Functionality missing in Dreamweaver CS5 that was in older versions

Is it me or is CS5 less user friendly than earlier versions? I've done most of my work with Dreamweaver 4... a little bit with Dreamweaver 8 and only jumped to CS5 because I saved up enough and thought I could advance my abilities with the advanced software....
Anyway - I've added background images to tables in earlier versions and cannot find how to change them or add new ones to new tables. I've searched the web and found many sites that claim to have the answer but after reading them they all seem to be way off base. Once again, I used a work around. I copied the code from one file to another and then changed the image file... HTML is not my strong suit... that's why I started usning Dreamweaver... the WYSIWYG functions made it easy. There used to be an area to add the image in the properties area... gone in CS5
Also gone is the Table height box.... ??
How about table border and background colours? They are gone as well
There are other things missing but the ones above are ones I used quite a bit.
I am attempting to get up to speed with CSS and hope that it will solve some of my issues with the missing stuff.

I'm still not pleased that I spent a lot of money only to find out I have to enhance my skills to use the newer software. I am finding the same type of issues with Fireworks... Most of the graphics I created with the older version get changed because a change in the way Fonts are used... and, one of my favorites... Bevel Boss is missing...
Well regardless of spending money for newer software, the web and its standards are ever changing. You could have of course, downloaded and installed a free yet very powerful text editor such as jEdit or Notepad++ and continue to design sites as you have been. I think the point of Adobe not making certain tools and buttons freely available IS an example of how the web is evolving. Why would adobe keep supporting obsolete practices?
I know the guy I work for LOVED using the font tag. I really had to dig around in DW to even find a mention of the font tag. They no longer have a tool or button to insert or wrap text in a font tag because its deprecated as well.

Moving files from Dreamweaver 1 to the latest version (Was: Dreamweaver 1)

I had the original Macromedia Dreamweaver 1. I have a website www.bodhicitta.net. I no longer have Dreamweaver 1, so I would like to know, do the recent editions of Dreamweaver recognise pages developed in Macromedia Dreamweaver 1.

If you intend to use DW, my advice is to learn all you can about modern HTML5 and CSS code. This is required learning to use DW. Without a working knowledge of code basics, DW's learning curve will be very steep and frustrating. If you understand HTML and it's relationship with CSS code, DW isn't that difficult to learn.

That said, if code isn't your thing, you might be happier starting over with Adobe Muse which is aimed at non-coders who prefer a visual interface. MU isn't as powerful as DW but it might be all you need to rebuild your web site. MU is also available from the Creative Cloud for 30 day free trial.

everytime I seek help with dreamweaver CS6 it gives me Dreamweaver CC info. How can I get informations and answers on CS6 only?

My trial version of dreamweaver won't open... Please help as the people from customer service refuse to! :(

I downloaded a trial version of dreamweaver. It worked for a
few days, then stopped working. When I click on the desktop icon it
loads and asks me if I want to continue with my trial (29 days
left) or enter serial number. When I click continue with trial a
"Dreamweaver 8" banner comes up (indicating it is loading) then it
closes. I phoned technical support and wasn't able to get through
several times. When I finally did (after 45 minutes) the conclusion
they gave me was that THEY COULD NOT HELP ME FOR "FREE" because it
was a trial version. I really want to learn this program and would
really appreciate any help. I also checked out the dreamweaver
download trouble-shooting page and tried a few things which did not
seem to help. My computer is fairly new and has more than enough
memory (160G or so?).

I'll try. What are your machine specs. You say 160G of
memory? I am
assuming you mean a 160 gb hard drive. That is not memory.
How much RAM do
you have? What operating system are you running?
Did you download the trial from the Adobe site? Do you have
antivirus or
firewall software that might be blocking the program?

Dreamweaver Trial Version is not opening

I was installing the trial version of Adobe Dreamweaver. Installation was no problem but now when i want to open the program its not opening. There comes: Dreamweaver can not open because of a problem:

Bought supscription of Dreamweaver but keep getting "trail version expired"

Hello,
I installed a trial version of DreamWeaver one month ago.
This is expired and I hit the BUY button and purchased a supscription.
I got a confirmation mail of the purchase.
But when I launch Dreamweaver again, I keep getting this message that my trial version has expired.
I tried uninstall and reinstall but didn't help.
Busy on it for 2 hours now, very annoying.
Please help!

i delete some files from the library to bring ps cc to zero... but i just reset the cc-trailversion

Fireworks in dreamweaver trial version?

For my website (www.habibi-se.com) photos are very important
and I want a program that makes my life easy: It should make
thumbnails automatically and offer easy-to-introduce and -arrange
photo and thumbnail options. I understood that Fireworks does that.
Does Fireworks come with the trial version of Dreamweaver so that I
can try out if it suits me?
Until now I used Netobjects Fusion but I can't get Fusion 10
to work on my Vista Ultimate PC, so I am looking for something
else. As I love Photoshop, Dreamweaver seems an obvious candidate,
even though I'll probably not use half of its possibilities. Or
would Microsoft Expression Web be a better choice for my personal
needs? Thank you for your answers.

What I intended to convey is that those who come into DW
expecting it to
take them by the hand will quickly get mired down and lose
interest. There
are many 'corpses' littering the climb up the learning curve.
The more
preparation you do (by gaining some base knowledge of HTML
and CSS) the less
likely you will be to fall into one of the many traps that
both DW and HTML
authoring will allow you to fall into. In some cases, those
traps are so
insidious that there is no way out without throwing away a
considerable (yet
unfruitful) effort on your part. Examples of these traps
might be the use of
frames, or of DW's Layout Mode, or of DW's pop-up menus, or
of Flash menus,
or....
You gave me no indication of your experience level or
competence with the
basic knowledge elements of HTML authoring, so I tried not to
make
assumptions. I'm guessing that coming into DW from NOF, you
are a WYSIWYG
user, and wanted to raise a flag for you that although DW is
marketing as a
'visual authoring' environment, it's going to be a tough road
if you use it
exclusively in that mode.

You have full access to all features of the software until
the expiration of
the Trial after 30 days.

I am unable to launch Dreamweaver Trial version which I have just downloaded. I am running Mac OS X 10.6.8 and have also performed a software update. Can anyone advise? When launching the application, I get the following error: Adobe Dreamweaver CC 2014.1 cannot be opened because of a problem. Check with the developer to make sure Adobe Dreamweaver CC 2014.1 works with this version of OS X. You may need to reinstall the application. Be sure to install any available updates for the application and Mac OS X.

Dreamweaver 2014.1 requires OS X 10.7.5 or later to be installed.
