Want docked iPhone to use Bluetooth for Nav (Waze, GoogleMaps, etc.) when on non-Aux (radio or Sirius)

I have an iPhone 5.  I also have a 2007 Mercedes E350.  I have a Viseeo Bluetooth device which pairs with my phone for calls only (it is instead of the MB brand Bluetooth device that does the exact same thing).  For my dock I have an iPhone 5 style plug attached to a cradle with a 30 pin connector on the the other end.  That plugs into a 30 pin cord that splits to a USB cord (for power and is attached to a cigarette lighter plug) and a standard headphone like jack that goes into my MP3 port in the glove box.  That way, I can power my phone and get "line out" quality from my iPhone played through the stereo when it is set to Aux.  It is also more convenient as the plug to the iPhone is at the bottom of my holder, so I only have to slip the iPhone into the cradle.
Regardless if I'm listening to my Sirius radio or the regular radio, if a call comes in the BT picks it up and plays through the speakers, albeit at telephone quality, not music quality.  So, I know the iPhone and the BT are connected.
Likewise, if I do not have the iPhone in the dock and I'm using a navigation program, like Waze or Google Maps, it will interrupt the radio and give me the instructions over the same telephone connection.  Again, that means the iPhone and the BT are connected for the Nav program as well.
If I have iPhone in the dock (cradle) and I have the Benz stereo set to Aux the Nav program plays through the stereo with much better quality than the normal BT/Telephone quality.  That is all fine and good.
Here is my problem:  when I put my iPhone into the dock the Nav programs will then only play the turn announcements if I have the Benz stereo set to Aux.  For some reason they do not/cannot detect that even though I'm in plugged into the stereo (Aux), that is not the selected source and should therefore use the BT.
Are there settings I'm missing to have either of those Nav programs use the BT for the turn announcements even if docked, but the dock is not the currently selected source on my stereo?
Is there any Nav program that will work as I want?
Thanks,
Stuart

The problem isn't that the app (in this case my Nav program) prefers the dock out when it is docked, heck, I'd rather hear the sound through my stereo in the car than the Bluetooth phone quality, the problem is that it can't detect that it isn't the active connection.  It seems there should be some communication between the iPhone and what it is connected to, to see if it is the active out.  That is, when I'm listening to a CD/DVD or the radio or Sirius/XM the iPhone should tell Nav program that the dock isn't active and it would then use the Bluetooth.

    Hi there.
I connected to my livebox after about three attempts. You have to pair the livebox by pressing either the number one or two that is on the box. When it is in pair mode it stays that way for ten minutes so it gives you chance to try your wep code that is on the bottom of the box a few times. I can't remember which one was successful but i did try the letters in uppercase and lower and one of them seemed to connect.
Welcome to discussions by the way.
    Hope this helps JB

my pc cannot connect to iphone 4 using bluetooth, says no bluetooth driver.

What exactly are you trying to achieve by connecting via bluetooth? If you have a tethering plan, that's the only thing that's supported via bluetooth to a computer. It cannot sync or transfer files via bluetooth. Those are not features of the iPhone.

Roadrunner is POP email, and the feature you are looking for
is a function of IMAP email. Roadrunner has not announced
any plans to make IMAP available. If this is important to you,
get a gmail account (which can be setup as IMAP)  and configure

Yesterday, When I tried to use it again it's saying that it is disabled for 22 million mins. I treid to restore it by connecting to iTunes but it's not restoring. Kindly Help.

Thanks for that. Much more constructive than the last comment. It's only the restriction code I can't recall, not the access passcode. So I can currently access the device, just not age restricted content. Does that's make a difference? I also wondered if anyone knew how many attempts you get to try to get it right. Now tried 21 times and so far nothing bad has happened but I am concerned I'll eventually be completely locked out of the device. That doesn't seem in the spirit of things though. Surely it's foreseeable that a child could repeatedly try to guess the code so I can't see that it would be right to lock the device down completely in that circumstance, particularly if the access code is being typed in correctly every time.
    Thanks

  • Having trouble with connecting my iphone and macbook air using bluetooth for internet tethering

    Hi,
I am facing an issue connecting my iPhone5 to my Macbook Air using bluetooth primarily for internet tethering - personal hotspot.
Every time I try to pair my iPhone with the Macbook Air, I get the error on the iPhone that 'the device that I am trying to connect is not supported'.
Can anyone provide assistance to me on resolving this issue.
    Thankyou,
    Ashwani

You can't resolve it using bluetooth because it is not a feature you can use here are the supported files for bluetooth http://support.apple.com/kb/ht3647
YOu will have to contact your carrier and enable personal hotspot as suggested by questionaire.

