Wallpaper one external monitor??

Okay, I have the macbookpro running leopard...
I have the macbookpro closed and I have a 42" external monitor running my display...
I am trying to change the wallpaper to something other than the default leopard wallpaper and it doesnt seem to be working. When I try to set the new one, it flashes on there for a split second and then stays as the default leopard wallpaper...
Any ideas guys?

I kind of have the same problem, except, Ironically, I was trying to change it to the default leopard wallpaper. So I went into desktop in preferences and it opened two windows, one in my mac, the other in the external monitor. I clicked on the image and it came up for a second as the background, now it is rotating between wallpapers from the "Apple Images" folder and I can't change it. Does anybody know what to do?

  • Is it possible to equip a MBP with more than one external monitor

I am having one 17" monitor connected with my MBP right now. There'a a plan to buy new monitor and I don't wanna dispose my current one. Does anyone connect your laptop with more than one monitor?
I tried to search apple site about some cable that enable MBP to connect to more than one monitor, but haven't found any yet.

Yes, you can. But you have to use a third party hardware:

What is the best way to use two external monitors with my MacBook Pro (17-inch, Mid 2010) with minimal latency?

The MacBookPro only has enough horsepower in the video card for one external monitor.
If you want two or more, you need a MacPro.
Or a MacBook Pro and a Remote Desktop controlled MacMini.

  • Twist: Can't make two external monitors work

I'm trying to get two external monitors to work with my twist. One is connected via mini-HDMI, the other using a Thunderbolt adapter (I've tried adapters for VGA, DVI and HDMI - same result). Only one external monitor (mini HMDI) works, although Win8 detects both (lists the grayed-out monitor make/model correctly). If I unplug either monitor, the other works fine.
Note that I am using an Apple Thunderbolt adapter, not the Lenovo Mini DisplayPort adapter. I use the Thunderbolt adapter with one monitor all the time.
I have two monitors working at another location; Mini DisplayPort -> VGA and USB -> SVGA.
Is the problem that I'm not using the Lenovo adapter, or is this never going to work? Thanks.

The Twist should support internal LCD + one external LCD (or 2 external LCD with displayport splitter) on at the same time.

  • X240 (Win 8.1) w/ Ultra Dock and two external monitors connected via DisplayPort problem

I'm having trouble making this combination work. This Ultra Dock does have two DP connectors, computer sees both external monitors (HP ZR24w) but I cannot get any picture on both at the same time using DP. Sometimes one display does work, but that is not always working.
When I connect same monitors via VGA/DSUB and DP (with Lenovo DPtoDVI converter) I can get this to work - both same time - , but I'd prefer them both digital and both native DP as both monitors do have that port.
Ultra Dock does already have the latest firmware and this problem seems to not relate to the flickering problem with T440 etc. X240 is also running latest UEFI/BIOS and I've also tried latest Intel Beta display driver, no effect.

Two Asus monitors attached via DVI
Let me start by saying that the internal and both external monitors work simultaneously. However, getting to that state is the problem.
I can boot successfully with the laptop in the dock with 1) just the internal monitor, or 2) the internal and one external monitor connected.
However, if I try to boot with both monitors connected via DVI, the following happens:
Windows logon screen appears -- but there is no cursor on the screen
I enter the password and the login continues for 30-60 seconds, then
Blue screen SYSTEM_SERVICE_EXCEPTION for nvlddmkm.sys with STOP x0000003B
Lenovo has replaced the dock with no change in behavior.
    Drivers and BIOS are current.
Most recent change was to set BIOS so Win 7 automatically detects Nvidia Optimus.
At this point, my best workaround is to disconnect one external monitor whenever I need to reboot, and then connect it again after everything is runing. Not terrible... but it really shouldn't be necessary. Any suggestions?
If you want to drive the monitors in the manner stated, the BIOS Display property must be set to Discrete and the auto detection below it must be disabled.

