Want a Simple Way to Insert a Simple Picture

I'm having trouble inserting a simple picture into a pages document. I don't care about anything fancy, the document is an academic paper and I just want a simple diagram with a few boxes and arrows. No colors, animation, bitmaps, etc. I created the diagram in Keynote first. Then I grouped all the boxes and arrows into one object and copied the object. Then I pasted the object into the Pages document. What I expected is the text would wrap around it and i might have to tweak that a bit. My preference is just to have text above and below the picture, no fancy text wrapping, the picture is wide enough it takes up the width of most of the page anyway. But the text and image seem to blur together.
Just to be clear, what I want should have the following layout shown in quotes below:
"Blah, blah, blah...as we can see in the diagram 1 below:
BOXES AND ARROW PICTURE GOES HERE
As we can see in diagram 1 above..."
I've tried anchoring the text with "below:" or "As we can see" but I can't figure out how to change the anchor. I position the cursor where I want the image to be (in the blank space that says BOXES above) but it seems to want to place it higher up (the little blue anchor thing isn't where I expect but further up in the paragraph) and I can't figure out how to change it and I've even -- and this just shows how desperate I am -- looked at the documentation and still can't figure it out.
I also tried various hacks like inserting a bunch of line breaks or even a new page all on it's own and the picture still ends up getting displayed strange. The picture takes up about .75 the width and .25 the height of a single page.
I know I must be doing something stupid and am probably missing something very basic. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Yes, Pages 5.2.
Thanks I'll try that.
Regarding where I draw the picture, are you saying it would be easier with Pages or should the behavior be pretty much equivalent either way?
I've always preferred using some simple graphics tool like Powerpoint or now Keynote for diagrams because I usually have lots of diagrams and I like to have them in a separate tool, sort of a repository for the pictures. Also, as in this case, the picture started out as part of a presentation and I think will migrate back to a presentation. For consistency and because at least with previous tools you could do more with graphics in a presentation tool I always have done it that way. But if the drawing tool in Pages works better I could use that.

  • Simple way to insert data from one table

    Hi,
    I need to know a simple way on how to transfer the data from one table to another....
    First table xx_inv_tab1 has three columns col1, col2, col3 and where as second table xx_inv_tab2 has five columns col1, col2, col3, col4, col5.
    Here col2, col3, col4 are the same columns as in table1 xx_inv_tab1...
    Now I want to transfer first table data in to second table .... first column of second table holds a sequence, followed by the first table three columns data and followed with col4 and col5 which will hold NULL values....
    In my scenario, I have 70 - 75 columns in my first table which I want to move to second table which three new columns (one is sequence and other two has null values)...
    Any ideas if we make it in a simplest way rather saying insert into xx_inv_tab2 (col1, col2, col3 ............................................. col75) values (seq, col1, col2..........................col75, null, null)
    Help Appreciated..
    Thanks

    Easy
    untested
    insert into xx_inv_tab2 t2 (col1,col2,col3,col4)
    select yourSequence.nextval, t1.col1, t1.col2, t1.col3
    from xx_inv_tab1 t1
    ;Note that col5 does not need to be used, since you want to fill it with NULL.
    USe excel or sql developer to write you a list of column names, if you are to lazy to write all 75 columns by yourself.
    What might also work:
    untested
    insert into xx_inv_tab2 t2
    select yourSequence.nextval, t1.*, null
    from xx_inv_tab1 t1

  • Simple way to insert  custom Jquery Slideshows and Plugins in Muse

    Hi guys, I know the Adobe Muse team is working hard to make this revolutionary tool better by the day. They have done a lot of foundation work to get this tool up to this state. I say congrates guys keep the good work on.
    But before we get to the promised land. I know a lot of 'creative non-coders' still want to take up the challenge of doing some cool stuff spread around the internet nowadays such as jquery fullscreen image slideshow, fullscreen image jquery sliders, etc. But Muse is not there yet. I believe the next release will enable designers to take advantage of the height feature missing right now(I just believe so, no insider hint, please don't quote me.).
    Okay let me not bore you.
    Now I have noticed you can bring any slideshow into Muse if you have the bravery to do it. It's so simple. See this: www.dynamicarchitecturaldesign.com.
    The slideshow was a backstretch jquery plugin with some custom javascript to load the page before displaying the page.
    The trick is,  follow the instruction provided by the author of any of this script, especially the ones relating to the jquery-1.4min.js... jquery-1.7.min.js... upto the latest version that could possibly be available. Note: Adobe Muse also have almost the latest version of the jquery plugin. So after authoring your stuff in Adobe Muse, export as HTML then move and replace any of the code provided by the author of the code you intent to use with the one that Muse generates always:
    <script src="http://musecdn.businesscatalyst.com/scripts/1.1/jquery-1.7.min.js" type="text/javascript"></script>
    This is often placed toward thge bottom section before the closing </body> and </html> tags. Move it up to the head section using notepad or DW. Though this is not the intended workflow by the Muse team, but it gives you the edge to do stuff you want to do.