  • Can I use bluetooth for data transfer to/from iPhone?

I was wondering why I cant get my iPhone Bluetooth feature to work/connect with a Razor phone...
Can I not hook up, using Bluetooth, to another phone and recieve ringtones?
Or am I not doing something right in the Bluetooth mode?
    Any help would be great!!!

The iPhone's bluetooth is limited at the moment to bluetooth headsets and car kits
Even if you would succeed in pairing it you cannot transfer any type of files from it to the other phone

  • How to use bluetooth for data transmission

    Hi,
we would like to use the Iphone touch for display external data over bluetooth.
This is what we want to do:
    - Have a own App
    - Connection over bluetooth
The simplest system could be an Temperature and Humidity sensor with microcontroler and bluetooth module. Data should be send in SPP (serial Port Profile).
Now I have seen that SPP profile is not available on Iphone or Ipod.
Is there a chance to connect over other way and bluetooth ?
Do have anyone tip or know-how to do that and is there a chance
do make app legal for App store ?
    Thanks, for many helps !

HID Profile is a "Human Interface Device Profile", this allows connections between bluetooth keyboards, and similar devices. It's basically a "human convenience" that lets a user make input through another device.
The PAN Profile ("Personal Area Network) is a profile that can actually transmit and receive data. The data though is limited to peer-to-peer gaming (games that can be played with others in the vicinity). A good example is the Rock Band multiplayer, where players join up using Bluetooth (and not Wi-Fi, to prevent lag).
I believe there isn't any reverse HID applications (remotely using the HID from the iPod), most app that do that are wi-fi transmitted, since there's no need for a long, direct, connection. Examples are the Apple Remote, ADT Security, and OnStar. These all allow you to access your devices that are kept on your wireless signal (OnStar uses some sort of cell phone reception to put your car on a network).

  • I am trying to pair my iphone 5 with an iphone 4 using bluetooth, neither phone recognises the other-Why?

Can somebody please help me: I have recently upgraded from an iPhone 4 to an iPhone 5, I want to transfer my pictures from my new phone from the old phone using bluetooth. However, neither phone recognises the other-Why Not? I can pair my iPhone 5 with my Ford S-Max easily but cannot pair with my old phone. I would really appreciate somebody telling me what, if anything, I am doing wrong. Although just switching on bluetooth is easy. Both phones continually show 'searching' but do not actually find one another even though they are side by side. Any help would be much appreciated.

This has never been a feature of the iphone, ipod touch or ipad.
    File transfer is not supported.
Iphone supports bluetooth for stereo headsets/speakers, handsfree telephone devices/headsets, some keyboards, some peer-to-peer apps from the app store, adn internet tethering where provided by the carrier.
Other than this it will not connect to another phone, computer ,device

  • Attempting to use bluetooth for the first time, and it never sees any other devices

I have an iPad 2 about a year old, running iOS 6.0.1.  This morning I tried to connect to another iPad, over bluetooth, and neither iPad is able to discover the other.  This is the first attempt to use bluetooth on either of these iPads.  The other iPad is also running iOS 6.0.1.  The iPads were less than 10 feet apart.
On both devices, I went to settings:bluetooth, and turned blutooth "on".  This opened up a "Devices" box, which says "Searching...", with a spinning wheel icon. Below this box is says "Now discoverable".  Both devices remained in this state.
I haven't used bluetooth before so I have no idea what I am doing wrong.
Later in the day I fiddled with the bluetooth systems prefs panel on my desktop (a circa 2005 intel mac running OSX 10.6.8).

(hadn't finished my earlier message but somehow it posted it before I was ready).
From the OSX bluetooth panel, I turned bluetooth on, and made my computer discoverable.  I then hit "setup new device", and was taken to the Bluetooth setup assistant.  After a few seconds it showed me my ipad as one of the devices it had discovered.  Over on the ipad, though, it did not discover the desktop machine.
After about a minute, I then selected the ipad from the list of devices on the desktop machine, and hit "continue".  At this point it said "attempting to pair with MyIpad", and "connection established".  At the same time, a panel popped up on my iPad, listing my desktop machines name, and asking for a PIN.  It is not clear to me whether it is asking for a PIN that I have supposedly set up on the desktop machine, or if it is asking me to establish a PIN.  So I quit.
In any case, my goal in going through this attempt on the destop machine was solely to establish whether the bluetooth hardware is working on the ipad.  I believe that has to be true.
So, can someone explain to me what steps I am *supposed* to go through to pair up two ipads over bluetooth?

It sounds like something went wrong with the drive.  Did you drop it?  How long has it been sitting around unused?
