WANBOOT/Jet/Solaris 10 issues?

I've tried booting via wanboot pure and cdrom method with the same results. I am using JET with a Solaris 10 01/06 and 06/06 images and have the same problems. Anyone seen this or can comment?
Below is the output from the install.

  • Using Solaris 10 on VMWARE WORKSTATION 5.5BETA

    HI .
    Can anyone help me?
I have got the Solaris CD's and need to install all of them in VMWARE but after the booting of Solaris 10(Experimental) it give s an error of the CD ROM.
I wanna install Solaris on my laptop SONY VGN-A195HP with WINDOWS XP PRO.
    Best Regards.

Sounds more like a VMWare than a Solaris issue, I suggest contacting VMWare support. At best you could try using the ISO images directly.

  • Solaris 10 NFS client with FreeBSD server

    Hello,
I have an issue about Solaris 10 and a FreeBSD server (currently running 5.4-STABLE). This server exports several NFS shares (3TB each) to various machines including Linux (which works fine) and Solaris (which worked fine on 9 but not 10).
The last progress was that if you link .sunw in the /home/$USER
directory to /tmp on Solaris 10, you can then use applications and ssh out from the server. It looks to me like a pure Solaris issue but i still have failed to find a way to fix it.
The mount options i currently have on solaris are :
    rw,bg,nosuid,nfsver=3,tcp,intr,-w=32768,-r=32768
Also modified /etc/default/nfs to force NFS3 thinking it might have been the issue : NFS_CLIENT_VERSMAX=3
I have searched forums and search engines hoping to find an answer but have failed to see anything yet. As far as i can tell, it is a Solaris 10 issue but have no idea how to fix it.
    Thanks for any help,
    Steph

I also have this problem with FreeBSD 6.2 and Solaris 10 (was OK with Solaris 7 and 9).
The file system shared is about 30GB, and is FreeBSD on Sparc64.

    Hello Thomas,
It looks like a Solaris issue. Check if the home directory
/home is reserved in the Solaris configuration.
Check if this fix the problem please perform the following steps:
    1. modify /etc/auto_master file to change the entry for '/home' to say
       '/autohome' instead
    2. reboot
    3. rmdir /home
    4. ln -s /export/home /home (make sure /export/home exists)
Also you could create soladm manually in advance.
    Hope this helps,
    Dolores

  • Datasync seems not working properly in Portal 8.1 SP1 under Solaris

    Hi all,
We observe some inconsistence behavior for datasync in Development mode
    for Solaris and Windows.
For Windows: datasync will automatically propagate files to managed
    server node.
For Solaris: explicit datasync trigger is needed in datasync
    webapplication to propagate the data.
Can you help in this issue. Thanks.
    surfboy

    Hi,
If you open the p13n_ejb.jar you will find a configurable datasync-default.properties
file that sets how this operates. In production (EAR) mode, the datasync operates
out of the database, and boots from the EAR (not overwriting the db). However
in development mode, it runs from the filesystem. Even cooler - there is a command
line utility to query the datasync repository.
    ex:
    java -classpath C:\bea\weblogic81\p13n\lib\p13n_ejb.jar;C:\bea\weblogic81\p13n\lib\p13n_system.jar;C:\bea\weblogic81\server\lib\weblogic.jar

    it's particularly a Solaris issue as I don't have a Workshop instance

    it.
Never-the-less, it doesn't tend to see new data/ entries unless I explicitly

BTW - for anyone else who may not be familiar with this app, there is
    a
    datasync admin console at:

Finding this thing saved many hours of frustration...

