Wallstreet screen hard to read

I can lighten the screen or increase the contrast but the words on the screen look faded. Any picture looks very over-exposed. I wonder if the problem is a video card. I'm not sure if there is a separate video card in the Wallstreet. Can anyone suggest what I might do to help? It seems most noticeable when reading a Word or similar document. The OS is 9.2.2.

One of the most amazing things about the Internet is the number of people who are willing to work through problems like this with strangers. I am overwhelmed with gratitude. I mean that. As for this problem, the powerbook OS is 9.2.2. I will try agian to check the keyboard and mouse. The mouse is plugged into the keyboard and then the keyboard is plugged into the port on the powerbook. I thought there might be some setting to adjust, but if not, and if the problem continues, I will probably give up on that option.
By the way, I have a usb floppy drive that I plugged into my ibook which runs 10.2.8 and it worked for a while. I didn't know it was not supposed to support a floppy. However, it did eventually quit "seeing" it. Ignorance is bliss, sometimes. Thanks again.

  • 2000 screen hard to read 8.1

    This is wdw 8.1
I find it very dificult to see the screen and wish contrast was controllable.
I really wish I could return to wdws 7

    Hey @pmnorwood ,
    Welcome to the HP Forums!
    I understand you're unhappy with Windows 8.1.
If your notebook came with Windows 7 and you created the recovery media you can run a system recovery and return the notebook to it's original operating system. Alternatively, if when you installed Windows 8/8.1 you did not overwrite the recovery partition you may be able to recover Windows 7 by tapping F11 while the notebook turns on to access the recovery console.
There is a chance the recovery console will not run as it would contain the Windows 7 recovery but the new boot manager for Windows 8/8.1 may not be able to load it correctly.
If your notebook came with Windows 8 or 8.1 this is not something I can help you with.
    Thanks!

  • New to Macs just purchased a 27-inch: 2.7GHz mac when I open e.g my company website or facebook it only displays centre of the screen How do I set it up show full screeen also the bar at the top is hard to read as so small can this be increased, ??

Hi I need some help please as above I have just purchased my first mac 27" and as much I love it as a newbie im having some teething troubles, when say Facebook or my company website is displayed it is only displayed in the centre of the screen I know I can zoom in and out but that doesnt look great and dont want to have to that on each page display, how do i fix this please.
Also the toolbar at the top of the page is so small and hard to read is there a way to increase and fix the size
    Thanks for your help

For the browser window, just drag it to the top left of the screen (click and hold on the top bar with the traffic lights to drag), then in the bottom right of the window you'll see a rectangle with diagonal hatching. Click and hold on that and drag the window to the size you want.
Clicking on the green dot at top left will expand the window to fit the screen, clicking it again will shrink it back to where it was (this doesn't work in Finder windows quite the same).
The menu bar size is set in the bowels of the OS, though there may be third-party applications which can alter it.
As it's size is relative to the screen resolution, you could try reducing the resolution in System Preferences > Displays to see if that would suit you better.

    - Try another cable

    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

The missing apps could have been done by setting the Restrictions that can hid those apps. If the backup was made with those retrictions set the the Restrictions are also restored.
Thus, if you get it to work restore to factory settings/new iPod, not from backup

  • Color screens text hard to read.

I have Color 1.5 had the text labels on all the screens are hard to read. This is true on the external monitor and also my Macbook Pro labtop screen??

The COLOR UI is fixed in resolution/font, etc. Its almost liveable at 17", but Apple recommends a Cinema Display. COLOR has a minimum screen resolution as one of its boot parameters, and this is (one of the reasons) why.

  • My MacBook Pro screen seems to be getting darker.  It's hard to read at times.  Is there a setting to make it brighter, or is this indicating I have a virus?

My MacBook Pro screen seems to be getting darker.  At times it is very difficult to read....Is there a setting to make it brighter, or is it a sign that I have a virus or some malware?

    Hi Cynthia
Go to the Apple Menu>System Preferences>Displays, you can adjust screen brightness there.

There is no application called "Adobe" - you are either working with Adobe Acrobat or the free Adobe Reader. Open up the preferences for the application (Edit>Preferences), then go to the "General" category and modify the settings for "Scale for screen resolution". You will have to restart the application after you do that. Does that fix your problems?

  • Yahoo e-mail page is distorted and hard to read (once in a while its OK) - box does not extend to the right side making e-mail info hard to read. Info displayed in the reading panel is OK.

When I open the Yahoo email page, the box does not extend across the screen and the script is distorted making it hard to read the source, subject etc. The reading panel info reads OK. All other pages of Yahoo are not distorted.