    Okay Maurya, am suggesting the Muse dev team can take a cue from the edge team. In the publishing setting of Edge their is an option for Framework via CDN! Introducing this feature into Muse will go along way to enhance the workflow of psuedo-developers using Muse  to cut down on web design time.  if I have some jquery codes for slideshows and so on that I have lifted from some places or purchased on the internet, I can conveniently place the codes as usual where they need to be and on export  indicate to Muse whether I want it to include its own code:
    "http://musecdn.businesscatalyst.com/scripts/1.1/jquery-1.7.min.jswhich has been further modified in the new beta 2 release as:
    <script type="text/javascript">
       if (document.location.protocol != 'https:') document.write('\x3Cscript src="http://musecdn.businesscatalyst.com/scripts/1.1/jquery-1.7.min.js" type="text/javascript">\x3C/script>');
    </script>
    in the export and during publish (a publish setting kinda of could be added to the preference area) or use my own framwork that I have included in the head section. So Muse will not include the above jquery musecdn...  in the publish version. That way you are giving us more control and winning more developers over to Muse and of course more money for Adobe . • I have worked out a simple way to put a single picture in the background on a two-page spread!

    Please remember, if you have been working on your book, click on Create Saved Book to save your book BEFORE you do this.  You can lose all your work up until the point where you create a saved book.  After that, it appears on the left menu bar under Collections with whatever name you saved it under.  Your book will most likely not appear when you click back on the Book module after leaving it.  Don't panic - it hasn't disappeared.  If you clicked Create Saved Book to begin with - it's there under Collections.
    So here's the exciting bit (well the solution anyway):
    Click on the picture you want to use as your two-page spread
    STEP 1 - In the Library module
    select your image (e.g. X.jpg) and right click on "Export..."
    send a copy of this picture to "Same folder as original photo" (DON'T overwrite! remember to use a unique name, such as X_1.jpg)
    then repeat to create another copy (use another unique name, such as X_2.jpg)
    STEP 2 - In the Develop module, take X_1 and:
    click on Crop Overlay (the dotted rectangle at the top of the right menu, just below the histogram)
    select a region that is 50% of the width of your original image (easiest is to click on Custom and enter original height plus half original width)
    click on the middle of crop region (hand grab icon) and drag the image all the way to the RIGHT
    click again on the dotted rectangle
    X_1 will now be an image that is just the LEFT half of your original image.
    STEP 3 - In the Develop module, then take X_2 and:
    click on Crop Overlay
    select the same region that you used for step 2
    click on the middle of crop region (hand grab icon) and drag the image all the way to the LEFT
    click again on the dotted rectangle
    X_2 will now be an image that is just the RIGHT half of your original image.
    STEP 4 - In the Library module
    select the folder your original photo was in
    find your two new copies of that photo
    drag them to your book situated in the Collections folder on the left menu bar
    STEP 5 - Look under Collections and click on your book and then in the Book module
    in the Background section (right side menu), UNcheck "Apply Background Globally"
    to the right of the small rectangle below that, click on the tiny arrowhead and make sure "Photos" is selected
    select the left page of your spread and drag X_1 (the left half) onto the rectangle
    select the right page of your spread and drag X_1 (the right half) onto the rectangle
    DONE!
    Of course, you can now select any of the existing templates for your left and right pages.  Remember, if you don't fill a particular template frame with a photo, it remains blank in the finished product (you can always check the preview in the top left corner in Spread View mode).  For example you could pick a 4 x 4 template and only use the top three outer frames on the outer edge of both pages.
    Have fun!  I was so excited when I finally worked out this work-around

    I have an even simpler method. I use MyPublisher to print my books. I select their page layout for a two-page spread, drag and drop the image. DONE!  I understand that most people have their favorite places to have work done. I have been extremely pleased with MyPublisher.com, so I haven't even tried the book module in Lightroom.

    I just got new ipad mini....I want to delete all of the music that was synced from my itunes account.  I have went through and deleted some songs one by one but some have a cloud icon with a red arrow on them.....is there a simple way just to delete them?

