Wallpaper/Screensaver HELP!

Hello. My 13" MacBook Pro's desktop wallpaper will not change.
So when I open System Preferences, and click Desktop Wallpaper/Screensaver, the color wheel appears, and where the images are supposed to be shown, "loading images" is seen. After a few seconds, the application does not respond and I have to Force Quit it. I've waited hours upon hours for it to load, but nothing happens! Could anyone give me any tips on how to fix it? I can change my wallpaper in Safari, but I can't set anything in my iPhoto library/Pictures library. Thank you in advance.

Are the photos in a format the Touch can handle? Technical specifications for a second generation Touch state: "Syncs iPod-viewable photos in JPEG, BMP, GIF, TIFF, PSD (Mac only), and PNG formats" so I assume it's that same for the latest Touch's too.
Note that the PSD format says Mac only.
Other than that, I've no more ideas.
Phil

  • Desktop Wallpaper Screensaver Bug? [When waking from sleep]

I'm not sure if this topic is in the correct category but it seems to fit.
I have a new 15.4" MacBook Pro with OS 10.6.3. I have multiple images that I want as a wallpaper and so I decided to select "Change picture" in the preferences pane. I also selected "Random order" and chose "When waking from sleep" as the time for the wallpaper to change.
However, if I close my lid, and then re-open it, when the computer wakes up, instead of the wallpaper changing, it changes twice.
Now, this isn't really a problem but it can get annoying sometimes and I was wondering if this problem is due to something I do, rather than the operating system.
    Thanks.

I just noticed something, perhaps this will help? There appear to be two kinds of sleep, display sleep and computer sleep. I noticed that if my machine is running (playing music, for instance) and the display goes to sleep, when I use the mouse to wake up the screen the background changes. So maybe when I wake up the machine from computer sleep it changes once for waking from computer sleep, and once more for waking from display sleep?

  • Screensaver help - downloading.

    Hello,
I just got an intel iMac 20' alum. computer today and i'm trying to download a screensaver that I had on my previous iMac G5 - problem is, I can't. I read that the Stuffit Expander does NOT come with this model so I downloaded that myself. I then went to the website and selected that I wanted to mac version. The stuffit expander opens - extracts the files, and then the screen saver starts to download. At the end it says an error occured because an error occurred - 5000 (really helpful!).
Any suggestions on what I may be doing wrong? Maybe it doesn't work with Leopard?
If anyone is wondering what screensaver I am trying to download - it's the "Hairspray" movie one on the official website.
    Thanks!

The Get Info window will tell you the code used in an app; PowerPC, Intel or Universal. To see the Get Info window, highlight an app with one click and either left click and choose Get Info or press key combo Command + "I".

It sounds like you just need to try to implement what you have described - take it one thought/step at a time and it should all get tied together by the time you get thru it all.  After you do that you should come back if things don't work and explain what you tried, including the code that you implemented with it.

  • Suddenly my next page is full of ???, almost like a wallpaper.  Help?  thanks!

    Hi,
I am a new Mac user, and have just started using the iBooks Author application.  After happily typing away for some pages, suddenly the next page was full of ? marks, almost like a wallpaper pattern.  I tried to add a page, and the additional page had the same issue.
    How do I remove this?
    Can anybody help, please?
    Many thanks,

    Exact same issue here!
I think it has to do with some third party app. I've used Kuvvo to automatically get wallpapers from the net en change them.
After I decided to go back to my own wallpapers and removed the Kuvvo app, my wallpaper prefs is crashing.
I tried to reinstall Kuvvo with the hope of fixing broken links / references but to no avail!

  • System Preferences menu broken - can't swap wallpaper!  - Help!!

So my friend and I played a trick on an intern here at work who just got a new MBP. We swapped his background out for a vista one - real simple, right.
Well, he got back and had a good chuckle about it UNTIL - the system preferences panel crashed after he tried to switch it back!
So here is the only symptom:
    Open system preferences
    Click "backgrounds and screensaver"
    window opens, looks ok
window closes and error screen pops up saying "system prefrences unexpectedly closed"
HELP! he is NOT HAPPY now!

Sounds like you'll have to hunt around to fix the problem you caused. The easiest is to download and install the 10.5.4 COMBO update. If that doesn't work, create another admin user account, log into it, and see if the problem's gone. Report back.

  • Why can't I resize my wallpaper before I set it? It automatically zooms in close causing the image to lose quality, yet it won't let me zoom out before setting the wallpaper? Help me?

    many thanks.

Have you tried editing the photo to lower resolution?
You will get those email addresses spammed. Not a good idea to publish them, and unnecessary.

