Wanna create a connection

Hi,
Within Jdeveloper, I try to create one JDBC connection. I've put the SID name and the right Port number that we have within tnsnames.ora. I've chosen 'thin' Driver and have put that host name (also from tnsnames.ora) together with the right SID. But i'm with this problem even if I've put the right login name/password.
Test failed: ORA-01017: invalid username/password; logon denied
I don't have any problem from the Oracle client using Sql plus.
Rgds,
HuaMin

Hi,
It is always a good to post the following when you ask for any help, which would help us to understand the issue and provide a good solution, instead of guessing and providing "some" solution.
1. JDeveloper version.
2. Technology stack used.
3. Database version.
4. OS on which you are trying.
AFA your error is concerned, it is pretty clear that you are supplying invalid username/password. Did you try with scott/tiger? FYI, if your db is 11g, passwords are case sensitive.

  • Wanna create a different application to update employee information.!!!!!!

Well i have transferred an xcel sheet to oracle10g and created and application using forms 6i. The thing is some fields in excel sheet gets updated every month.
    Like:HOLIDAYS AVAILABLE, HOLIDAYS AVAIL,EVALUATION.
I wanna create a seperate application to update this specific tables in oracle10g using 6i.
FOR EX.Once concerned person gets the monthly xcel sheet he just needs to type the emp number and enter the associated values in the respective fields clicks UPDATE button the old value gets over written(update) with the new value.
I would really be glad if some one could provide me with a code to update tables in oracle 10g using 6i for even one column i.e HOLIDAYS AVAILABLE .......
The thing is i am a newbie in the field of forms n report...!!!!!!!!!!!!! and i m on a probation period here...so plz guyz i desperately need helppppppppppppppppppppp!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Hi!
    - open the forms builder, connect as user who owns the desired table
    - create a new form (file - new - form) in the menu, give it a name and save it
    - in the navigator click on datablocks
    - click the green +* in the left vertical toolbar
    - use the datablock wizzard to create a new block (basing on a database table)
    - choose table or view and click next
    - in the table or view field type the table name and click refresh
    - put every desired field in the field database objects and click next
    - do not use the relation screen and click next
    - give the datablock a name or keep the default. Click Finish ^(?: my forms is german ...)^
    - The layout wizzard getting started. Choose "new canvas" and click next.
    - choose the columns you want to see in your form. click next
    - May change the field-prompts, width and height. This can be done later too. click next
    - choose if you want to display the fields like a form or like a grid. click next
    - forms will create a border around your fields. Choose the title, displayed records and if you want a scrollbar. click next
    - choose Finish and look at this nice screen :)
Save the form (ctrl-s) and compile it (ctrl-t).
    - let it run! (ctrl-r)
    - press F8. If there is already data in your table, you will see the first record or more.
Be careful! if your table is a production table, changing values in the fields
and save (commit) the changes will immediate change the data in the database table.
Good luck and have fun !

  • Unexpected Behavior error while creating a connection in IDT

    Hi Everyone,
I have created a connection on top of a database using ODBC.
I could able to see the connection in IDT.
I have mentioned the user name and pw correctly  and tried testing the connection and got the error "unexpected behavior"
    PFA error.
what could be the reason? any idea?
    Thanks.

I find this 32-bit vs. 64-bit ODBC somewhat confusing.  I know you aren't dealing with Crystal Reports, but this blog post does provide some clarity.  It has a link to this Microsoft knowledge base article from which I quote...
A 64-bit version of the Microsoft Windows operating system includes the following versions of the
Microsoft Open Database Connectivity (ODBC) Data Source Administrator tool (Odbcad32.exe):
The 32-bit version of the Odbcad32.exe file is located in the %systemdrive%\Windows\SysWoW64 folder.
The 64-bit version of the Odbcad32.exe file is located in the %systemdrive%\Windows\System32 folder.
One other warning.  In my experience I have found that you cannot run both the 32-bit and 64-bit ODBC admin tools at the same time.  If you have one running and try and start the other one it will just bring up the one you already had running.
To make sure I know which instance I am in at any give time I have created a dummy data source that corresponds to the instance; 32-bit or 64-bit.
Let us know how it goes.

  • Create A Connection Pool In the ServletContextListener

The Specification says that we should create the connection pool in the ServletContextListener. I have the code for creating a connection pool (see below). How do I create it in the ServletContextListener?

  • 11g 64-bit unable to create ODBC connection

    Hello,
I am currently facing issue related to ODBC connection. Details of configuration is as follows
    OS: Vista 64 Home Premium
Oracle DB 11g 64bit: ver 11.1.0.6.0,plus the addition of the fix for bug 7389110 (as per release notes)
    ODBC driver location: C:\app\oracle\product\11.1.0\db1\BIN\sqora32.dll
It appears and works well from 32 bit ODBC connection manager. However, it's not visible/available from 64 bit ODBC connection manager. Oracle installation repository appears under 64 bit area ("Program Files") and not under "Program Files (x86)". Assuming it might be a problem with installation I have also tried copying registry entries under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\ODBC with no luck.
Any help to create ODBC connection is much appreciated
    Thanks,
    Hemant
Please do not respond to this question here. I am moving it to ODBC forum area

  • How do I create a connection string to sql server?

    Hi All,
I am currently connecting to a SQL Server via ODBC DSN connection. I am wondering how do I create a connection string directly to a sql server without a DSN connection?
    Thank you in advance.

If you have SQL Server or client installed in your machine you can directly connect to SQL server using native connection. When you create new report you can see the option create new connection, here you can see SQL Server. Expand it and enter the connection details where you will be directly connected to SQL Server without ODBC connection.

  • How to Create a connection pool in OSB java callout

    Dear Team,
In our project, we need read some data from DB, and do corresponding operation. currently, we need setup the connection first, execute the SQL, and close the connection.
But the concurrency of call is very high, is there a way to create a connection pool, then we can use the connection pool to get the connection and execute the SQL, then return the connection to the pool.
if connection pool is not available, is there any way to create the connection outside the java callout, that we can just execute the SQL in java callout.
    The OSB version is 11.1.1.6.0
    Thanks.

    Hi Team,
    Thanks for your help.
What I need is not only the db connection, may be other kind of things, such as read configuration from file...
If I write the code in java callout with static java method to create and close the connection, each time when request come in, OSB will create a new connection (or read the file), I think it's not the best practice to do this kind of work.
I think the weblogic is running in JVM, is there any way we can define variables or new object in the JVM directly?

    Hi,
You cannot connect to an Oracle9iAS environment directly using the connections node. You can only connect to an individual OC4J instance using this technique.
You need to use Oracle9iAS Distributed Management Configuration (DCM). See JDeveloper Help under Creating Application Server Connections

    Sorry Praveen,
I misunderstood the question i thought you are creating OLAP connection.