    Yes there is. Those songs are not actually on your iPad. They are in iCloud ready for download if you choose to do so. If you want to remove them go to Settings>iTunes & App Store>Show All>Music>Off. You can also do this in Settings>Music>Show All Music>Off.

  • I've created a prproj file and want to create a master DVD.  Is there a simple way to do this?

    I've created a prproj file and want to create a master DVD. Is there a simple way to do this?

    I'm not sure I would call disk authoring a 'simple' process.  Unless it's a very basic disk, or course, with but a single timeline and no menus.  But the kind of disk we're using to seeing from Hollywood is anything but simple to create, and so not so simple to explain.
    Might be time for some research.

  • Whether there is a simple way to add new Mapping operators on a mapping?

    Whether there is a simple way to add new Mapping operators on existing mapping?
    For example I have a mapping, but now I need to add new Filter or Aggregator operator, so I must delete all connections between attributes, then add new operator, connect source attributes to the input attribute for the operator and so on.
    Is there way to turn down this operations, simply drop new operator on source object or on a connection between two objects, and necessary operations will be automatically executed.
    As I remember in OWB2 something similar existed in a way to add new Filter operator.

    Dmitry,
    Unfortunately there is not. What you should aim for, is to use the group-by-group mapping using match by name (with some additional options, such as ignore source/target prefix, suffix, etc.).
    I.e. if you want to insert another operator, then I recommend you first populate attributes based on an operator that is currently on the mapping delete the old operator (to delete all connections), map into the new operator and add another operator in order to re-create what you previously had. I know it is not ideal... but in my experience it is the most productive way to work.
    Thanks,
    Mark.

  • Simple way to change color of field in an interactive report

    Is there a simple way with css to change the color of a field in an interactive report. I want certain fields to stand out.
    Can you provide an example and where the code is inserted in APEX? TY.

    jfr620 wrote:
    Is there a simple way with css to change the color of a field in an interactive report. I want certain fields to stand out.On what basis?
    The appearance of cells based on the report structure can be controlled using CSS: +{message:id=10373505}+
    Conditional formatting based on cell values is better handled using the built-in highlighting, or Dynamic Actions/JavaScript, which provide better separation of concerns than generating HTML in the query: +{message:id=10493230}+
    (For even better separation, use the Dynamic Action to apply <tt>class</tt>es rather than setting style properties directly, and use separate CSS rules to apply the formatting.)

  • SIMPLER Way to write this in a sql or plsql

    I have a select as below where its output can be single row or multiple rows or zero rows. select can bring values of NULL, R, C,O
    A) In case of zero rows I want ln_status to be '#'
    B) in case if there is atleast one row with O, ln_status should be O
    C) if criteria A and B is not met,  in case if there is atleast one closed, ln_status should be C
    D) If Only one record with R , ln_Status should be 'O'
    is it possible to write in simpler way without querying multiple times or using plsql. thanks
    select status INTO ln_status
    from  TableA
    where col1=<col1>

    Hi,
    Depending on your requirements, where Chris used
    when max(status) is null then '#'
    you might want
    WHEN  COUNT (*) = 0   THEN '#'
    instead.
    I hope this answers your question.
    If not, post a little sample data (CREATE TABLE and INSERT statements, relevant columns only) for all the tables involved, and the results you want from that data.
    Post your query, using a CASE expression like Chris posted above, point out where that query is producing the wrong results, and explain, using specific examples, how you get the right results from the given data in those places.

    Is there a (relatively simple) way to skip tracks with an iPod touch 5th gen using a physical button? I'm aware songs can be skipped on-screen without unlocking the iPod, but I'm looking for a method that doesn't require taking my eyes off the road while driving. For that reason, I'm also not interested in adding in headphones or additional devices that have the desired button functions. Going both forward and back would be great but I would be pleased just to have a "sight-free" way to go forward.
    I've seen some mention here and there about ways to maybe change it so the volume buttons change tracks and holding the volume buttons changes the volume... but I don't know what's involved in that or if its even possible/recommended for a new 5th gen iPod. I think its a great device but its sadly lacking in music oriented functions and features... which is disappointing since music is why most people would bother getting one instead of some other "iDevice" :/

    Given that you cannot do what you have asked for, perhaps you simply need to find another solution to your root problem.
    Presumably, you want to skip to the next track because you don't want to hear the current one, and that is because...
    You don't like it.
    You've heard it recently and don't want to hear it now.
    Simply don't want to hear it at this time.
    For problem number 1. Don't put it on the iPod in the first place. (I know, obvious answer!)
    For problem number 2. How about playing from a Smart Playlist (initially created in your iTunes Library) which has only songs you've not played recently?
    For problem number 3. Hhhmmm! Create alternative Playlists for use in the car.
    As for going back to the start of the "now playing" track.... Well, if your Playlist has only songs that you really, really want to hear, then you'll be looking forward to that rather go back to the beginning of the current song.
    I'm not trying to be prescriptive, just giving you food for thought.
    (They are all cheaper options than buying a car which can control the iPod from the steering wheel.)

