that i had this against a white background, and if i had the second image on a transparent background, I'd still get the figure in the last image. But still, is there a way to cleanly clip the shape of the lower layer into the upper layer?)J Maloney wrote:
Make the bottom layer's transparency a mask for the top layer and then hide the background and merge visible to a new layer.
If .you notice they d not have an opacity mask.
They have to make one first then drag it to the other layer.
I think they could have simply make a layer mask
then command or control clicking the layers icon to make a selection
then inverse the selection
then fill the mask selection with black
then drag that to the bottom layer the one with the squiggle line.
I write this just in case they do not know how. -
hi,
could someone explain to me what 'frame blending' actually does when slowing a clip down?
which is smoothest with with or without?
thanks in advancecould someone explain to me what 'frame blending' actually does when slowing a >clip down?
If you want a clip to play for 4 seconds that is only 2 seconds long, you will need extra frames, duplication adds the new ones.
Frame blending does more than a straight duplication, it uses the before and after frames to create intermediate frames and will give a smoother look, but sometimes a little unatural in appearance.
Try turning it off if you don't like the look.

System Preferences menu broken - can't swap wallpaper! - Help!!
So my friend and I played a trick on an intern here at work who just got a new MBP. We swapped his background out for a vista one - real simple, right.
Well, he got back and had a good chuckle about it UNTIL - the system preferences panel crashed after he tried to switch it back!
So here is the only symptom:
Open system preferences
Click "backgrounds and screensaver"
window opens, looks ok
window closes and error screen pops up saying "system prefrences unexpectedly closed"
HELP! he is NOT HAPPY now!Sounds like you'll have to hunt around to fix the problem you caused. The easiest is to download and install the 10.5.4 COMBO update. If that doesn't work, create another admin user account, log into it, and see if the problem's gone. Report back.

Another Zen V+, accidentally deleted wallpaper folder, help on restoratio
I accidentally deleted the pre-made wall papers folder with all of the samples in it when clearing out all of the sample files. I want to use one of my own pictures for the wall paper, but when I made my own "Wall Papers" folder, and put the picture in, the Zen V+ under Pictures>Wall Paper it says there are no acti've Wall Papers. Is there a way to reformat the firmware completely? I tried updating it and that did nothing at all.
Thanks AlexNo, they haven't. Go to http://www.epizenter.net/e07_plugins...php?47589.post. They're all there, at least when I go there in my browser. EDIT: Ouch I see what you mean. But If you search Preloaded Wallpapers, they do show up. Anyway, I'll put them here. Sorry if I'm doing anything wrong guys, haven't seen many photos in the forums. Arch Linux Wallpaper 1080p (Rendered with Blender Cycles)
Title pretty much says it all. I've included the source .blend (Blender) file for those that want to tweek it.
Wallpaper:
Blender Source File: DownloadHaikarainen wrote:
This is really beautiful! I read you rendered it using blender, is this available for linux also or is it windows/mac only?
Criticism: Tux stands out too much, doesn't feel like he fits in. I think it would be really cool and better if you worked on his materials, perhaps making him look like a plushy? You know a little furry.
Thank you Yes, Blender works very well on Linux, you can get it from the official arch repo ($ sudo pacman -S blender). This image was modeled and rendered entirely on Arch Linux using Blender + Gimp for some touch-ups (I would never make an Arch Linux wallpaper on Windows/Mac, that's sacrilege ).
Thanks for the criticism as well. Like I mentioned above, I'm working on a couple improvements and different designs already. I'll keep your suggestion in mine while designing them. -
Is there any way to help aid this annoying wallpaper zoom problem?
So with the addition of iOS 7 came a new feature; parallax, adding a 3D effect to the home and lock screens. This is all fine and dandy, but 1. I don't like the feature because it wastes battery to use the gyroscope to just make the wallpaper move a bit, 2. The parallax doesn't even look 3D, and 3. Which is my main problem, it messes with the scale and zoom of when I am trying to set a wallpaper.
So pretty much what I am asking, is there any way to make more of a wallpaper show when I set it? Even with "Perspective Zoom" turned off, most of the edges of the picture are cut out and the "Fix" introduced with 7.1 doesn't seem to fix anything relating to the annoying zoom problems, other than giving people the option to not have their wallpaper move, but still have animations-and oh that brings up something else-
Turning off "Perspective Zoom" turns off the wallpaper moving, but not the app icons moving. If you look closely, the apps move too, in the opposite direction of the wallpaper, to help give more of a parallax effect. The movement is a lot more subtle, but still definitely there.I never had any problem installing wallpaper. Knowing the photo is going to enlarge start with a photo smaller then full screen. If the photo is too small when you try to install it you can enlarge it by putting two fingers on the screen and moving your fingers apart.

Can't Change KDM wallpaper/background [Solved'ish]
Hi, any suggestions welcome.
I am using KDE4.3
I want to change the blue background with bubbles to just black, I have tried all settings in systemsettings both as root and as user with no change.
As a last resort I have even changed every blue bubble (oxygen air) image in /usr/* that I can find to black, only to find I still have blue bubbles on login/splash.
I have also tried both Ksplash and Kdm generators, but neither changes wallpaper.
please help me
Tim
Last edited by foggybrain (2010-01-06 22:04:50)no change
btw, KDM is set to auto log me in, so i don't even see the login page, just a splash.
EDIT
Have just tried ksplash-oxyarch from the AUR, works perfectly giving me a black splash background.
It needed kde-meta-kdebase that was not installed before, I have no idear if this was affecting my ability to change the background.
Anyway...solved'ish
