Wallstreet won't start up except from cd
I have an older wallstreet version with no firewire. It has sat for a good year (i have 2 other powerbooks) and it starts up then shuts down, chimes and restarts etc. all over again. I put a cd in and disc repair and it's fine, I try to initialize it and it the HD wont' mount or won't show up as available, just the G3 CD. I've done the fn-ctrl-shft-power and no difference. any solutions? buy a new HD? Any help would be great. thanks

Won't start OS X from regular account; only secondary account...
Let me try to rephrase my question...the only way my G4 will start is in safe boot; it will not start OSX from my regular account, only from a second account I created some time ago. Can anyone help at all?
Hey man--thanks for responding. You know what--I wound up reinstalling OS X, and it solved the problem. Not sure at this point what was going on, but the PB runs like new again. FYI--I also trashed a music sharing software that, well, we won't name names but it starts with a well-known member of the citrus family...we sometimes put them into our Coronas...anyway, this software had embedded itself deeply into my computer. I HAD noticed that this sharing software ran differently than anything else; left on it's own, it would just run and run all the time; and it was time consuming to quit the application entirely. Took awhile to get it out of the computer; without spotlight, I could not have done it. Anyway, all's well that ends well. 'Preciate more than you know you're responding and trying to help. --Regards, Mark

Hi All,
I'm having a problem getting the dbconsole started on an upgraded 10g r2 db.
OS = XP 64bit
DB = 10.2.0.4
It was working when it was 10.2.0.1. After the upgrade process ran :-
emca -upgrade db
this completed upto the point of starting the dbconsole at which point it tried and tried but eventually timed out. So I removed and recreated the repository
emca -deconfig dbcontrol db -repos drop
emca -config dbcontrol db -repos create
, same resultant problem as before. Finally following these instructions :-
Link
This resulted in the OUI failing due to time out of the dbconsole startup.
Outputs.....

MBP won't start or read from optical drive; steady sleep indicator light
MBP went into sleep mode at some point during the day. Now I cannot wake it up. I had a steady sleep indicator light. I've tried everything in the book (holding down pwr button to shut down, then restarting; reset power manager; tried rebooting with OS disc #1 installed - which now will not eject).
When I press the power button, I can hear the optical drive start to turn, then it stops short. The drive will spin for awhile, then stops automatically. The computer fans come on, but that's about it. I can't reboot so as to run Disk Utility. The screen remains black. Starting with shift key pressed for Safe mode or pressing C also have not worked. Seems as if the computer is not getting passed the initial start up sequence. My wife also has a MBP but I haven't tried reading my computer via Firewire yet. Not sure that will help.
I'm a long way away from any Apple store (Kazakhstan) and would greatly appreciate some help. Thanks! ScottThis problem has been resolved. Problem was a faulty RAM module. I sent my MacBook Pro to an authorized service center; they had it fixed in less than 1 day. Works fine now. No problems since!

Firefox 12 won't start after upgrade from 3.6 in Windows XP with SP3
When I start up firefox after an upgrade to 12 on my Windows XP with SP3 I see the firefox.exe process in Window's Task Manager but it never starts i.e. I never see a browser page. If I try to start it again I get an error message that it is already running.
I have rebooted and even uninstalled/reinstalled Firefox but no browser appears.
Is it possible for my to download the version I had (3.6) and I can just live with that or is there a work-around to get Firefox 12 to work on my desktop?
ThanksWell I was able to run the profile creator one time (firefox.exe -p) and I created a profile with it but still not able to start firefox. So I tried to start it again after rebooting. It starts a process which I can see in Task Manager but now I don't get either the Profile Manager dialog box or FF.
I also tried to start the profile manager with this command: "C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\firefox.exe" -p.
I terminated the firefox process and tried again but get the same results.
BTW, this command: %APPDATA%\MOZILLA\FIREFOX\PROFILES shows a profile called m6woxz30.default, which is not the name I choice for my profile the one time I got the Profile Manager to run.
BTW, thanks for your help and ideas. -
Iphoto won't start after installation from dvd
Hi.
I installed iphoto 11 from the DVD.
Then, before running it for the first time, I used software update to check for latest updates. I installed them.
Finally I run iPhoto. A window appears telling that if I want to run iPhoto i must install latest version upgrade.
I run software update again but it finds nothing!
What can I do?
Regards
AlbertoDownload and apply the iPhoto 9.1 updater and then the 9.3 updater. If that doesn't work delete the application and reinstall it and then go the 9.1 and 9.3 route.

For the first time, Bridge won't start-up either from CS3 or the XP Programs areas in Startup. I downloaded and inrtalled the CS3 Bridge 2.1.1 update and it did not help. I get the Message: The app failed to initilize properly (Oxc0000022). Click OK to Terminate. Please help if you can, thanks. phil
PS only change to my computer that I know of is I installed an ran Perfect Image defrag programI did as you sugested: "
Hold down the crtl + shift + alt keys and start photoshop. You will be a window "Delete Adobe PS Settings File". Choose yes". I am running XP Pro, and when I use the crtl-shift-alt keys while starting CS3, the Adobe Bridge CS3 Properties Window pops up. Not anything suggesting to
"Delete Adobe PS Settings File".
I assure you that I am holding the keys properly, and continuously as I double click on the shortcut to CS3. Do you have another method that can be used to accomplish this???
I do not know if my original message was clear, but I cannot start Bridge. When I do so, I get the following message:
Bridge.exe - App Error. The apploication failed to initialize properly (0xc0000022).
So I do appreciate your suggestion to:
"To reset preferences in Bridge hold down Crtl key and start Bridge. You will get a reset window, choose all 3 options"
but I can't start Bridge, so I can't change the prefs.
Thanks for trying anyway. Phil -

Gday Everyone,
Two weeks ago we installed a new Server 2012 R2 with the Essentials Experience role. It was fully patched at time of deployment. We enabled O365 integration and password sync was working fine last week. This morning I went to the Dash Board to add a new
user and after clicking the O365 tab all fields show "Not available".
The system event log shows
"The Windows Server Essentials Email Service service terminated unexpectedly. It has done this 3 time(s)."
The application event log shows the following.