  • Best event handling way making the code simple

    Hi all,
    I want to develop a JFrame thats all the componets inside the JFrame have methods (that are owned by JFrame the class) like "compNameClicked", "compNameChanged", "compNameArranged". The JFrame would be like this below...
    class MyFrame extends JFrame
          //Datamembers
          comp1Name declaration
          comp2Name declaration
          comp3Name declaration
          //Methods
          comp1NameClicked() {...}
          comp1NameChanged() {...}
          comp1NameArranged() {...}
          comp2NameChanged() {...}
          comp3NameClicked() {...}
    How will i register this "event handling" methods to the componets? I want to use this techique to retain the simplicity of the code. If there is a more simple way for event hadling, please let me know about it.
    thank you for advance, kostas

  • Simple way to export a report to PDF on demand in CR Server 2008?

    Hi,
    I have this intranet application written in JavaScript with smidgens of c# that I'm modifying for a client.  They've decided to purchase Crystal Server 2008 and they want their application to call Crystal Server 2008 and export a report to PDF to a folder on the intranet server.
    I've been beating my head against the wall trying to find a simple way to do this but I'm coming up blank.  Maybe my approach is wrong.
    I've tried the .Net SDK (wssdk_net_samples_12) and apparently it's doesn't work... exactly.  I've been told they're going to get a working SDK for .Net > Crystal Server 2008 before the end of September(they hope).
    I've tried the URL reporting and it almost does what I'm looking for.  I can call a report directly using the URL... unfortunately it's wrapped in an HTML file and I can't figure out how to get just the PDF out of it.
    Does anyone know how I can do this?
    I'm just looking to send some info to the Crystal Server 2008 and have it send back a PDF.
    Thanks in advance,
    J

    Hi Jason,
    This question might be better addressed on the .NET forum:
    .NET SDK Application Development
    -or-
    SAP Crystal Reports, version for Visual Studio
    I recommend that you post this question on that forum.

  • Any simple way to do popup image view overlay in DW? Can't get pickachoose+fancybox+fluid working

    Hey all,
    Just wondering if anyone knows any simple ways to create a popup over lay window like what fancybox/lightbox/shadow box does and get it to work with a Dreamwever fluid grid site?
    I've got pikachoose+fancy box to run together perfectly in a plain html page, but when I bring that code into a Dreamweaver fluid grid site, the code doesn't work (well images don't cycle, and popover doesnt load when you click on the image link).
    I'm guessing it's a jquery conflict of some kind.

  • IS THERE ANY SIMPLE WAY TO RETURN SPEED PERFORMANCE TO FACTORY SPEED AFTER ABOUT 3 YEARS OF RELATIVELY STANDARD USE?

    Everyone is often so quick to bash all these 'cleaning' utilities but rarely give any solutions.
    There's a lot of critiques and endless lists of what NOT to do to avoid performance problems.
    My Powerbook is 3 years old. It runs like molasses... SLOW.
    I'm not a computer geek, but I'm smart and understand quite a bit more than a newbie.
    Do I need a degree in computer engineering to fix/speed up my mac?
    Yes, I know, the cleaning utilities suck. But is it really true of all of them?
    I'm not totally convinced because there seems to be such a huge market for them.
    Sure, there's a huge market for bottled water too, so maybe they are just useless/marketing crap, but I really want to return to my original speed performance quickly and can't seem to find out if it's possible with a utility.
    I'm not willing to sit down for 3 hours and study line by line b.s. about how to fix it.
    I have no problem if it's not fixable. I've always assumed operating systems outgrow their hardware's capacity to keep up, and sell my old one for a new one, no prob.
    I don't care, really, but again, I'm curious if there is any quick, easy, user-friendly utility or method that I can use to return the speed performance I had as recently as a year ago? (I'd be satisfied with that).
    Anyone willing to bite on that? Anyone willing to not critique, complain, tell me what NOT to do and actually know a solution?
    IS THERE ANY SIMPLE WAY TO RETURN SPEED PERFORMANCE BACK TO (OR CLOSE TO) ORIGINAL FACTORY SPEED AFTER ABOUT 3 YEARS OF RELATIVELY STANDARD USE?
    The only thing I may have done outside of the norm was some video editing, but very little.