Many of your points are totally legitimate.
    This one, however, is not:
…To put it another way, the design of the site seems to be geared much more towards its regular users than those the site is supposedly trying to "help"…
The design and management of the forums for more than five years have driven literally dozens of the most valuable contributors and "regulars" away from the forums—permanently.
The only conclusion a prudent, reasonable person can draw from this state of affairs is that Adobe consciously and deliberately want to kill these forums by attrition—without a the PR hit they would otherwise take if they suddenly just shut them down.

  • Upscaled images look blurry, is there a way to sharpen them? In particular, zooming on pages with images that actually contain only text are hard to read.

I am zooming in on my homework in mastering physics. I am using a large screen and sitting far away. It uses a lot of images containing the text I need to read, but when the images are upscaled, they become very blurry and hard to read. A simple sharpen effect after it is resized would fix the problem. Is there a way to do this in firefox? like a command line switch or maybe something in about:config? Thanks

It may sound counter-intuitive, but could you try disabling graphics hardware acceleration? Since this feature was added to Firefox, it has gradually improved, but there still are a few glitches.
You usually need to restart Firefox in order for this to take effect, so save all work first (e.g., mail you are composing, online documents you're editing, etc.).
orange Firefox button ''or'' classic Tools menu > Options > Advanced
On the "General" mini-tab, uncheck the box for "Use hardware acceleration when available"
If you restart Firefox, is the issue resolved?

  • 27-inch (2560 x 1440) very hard to read

I just bought an iMac 27-inch (a replacement from the previous iMac 24 inch)
I found out that at full resolution 2560 x 1440, the display is really hard to read as all the icons are minuscule.
While you can adjust the size of the folders on the desktop, when you're inside a software (say InDesign) the palettes are ridiculously minuscule.
I had to actualy switch the display back to 1920 x 1200 resolution to have a interface that looks good and doesn't strain the eyes
But now I have two black bars on each side of the screen
Is there another way to have a eye-friendly resolution while enjoying the full screen experience?
or am I doomed to use the computer at a lower resolution?
    Txs

The 27" display high pixel density does make stuff appear small sometimes.  But you can always zoom in to the point of interest just by using the control button in conjunction with the magic mouse finger slide up/down (or a mouse with a scroll wheel).  You can also change view options for finder items to enlarge icons and the identifying font size.
In apps that display fonts you can usually change the default font sizes (text editors, browsers for example).
It just takes a little bit of getting used to but after a while you won't think about it.  I use the zoom feature a lot.

  • Icons and toolbar text is way too small and hard to read (kind of fuzzy)

The toolbars (menu bars) at the top of the screen have letters and icons and symbols that are way too small to read. Also the background color options are limited. Light black on grey is hard to read. I have tried customizing all that I can. There used to be a thing in control panel called display, and we could pick all sorts of fonts and colors for all those toolbar strips. Where did that go? I am VERY FRUSTRATED!!

I've tried those, and have just decided to go back to 3.6. Firefox just seems to have too much input lately trying to tweak and adjust. Meanwhile, the later versions just end up looking worse and worse with each iteration. Icons too small, monochromatic tool bar, making icons harder to distinguish, and, worst of all, frequent crashes.
Perhaps some of these problems are because I'm using XP, but I've noticed many if not all of the appearance deficiencies with my laptop running Win7. Probably the most annoying thing about later versions, though, is the inability to set memory time for history. This alone is a deal breaker for me, and ultimately, as IE has gotten better, I may just go back there.

Try different Calendar App. The App Store has many Calendars, some of the best are Free. Great features that you will like, including scrollable screens that can be enlarged with finger touch.

  • Dreamweaver user interface controls appear small and hard-to-read on high-density displays.

I have 3840x2160, 24" display and many of the user interface controls are small, hard to read and in some cases are cut off.
I see this issue existed with Photoshop and Adobe introduced a "Introducing scale the UI 200% for high-density displays for Windows" under "Experimental Features"
Photoshop: Introducing scale the UI 200% for high-density displays for Windows
However I don't see this option available in Dreamweaver? Is there another work around?

Wow, 4K resolution within a 24" space. You need a 200% increase in UI size just to work, I would think. Can you post a screenshot of the issue? I would like to see that. ;-)
With the changes the Dw team have made to the UI over the last few releases, and with the latest Workspaces, it almost feels like 720p is the main focus, or like the only Dw users that matter are on small Macbooks, with very limited screen real estate. I can still work on my laptop when I'm out of the office (17" at 1920x1080 on Windows 8.1), but the icons and controls are pretty small. Even with the added screen real estate, and the fact that the UI is still intact, I'd hate to have to use it for extended periods.
    I voted as well.

  • ITunes text hard to read

Help! In iTunes, the body text is really hard to read. Changing Edit > Preferences > Source Text and List Text only changes the left column (which was already legible). It's the rest of the page - everything from artists/titles to the Quick Links and Top Charts which is in an incorrect font. How can I change this?