The only thing we did a few days ago was enable the Azure Backup integration. I am not sure if this broke the O365 integration as I didn't go back to the O365 tab in the dashboard after installing the Azure backup.
I have spent a considerable amount of time on google, however, majority of the posts talk about Update 1 which disables the password sync service. I have checked and all services are started with exception of Windows Server Essentials Email Service (WseEmailSvc).
The Azure Backup module is working fine and the registry location HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows Server\Productivity seems to hold the correct configuration information throughout the various keys.
I am at a loss as to how to proceed with this issue? I have checked but there are no pending updates and I have attempted a server reboot numerous times.
Would appreciate external input if you have seen this issue before or know where we can look to further establish what is going on.
Cheers,
ChiperI have a similar if not identical situation - I'm currently migrating from WS2012 Essentials to WS2012 R2 Standard w/Essentials role installed. The 'wseemailsvc' service continues to fail over and over, and I am unable to manage O365 accounts from within
the Essentials dashboard on the R2 server.

I did a factory reset on my late 2008 MacBook from a Snow Leopard disc. It installed fine, but as soon as I began to use the computer (safari) it froze. Couldn't even force quit. So I held down the power button to turn it off, and now it won't start up. It goes to the grey Apple screen and just sits there loud as can be. Help! Please keep in mind I've not done anything like this before and am going to need a little hand-holding. Thanks in advance.
Hi. Don't worry it's nothing serious. Insert the Instal Disc (Snow Leopard) and press the C button while turning on the computer. Once you see the desktop, go to Utility and choose Disk Utility. Select the Macintosh Partition on the left window pane and then click on Repair Disk and Repair Disk Permissions on the bottom right corner. Wait for both processes to finish. Click on the Apple icon (top left corner) and choose quit. Your computer should restart. See if it reboots normally. If not you can always reinstall the OS following the same steps. Good luck!

Hi folks.
I'm trying to set up this ancient eMac for my mom. It had been running 10.3 or something, but I seem tyo recall it being wierd in that I couldn't get Safari (of all things) to run on it. So the other day, I put it in target disk mode and used a firewire cable and an old iBook to erase the HD and reinstall 10.3 onto it, as well as run the 10.3.9 updater.
It won't start up. It stalls at the apple logo.
So I figured that since it's RAM is maxed I'd put 10.5 onto it. I OWN 10.5 but I cannot for the life of me find it. My only copy of 10.5 is a DVD-R I bought on Craigslist from a guy who represented it as a genuine retail copy (I disputed the transaction through Paypal and was baffled that they decided in his favor). Anyway, this eMac cannot read DL DVDs. I have an external optical drive that can, but the eMac will not start up from it.
I tried to install it from my macbook pro with the emac in target disk mode but the installer won't let me because it assumes the volume 10.5 is going onto is attached to an intel processor.
I know there's some trick. Can anyone help?
Thanks!I cannot find the eMac install disk, and I haven't been able to get it to start up from my 10.3 CDRm (holding down option or c), though I read something somewhere about these not being able to start up from system folders earlier than those they shipped with. I've dealt with this sort of thing several times before, and it always seemed to work to simply use target disk mode.
It definitely won't start up fromt the 10.5 DVD-R, and I'm pretty sure I tried putting the MBP into TM to use its optical drive as well, but it didn't work. But it's worth trying again, and I appreciate your input greatly. -
How do you eject a CD stuck in the drive from an imac that won't start?
My Imac won't start. Its stuck on the Apple screen with the little gear going around. Other discussion have suggesting trying to boot directly from the install disc, which I want to try but can't because when it crashed there was a DVD in the optical drive and I now cannot remove it.
Any suggestion on how to remove it as a first step to fixing the start up screen issue! Here is a collection of ways to eject a stuck CD/DVD from your Mac.

I've updated to yosemite from Mavericks, but since i can't connect to the internet I used my time machine back up which was march 2013. Now my macbook pro won't start and ends with a prohibted sign. Any suggestions pls.
Install or Reinstall Yosemite, Mavericks, Mountain Lion, or Lion from Scratch
Be sure you backup your files to an external drive or second internal drive because the following procedure will remove everything from the hard drive.
How to Clean Install OS X Yosemite
OS X Mavericks- Erase and reinstall OS X
OS X Mountain Lion- Erase and reinstall OS X
OS X Lion- Erase and reinstall Mac OS X
Note: You will need an active Internet connection. I suggest using Ethernet if possible
because it is three times faster than wireless. -

The underlying task reported failure on exit (-9972).
This is a directory issue that Disk Utility cannot fix. Although it manifests itself as a software issue sometimes it may be hardware based. See DiskUtility reports "Underlying task reported failure" when repairing avolume http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1901?viewlocale=en_US". You can try using a utility like TechTool Pro, Drive Genius or Disk Warrior to repair and replace the directory. Another option would be to use the Archive and Install feature to reinstall. If the problem returns after correction you may have a failing or failed HDD.