  • Pixely Images as Wallpaper. Help?

When I save images from the browser and go to set them as my wallpaper they are pixely. It also only shows a small portion of the image. Any ideas how to fix this? Thank You

the reason only a small portion is being shown is the image size is too large for the phone's screen.  It's like taking a giant 10 foot by 10 foot banner and holding it up to a window.  You will only see the portion of the banner that you see through the window.
you need to resize the file before setting as your wallpaper.
    Dj.

  • Photo Screensaver Help

I have my photo screensaver set to all photos and not to a specific album, but when it plays back the photos it doesn't include photos from certain albums and repeats a lot of the same photos from one album. It is using multiple albums for the show just not all of them. Does anyone know why this would happen. If I select the album I know its not using as the only album for the screensaver it plays back fine so I know that the photos are synced and working. Just when I tell apple TV to use all my photos it doesn't. Any thoughts?

I don't have any suggestions for you, except that I'd always thought what a good job apple had made with this feature, on my tv's I'm extremely delighted with the way it shuffles my photos. Clearly something is not right for you because my tv's are so good at shuffling pictures, it has to be more than just different opinions about the same experience..

  • I have my wallpaper/screensaver pointed at my iPhoto album. why does a photo of half dome pop up occasionally? where is the photo stored?

i have an late '09 27" iMac upgraded to yosemite (I've accepted all upgrades from apple along the way). i have my alternating backgrounds & screensaver pointed at my iPhoto album. so why does a photo of half dome pop up occasionally? where is the photo stored? i have been to yosemite many times and do love the scenery there, but i'd like to be in charge of my screensaver. i've tried looking for the photo by name/name fragment,  but of course, if apple doesn't want us to find it, we won't find it. i don't like apple preventing me from setting up background/screensaver to my liking. apple makes the computer for the rest of us.

    You're welcome.
have you noticed for yourself if these photos are always mixed with one's selection via system preferences?
Actually no.  What I have always done was this:  I have a collection of custom desktop pictures   I made a custom folder for the pictures & placed them inside the Machintosh>Library>Desktop Pictures folder.
Then I went into System Preferences>Desktop & Screensaver>Desktop, clicked on the plus sign to add my custom picture folder.
    Restarted my comp.
Never had any issues by doing the above.  I have always done it this way since the Tiger OS.

Still, not the best solution, i need to find an answer to this thing my god i need to think!
As I noted, mine does indeed activate the screensaver.
Why don't you consult your console logs? You might also create a new plain-vanilla user account and see if the problem exists with that new account.

  • Another Zen V+, accidentally deleted wallpaper folder, help on restoratio

I accidentally deleted the pre-made wall papers folder with all of the samples in it when clearing out all of the sample files. I want to use one of my own pictures for the wall paper, but when I made my own "Wall Papers" folder, and put the picture in, the Zen V+ under Pictures>Wall Paper it says there are no acti've Wall Papers. Is there a way to reformat the firmware completely? I tried updating it and that did nothing at all.
    Thanks Alex

No, they haven't. Go to http://www.epizenter.net/e07_plugins...php?47589.post. They're all there, at least when I go there in my browser. EDIT: Ouch I see what you mean. But If you search Preloaded Wallpapers, they do show up. Anyway, I'll put them here. Sorry if I'm doing anything wrong guys, haven't seen many photos in the forums. • Is there any way to help aid this annoying wallpaper zoom problem?

So with the addition of iOS 7 came a new feature; parallax, adding a 3D effect to the home and lock screens. This is all fine and dandy, but 1. I don't like the feature because it wastes battery to use the gyroscope to just make the wallpaper move a bit, 2. The parallax doesn't even look 3D, and 3. Which is my main problem, it messes with the scale and zoom of when I am trying to set a wallpaper.
So pretty much what I am asking, is there any way to make more of a wallpaper show when I set it? Even with "Perspective Zoom" turned off, most of the edges of the picture are cut out  and the "Fix" introduced with 7.1 doesn't seem to fix anything relating to the annoying zoom problems, other than giving people the option to not have their wallpaper move, but still have animations-and oh that brings up something else-
Turning off "Perspective Zoom" turns off the wallpaper moving, but not the app icons moving. If you look closely, the apps move too, in the opposite direction of the wallpaper, to help give more of a parallax effect. The movement is a lot more subtle, but still definitely there.

I never had any problem installing wallpaper. Knowing the photo is going to enlarge start with a photo smaller then full screen. If the photo is too small when you try to install it you can enlarge it by putting two fingers on the screen and moving your fingers apart.