  • Booting solaris with cd

    Hi All!
I got a annoying problem here, we have about 30 PCs installed with solaris 7, I want now to backup the ufs partition, where the solaris installation is on, my idea is to boot with a solaris cd, mount the backup file server via nfs, then dump the partition I want to backup with ufsdump, for restoring would be the same procedure, only with ufsrestore..
now my problem, because I'm still quite new treating solaris issues, I just don't know how to get the network connection after I have booted with the install cd ( after starting with the webstart I got a offer from the installer, that it wants to make a partition so that it can copy all the boot files, because I don't want to have any change on my harddisk, I said no and get a shell. with ifconfig I can only see the loop device, I also tried to make a /etc/hostname.elxl0 file, but the mounted ramdisk is read only.....
How can I get network connection after booting with the Install CD?
we have 3com network cards, all the PCs are in a nis+ network.
    thanks a looooot for answers
    Luotao Fu

I am at an early stage with this though I started some time ago. I downloaded all the Solaris files ending up with images named like sol-8-u7-ia-v1-a.zip.
    I unzipped the files.
I was not sure what to do next as I am seeing comments about renaming the files with a suffix .iso. I have not done this. I seem to have Easy CD Creator, (I can see now I have started the HP software I have) and have selected the data option. It has written the first of my files to CD. This is called sol-8-u7-ia-v1-a
I cannot boot from it, and do not know whether to change the bios to boot from CD.
Please could someone tell me where the definitive instructions are.
I found references to using downloading the DCA and putting it on to floppy. Well I have downloaded but at 1.44 Mb it will not write to a floppy!
    Thanks for any help

I have run this on both Solaris 8 and 9 servers with the same result.I have
also installed the N1 patches and still have the same result.
Anybody out there have this software up and working and provisioning
    Solaris?
Anybody out there have this problem and fix it?
The only way around this problem may be to alter osp_create_jet_template.sh in a manner such that it does not send
an error code-or hard wire the options passed by the program-either
way not good but perhaps the only way forward.
    Regards,
    Ian

    Hello!
Here is a KB that discusses that error:
Article ID: KB29599 AppWorld Web Plug-in Error appears when attempting to install applications from a computer
Unfortunately, all it contains is acknowledgement of the problem...not a solution. Hopefully, as the KB says, they are working on it and will release a fix sometime soon, but we here cannot know that in advance.
In the meantime, I recommend you use your device interface to BBWorld, not tethered to your PC/USB, and using WiFi so as to not consume your data plan.
Good luck and let us know!

I am not quite sure what either of you are after, but if you hit the "Documentation" link on OTN you will find the documentation, such as the above list, for almost all of Oracle products. Most are available online in HTML format or PDF and some have a part number so that they can be ordered.
The 10g Developer Suite Documentation is here: http://otn.oracle.com/documentation/dev10g.html

  • Data allowance and overages AM I CRAZY?

For the past 3 months, I have gotten the warning that I am approaching my data allowance early in my cycle period. The first month I chalked it up to my son being out of school for the summer and thought, we probably WERE using more data between us.
The second month upon getting the warning again, I upped my plan from 6MB to 8MB to keep from getting charged the 'overage' charge. I also had a long talk scolding my son, sure he had been doing something 'extra' that he shouldn't have been that once again had increased our data usage.
But here we are again- that warning saying I'm approaching my limit even earlier in the month than last time after I had increase it last month for the extra data (and charge!).
We(my son and myself) have been extra careful to turn data off at night to keep from anything running that would make this possible.
We've rarely used the phone except everyday calls and text(which are unlimited) and have even went days without turning data on at all on either phone to try and avoid this- so why am I still approaching this limit every month and so early? I've increased my data plan and am still hitting that mark earlier than I did at 6MB, it just doesn't make sense.
I can't prove anything concrete that this is something that verizon is doing to up my monthly bill, but do feel something just isn't right.
I've talked to CS and you know the drill- nothing is out of the ordinary on their end or ever their fault.
Of course I'm missing my unlimited data plan that I was forced to give up if I upgraded phones last year. It was either stick with the old phone and keep unlimited data plan, or switch to their 'new' data plans and get new phones. I had my previous phone for 4 yrs, it was time to upgrade. So I feel there really wasn't a choice. It was have a phone, or no phone.
And though I love my Galaxy SIII- What's the point of having it if I can't use it to its capacity without having to mortgage my home to do so???
Am I crazy for feeling this? Or are there others out there who feel their data usage has increased without explanation or contribution on your part toward it???