  • Which cable to use for 2 external monitors on MacBook Pro?

    Hy there,
I'm currently using one external monitor on my MacBook Pro via a mini display to VGA cable from apple.
I would like to hook up another (second external monitor) one using also VGA.
After doing some research I've learned that I should use some sort of adaptor cable for this. I'm just wondering if there is any way of getting one of there for a decent price in europe? (decent is sub €100).
    Thanks a lot!

Yes. You can mirror or extend as been so for many years.
     2. Which solution is the best to connect 2 external monitors to my MBP 13 2011 i5 ?
None, the graphics card is poor integrated graphics and it can barely drive one external monitor, much less two.
If you wanted two external monitors the machine to get is the Mac Pro.

  • Can MBA connect to 2 external monitors?

I have been using a dual-display graphics card in a PC for some time, with 2 monitors connected to make a large working area. Is it possible to do this with the MBA? Is the mini displayport to DVI compatible with dual-display? So far, I have been able to successfully use the MBA with lid closed connected with one external monitor. Cheers!

My impression is that the dual-display adaptor may work with one of those Y DVI splitters for dual-monitor cards. But is anyone certain about this?

  • 2 External Monitors with X130e

    I've got a problem.
I have an HP monitor with a VGA output, and a TV with HDMI.
They both work, but not at the same time. I can use one, or the other, but together? Nada. I want to extend my screen to the monitor, and then the TV.
Please let me know your thoughts.

    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    Hello,
The X130e's GPU may only support two simultaneous displays—it's own LCD and one external monitor at a time.
You can try using an USB to VGA (or HDMI) video card, which will plug into one of the X130e's USB ports. This is how I add a third monitor to my ThinkPad T410s at work, and it works well for my uses (apps and web browsing).

  • 2 External monitors

Apple store advised me to purchase a VGA splitter to run two external monitors on my MBP. I connected the VGA splitter to the VGA adaptor and then to two external monitors. They both work but they are mirrored. ie, I still have only one external monitor in effect. Any ideas about how to make the 2 external continuous with the MBP monitor to have work space 3 monitors large?
    thanks

You can't by using a VGA splitter. That just splits a single signal into two; it won't give you two different signals. The only way to have two independent monitors on your MacBook is with the Matrox DualHead2Go:

  • 2 External Monitors with the T430s with Intel HD4000

I have read several multiple monitor threads but could not get a clear solution to this.
    Model: I have a T430s with Intel HD4000 graphics.
Desired set up: 2 External Monitors + Lenovo LCD
Problem: It seems that I can only drive one external monitor. I'd like to drive two external monitors, as I did previously with my T420.
What I've tried: I have a dock and have tried VGA + DVI for the external monitors, as well as DVI + DVI. Neither setup has worked. It always greys out the third monitor in the Windows Display options.
Any thoughts on how to drive two external monitors with the T430s? Clarity is appreciated. Thank you!

If I'm reading the link you provided correctly, can I correctly assume that I CAN connect two external displays with just the W520 Laptop and NO docking station?
I tested this today.  You can connect two external displays (1 VGA, 1 DisplayPort) without a docking station.  The result is 3 independent displays - the ThinkPad LCD, the VGA monitor, and the DisplayPort monitor.

  • Can X301 support multiple external monitors?

    Hi,
I'm looking at buying a X301, but I'd like the ability to drive 2 external monitors at 1600x1200 (the native resolution of those devices).  Does anyone know if the X301 can do that?  If I need a specific external dock to do that, can someone point me towards that dock?
    Any help would be appreciated!
    Thanks,
    -Jeff

the X301 have a display port and vga output supported natively on the actual machine, which can support one external monitor, you can then get Lenovo usb enhanced port replicator, which has another vga output, using that you can output two external monitor....
haven't tried it, since i don't have a X301, but theoretically it should work, maybe someone can confirm this for you, as the last thing you want is to purchase a machine and it turns out that it won't work in the way you hoped it can.
