Wallstreet won't turn on- battery problem?

I was online and the computer just shut down & went black. It was showing 0% battery power, but was connected via power cord. I turned it back on and after a few minutes a warning came on saying it was running on reserve battery and that I should turn it down or it would power down, I don't remember the exact warning, but I turned it off. Now it won't even turn on. It was connected with a power cord this whole time. When checking the batteries power, it only has one light. Also, every time it's off for a while or you remove the battery it will not save the date and time, it needs to be reset. Do I need to have a new battery for it to work even though I have a cord? Does it need a battery installed to work? The battery is old and has never fully charged, but shouldn't it work with the power cord anyways? So, do I need a new battery, new pram battery, or a new cord?

shannon7,
Your Wallstreet does not have enough power to start up; here are some of the possible causes.
Your powerbook is not receiving power via the power adapter; it then ran on the main battery until depleted and you received the warning. The earlier event (shut down and went black) is one symptom of a failing main battery...when running on battery power, the battery suddenly stops supplying sufficient voltage to even sleep the powerbook; the battery then may recover enough to restart and run for a period of time. If you had been receiving power via the power adapter, this event would not have occurred.
Since your Wallstreet will not run on the power adapter:
-You may have no voltage at the power outlet; try a different outlet.
-Your power adapter may have failed; try another adapter; the PB1400, 3400, any black G3, and first-generation iBook adapters are interchangeable.
-Your power port at the rear of the Wallstreet may have broken loose from the sound/power card. When the power cord is connected to the powerbook, does it wiggle or feel loose?
-You may have a failed component inside the powerbook that controls power.
Try this procedure:
-With the power adapter connected, reset the power manager:
PowerBook G3 Series (M4753)
1. If the computer is on, turn it off.
2. Simultaneously press Shift-Fn (function)-Ctrl (control)-Power.
3. Wait 5 seconds.
4. Press the Power button to restart the PowerBook computer.

You do not need a working main battery or PRAM battery (this is actually an internal rechargeable backup battery) to run the Wallstreet. You lose your time/date settings if ALL power is removed...no power adapter and no main battery and a depleted "PRAM" battery. If a charged main battery was installed and/or the power adapter was always connected, you would not lose your settings.
Here is how the internal battery works:

• U510 won't turn on, battery light flashes twice when plugged in then nothing

My ideapad u510 is dead. It won't turn on and no power. The only indicator i get is sometimes when inserting the power adapter the battery indicator light will flash twice amber then turn off. Is this an error code of some sort or is the adapter shot and just not charging or powering up the computer?

Hi Citrineaux,
Welcome to Lenovo Community!
As per the query we understood that you are facing issue with system not powering on in your Lenovo U510 laptop.
Try to connect with different adapter and check for the issue. Also connect the external monitor to check if the issue is no power or no display. Check if you are able to hear the windows login sound.
As this model has the inbuilt battery, please try to power on by reset button or novo button.
Hope this helps. Do post back if issue persists!
Best regards,

• Gateway laptop won't turn on - Battery or AC adapter?

I have a Gateway NV52 that I purchased at Best Buy last October. Recently I've been recieving messages that my battery needed replacing, and so I had it ordered through Best Buy/Geek squad. Today, though, the computer will not turn on, even when plugged into the AC adapter.
I'm hoping this is just a battery problem. Could it be just that the battery needs to be replaced, and that I will just have to wait for that to arive? Or might it be a problem with the AC adapter or some other issue? It has not suffered any damage or been dropped or roughly handled at all so it shouldn't be anything physical(a while ago I noticed the hinge was a little loose, but I do not recall anything happening to the comptuer that would have caused it. I'm hoping that the loose hinge isn't causing it not to start).
       Any input is greatly appreciated!

October.. you're under 1 year. Ergo, stop trying to fix it yourself, bring it into Geeksquad.. before you mess up, go past warrenty or end up voiding the warrenty by trying to fix something yourself.

• MacBook Air won't turn on - battery issue?

hi everyone,
I stupidly brought a 2013 MacBook Air second hand 2 weeks ago. I have had no problems, updated to Yosemite and changed user log in etc to my own and that's been fine. The battery count was about 642 so probably about 648 now.
I usually charge it when its in the last 10% of life and then remove the charger when green. On Thursday I left it on green for about 3 hours and removed it as soon as I had realised it was fully charged and used it prior to that. Today is Saturday (just so you know timescale) and I went to turn it on.
it fired up past the Apple logo and onto log in screen. I typed in my password and it died. So I tried again got to log in (and battery was at 74% when I had a quick look) and then it died again. Powered on again, and this time didn't make it to the log in before dying. And the final time died quicker again. Now it won't switch on at all.
i have tried another air charger from a friend and this hasn't helped. Also have tried shaking it to get the motion sensor activated. Nothing.
any advice and suggestions would be really appreciated. I know I'm stupid for buying second hand, and I will probably spend as much fixing it as buying a new one would have been added to the cost of the macbook.
thankyou in advance

I saw this article - but how do I know if I need to reset the memory - as the article suggests - or if it is the mother board- as some other articles say---
I think I could change out the memory but where do I purchase one -- if that is the case??

Hi,
I have a one week old MBP, and today I faced a strange problem.

has anyone seen this before?
Sorry, but this is pure speculation. His problem is clearly with the battery. This has nothing to do with memory, and I sure would not advice 'to play around with the chips'.
Other people have had issues with their batteries and they were promptly replaced by Apple. I wouldn't risk damaging memory chips just for nothing.
Yes, it is speculation. Most advice given on these forums are based on speculation based on experience of similar issues happened to self or others.
If you read the MacBook Pro Users Guide you will see that this might haveeverything_todo with memory.
If you keep on reading the MacBook Pro Users Guide you will read that they (Apple) suggest removing memory to see if this allows the computer to start up.
Yes, some people have problems with the battery.