I have had the same issue and in the end of Oct and up until now the data usage has skyrocketed. I have not changed my usage in one year, I do not stream or download music and videos.  I called and they said they will send me a used jet pack, it is not my jet pack my iphone is not working right either. Well the issue is I have a new iphone and it can not connect to 4g even 3g at times, and has the lowest speed I have ever seen, sent text are not received, when I talk to people they tell me I am breaking up, internet pages will not load they time out.
This is not just a mifi jet pack issue it is network. The internet is running very very slow, keeps timing out, dropping internet on my jet pack and iphone.
I have read so many posts about data issues for the last three months, and Verizon is brushing it off. I was told by 3 techs that the data is getting burned up because it keeps pulling while loading a page, stops and starts over and it is burning up all my data. No refund for the whole month is did not work right. I still have very little use of my mifi and iphone accessing the internet. I have Verizon towers all around me and in one the best spots for Verizon, there is no excuse for this.

  • Unable to create node /home/ SID adm with type directory

I am currently experiencing a problem when trying to install a Java Stack onto my new SCM 7.0  EHP1 server.
    I receive the error:
    System call failed.  Error 89......mkdir..../home/djdadm....
(djd is the SID of my new Java AS)
This is followed by an error:
Unable to create node /home/djdadm with type directory
We have Solaris v10 (SPARC), and the ABAP stack has already been installed successfully.
The user djdadm was created manually on solaris before starting the installation (assigned to groups sapsys, dba, sapinst + oper) and the home directory "/usr/sap/DJD/home" was specified.
Note the difference in the home directory that it is trying to create to the one that we set against the new user djdadm.
This error is experienced quite early in when SAPINST is performing the tasks (and it stops at the Create users for SAP system stage).
I was experiencing a problem where SAPINST crashed completely for a while, so I've downloaded the latest version of SAPINST today.  Also, I've set a new TEMP folder and am running SAPINST from there, but am stuck at the problem mentioned above.
Any help would be much appreciated.
    Alistair Crawshaw

    Hello,
It looks like a Solaris issue. Check if the home directory /home is reserved in the Solaris configuration.
You may try this in that case:
    1. modify /etc/auto_master file to change the entry for '/home' to say
       '/autohome' instead
    2. reboot
    3. rmdir /home
    4. ln -s /export/home /home (make sure /export/home exists)

  • How to find size of the plsql packages

    Oracle : 10.2.0.4
    Os : Solaris
Issue : DB has around 2000 packages which are in development mode. In case If we want to find the size of all the packages what is the mechanism from the dictionary tables. ?
Is there way the size is being stored in the dictionary tables ?
    Pl. let me know.

Is there way the size is being stored in the dictionary tables ?Source code is stored in the dictionary table sys.source$ - it is a very basic table with only 3 columns. OBJ# refers to the object in sys.objects$, LINE is the source code line number and SOURCE contains the line of source code.
So you can use the LENGTH() function and SUM() that and group by object to get each object's size. But this will be pretty meaningless as source code is not what is loaded and executed - compiled (aka p-code ) is loaded into memory and executed.
Obviously, more source code means a bigger sys.source$ table - but that is fairly easily addressed by ensuring that the SYSTEM tablespace is large enough.

  • Imta.cnf - had to add nameservers to tcp_local channel?

I am working through a new installation of Sun Messaging Server. I was unable to send email outside of my domain and after a fair bit of debugging, I found that the MX lookups were failing. Being unfamiliar with the imta.cnf file (only been working with this a week) I finally figured out that what I needed to edit was tcp_local.
I had to add the followint to tcp_local to get it to work...
    ! tcp_local
tcp_local smtp nameservers xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx ... rest of defaults here...
My question is this... when I do a nslookup from the command line, things work. So, why would I have had to add the nameservers entry into imta.cnf?

However, like I say, any message I sent to myself at gmail.com (or any other domain) sat in the queue forever. If I looked at the messages in the tcp_local queue, they all complained about MX failing.

Can anyone help me out here?

Hm. I know of no such problem on Solaris. I run it on Solaris, myself, and have never seen anythikng like this.
You're sure that you had no DNS problem, that has since gone away?
You are letting nscd run? (there is a Solaris issue that running nscd works around, where if more than 256 dns lookups are done at one time, a buffer overflows)
