Want better way to clean MacBook Air screen
I have a 2011 MacBook AIr 13". The cleaning instructions suggest a damp cloth for cleaning the screen. That does a decent job, but leaves water spots. I wonder if there is a good, established alternative that might leave the screen even more clean, without damage.
You should NEVER have greasy prints on the screen, because nobody should be touching it.......ever.
NEVER think of using WIndex on the screen, its coated and thats a horrible idea.
If there are smudges on the screen, use a few drops on cotton cloth of water from bottled water with no minerals or impurities in it,
immediately use soft end of cloth to wipe.

i dont know what you mean by "a soft screen", but read this: To clean the screen on your MacBook, MacBook Pro, or MacBook Air, first shut down the computer and unplug the power adapter. Dampen the included cleaning cloth with just water and wipe the screen. Do not spray liquid directly onto the screen.

I've been trying to find information comparing the late 2011 15" Macbook Pro with high-res screen vs the 11" or 13" macbook air screens but I could only find one answer saying that the color gamut on the MBP is much better (wider) that on the MBA.
I think I've been around the other factosr (speed, memory, weight, size, etc..) between MBP and MBA but the last thing I wanted to figure out was the screen. I am into photography and I wanted an Apple laptop that shows the "best" colors. I think that will definitely make an enormous difference in my decision between MBP and MBA.
Any thougts on that? Maybe you know some tests that have been done on color rendition?
I was going to post this in the MBA discussion section but I thought I'd see what kind of feedback I can get here first.
thanks a lot!!The MacBook Pro 13" screen resultion is1440 x 900 which is actually higher than the 13" MacBook Pro, which has a 1280 x 800 screen. In fact, the MBA 13's resolution is equivalent to the MBP 15's resolution, which is also 1440 x 900. So, if you are looking at that point, and that point only, the 13" MBA is pretty nice. It's the lack of a dedicated graphics card, limited RAM (I believe it's soldered into the motherboard), slower CPU (dual core i5), no Super Drive and a few other things that swing it over to the 15"MBP.
I think the MBA has it's place. It's a big step above the iPad in usability. But it's a big step down from the upper end of the MBP platform. The only place where it gets close to flipping a coin is the 13" MBP vs. MBA. I'd take the MBA almost every time. -
Does anyone know if it is safe to use Kensington's Screen Guardian to clean a MacBook Pro screen? The product contains: Water, 2-Butoxyethanol and Ethanol. Also can this cleaner be used on an iMac and a iPod Touch screens. Thanks for your help.
Apple recommends against using any cleaner with alcohol or ammonia to clean any LCD screen. Those chemicals may damage the screen coating. The best way to clean a laptop screen is to use a microfiber wipe (such as those sold to clean eyeglasses) or a damp ( not wet) soft lint-free cloth. For more information, see:

Butyl cellusolve, a component of Screen Guardian (according to their material safety data sheet), is neurotoxic among other toxicities, by the way, so I'd avoid it even if it weren't risky on LCDs.

Started about 12 months ago randomly, the screen will just turn bright colours & is unreadable, the only way to remove it is to shut down & restart from on/off button....

Is there a way for my macbook air (running Lion 10.7.2) to access an external hard drive on my Imac (running snow leopard 10.6.8) specifically for Iphoto and itunes?
Yes. For those two applications specifically there is sharing. This presumes both computers are on and connected to the same network.
In iPhoto, enable sharing by (on the iMac) going to the iPhoto menu > Preferences > Sharing > check Share my photos. You can either share the entire library or only selected albums. Now on your MacBook Air, in iPhoto, go to the same preference pane and select Look for shared photos.
iTunes has something similar. In the iTunes menu > Preferences > Sharing > check Share my library on my local network. On the other computer, look in the left column for SHARED and select the iMac. You can now play that music on the MacBook Air.
There are other ways to share files but for those two applications this is the simplest way.

The MacBook Pro has higher specifications, depending
on the model, and then CTO additional upgrades.
The Air does not have a Retina display, but has lesser
specs, so that may make a difference. They still offer a
low-end MB/Pro w/ optical drive, w/o Retina; specs vary;
it may work in your instance. You'd have 14 days to take
a new Apple computer back, so keep that in mind.

You don't provide enough information onto which anyone could reasonably formulate an answer.
As mentioned, you don't indicate the circumstances that would warrant consideration of multiple partitions. Moreover, you also don't indoicate the size of the SSD in question.
Like Fred said, ordinarily you leave it alone as one. Some people like to keep data and the OS/apps separate, but it is for specific reasons. -
I was using my wife's MacAir while my Macbook was in for repairs and now all of my printers want to do through her Macbook Air and unless it is on and on our home wireless, I can't print. Is there an easy "fix" for this?
