Wallpaper randomly changes to blue

Occasionly the wallpaper on my windows xp laptop randomly changes to solid blue. If I go into display properties, all the options are still there but the wallpaper will not change if I select an other one. This is surprising as I recently re-installed windows!
Does anyone have any suggestions? Thankyou.

Yes, I used the supplied media in order to restore it. I have a Toshiba Sattelite Pro M70, with the Intel 915GM chipset. Thankyou for your reply, but I think I may have found the source of the problem, it seems to only occur when I set a wallpaper using windows live photo gallery.

My wallpaper randomly changes

Every now and then when I start up my mac the wallpaper will be different, in the desktop wallpapers section it says its the wallpaper I chose and I have the option for periodic changes unchecked so im guessing its a glitch of some sort.

That sometimes happens to me. When I have a wallpaper set after shut down then start it up the next day it goes back to the original wallpaper. Mabe in the settings for you it has auto change on?

Randomly changing Display Profiles during user switch

I keep my MBP Display Profile set to "Color LCD" (which is the default, I think -- System Preferences>Displays>Color>"Color LCD")
Sometimes, and it seems intermittent and random, when I do a fast user switch from my wife's profile (also set on "Color LCD") to mine, right after the rotation animation finishes, the setting randomly changes to "Generic RGB Profile" and all the colors skew blue. Very annoying.
Any idea what's causing this? Any help would be appreciated.

Hmmm... Well, that seems to be a decent description of the symptoms, although what's happening on my screen is a lot more dramatic than what they describe in the article. Also, I don't believe I'm using a custom color profile.
I'll try the DMProxy trick and see what happens. Thanks for the tip.

Wallpaper wont change

Hi. As a lurker of /wg/, I have amassed quite a large collection of wallpaper sized pictures. But when I try to selent my wallpaper folder (which various folders inside containing the images), the wallpaper wont change at all, and I cant see the images in the wallpaper folder window in my desktop tab of the system preferences. Is there some size limit to the folder than can be chosen for desktop backgrounds or is something wrong with my computer?

If I understand you correctly.. your are trying to set a folder to use for random Desktop Images.
In Desktop prefrences, click the + button and navigate to the folder you wish to use and click OK. The new item will be to the bottom in the Folders list.
Note that the OS will only use images in that folder, not folders contained inside that folder, in formats it can read.
If you have a folder that is organized with sub folders, then you will indeed see nothing as a preview.
This same method works for Screen Saver as well!

How do I stop DW CS6 randomly changing file permissions via FTP?

How do I stop Dreamweaver CS6 12.0.1.5842 randomly changing file permissions when it uploads files to my web server via FTP.
I can no longer trust Dreamweaver to upload websites correctly as it changes permissions on some files which then deny the server access to the file which in turn makes the webpage unreachable/return a 403 error.
This is driving me insane.
I'm using an early 2011 Macbook Pro 10.7.5.

I'm having this problem too. Has Adobe fixed the issue yet? This appears to be an Adobe problem, not all the web hosts out there. CS6 is ramdomly (meaning: not every time) changing permissions on files uploaded with it and is not usable for web work until this problem is fixed by Adobe or a solution is provided. If I wanted to use a separate FTP program I would not have recommended that my employer buy multiple Adobe CS6 product licenses. One of the primary appeals of DW is the integration of FTP into the workflow.
I am using a destop iMac2.8 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo, 4 gigs of 800 MHz DDR2 SDRAM.
OSX 10.7.5
I am using DW Version 12 Build: 5808
Dreamweaver CS4 that I was using until this new purchase was working just fine. No file permisssion changes. I am being forced to go back to using it until Adobe posts a fix for this.
I should ask while I'm here: has anyone found a solution for this yet?

When I choose the "Narrator" setting to record voice only, and then decide to delete that track and record a different one - it randomly changes the setting from "Narrator" to "Bright Voice" or some other category. Sometimes the Narrator setting disappears altogether and is not even a choice. Also - sometimes there is no sound recorded on the tracks, even after it was just working fine and I did not change any settings. Other times, the mic is cutting in and out on the recording, making it unusable. I am using it on a MacBook Pro (late 2008 - 2.53 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo, 4 GB 1067 MHz DDR3) with OS X Yosemite 10.10. Are there bugs in the software, or is my MacBook too old?

Why do drop shadows created in Illustrator CC randomly change their color mix?