• MacBook Pro: Won't Turn On + Battery Draining HELP?

Bought my Macbook Pro in January, 2013. I have had no issues until yesterday, I shut it down completely the night before and took out the power cord.  Turned it on the next day, in the evening and it wouldn't turn on, put in the power cord and it was a faint green. I waited a few hours and the light had turned amber then bright green and turned on as normal and ran just fine. Today, the same thing happend it will not turn on, with the power cord turning a faint green.
I have tested the power cord, I have two and they are both fine. Haven't altered or installed anything within the system, e.g. memory. Once it turns on again it I can give details on what OS version I am running and anything else necessary.
I'm freaking out that something is majorly wrong, I love this computer!

May vary from model to model, but IFixIt.com shows the one for mine @ $120.
But I'm pretty sure it's something more besides the battery

• Iphone 5s won't turn on, battery is fine, and new charger

I have bought a new charger for my iPhone 5s, its not charging nor will the apple logo or even battery logo with lightening bolt images pop up. Its been on the charger for days, no life. held home and power button, no life... held home button and plugged into iTunes to force a restore no luck... only used my phone for 11 days.

Now what we can try doing in this case is putting your iPhone in a recovery mode and then try to restore your device in iTunes. Now I need you to plug your device into your compeer and then I need you to hold down the Sleep / Wake and Home button both down at the same time for about 20 seconds until you see the Apple Logo on the screen. Once you see the Apple Logo, let go of just the Sleep / Wake button by itself and keep your finger held down on the Home button. You will then see a different message on your iPhone screen and then you will see a different message on iTunes as well. iTunes should open and display a message such as: "iTunes has detected an iPhone in recovery mode. You must restore this iPhone before it can be used with iTunes." Let me know when you have seen this and we can continue. Let me know when you have done this and we can move on further from here please!
This worked, this is what apple support suggested I do.

You said "reset," so Meg assumed that's what you did. But "reset" is not a button; to reset the phone you must hold the HOME and SLEEP buttons at the same time until an Apple logo appears. You may have to hold for up to 30 seconds, and if the battery was completely drained, you will have to restore iOS using iTunes on your computer.

• My macbook pro got wet and the battery light is still on but my macbook won't turn on. What's the problem?

My mabook pro got wet the other night, the battery light still works but my macbook won't turn on and should i just wait for it to completely dry up? Or what should i do to solve this problem?

Just face facts - if water (or any other liquid) reached you logic board or any other electronic components, you're going to be the victim of corrosion.
Eventually, you'll need to have the logic board replaced. There are liquid sensors all over your MBP and the techs can tell if these have been activated. I wouldn't turn the computer on at all - if it were me, I would take it to your local Apple Store/AASP and get an estimate for repair. Rice & other desiccates may 'dry up' the liquid, but it won't undo the damage already done.

• My iPhone 4S battery was on 1% and won't turn back on - what to do?

And I've already tried holding the home button and the power button for about 10-20 seconds, but it keeps showing the red charging symbol. I've tried three different chargers. I've never had a problem with the battery before, it's always been working perfectly and I rarely use it all up during the day. I always turn it off while I'm at work. I've had the phone since the end of July 2012, so it's not even a year old. I also have a good habit of closing all the apps I'm not using so it won't drain the battery.
Anyone with a similar problem?
Edit: Just to be clear: I've tried charging it for at least 6 hours. I turned it in to the store I bought it today for them to have a look at it and decide what my options are. I recently got a new computer and didn't even have time to sync my iPhone with iTunes before this happened. So resetting is apparently not an option either.

Okay, got my phone back from the store I originally bought it at (the Swedish equivalent to Best Buy), and they had tried charging it with an iPhone-charger with no results. However, when they tested with an off-brand charger, it started working again. I wonder why that is.
When I got home, it was on 98% and I plugged it in with my regular charger just to see if I would really need to go out of my way to buy a completely different charger. It charged up to 99%, and I then unplugged it. I will wait and see if the problem re-occurs, but as it looks now, I probably won't be needing to get the battery changed nor book an appointment with the Genius Bar I'll check in here again if that were to happen, to give my review of the Genius Bar!
Thanks for all the help again

• Macbook Pro 15" won't turn on with battery or with power cord

I have a refurbished Macbook Pro, which I believe is a 2009 model. The battery recently was completely drained, and I plugged it in to charge, but all I got was the green light on the power cord. The battery refuses to charge, and I'm not sure if it's possible to run without the battery in, but I tried it and the computer won't start up at all. I tried an SMC reset, but don't think anything happened. Is this a fixable problem, or do I need to take it in?
OS 10.7.5 just FYI, I would provide other specs but I don't know off the top of my head and as per my situation, I cannnot check them.

• IPod very low on battery and now won't turn on when plugged into PC

I haven't used my iPod for a few weeks, so now the battery is obviously completely empty. The problem is that it won't turn on when I plug it into my PC to charge, even after half an hour or longer. Is there something I can do, or do I need to get a completely new battery put in?
iPod nano

If you are unable to give specifics about the problem or what you need to do, it's going to be rather hard to give you recommendations or alternate suggestions.
As I said, if I recall correctly, the iPod will stay on if it's being charged. But, in case I'm misremembering, are you holding down the button until you see the red arrow that says "Slide to power off"? Have you tried restoring it?

I wasn't able to charge it all night because the lighting adapter plug broke, and so this battery sign and the lighting charger sign kept popping up telling me to charge it. I tried plugging it into my computer with iTunes up, but it still would not charge and my computer would not recognize that it was there. Anyone want to give me some tips?