Drop shadows that I've created in Illustrator CC will randomly change their color mix when they are different mixtures of cmyk black, usually after closing and opening again. For example, if the drop shadow is 75c 68m 67y 90k, the next time I open the file it will 20c 0m 0y 100k. This happens with many of my files, and has been going on for several months. Thanks.

Hey I found out from the developers that this is actually fixed in version 29 via Bug 965861. Try the pdf viewer in the next version of Firefox, this will take care of that gradient. :-) Cheers.

Application Focus randomly changes

Im about to go nuts... Even as I type this, Lion is doing this crazy thing.
If I have a bunch of windows open, which I always do, the Application focus randomly changes. To better describe, If I am typing something in the address bar in Safari, it will bring windows from other applications, but the cursor is still in Safari, typing the keys I hit. I can't see what I am typing because it brings EVERYTHING to the front (Excel, Word, PPT, Skype, SFDC Chatter.. and the 10,000 other apps
I end up having to having to minimize everything to the dock so that I can see what I am typing.. and to keep from pulling my hair out.
This is a hard one to search discussions for, I hope it has been solved!

Well, I guess there's the standard troubleshooting stuff to try to see if we can't get a hint....
Have you tried:
- Starting in Safe Mode (hold shift key during startup) and seeing if the behavior persists?
- Creating a new user (or using Guest) and seeing if the behavior persists for that user?

PSE 8 brush strokes randomly change to heavy line thickness

I installed PSE 8 on a trial offer and when I use my Wacom stylus, the line thickness randomly changes to a heavy line. I've cleared prefrences, and reloaded the Wacom drivers and messed with sensitivity. Any suggestions?

PSE allows user to change various parameters by the Pen pressure of the Wacom Tablet.
While using Brush tool, You will find an arrow icon on the tool bar at the end, Opening it, you will find several parameters whicj can be controlled by Wacom tablet Pen pressure. So while you are using brush with the Pen, the pressure you apply on the Wacom, increases the brush size.
In case you need to change the Opacity of the brush, you can set it from the options bar and continue using and do Wonders.
Try it. This is really good.

My system, web fonts randomly change to italic?
Have tried searching through all the preferences but can't find out why it's doing this.
Some days it does it, some days it doesn't and I can't work out what's driving it.

WHY do we get a %*# update every 2 weeks while the 1 really bad bug (fonts and sizes randomly changing when typing) persists????

Is there any way to STOP TB from sending updates every couple of weeks (and BTW this has slowed down/crashed TB increasingly in the past couple of months) UNTIL they fix this really irritating bug of randomly changing fonts and sizes when writing a mail? Outlook doesn't do this, Apple mail doesn't do this, so TB stop spamming and start addressing real problems for a change!!!!

It would be helpful perhaps to focus on "the real issue" of font size and compose, rather to digress into how vendors choose to deliver the product.
font issues arose in the past year. I forget exactly when. It is quite a bad problem. My recollection is it was a serializer change not done by Thunderbird developers, and that part of it was fixed in version 24. But I could be wrong.

Publishing makes random changes on site

i did a website in "modern frames". i created my own menues (simple text that i use with the hyperlink function), colors, photos, .... when i publish the site even to a folder on the same computer it makes random changes of colors, any picture can appear in any size anywhere on a page, one page works fine, the other is changed completely. i copy and paste the same menue bar on all the pages, on some it work, on others no. it changes some sizes, some fonts, squeezes a text into a picture frame,... name an error, you can find it on my published site.
i am soooooo disappointed! Can someone please tell me if that is normal!?!?!

Welcome to the Apple Discussions. What's the URL of your site so we can examine it first hand?
Are you using Web Safe Fonts? Have you cleared your browser's cache (CommandOptionE for Safari)?
Try the following:
1 - close iWeb.
2 - delete the iWeb preference file, com.apple.iWeb.plist, that resides in your User/Library/Preferences folder.
3 - go to your User/Library/Caches/com.apple.iWeb folder and delete the contents.
4 - reboot.
4 - launch iWeb, republish and see if there's any improvement.

I have recently had two of my contacts randomly changed to blocked callers. I have not changed this in their contact settings. Any thoughts?

I would only enable your enterprise server on you Mac and other devices. I would turn off contacts in iCloud. Icloud will show duplicate contacts. The way I got rid of is only using enterprise.
This should work.
